Seun: This is false, bro. We do not hide threads by request unless there is a security or privacy issue, and only supermods are allowed to make that determination. Please restore any threads you've hidden solely because the OP asked and refer the cases where there are security or privacy issues to mukina2. Thanks a million for your efgorts & God bless you.
There have been precedence that not in consonance with what the bolded and that informed my action. I may be wrong thought. I think it's also imperative that the bolded is made law so that we don't get embarrassed on here for doing what we deem right...I think it's also imperatiove that you throw a light on what security and private issue entail cos the post i did what not a news item but the personal opinion of the OP hence the need to oblige him.

Obiagelli: You are right but fact is he has done a more than one term and should be doing better in his performance rating. This guy could easily have been a hero if he did his best in 6yrs and just let go. But of course power intoxicates
So, he will be a hero if he leaves in 2015? Lol grin And no, power intoxication does not suffice here as long as the constitution allows it. Tell that to Mugabe.
PoliticsRe: Gej Dancing To Impeachment by Afam4eva(m): 1:51pm On Sep 03, 2013
Abagworo: I think its an internal PDP affair and its their PDP business like I stated earlier.

Truthfully Jonathan is serving his 2nd term and not 1st as you just presumed. He finished off the last 2 years of Yar'Adua and contested for a 2nd term. It was the quest to hold on to power that brought about twisting of glaring facts. However if the court of law states that this is his 1st term, then he has every right to contest the 2nd.

The civil society is not in support of his policies and control majority of Nigeria's active political followership. The NLC, NUPENG, PENGASSAN, ASUU, ASUP, OKada riders, NURTW, NANS and others are not impressed with Jonathan's administration.
The consitution states that a president can be elected twice. The keyword here is elected. Jonathan was not elected the first time. He was simply service his superior term in office. The court doesn't need to say zilch. The constitution is very clear. It's only those who are blinded by ambition that choose not to see it.
PoliticsRe: Gej Dancing To Impeachment by Afam4eva(m): 1:46pm On Sep 03, 2013
Obiagelli: Are saying no body called obj out, why is obj hated in the SW, why was he almost impeached, gej haven't faced half the pressure obj had to deal with.
Every president of Nigeria since independence were criticized but nowhere near to what Jonathan is experiencing.
PoliticsRe: Baraje-led PDP Faction Give Conditions For Peace by Afam4eva(m): 1:45pm On Sep 03, 2013
They have only one condition and that is, that Jonathan does not re-contest in 2015. The other conditions are just smoke screens.
PoliticsRe: Gej Dancing To Impeachment by Afam4eva(m): 1:31pm On Sep 03, 2013
Obiagelli: Ofcourse they have to find a better reason to impeach him but your second line about where Jonathan comes from is unacceptable, bro Jonathan won a landslide in the last election with high hopes from voters, he also did very well in the north. If gej had performance rating of close to 60% the whole country would stand by him.
And Obasanjo had a performance close to 60%? Yaradua nko? If Yaradua or Obasanjo were still in power and confronted with the challenges that has face Jonathan's government, nobody will be calling for their head. NIgeria are partisan, tribal and religious in their assessment and this is a grave precedence that may metamorphose into a cagey macabar dance which may in turn lead to Nigeria's break up if care is not taken.
PoliticsRe: Gej Dancing To Impeachment by Afam4eva(m): 1:29pm On Sep 03, 2013
Abagworo: I disagree with you on that. I think his travails centers on abuse of power mostly by his wife, dishonoring agreements coupled with trying to hold on to power after 2015. That however is more or less a PDP internal affair.

On a greater scale, the civil society are not impressed with his performance hence he cannot win a free and fair election. Amaechi survived his whole power abuse because Amaechi performed and the civil society staked their head for Amaechi not to be removed. Infact the Amaechi issue has reduced Jonathan's power as it is likely strikes will always follow any unpopular policy by his administration.
What has the wife got to do with the man and what do you mean by "trying to hold on to power beyond 2015"? Does the constitution now allow to two terms of 4 years each for a president. So, what's wrong if he wants to contest beyond 2015? Is this agreement he had in the constitution? Why's everyone acting like he has dropped some shite on the constitution only because he failed to honor his promise to some uber corrupt individuals.

The civil service has never been impressed with any president of NIgeria for a long time, so it's not a Jonathan thing.

Personally, i don't believe Jonathan is the best we can have and i don't even think he can score more than 55% in my books but let's always discuss issues and not use the fact that we hate this man to call for his head. If we say he's incompetent then let's leave it at that and stop bringing some satan agreement that he failed to honour.

The thread belongs to the OP and he can do whatever he pleases with it with an oversight function performed by the mods. If the OP asks that his thread be deleted then other posts which are subordinates the the thread will go as well. Of what use is the body without the head?

sucreblazing: One of the tasks I was saddled with was to give the toast at the reception. Given that we both shared apathy for the opposite sex for a reasonable while, I was thus in the know when the relationship started. What was shut out of my knowledge was the blow by blow account of how the relationship was initiated. By the time I debriefed him of the genesis of the relationship to prepare me for the toast, it was apparently a union activated by the tools that have come to define our time.
Why do i think the bolded is the name of the Nairalander. I know a Nairalander called Debrief.
PoliticsRe: The True Image Of Abia State With Pictures. by Afam4eva(m): 12:50pm On Sep 03, 2013
Abagworo: Experience is important and that is why experience is included in CV. He has no political experience and has not done anything that impacted on the masses. Soludo and Ngige's achievements live with us and is undeniable.
We have to learn to always discard all these ogbanje political experience. We want technocrats to take over governance while politicians should be incharge of the political parties. I also believe Willie Obiano doesn't have enough but his CV shows that he's a technocrat in Business and Anambra needs something like that. But i'll prefer a Soludo or even an Ngige to him.
PoliticsRe: Gej Dancing To Impeachment by Afam4eva(m): 12:43pm On Sep 03, 2013
Abagworo: Finally nobody can impeach Jonathan. Nigerians won't accept indiscriminate impeachment based on power tussle.
He actually can be impeaches if he falls out with the majority of the house. But the house has to give a sound reason for his impeachment.

I personally think Jonathan's travails goes beyond his supposed ineptitude. It has a lot to do with where he comes from. I'm going to write an article on it.

ubomez2@yahoo.c:
I agree with you especially as regards Aba. In my view Peter Obi and Sullivan Chime are the best governors the south east have produced in the last twenty years. Theodore Orji comes a distant third in terms of redeveloping Abia state. The infrastructure built by the late Sam Mbakwe has all but crumbled and Aba is a complete shadow of what it was in the 1980s.
Is this a joke?

IslamRe: Language Barriers In Mosques by Afam4eva(m): 8:10pm On Sep 02, 2013
BetaThings: The sermon in Dawanau market cannot be in English; neither will it be in English only in Ariaria market
What is the purpose of dogo turenchi when 75% of the audience cannot understand
The solution is not the sermon but the education of the congregation

I was born into Islam, but if I go to India and most of them don't understand English, what will happen to me?
I will have to enjoy the khutbah in urdu
The fact is that
There are still exclusive Yoruba and Igbo churches. That's understandable because they have a target audience and these kind of churches are found where these people are a majority. But consider a mosque in a place like Ikeja for example. How will an Igbo person attend if the sermons are in Yoruba or Hausa. Why not have the sermons in English and a Yoruba translator or atleast provide an alternative for these people. Afterall the aim iss to spread Islam. From what i've learned, islam comes with a lot of baggage. By this i mean that for someone to become a Muslims, one invaribaly learns the culture associated with islam which happens to be Arabic or the local language of islam in a particular vicinity. People should not be forced to acculturate due to religion. Religion should always be separated from culture.
PoliticsRe: The Ifes And Modakekes!! by Afam4eva(m): 8:05pm On Sep 02, 2013
nawti: Everything you wrote was correct up till the part where you stated that the Modakeke's ran into the surrounding bushes. I am conversant with the details of the war as my two uncles were part of the war itself while one of them died during the struggle. Each one of them fought on opposing sides, reason is that my mum is from Modakeke while my dad is from Ife. The uncle who died, was as a result of overconfidence in his jazz, he is immune to gun and cutlasses, he was killed gradually with razor blade, which was used to bring out his intestine and left in the forest to die.

Back to the war itself, one side relied on money (Ife - by virtue of Sijuwade being a very rich man, infact one of the richest in the country), while the other side (the modakekes) rely on jazz, mainly because their ancestors were warriors. They got to the present day modakeke due to an invitation by the Ooni of ife, what happened was that the old Ife was constantly being terrorised by the Ijeshas, to the point that they took over the Ife lands up till the palace. That is the reason why the name of the palace is Enu-Owa - which translates to the point where Owa stopped. Owa-Obokun is the name of the King of the Ijeshas.

These warriors were contract Mercenaries from the old Oyo empire, whom on getting there fought for the Ife people and chased the Ijeshas back to where they came from. After they finished their duties, they left for Oyo after which the Ijeshas returned and conqured Ife again. The Ife king called on the warriors again for help which they obliged, but this time around they were persuaded to stay to protect the Ife town.

The main cause for the war is similar to what the Igbos are going through in Lagos where the indigenes tell the dwellers to leave, to which the Modakeke's told them that they cannot leave because they no longer have anywhere to call home in the Oyo empire because of the fact that they have left for decades and cannot just pack up and go back. This response angered the Ife people and they started numerous midnight killings of Modakeke travelers. The Modakeke's retaliated and it kept on like that till it degenerated to a full fledged war.

The only time the Modakeke's left the town was in 1901 when the then Ooni Olubuse chased them away, which was because a sacrifice which was made of a day old baby was placed in middle of Modakeke. This to them was an abomination which led to the people leaving to set up towns like Ode-Omu, Jagun- Adado, Ikire, Gbongan and so on, that is why in the present day Gbogan, most of the household names have their duplicate Household names in Modakeke

The true event was that there was no victor nor vanquished during the war itself hence the intervention of Oyinlola and Obasanjo, the two of them called for a truce.
No knowledge is a waste.
IslamRe: Language Barriers In Mosques by Afam4eva(m): 7:57pm On Sep 02, 2013
BetaThings: The division in America is most evident on Sunday mornings when The blacks go their churches an the whites, theirs
I am not sure you have ever "fellowshipped" at Qua Iboe church or ECWA
Anyway where a mosque is situated determines what language is spoken
It is Hausa at 1004 mosque and Yoruba at Owode Onirin
I am not so sure that we can satisfy everyone - I might lose the minority in some places where there are iliterates
But it will be worth it if I can convey to the majority
BTW the imam's knowledge is an issue. Some cannot speak English
Religion is not a business, so conveying to the majority and leaving the rest even if it's just one person is not ideal. There's a reason why we have Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa translators in a lot of Nigerian churches. The word must get to as many people as possible. So, what you're telling me is that, if as an Igbo man living in Lagos and i convert to islam, that i will have to learn Yoruba or Hausa to be able to attend a mosque. That's not right imo. That's the reason why the population of Islam will keep reducing while the population of Christianity will keep increasing. It's not because the latter is better but because the latter is more open to any kind of people. So, whether you speak English, Igbos, Yoruba, Hausa, Edo, Ogoni, Swahili, you're covered. I think young Muslim leaders need to start opening Islam up to the world.

PoliticsRe: The Ifes And Modakekes!! by Afam4eva(m): 10:50am On Sep 02, 2013
saxywale: Modakeke is a town within ife hence they are surrounded by ife towns.

Modakeke's are originally from Oyo. They fled Oyo after the collapse of the Oyo empire to seek refuge in ife. A small area (similar to a large refugee camp) was mapped out for them within ife town. I dont know what happened in those days but Ooni Olubuse, chased them away, Ooni ademiluyi-Ajagun allowed them to return during his reign.

During the last war, they were chased away again and fled into forest and farms surrounding Ife. But the war ended and they were allowed to return. To give peace a chance, Ooni Sijuwade made their baale(community chief) a crown wearing king. But they won't be given a local government on their own which i believe was one of the reasons they went to war. Ife south, east and central are the only local governments in ife.

I have cousins from Modakeke and we get along well although I am from ife central.
This makes sense. When i used to hear about the Ife/Modakeke fight. I probably thought the two people have their own domain but are fighting over who own the border not knowing that Modakeke are not original from where they presently are. That's why i was surprised the the LGA where Modakeke is located in called "Ife".
