rotecch77: Ok let’s use 100m2 of both wall and floor tiles as case study.
WALL TILING Using of normal OPC cement for the job Let’s assumed your wall is in a well level gauge.
No of cement(50kg) 20bag*3000=60,000 Plaster sand 2.5 tones —————-10,000 Total ——————N70,000.
FLOOR TILING Assumed the floor is well balance No of cement (50kg)40*3000=120,000 Sharp sand 20 tones ————-50,000 Total —————-N170,000
In summary If it’s Wall tiling it will cost you some of N70,000( to cover 100m2 area.
If it’s floor tiling it floor tiling it will cost you some of N170,000 to cover 100m2 area.
Adhesive/ super fix -No sand needed for the wall here. -We are using good product of 2500 per 20kg here. Calculation 100m2 area. WALL Nos of superfix(20kg)45bags*2500=112,500 FLOOR Sand is needed here as leveling to desired height with normal OPC cement and this most be done earlier before using of this superfix.
Nos super-fix (20kg) 50bags*2500=125,000 Sand is need here
Sand 20 tones======N50,000 Cement 30bags*3000=N90,000 Total=N265,000
Summary of superfix-Wall. N112,500 Floor N265,000 Total N377,500 Beautifully done. Thanks for taking out your time to respond to this. It is very well appreciated!! |

rotecch77: I do use the adhesive for mosaic work or marble price ranges from N2000-N3000 per 20kg for good product, they are lesser one like 1200 or so but they are not that good. And you can’t mix it sand
So in conclusion it’s not cheaper So, just to clarify both for me and other interested parties looking at this.. Since supafix doesn't need sand, the cost of cement and sand for a typical tiling work is still lower than the cost of supafix? Do you mind responding in numbers say for a job totalling 100 sqm. Thank you! |

Have you used the supafix adhesive in your projects before or have you seen it being used before. I am curious about how the job turned out.
Also, is it cheaper to use the supafix than cement?
With the higher price of cement now, I know folks would appreciate another reliable alternative to bypass use of cement in certain aspects of building that generally people use cement. |

I have just finished doing the oversite on my foundation (German floor). 5" thick .
However I noticed , I will need some adjustment during block forming.
My question is, can a wall run outside of the foundation ground partition ? This is because I intend to steal a foot space .
Thanks |

One4me: If it is 'a share' they are after, maybe that can be arraigned but you will be shocked to hear that the moment you start your Refuse Management Company, one 'Big Man Politician' from somewhere will suddenly realise you are making money from it and then decide to use his children or a front to setup a sham Refuse management Company and INSIST that ONLY THAT COMPANY can do refuse Management Business in that state, and your Company is ruined. The difference between "lobbying " in 9ja vs Lobbying in abroad is.. In the western world, say you want legislatures to massage the law to accommodate your business interest or you need the municipal to change the zoning law, you could hire a "lobbying " firm to "straighten out the lawmakers" have them looking in the right direction. The Place rezoned or the law tweaked then you move on with your project- money well spent on the lobbying firm. In 9ja, they hold you hostage. No kidding! Even if you massage the current government. New government comes in, they want more. One of the sure ways out of this is to align yourself with a political godfather or a well respected traditional ruler and " pay your dues". In Nigeria where a government will approve a building plan, people erect their building, few years later, they come around and declare the same building they approved as an illegal structure. Opportunities abound in Nigeria but like I tell everyone.. if you want to invest in 9ja, forget about all those Tedx talks, all those seminars, consumer reports, Bloomberg, all those things you learnt in economics 101, edx short courses, you name it.... Investing in 9ja requires a boots on the ground, bare knuckle approach. Don't use your "book sense", use your " street sense ". Use A " bare knuckle " economics while investing in 9ja. |

Focusmind: Opportunities abound but fear of risk and uncertainty is holding people down. Take a global perspective, a lot of investors sees Nigeria as a good place to invest but fear of unknown makes the final investment decision impossible or delayed
A finance company in London, where a friend works did an investment survey and found the Nigerian market buoyant, but fear of uncertainty and country risk were too high that they jettisoned the idea.
To tell you how far foreign investors takes risk seriously, they follow citizens discussions about the country on their own social media. They followed Nigeria and Nigerians to get perspectives and views about the people and the country. Some are even registered on Nairaland. Well said, the problem with investing in Nigeria is uncertainty. Although this comes with the territory but Nigeria's level of uncertainty is times 1000x. Think of building a house, even if you secure a loan to put up a project, dollar will move from N350 to N351 and 1 bag of cement will jump from N2,000 to N2,900. Even our mothers selling pumpkin leaves , pepper and tomatoes will jack up the prices by 100%. The level of price inflation in Nigeria is beyond economics. You can't plan for nothing, price increase here and there... Also, you hire someone for a job, they start work and then in the middle stops to renegotiate their contract, then skips town.. you have to chase them around to come and complete the job sometimes involve police, kinsmen etc. And remember if you took out a loan for the project, while you were chasing the person around, materials are adding money, your interest is piling up and you might end up hiring another person to finish the job, project will end up over budget and the loan would finish before the project is completed because of numerous uncertainties. Doing a project in Nigeria is just like open up your wallet and spend until it is completed.. don't even stop to think economics, economics of scale, all those things you learnt on economics 101 doesn't work in Nigerian setting. I am yet to do a housing project in 9ja where I purchased cement and rod the same price from start of the project to finish . I once had an idea together with some partners to start up a waste management style of company. Waste management is big company in the U.S and possibly multinational. Got funding to start up, partners all lined up every thing all straightened out but the government authorities from state to the councilor, everyone wants to be settled, one even want in on the profit like a decent size cut, I thought he meant he wants to buy in as a partner but even as a local man like myself that grew up in 9ja, I was dumbfounded when he said, that’s his share. O boy, I was very furious which kind talk be that?? Are you normal? Whenever I am in Nigeria, all I am seeing is money money opportunities opportunities but people are focused on "oyel" oil oil. Waste management is multi billion dollar corporation in the U.S. The uncertainty is just too much. The housing projects I am involved in, I just close eye to do it, the rate prices increases is just ridiculous! |

This was the alternate. Hmm... not bad either. This is really good craftsmanship..nothing earth shattering there but some local fabricators will throw a fit when you present this job to them.
