U still have not answered the question who is going to build the airport if not LASG.
Your argument lack credibility if you honestly believe say Lagos state government is funding the new airport.

let them fix the existing one,
Who is them? Must you you guys repeat the same bogus statement?

Its quite appalling that some posters on this thread do not understand that State Governments have no jurisdiction over the Federal Government property. MMA is being run by the Federal Govt. The Lasg cannot put toilet paper in the toilet because it is Federal Govt Property. Secondly Lasg is not building this new Airport, it is going to be built and run by a private company with expertise in the required area. The state govt will only provide a conducive environment for the Airport to be built. An agreement will be made between the State govt and the private company to run the Airport for a number of years after which it be will be handed over back to the Govt.

PoliticsRe: Do We Need Another International Airport In Lagos ? by babapupa: 11:46pm On Oct 12, 2009
It beast me why some of you are still talking about the dirty old and useless MMA.

The rotten airport doesn't belong to the state gov' and they have zero jurisdiction to mess with it.

MMA belongs to the federal government and the place is a shit hole for a reason and the reason is, it belongs to the federal government of Nigeria.

One more time, stop repeating the same useless argument about Fashola wasting money, it's his job to seek investments and jobs for his state, he took an oath to do just that.

He's not spending the state's money on any of these projects.

One more time for the slow people, by law,  he can not re-paint MMA talk less renovate it and MMA is non of his business.

We didn't elect him to cater to federal government's neglects and lousy infrastructures, we elect him to move the state forward, not backward.

Lastly, don't access the new airport if you no like, no be by force.

We need a new airport for a whole lot of reasons and weda you like or you no like, we're getting it.

Permit me to begin by stating my sympathy for Dr Mabayoje.

The problem I have with Sahara Reporters is that it behaves as if the name should be more appropriately, Yoruba Reporters. Every accused Yoruba is innocent and a saint, and every Igbo accused is guilty and evil. Sahara Reporters behave as if photocopying a few documents here and there, proves exegetically, guilt or innocence. Perhaps this doctor is not guilty as alleged, but the courts should decide.

A skeptic can ask, why did the doctor bring back hunting paraphernalia instead of medicine to cure diabetes and cancer? We don't need doctor marksman that can take out crocodiles, we need healers. And professionals in diaspora should not go thinking, just going home is an act of patriotism. I want to restore my respect for SaharaReporters, please stop judging things based on one side of the story. Nigeria is bad, let's fix it together. Nigeria has been bad for a long time.

PoliticsRe: Akala Creates Lucrative Jobs For Oyo Graduates by babapupa: 3:58pm On Oct 11, 2009
@Princek12.
I see you have issue with Ibadan people and Akala has given you the perfect opportunity to settle your scores. Akala is a bad governor and everybody that has responded to this post affirms this. However, whatever issues you have with Ibadan people, you should have tried to state your opinion rather than trying to distort facts about Ibadan people in your post. Akala is not from Ibadan. He came into office after the controversial votes from Ogbomosho and Oke Ogun were declared valid at the appeal court. Ibadan people massively voted against his candidacy. If only our votes count in this country, Akala will not be in office today.

The candidates from Ibadan were Senator Ajimobi (ANPP) and Prof. Taoheed Adedoja (AC) both of these are graduates. Contrary to your distorted fact that the only graduate governor in Oyo state was Bola Ige, may I remind you that Dr. Omololu Olunloyo, Lam Adesina and Rasheed Ladoja  (all whom you call illiterates) are all graduates from Ibadan.  If you follow Oyo politics as well as you pretend to do, you'll definitely know that it was the do or die and Godfather politics of the PDP that imposed Akala on Ibadan and the people of Oyo state. This was a mas that was dismissed from the police for gun running and aiding armed robbers. Yet he was "elected a state gov.

Ibadan people are not the best educated in Nigeria but definitely would not be found among the most backward and unexposed as you claim. By the way, our president and vice president are both graduates and I don't think they are governing Nigeria better than Akala is doing in Oyo state, afterall literacy does not automatically translate into good governance. Akala's debacle is not an excuse for anybody to summarily dismiss Ibadan people as backward people.
The most thoughtful and sensible post in this thread.

You really can't fault these guys, they all are sad products of their bigoted and tribalistic environment. Most of them have substituted common sense and knowledge with insane arguments and absurdities.

PoliticsYoruba Week. Yoruba Community Donates Equipment To Hospitals In Akwa Ibom State. by babapupa(op): 7:24pm On Oct 10, 2009
As part of activities marking the Yoruba week in Akwa Ibom State, the Yoruba community in the state has donated medical equipment worth millions of naira to two health institutions .
The equipment, including bedside lockers, wheel chairs and other items were donated to the management of Akaida-ayoh health centre in Uyo local government and Emmanuel General Hospital in Eket. President General of the Yoruba Consultative Council (YCC) in Akwa Ibom, Dr. Isaac Ayandele, said the gesture was in line with the culture and tradition of the Yoruba people to make beautiful impact in any society they find themselves. Ayandele said the gift items were also donated to appreciate the state governor, Godswill Akpabio, for creating an enabling environment for his people to make them record success in their business.
Primary health care coordinator of Uyo local government, Mrs. Cecelia Ekanem, who received the items on behalf of the council chairman, Dr. Chris Nyong, said the gesture came at the right time as the health centre was almost empty, stressing that with the donation, the place would be revived.
Ekanem who could not hide her joy said the Yoruba Consultative Council has not made mistake for choosing Uyo Local Government as one of the beneficiaries of the items on his part, Chief of Akaida-Ayoh, Elder Ntisu Umorem, said the gesture did not caught him as a surprise, reflecting that the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo , in his life time, fought for the autonomy of local government in Nigeria.

Ok

I don't necessarily have a problem with rebuilding Lagos but why everything has to be done on the island is what I don't quite understand. Other parts of Lagos state as a whole also need developing. The end result of this sort of development is the concentration of high-priced, unaffordable, buildings at the neglect of other impoverished areas.

PoliticsRe: What If Zik Was Like Awolowo ? by babapupa: 7:53pm On Sep 30, 2009
lol @ cry baby cut and paste,

All that matters,

[b]Suffice it to say, that Awolowo as government leader in 1951 had the opportunity to put into reality his political programme. Between 1951 and 1956 during his first administration, he transformed Western Nigeria. This was through massive infrastructural and social development, including the building of the first modern stadium, several hospitals, schools and colleges, farm settlements as demonstrative farming schemes to show to peasant farmers that farming needs not be by illiterates and that farming could be mechanised and modernised to remove the tedium of back breaking cutlass and hoe farming of Nigerian peasants.

To crown his scheme of transformation, he introduced universal and compulsory free primary education in Western Nigeria in 1955. He did this after a well thought out committee report which linked development all over the world with rapid progress in education. Awolowo was persuaded that the genius of man can only be released through education and that of all resources a state may have, none is greater than human resources. A large population without education, he argued, will no doubt be a drag on development. But when properly educated, an educated citizen was the best capital a State can have.

Is it not an indictment on your leaders that they are useless and you have to step outside of your region to get a credible Nigerian to talk and negotiate for the whole region?

And after it's all said and done, the useless and incompetent people remains behind the desk to loot and fleece what ever dividends the talks generates.

What if I told you that Zik did not make that choice to go with the North willingly? What if I told you that documents have recently come to light that show that Zik was being blackrmailed by the British since at least 1956 with the threat of jail for stealing money from ACB (African Continental Bank) for his party?

What if I told you that NCNC won the elections of 1959 into the Federal Parliamenthuh What if I told you that this same Zik should have been Prime Minister instead of the ceremonial President he became, but he had to let the British rig the election, the population figures and accept the office for fear of going to jail?

A deluded monkey such as could not even discern from the article you copied and posted was not referring to the regional independence as regions becoming independent sovereign nations.

But it was intended to cede autonomous powers to regions so as to conduct the affairs of the regions independent of the government at the center. However, by the time the 1954 constitutional conference was concluded, the attendees had agreed on the principles of devolution of powers between central and regional government hence federalism.

I suggest that a latent idiot such as you should endeavor to read beyond tribal line about Nigerian politics. Anyway, advising a fool is like beating the air with a stick.

How about the crooks outside. . . . . those ones that have held Nigeria hostage for sooooo long! Those ones that created all the nonsensities like federal character, Land Use decree, etc all for their own regiono-selfish benefits!

Truth is. . . this Niger Delta crises will keep burning expansively until it gets to the seat of those external oppressors.

Justice is easy and as soon as justice is applied, peace will reign in the region and Nigeria will be better for it.
We're talkin g about ND, not the rest of Nigeria because the rest on Nigeria is not running around killing and kidnapping people.

Ignore the cancer at home and do whatever you want to the so called outside external oppressors, the cancer shall remain and continue to plague the delta because your enemy is within, they are your brothers and sisters and every penny sent to the delta still got to go trough the same bad cancerous people and get looted just like they did yesterday, last month, last year and last decade.

Finding a lasting solution to the problems in the delta should obviously start from home, you can not lay your bed on top of filth because sooner or later, the filth go seep out and stink you up all over again. It's basic common sense.  Just like the rest of naija, we do things the wrong way.

Start from home and quit wasting people's time and shedding innocent people's blood.

Beaf-

abeg spare me the Abuja nonsense and your hypocrisy. So why not take your struggle to abuja and blow them up? why innocent people? You blame abuja for every dam thing but will never go to abuja, not even to take a stroll.

Ibori is still working around without a single scratch on him.

Alamso is still walking around without a single scratch on him

Odili is still walking around without a single scratch on him

And you're telling me it's ok to kill people who didn't touch a single ND penny? It's ok to shed their blood for the sins your own leaders committed.

Who took oaths to serve, protect and look after your safety and derelict instead of fulfilling their oaths?
