Nigeria's immediate past Vice President and Professor of Law, Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) has joined Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) as its Global Advisor. This was disclosed by Prof. Osinbajo (SAN) via his Instagram account on Tuesday evening. The former Vice President, who recently led the Commonwealth Observer Group to the multi-tier elections in Sierra Leone last month, expressed excitement at the opportunity to work with GEAPP. He promised to unlock capital flows into the clean energy sector and boost Africa's share in the global carbon market. "GEAPP in such a short period have demonstrated a commitment to support developing countries' shift to a clean energy (sic) using models that ensure universal energy access as well as drive economic growth, generate jobs and sustainable livelihoods and meet urgent climate goals", his statement partly read. Also confirming the appointment on its Instagram account, the alliance quoted Osinbajo as describing GEAPP’s vision for change as "ambitious". "That is entirely fitting; if we’re to achieve our twin goals of universal energy access and climate change action, while transforming the lives of millions, then we must set our sights high", the new Global Advisor was quoted as saying. GEAPP's CEO, Simon Harford, who also spoke at the former VP's unveiling in Lagos Tuesday, praised Prof. Osinbajo's expertise, leadership, and global network just as he described him as a "valuable catalyst for our mission". The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet is a platform for collaborative action to accelerate green energy transitions and renewable energy solutions in developing and emerging economies in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean. It does this by providing grant funding, technical assistance, and a range of financing options through a historic partnership of philanthropy, multilateral development banks, development finance institutions, international organizations, and governments. |
They knew a Fulani President (aka PMB) wasn't going to release NK; it didn't matter to him that even if the entire SE region had to burn to the ground, he wasn't going to approve the release of the IPOB founder from unlawful incarceration. The 2023 presidential election seemed like the brightest chance for one of their own occupying the highest office in the land so in the buildup to the polls what did they do? They reduced their frequency of attacks/Biafra rhetorics. However, with another Southerner (SW precisely) at the helm of affairs now pending the judgment of the PEPT & the Supreme Court, they've resumed their attacks & agitations with brutal alacrity also hoping that the Tinubu government in a bid to curry the affection of the SE & avoid the type of frightening dimension the IPOB menace has assumed recently in the region, will be forced to release NK. This strategy may work for them but then the evil seeds that's UGM/IPOB has already been sown & it's only a matter of time before those seeds germinate & become a monster that no one - not even a "freed" NK - will be able to call to order. |
Why always playing the victim card? How's the scrutiny of a student's JAMB/UTME result suddenly an attack on am entire race? For all intents and purposes, the examination body never mentioned the student's ethnicity nor implied that the controversy is a recurring problem with a particular ethnicity but yes, it has to be an attack on the girl's race coz that's the only way to whip up sentiments and paint the entire incident a tribal witch-hunt. It's well Nigeria! |
I may be wrong but it seems the office of NSA & Inspector General of Police under the current administration will play very influential roles in national security unlike the recent past where the IG especially always played second fiddle to the service chiefs. Notice how the IGP & NSA are in front while the service chiefs are closely following behind them? Never seen a picture - not in the last 10yrs at least - where the service chiefs are arriving for a meeting with the President and the IG of Police walks ahead of the CDS, least of all, the other service chiefs; could this be due to the widely perceived closeness of Egbetokun & Ribadu to President Tinubu? Also, notice how they all arrived the forecourt (or wherever) of the Presidential Villa in a Coaster bus? Under the last admin, the service chiefs normally arrive in their respective service vehicles. |
Yeye dey smell. Bunch of hypocrites who for 8yrs of the past administration turned a blind eye to the menace of open grazing especially in the city centre have suddenly realised that it's no longer going to be tolerated. |
I experienced something similar last month when I wanted to buy a note book; asked for 40leaves but when the seller brought it, I'd to ask again if it's actually what I asked for and she affirmed. I was quite shocked. The quality of notebooks says 10-20 years ago are of a far better quality than what's on offer these days. INTEGRITYA1: |
May his gentle soul RIP. Remember using the "Onward" notebooks during my undergrad days. Melezenawii: |
sonature1:Let's even assume the assertion is correct, LP based on the declared results scored 25% and above in only 16 states including FCT. My guess is the 16 states the Chude guy claimed LP won (based on their irev portal analysis) is among the 12 states and FCT INEC declared in the party's favour (Benue, Rivers & A/Ibom I strongly believe are the other states where the LP got at least 25% but believes it won outrightly bringing their presumed tally to 15 States remaining 1 which I can't guess now). So, conceding that they could actually prove they won in 16 States and the tribunal agrees with "evidences" presented, where will the remaining 25% in 8 states come from? Yobe, Ogun, Ekiti, Gombe, Katsina, Adamawa, Ondo, Jigawa, Bauchi, Kaduna, Kano, Borno, Niger, Kogi, Zamfara, Kwara, Kebbi, Sokoto and Oyo States are the other states where he didn't get up to 25% of total valid votes cast. Of the above mentioned, Oyo, Kogi, Kaduna, Ogun & Adamawa States are where the LP got between 11-21% Max of the total valid votes cast; the rest, they didn't even get up to 10%. After all is said and done, proving the party won 16 states outrightly may not be such a huge burden but you see that 25% in at least 24 states? That's going to be a hard nut to crack and who's not to say some of the figures attributed to the LP candidate in the SE especially will also not get shaved off when the results are scrutinized in the tribunal as well? Until the tribunal and SC rules against the declaration by INEC, na to dey pray for President Bola Tinubu administration to succeed. Good luck to LPDP. |
Lol. He bought the property in 2017, presidential elections were held in 2023 but no, they must find a way to link it to the emergence of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Presidential-elect. Meanwhile, can anyone point me to any tweet where Dr. Obi Ezekwesili spoke out against her favourite candidate when his name popped up in the leaked Pandora papers? Hypocrites of the highest order. ST will buy many more properties & they can keep tweeting & trending hashtags; the Tinubus have come to stay! |
I too hope she's okay? Sending love and light her way. That's how people said unpalatable things about Chadwick Bosman when paparazzi photos showed him looking unusually lean without knowing man was battling an illness quietly; sadly, he passed away and some of those people wished they knew better than troll him while he was alive but sick. |
Lies, lies and many more lies. He told you in confidence but you decided to come to the public with it; why didn't he narrate the harrowing experience himself, hmmm? Also, in a clime where almost everyone owns a smartphone, so, none of the well-meaning Nigerians who know "who he is" captured this purported harassment at the airport or the moment when they "raised their voices in protest"? Not even one person? It's either this purported harassment didn't take place & was just a routine and polite immigration process that didn't raise any dusts or there's more to the incident than PeteObi is letting on; probably playing on the emotional sentiments of his supporters knowing fully well they swallow whatever he says hook, line & sinker. Before you quote me, ask yourself if BAT or AA had been in Peter Obi's shoes per this purported incident, would you believe their own version of events? |
Is it that some of you just like bad news? Yes, the structure had construction workers on the topmost floor when it collapsed; it's very possible that they survived the disaster but not without injuries. When the agency saddled with emergency response in the state says no lives were lost why can't we just thank God for his mercies upon those workers instead of looking for dead bodies where there are none? |
Where's the correlation between the headline & content of the report? |
Thought I was going to dislike the movie but once I clikced that play button, I couldn't stop till the end. The storyline was fantastic, acting topnotch & just like the reviewer said, Tobi Bakre gave an award winning performance. Chioma Chukwuka ate her role effortlessly underscoring her legendary status & Tayo Faniran? He was the surprise package for me (with those his dark curly hair) not forgetting Chike too, who may just find himself notching more acting roles. Bimbo Ademoye's Teni character was unnecessary in my opinion; take her character out of the movie & you wouldn't even miss her absence. Overall, Gangs of Lagos makes a delightful watch & worth every minute of its runtime. |
Omo, I thought we'd it so bad growing up but this revelation by Aisha Yesufu? Makes me realise that no matter what you're going through, someone else is going through something even more worst. We'd a TV (black and white) & I watched Checkmate on it every Thursday night by 8p.m (if memory serves me correctly). |
LMAO. |
Please, when anyone sees Natasha Akpoti in the video, they should quote me because e be like my phone na made in Venezuela; e no dey show people clearly. Thank you in advance. |
PUNCH says no arrests have been made nine months after the Owo gruesome attacks but the same newspaper & other reputable media went to press quoting the CDS, Gen. Irabor as saying that some suspects were arrested in connection with the attacks.

HONESTFACT101:That's the spirit; I voted LP not because I believed the candidate is the best or I'm an "Obidient" but to satisfy my conscience. After OBJ's 8 years in office as President & now PYO about to complete 8 years as. Vice President, it was only fair that if power MUST return to the South, any other region apart from the SW should've a go at it even if I don't believe in the capacity of the candidate. Most importantly, I wasn't about to go against my Father's in the faith; they're not perfect & make mistakes as humans but most of them warned us in 2015 but we refused to listen and even though PMB has tried his best esp in infrastructure, diversification of the economy, upgrading & funding of our Armed Forces just to mention a few, we all are witnesses to how insecurity assumed a frightening dimension under this administration & the economy taking a nosedive. I wasn't about to ignore their admonitions this time around after all if PO had won & goes on to perform wonders, it would all be to our betterment same as if the man who has been declared winner now goes on to perform well, Nigerians will be better for it. |
Happy birthday to the legend, actor extraordinaire & elder statesman. While I could relate to his grievances partaining to the fuel scarcity crises, cash crunch crises & insecurity among others, I disagree with his grievances about the "election or selection" as he put it. While the elections weren't close to perfection, any assertion claiming the entire process was fraught with irregularities because one particular candidate that they were all supporting didn't win is faulty; any doubt about the integrity of the elections in one candidate's strong area while neglecting to also impugn the integrity of same in another candidate's strong area is an indication of bias. You can't agree that one particular candidate ought to score close to 99% of total valid votes cast in their strong areas & upholding same to be a true reflection of the voters'choice there but turnaround to fault another candidate's election in their own strong area where they scored probably between 50-80 per cent of the total valid votes cast there. Afterall, what's sauce for the Goose is also sauce for the Gander. |
Narcissist /ˈnɑːsɪsɪst/ noun ~ a person who has an excessive interest in or admiration of themselves. Narcissistic personality disorder is a mental health condition in which people have an unreasonably high sense of their own importance. They need and seek too much attention and want people to admire them. People with this disorder may lack the ability to understand or care about the feelings of others. But behind this mask of extreme confidence, they are not sure of their self-worth and are easily upset by the slightest criticism (Source: Mayo Clinic Online). Case closed. |
The delusions of grandeur! Please, where's the copy cat? Even a blind person can see from the Omo-Agege photo that he & his security aides were not pleased with the guy standing in front of the vehicle; methinks the guy wanted to copy the dude from Lagos with the hopes that fortune will smile on him too as it did to the Lagos dude but Omo-Agege was having none of it. |
Oshiomhole sabi dis Naija political game sha. See as he fingered the peoples' ears with sweet words. Well, let's see if the people will retain PDP in the State House of Assembly elections or they'll replace them with APC & LP candidates. Meanwhile, PDP will regret the day it admitted Obaseki into its fold; when Wike said betrayal was in his DNA, many people crucified him but it's now clear as daylight that the incumbent Edo governor is on track to bring the party to its knees in the state before crossing over to LP. |
Lol. AriseTV getting a dose of its own medicine of sensational reporting. |
LMAO! This same trade depot? I am not surprised. |
Dejavuetall:I suspect he's on permanent retainership by Tinubu; man probably has won more election petition cases in Nigeria than any other lawyer since 1999. |
You see that Lateef Fagbemi, Akin Olujimi & Wole Olanipekun? Fear those three SANs; between them, they've some of, if not the most successful rate of victory at Election Tribunals than any other lawyer. Meanwhile, it appears Muiz Banire (SAN) has returned to the Tinubu political dynasty & what in Pete's name is former Bauchi State Governor Mohammed Abubakar doing on that list? Man decamped to PDP about a week to the Presidential polls na so what's his name doing there? |
Dem don put Sanwo-Olu on over-drive mode. Man has been on the news on per seconds basis; I really hope he wins a second term otherwise, the heartbreak 💔 will be too much for him to bear. |
"women can be very emotional" says the man who's nothing but a Simp & emotional too. You talk everyday for the past sox years, in your own words "I love her...", already looking forward to having sex with her & she knows you're coming back home to find a wife? Mr. Man, just admit it; you either have self-esteem issues, love this lady very dearly but in denial or you're confused & don't know what you want. If she's not good enough for you to marry, please, keep the friendship without sex, don't toy with her emotions & henceforth, stop divulging your wife search moves to her. |
Atiku also won. Kwankwaso too won. Yet, in their wisdom they (LPDP) held a joint conference calling for cancellation of the entire election. Anyways, I wish them good luck as they head to court in a bid to prove they each won the elections. Until then, we go dey chop agbado ati ewa with correct goat meat. |
Please, can anyone show me which specific section of the Electoral Act 2022 mentioned electronic transmission of results? I've read relevant sections of the copy of the Act which was signed into law by PMB yet, didn't find any mention of electronic transmission! Senate President in a widely circulated video also confirmed that there's no provision for e-transmission of results in the Act but LP & PDP as well as some political pundits keep mentioning that INEC violated the law by not transmitting the results electronically so I ask again, please can anyone point out the specific section (s) of the EA 2022 that proves INEC did wrong? Thank you. |
