I still believe that Atiku is PDP's greatest chance of challenging Buhari. This will determine their chances in 2019.
However, if they can't get Atiku, it should be in this order:
Kwankwaso
Makarfi
Saraki
if they are smart, they should not even think of fielding Saraki. he only has a base in Kwara state and nowhere else. Nobody will vote for him anywhere in the north ecept Kwara state. Nobody will also vote for him in the south-west just because he has some Yoruba ancestry. he is just not a popular candidate for a presidential election. if they pick him, that will be their greates undoing.
ATIKU should be the choice. He can wrestle some votes from Buhari in the north and add it to votes from the SS and SE. |

People who were disowned by their own people had no other use than to be tools to perpetrate the Northern agenda. I have nothing against Rochas, Ngige or anyone of Igbo extraction being in APC and i was vehemently against people who started abusing them and calling them all sort of names. These Igbo APC people like Rochas, Ngige and even you are no different. They have constantly insulted the Igbo nation just because we refuse to join them in APC. Rochas has called us fools, smae with Orji Uzor Kalu. Ngige even defended Buhari's 5% statement. Those are definitely not the kind of people i can beat my chest and say that i trust. What have these people ever done for Igboland apart from looting our commonwealth. I know who my leaders are and none of these people in APC qualify. |

There's one thing which people who share the same view as you have in common. You are all APC sympathizers and you're angry that Igbos will not tow the same line. You can't be smarter than over 40 million Igbos in Nigeria, so until you have a better plan for Igbos within the Nigerian project, i suggest you keep your political affiliation to yourself and stop bugging us about how political naive we are. The only tip for people who want to jog in Lagos is not to do it. Go to the gym and run on the threadmill.
I was told by the doctor that i had high cholesterol, so i decided to start doing some jogging. But each time i did it, i always narrowly escape being knock down by a car, so i stopped.
Our environment is nor car friendly, how much more "jog friendly". Don't jog, stay ALIVE. |

Infact I just mop when igbo matters are being talked about at my office in lagos. I mean there's no need defending rubish. Almost everything they say about us are facts. Starting from or political foolishness to the continuous bad decisions we take back to back.
Imagine the way we are stupidly playing ourselves into political oblivion in the upcoming election. There is no coherence in our action.
Other blocs are already planning and making arrangements to a win but in the east there is no laid out plan for our own win. Rochas is in APC, he could have been an asset (considering how he is always clamouring for more appointments from buhari) but NO! we chose to utterly destroy his political career now he is a laughing stock.
ipob came at the wrongest time. This is not the time to start chanting succession, rather we need to put up a coordinated political front, for a knockout blow at the end.
Igbos have a very poor emotional intelligence quotient.

PDP gave igbos IGP in 2009 10 years after it gained power in 1999, 2012 was when igbos got chief of army staff from PDP 13 years after it took power despite our illustrious Alex Ekwueme being one of the main founders. APC is just 3 years in power and you want everything despite showing every disdain in your books towards them? Of course. Maybe you can tell us why we have very few Igbos in Buhari's cabinet. MrJanuzaj: SOUTH EAST: IS IT NOT TOO LATE?
I have read the recent transmissions by Senator Bukola Saraki directed at my Igbo tribe. I have deliberately kept mum on this as I had earlier resolved to speak less on Igbos as regards the 2019 Elections and 2023 Presidency having said quite a bit.
However seeing as some of my brethren have swallowed the cheap bait, I will chip this in just to keep the reality before us, at least for posterity sake. Truth is bitter but it's still the best medicine.
My people say; 'He who does not remember where the rain started beating him, will not remember where it stopped'.
REWIND TO 2014. A new National Party was being conceived. Political Parties, political players and Regions were being wooed to the new alliance.
'We' Igbos (read South East) vehemently refused to touch it even with a long pole. We packaged, sold to ourselves and bought the baseless propaganda that it was an Islamic alliance that would birth an "Islamic" and "Hausa" Party. Simply because those our brethren heavily invested in the PDP at the time were afraid of losing their vested selfish interests. Till today I'm still trying to fathom the basis for that wicked and twisted deceit especially as many of those Igbo elites who sold that dummy have since ported to the same APC.
We failed to even identify with that new Alliance. Hence the Party, APC was birthed without any remarkable input from us or presence. The few amongst us who aligned were called all kinds of names and abused to high heavens by us even when they were proven right afterall.
Thus the few Igbos who were part of it were at best fringe players as they didn't have the required clout to make serious demands and do the necessary political wheeling and dealing required in Politics to strike the hard bargains since politics is all about interests and numbers. They were even suspect, so much so that it was only their personal political sagacity that gave them whatever they got.
That Party went on to win the Presidential Election which in truth, most of us never believed it could or would, because of our half baked permutations and poor understanding of Nigerian politics. But it did.
Curiously we turned up at the fore front of telling this same Party how it should share it's 'spoils of war'. We became hypocritical moral champions with an over bloated sense of entitlement. Who does that, in all political reality and practicality? But we did, even while vehemently and vociferously still refusing to shift our position, style and rhethoric.
We dug in. Supported every bad thing and person against the Party, the elected President and the Administration while denying any and every good done to and for our Region.
Fast forward to where we are today. Almost four years after the 2015 misadventure, we have stayed put at 2015, refusing to move forward, refusing to shift grounds, refusing to play pragmatic politics, telling ourselves the same lies we cooked and bought in 2015 and some more.
Now barely 5 months to another election, we have started again saying "APC cannot give Presidency to Igbos in 2023". "Buhari cannot hand over to an Igbo man because Buhari hates Igbos". "APC is deceiving you", bla bla bla.
Of course. We will believe Saraki, who has only but a fanthom dream of becoming President and whose only known record is selfishness but we can't believe Buhari who's already President and who has a record of voluntarily picking two great Igbo sons as running mates in the past? Chukwu aju.
It is interesting and vital to note here that the PDP which many of us still proudly support and adore was in power for 16 solid years and in those years there were 4 Presidential Inaugurations and on none of those was an Igbo man found worthy by the PDP of even Vice Presidency and we are still bold to say it is the APC that has not even finished one tenure that doesn't want to give power to Igbos. Odi nma.
NOW; Seriously, let's be sincere. As things stand today politically, why would the APC even hand power to us Igbos in 2023? On what grounds? On what records? On what politics? Is power given to anyone? Is it an appeasement or a gift?
The APC is a political party. The main focus of a political Party is to hold power and keep it to enable it deliver on its agenda. So if the APC reads that the SE does not want the Presidency or does not have the capacity to help them win and keep power, they will stick with the regions that can and work with individuals who are interested.
Make no mistake, I have always said, I do not blame us Igbos for the decision majority of us took in 2015. It's our right. But continuing to pretend that it was other regions, Buhari or the APC that made us do what we did then or remain where we are today is purely self deceit and I refuse to play that ostrich game.
As far back as 2014, I and many others made that argument that Igbo Presidency was very feasible in 2023, ONLY under under the APC, ONLY IF we did a couple of things right politically. I personally continued to speak loudly on that even after the 2015 elections until when I realized that we were not ready to play the politics that was required and now I dare say it may be too late. Or is it not? Time will tell.
For now, we can continue to tell ourselves that we cannot hold the Presidency of Nigeria. I heard and read many of our brethren go from PDP to Biafra/seccesion (read IPOB) to Referendum to "Igbos do not need Presidency but Restructuring" etc forgetting that all that didn't lie squarely with us alone. We think other regions are not reading our body language?
I really don't care what Saraki writes or says because they've all come to realize that it's very easy to play us like a flute. So like Saraki, like Fani Kayode, like Fayose, like Atiku, even Jonah Jang of all people, they keep playing us.
I've learnt not to bother myself anymore to avoid unnecessary abuse from nonentities . As some of us have said, it's good governance we want, even if only one village will be producing the Presidents. So be it.
Ka Chineke mezie okwu.
(c) Dr Uche Diala I really don't understand some of you. an't you support a plitial party and their candidates in peace? Why must you involve on in your political partisanship. Yes, the Igbos were neither given the presidency or vice-presidency under the PDP and that is because there is a deliberate interest to keep Igbos down politically and it is not a party issue. Having said that, under PDP, we had the Senate presidency, an Inspector general of Police, The head of Army etc. Tell me what this APC Buhari government have done for Igbos that gives you the inclination that they would support an Igbo president in 2023. if you believe that Buhari will hand over to an Igbo man in 2023, then you are not as smart as you may think. |

Cjrane2: Mister Afam,
Just for your information, you are not more literate than many Igbos and neither are other tribes in Nigeria more literate than Igbo.
The problem is that an average Igbo person is taught to work hard but the average person in western Nigeria learns early how to be subversive and insidious. You see the same attitude here how people create funny monikers and argue age-long Yoruba or Fulani ethnic points of view or stereotypes of Igbos, while swearing they are "Igbo"
These people who come here claiming to be Igbo are not are not crazy as you may like to think, they are doing it for a purpose. Since you are not raised to be insidious, you will not understand their ways.
The people pointing it out to them that no Igbo person will gleefully accept the injustices of Nigeria as non-existent are right in doing so. Those fakers can come out with names as Abdullahi or Ogunlana and argue their point of view decently. Instead they choose Eze or Nnamdi thinking they are fooling anyone but themselves.
I agree with those that said folks should simply ignore them and that is what every reasonable person should do. It still won't stop them from using other silly monikers to respond to themselves, but at least we know this is a mad man talking to himself and hoping somebody will respond to their trash. And if you think someone is daft, does that make the person anything but Igbo? It seems to e that there's a silent agreement that there's no stupid Igbo person in existence when in fact, i've met many of them online. Is Joe Igbokwe or Rochas Okorocha not Igbo? Ohh i foorget, he's Okoro awusa like you guys will call him. There's a lady on Youtube that constantly insults and derides Igbos every chance she gets and she's as Igbo as anyone else. Not everyone will treat Igbos withh respect and definitely not all igbo people themselves. So, let's stop acting like we're one hell of a homogenous people with a single thinking faculty. Most Igbos will like Ojukwu, a handful will hate and insult him and they have their reasons. Many Igbos will support IPOB and many will condemn and call them out. That's what the republican nature of Igbos is all about. We musn't always agree on any issue and we shoudln't de calling the Igboness of anyone to question because oof it. |

So when someone speaks from the perspective of how a group of people collect land and starts showing their cultural understanding, it's safe to make an educated guess Not everybody must reason like you. Igbo people are not homogenous in their thinking. So, calling someone awusa or on-Igbo because of their opinion, reinforces our behavior towards people who hold a seperate view. Ot's for the same reason that people were insulted for not supporting IPOB. Our growth and development depends greatly on our willingness to be liberal and accomodating. |

horsepower101: I am very shocked this is coming from you considering that you have been on Nairaland for years and have witnessed the proliferation of monikers pretending to be igbo and causing havoc amongst our conversations. The moment any character is found to be claiming what they are not, their opinions become very suspicious from that moment. If someone has integrity, why do they need to carry a false identity.
I will fully embrace a non Igbo person participating in these conversations with us than one found to be pretending to be Igbo.
"When you see a snake in your garden, you have to get rid of it immediately or it will eventually end up on your bed while you sleep" Are you Igbo? prove to me that you're Igbo. I could care less who is Igbo or who is not. As long as we cannot prove our Igboness on an anonymous forum, we have no right to determine who is or who is not Igbo just because their thoughts don't align with ours. |
Politics › Re: . by Afam4eva(m): 12:28am On Aug 24, 2018 |
Ofodirinwa: I know you're not Igbo because you seem to believe the most common way for someone to acquire land is the government dashing it to them lol. Our major problem in Igboland is illiteracy. I cannot for the life of me understand why people will rather question someone's Igboness than actually present a superior argument to counter theirs no matter how ludicrous their assertions are. I don't have to conform with a universally accepted idea to be Igbo. We need to do away with this disgusting attitude. |

chokey419: So basically I got here late September last year and I wanted to hit the ground running I tried searching and applying for jobs online but nothing was forthcoming I started getting a bit frustrated but I knew that everything will still workout fine. I’m currently in Wisconsin and here the public transportation ain’t really nice so that was another issue that was affecting me since most jobs I got called in for an interview were kind of far away, luckily for me a family friend sent me a link to a fedex job as a package handler. I applied and got the job I kid you not I only did that job for one day. It was back breaking work and I think that because I did have an African name they assumed I will be fit and all that. But honestly I couldn’t deal with it. So basically my first 3 months here I was jobless. A lot of people where advising me to work in a gas station or some bull like that but most people who work there are those that don’t have papers and I didn’t want to be drawn into that category.
So late last year I went to a staffing agency and they got me into a very nice job at an international food processing agency within a couple of months I was able to buy my first car. Life was smooth but I knew I wanted more and I didn’t want to be complacent in my current job because some people just get comfortable and be content with making $15 an hr. As you know IT is a very lucrative industry right now an I knew that I had to try to get into that somehow.
Was introduced to some who said he could train me to become EPIC certified but it would cost $1500 for a 3 week class brush up my resume and get me my first gig. I was kind of leaning towards doing that but I later changed my mind. I met this young lady and we started talking which lead to something a bit deeper. I will advise anyone who is single and has a boo back home don’t promise anyone anything because it will just lead to stories that touch. Well back to what I was talking about. I met the chic and apparently she works for an NGO who help to train people into certain IT positions and after you are done with the program you will get guaranteed employment well as a naija boy I knew that I had to get enrolled into the program. I eventually did and classes start by October it’s going to last for 4months so I should be done by January next year. So that basically been what I have been up to so far.
Yankee sweet as long as you keep focused always try to go to school or get certification in what ever field you will want to get into and sky ia your limit. Don’t try to rack up to much debt and you are good to go.
Thanks. Good to hear your story. |
