My thinking is: 4 occupants in front (1 to the drivers left & two to the right) 4 occupants in the back. 4 occupants packed in the boot. Total 12. If indeed an occupant is missing, it means there were either 5 occupants in the back or 5 in the boot. Those guys don't value their lives especially along that Kano route; it's common sight to see over loaded vehicles on that route. BeuHarry: |
Over loaded vehicle. Under normal circumstances, such a vehicle shouldn't take more than 6 occupants including the driver but here it was, occupied by probably 12 or even 13 persons (3 rescued alive, 9 confirmed dead at hospital & possible 1 occupant unaccounted for yet). FRSC and other relevant agencies have failed in their duties in this regards. |
It's okay for Rufai to openly show his bias in support of one presidential candidate but it's not okay for Abati to do same? Issorait. |
2007 presidential elections had the major candidates from the North so, we can conveniently excuse that one. However, for 2011 the major candidates were Goodluck Jonathan (PDP) & Muhammadu Buhari (CPC) In that election, the Southwest cast a combined vote of 2.78m for PDP, while CPC got a total 321,618. Nuhu Ribadu of then ACN got a bloc vote of 1.36m from the region. Voter turnout for entire southwest was 32.9%. In 2015, PDP which fielded Jonathan garnered a total votes of approx. 1.8m from Southwest while APC (Buhari) received 2.4m votes approx. Now, your comment states that "...Yorubas as a people has never voted any southern candidate completely who is not from their tribe" & my question to you is since 2007, how many Yoruba politicians of note were on the ballot? And for the southsouth which you so boldly claim; since 2007, how many votes did you guys cast for presidential candidates who were not from your region? It's a known fact that Yorubas vehemently rejected Obasanjo in the 1999 & 2003 presidential polls so much that during the latter, he'd to cut deals with Afenifere & then AD (or was it already AC then) to support his candidature; that was the election that launched Tinubu to prominence as he was able to see through Baba's deception as he was the only one among Southwest governors that survived PDP's political onslaught. You are within your rights to not support a Yoruba presidential candidate but do so without casting aspersions on an entire ethnic group as what you accused the Yorubas of may also be said of your Bini people as well. Cheers. MrNice04: |
Some of you still don't get it; there's a huge possibility that the "youths" who registered during the last round of CVR are students & if you've seen the academic calendar of majority of the public universities, you'll notice there's no break when the 2023 general elections (Feb 25) will take place. If that's really the case, it means many students will be away from their polling units thereby denying them the opportunity to exercise their right to vote; coupled with the economic realities on ground, how many of such students have money to travel (to & fro) to their respective polling units & how much more would be willing to take the risk (hopefully the security situation on our roads would've gotten better by then). |

A project PDP spent 16 years using as a campaign tool. It's well. |
The idea that a vote for either Tinubu or Atiku is a vote against Nigeria's future is a blackmail that won't work; same applies to the claim that anyone who votes for either candidates has been paid to do so. There's absolutely no foolproof guarantee that either of Atiku, Obi, Kwankwaso or Tinubu is the saviour we need so all the projection that one man wields the wand to solve all our problems while the others are going there for their own selfish interests is also a fallacy. At the end of the day, only one man will emerge winner & that'll be the person majority of Nigerian voters cast their ballots for be it Kwankwaso, Obi, Atiku or Tinubu. |
Greenfaces:Bad is an understatement. Abuja to Zaria before that used to take max 3hrs 20mins now takes nothing < 6hrs with prayer & fasting. |
You see that scrapping they did ehn, that's what made driving that route hellish for motorists. The security fear is understandable but motorists are the ones bearing the brunt. Twoclans: |
temitimx19:I traveled through that route Sunday evening & it wasn't this bad inspite the rain that fell that day. From indications, the Abuja-Kaduna section of that expressway has been abandoned by Julius Berger. |
Omo, I was caught in this traffic logjam & it wasn't even funny. Between Rijana & just before Jere, we spent close to 4hrs trapped in between articulated vehicles, meandering through bush parts & what not; it was a miracle & thanks to the driver that we didn't spend any more time than we already had on that road. |
That Gandollar scandal really ruined Ganduje's reputation otherwise, he would easily make top 5 Nigerian governors making an indelible mark on infrastructure developments. If you don't see this project physically, trust me, you won't appreciate what Gov. Ganduje did at that place. |
Omihanifa:On the contrary, walkie talkies don't require masts in order to work. You can bemoan the security situation without spicing it with incorrect information. |
Advice like this is what makes one proud of NL forum members sometimes. This is spot on and needs no further subtraction or addition. spice123: |
Thank you very much for this information. Best wishes. EgunMogaji2: |
Good evening. Please, what's the best ATF to use for a Mercedes Benz (2010) GL450? I want to replace the gear oil for the first time & unsure which is best before the mechanic will just use anyone. Thanks. |
Mhistaedie01:The thing shock me too. I buy bananas every other night from those women who sell bananas, groudnuts, cucumber, etc around Udo Udoma traffic light & honestly, highest this would be sold for is N300. |
Lol... Only if the OP could state precisely where he bought the groundnuts & bananas in Uyo otherwise, this is one fat LIE! One of the cheapest fruits one can buy in Uyo is Banana & no matter how "expensive" it is, the quantity for N400 is more than this. |
Gov. Wike doesn't rate Sanwo-Olu at all if anything, this is an outright "insult" to the Lagos governor. |
Is it only soldiers? Have members of the police force been paid too? A country that jokes with the welfare of its security personnel is only stoking the flames of insecurity further. |
Smh. You just can't whip out your phone & start recording someone else minding their business coz "this is America & I'm an American". If a famous white dude with W&CP was about grabbing something to eat & an unknown African American just starts to record him coz he's famous & inspite of his pleas to desist, he insists on being "foolish", he could end up with a bullet in his skull. Meanwhile, see how ordinary Aregbe looks in another man's country where the law is no respecter of persons & personality. If this were Nigeria, the guy wouldn't have gotten so close in the first place before he would've been landed dirty slaps & blows by the minister's security details. |
Majority of our politicians & their spouses are useless beings. So, Oyetola's wife couldn't hold her portable hand fan: a police orderly had to hold it while she casted her vote. Tueh. Come on small waka from their vehicle to the polling unit, she'd to step out with a hand fan as if she can't bear a few minutes of "discomfort". |
Red cup sipping addict. |
The name Tambuwal is now synonymous with treachery. He did it to PDP first, when in a high profile move alongside Saraki, defected to APC from PDP; then he did it to Gbajabiamilia & APC before finally carrying out his ultimate treachery yet - stabbing his biggest financier, colleague & "friend", Wike in the back. Tambuwal doesn't know loyalty & if his antecedents are to go by, a snake will form a better bed mate than the Sokoto governor because with the former, you know it's dangerous & can anticipate its move but with the latter? You never know where he truly stands till the nick of time when he bares his poisonuous fang to strike. |
I remember when FFK once claimed that Rochas Okorocha used his legs for "money ritual" causing them to have decayed and dared the then Imo State Governor to prove him wrong by lifting his trousers up. |
If the reconciliation is genuine albeit temporary, it'll give alot of people sleepless nights. Congratulations to Oyetola & Aregbesola for burying the hatchet, apparently. |
plat0:Oh! I don't even know the location of his private residence nonetheless, thanks for the clarification. |
Is Rivers Government House currently undergoing some spiritual cleansing or fumigation because this is the second politician visiting Gov. Wike and unlike in the past where photographs of such high profile visitors with the governor are taken inside the GH, both photos released shows they were taken outdoors. |
See ehn, when Naija politicians "ba lu e ni jibiti", you go turn philosopher by force just like Moghalu; man was looking all set to fly the flag of his party in the next general elections till Naija politics showed him its true colours. Another person who must be reeling from shock of the aftermath of Naija politics jamming him is Osinbajo: he couldn't have imagined that with all his grammar, appealing personality, bravado, incumbency & media visibility, he would come a distant 3rd to his political benefactor. |
Scam. Baba wan use him phantom "25 million" supporters take negotiate him future for APC. |
Anyone that desires to retain whatever's left of their sanity should remain wherever they're until Thursday; Tuesday & Wednesday should've been declared work-free days for civil servants in the FCT because the type of traffic jam this special convention is causing is more than enough to "kill" any prospects of productivity at work. |
