Interesting thread. |
phanthomz: Im not a feminist, bt i simply beleive in myself. As much as im a submissive wife, i rub minds wit my hubby ova any decision we make as a family and he loves me d way i am. Cant imagine being a woman who doesnt av a say. |
I just dey stroll pass sha. |
Crixina: with men like this, one can't just help but hate the idea of marriage.. Not necessarily true dear. If a boy doesn't come, it's not the woman's fault. But to say that a male is not important in the family is to demonstrate an astounding disconnect with our African culture in favour of Western culture that promises a lot but delivers little. Here in a European country where I live, over 55% of my work colleagues have already divorced at least once. Some are going through their third divorce and they're not even 50 yet. So it's not exactly the romance/matrimonial el dorado that our African women believe the lax Western culture offers. If it happens that a boy is not forthcoming, you would do well to lovingly explore how your man is taking it. I have several male relatives, some have 3, 4 or 6 daughters, no sons. They are all quite happy. |
tosrich: The importance of a male child was Socially constructed to ensure male dominance.. Even in the bible? A girl is married AWAY, a boy brings another man's daughter and add to his own family. To become his Mrs. Whether the wife was raised by Mazi Okeke, Otunba Amodu or Alhaji Dambau, is immaterial. Until the time comes when you escort a groom to the bride's house and given to the woman and her family in marriage, we're where we're. It is disingenuous for ladies to twist this thread to "men say women are worth less than men". It is not. Majority of men dote on their daughters more than their sons. Both sexes simply have different roles. Women can chose to totally ignore their birth family if very comfortable in marriage. And she can do so without name calling/consequences. Boys cannot. |
Look I used to believe that there's no need for male kids. But events both personal and around some people I know now make me realise that our ancestors were not foolish. Because of education and long stay abroad, I bought into this Western/equality hype. In my observation the girls just got married and left, barely caring about their elderly parents (some do). Funeral expenses came, hear excuse " I am just a woman, you know. We girls don't know about these things". Time to share property: "Since father left no will, things must be shared equally, this is 21st century you know". Elsewhere, on hearing of her dad's death the most senior child/daughter abroad said "Well I am NOT going to Lagos for the funeral, I'm just a girl. Anyway dad sold his best houses before he died". Two men who had no sons, their houses in the village have now nearly fallen down from neglect. Their daughters are busy cooking for their husbands in far-flung corners of the world. Sure some girls won't fit into the above but why risk it? To believe that we must follow everything oyinbo do will not make us oyinbo. It will only further demonstrate our self-loathing and inferiority complex as a people (no matter how much we deny it). Women in their selfishness cannot see beyond personal/their kids interest in marriage. As an African guy you have a duty to preserve your lineage and name, especially an only son like me. Something your wife couldn't care less about. |
@OP Nigeria is a place where accidents are common. Don't forget insurance to cover your clients/visitors. People suffer injuries everytime and plunge many families into poverty. |
nice |
@OP You need to look carefully and check if she's trying to pass a message across under the guise of Arsenal. Do you romance her as well as you used to before marriage? Do you spend enough time with her? Do you zoom off to watch Arsenal when she really just want her man with her? Do you have kids you leave at home to watch Arsenal? Do you then return blabbing about the match when she doesn't give a monkey's? You know we men can be very complacent sometimes, please ensure there's no crack somewhere. Tit-for-tat (don't stay long in saloon or don't chat with Becky for an hour) is childish. Finally look for a way to watch the games at home but DON'T turn your house to a free viewing centre by inviting all your friends with alomo and palmie everytime!! ![]() |

Ogbeche77: For this calamity to end, I think the people of Akure should do the right thing, recall the previous Deji of Akure that was dethroned.. If one Oba isn't dead another one shouldn't be ascend the throne . It a tradition, any attempt to float this leads to premature death and further calamities in the land... The people of Owo tried it and failed..... The way they depose kings in some parts of Nigeria makes me wonder. In African culture, there's nothing like ex-Oba, only late Oba. Sure even Kings make mistake but the tradition also provides for settling such issues. |
Hilarious |

When it comes to religion people become very emotional. My take is that a muslima not being allowed to marry a non-muslim has nothing to do with devine instruction at all. It's was shear pragmatism and ancient Arab culture in the beginning. A religion reflects the culture of where it started. That's why religion is also a colonial and cultural tool. Since a man was/is the master of his wife in that culture, her Jewish/Christian faith should have NO undue influence on the children/family. Who knows, the woman might just convert to blend in. People should remember that Islam claimed to respect Jews and Christians in the beginning. It was a masterstroke. It made no sense to show true intentions and fight wars on too many fronts. They needed as much tolerance and support from people to establish. But that changed once they established reasonably. |
This does not appear to be murder, they should release the banker ASAP! Does she have lawyers at all? More likely causes of death include Hemorrhagic Stroke or some sort of hemorrhage, possibly cerebral type. Nonesense.
. And bleed from mouth? Or you mean upper GI haemorrhage? |
Litmus: Before Ghana must go there was Nigeria must go. Many Nigerians lost their lives too, making their way back home.It was a little like baby turtles trying to make their way to the ocean while being picked of by fiddler crabs and seagulls.... Nigerian deportees' case was actually worse because large swathes of Naija was still devasted by the civil/Biafra war. The war just ended. Ghana had NO war devastation back home. The oil boom of 1973 from Middle East crisis came to Naija's rescue. However, paying bad with bad is not the solution. I knew some people who remained quite bitter about losing all they laboured for in Ghana. |
binhozie: I had it mind to bad mouth you a little more, but then I can see today's your big day. So I'll just bury the hatchet and go ahead a wish you a happy birthdayThanks for letting this matter slide. On your way to being a good husband if you're not already married. @ Ms Nas, Happy birthday dear! LLNP. |
Naija should develop itself and not carry other countries' struggle on its head. Naija sacrificed a lot towards liberating Zim. Nobody cares how much help they get from you, don't expect respect or appreciation for it. In recent years Naija has been sending technical aid and professors everywhere as if we ourselves don't need them. We cannot afford all this help. Our students are at home for 4 months no thanks to FG & ASUU. We should should stop all this "bigmanity" mentality. Nigeria should put Naija first for once like other countries (including Zim) are doing. |
binhozie: I thought it was Nairaland's Adaobi123 o.... Abeg God Forbid o, no mention our Ada like that o. You wan give small bum bum team leader's admirers heart attack? |
![]() Emmyk: What are Nigerians looking for in Zim anyways?Abeg no come yamutu person with laughter. ![]() |
canalily: ;( jst eyeing you o o o!. Ekputu je je, Ekputu jeje! You dey eye our brother wife? Kai! No let boko people hear o. You know how boko dey perform eye surgery? With this amount of eyeing, Nadia was always going to be a Naija wife. |
sanniemoe: Lol. Saudi is a lovely place bit Saudians are one of the most hostile people on earth esp to blacks. d not visit there. What is lovely about a place full of hostile people and to blacks in particular? The desert or the artificial oases? Mstcheeeeeew. Even if I had a faith that has hostile people as its custodian I would not visit there. |
hmmmm |
I no blame the bastards, because in a better organised society, their DNA would be fed into the police system and bang at least one of them will be caught to confess others. Then they can be humiliated and killed for their crime. |
Go on displaying your uncouth agbero antics. They will roll out drums for you to dance in the market place. |
