See better country. They've sharply allocated $56Million for restoration. If na Nigeria, that cathedral don turn to home for agberos cherriton12: A fire that engulfed the French medieval cathedral of Notre-Dame has been fully extinguished after over nine hours of fighting, the Paris Fire Brigade has announced.
“After more than 9 hours of fierce fighting, nearly 400 firefighters from Paris extinguished the appalling fire. 2 policemen and a firefighter were slightly injured,” the fire service said in a tweet on Tuesday.
It said the main structure of the 850-year-old Gothic cathedral had been “saved and the main works of art have been put somewhere safe, thanks to the combined action of the different services of the State working together.”The fire began at around 18:30 (16:30 GMT) on Monday and quickly tore through the cathedral’s timbered roofing, where renovation work was underway. The blaze destroyed stained-glass windows and the wooden interior before firefighters could contain it.
Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron, who called the fire a “terrible tragedy,” said the worst had been avoided.
Macron also announced an international fundraising campaign to raise money for the rebuilding of the world-famous French landmark.
“We will rebuild it together. It will undoubtedly be part of French destiny and our project for the years to come,” Macron said outside the cathedral.Firefighters look at a fire at the landmark Notre-Dame Cathedral in central Paris as they cross the Archeveche Bridge on the Seine River on April 15, 2019. (Photo by AFP) Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo also announced a contribution of 50 million euros (56 million dollars) from the city for the restoration of the cathedral, which he estimated to cost hundreds of millions of euros.
French billionaire Bernard Arnault, who runs the multinational luxury goods conglomerate LVMH, also pledged a total of 200 million euros (226 million dollars) from his family and company to help rebuild "this extraordinary cathedral, a symbol of France, its heritage and its unity."
A French charity that works to protect the country’s heritage, Fondation du Patrimoine, is launching an international appeal to raise funds.
The Paris prosecutor’s office said it had launched an investigation into the cause of the incident, which according to several police sources was “accidental.” Paris’s Notre-Dame Cathedral has gone up in flames, leaving the nation awestruck and prompting fears that the historic structure could suffer unprecedented damage.
The blaze erupted at around 16:30 GMT on Monday, causing the wood-and-lead spire to collapse onto the roof. Locals have been reported by various news agencies as saying that the entire rooftop has been destroyed in the fire.
Nobody was injured, Junior Interior Minister Laurent Nunez told Reuters at the scene.
"It's too early to determine the causes of the fire," he added, but France 2 television reported that the police were treating it as an accident.
The inferno broke out while the structure was undergoing renovation. https://www.worldnews.com.ng/2019/04/frances-iconic-notre-dame-cathedral.html |

It is worthy of note that fire outbreaks in Rural areas are very vicious because they tend to wreak more havoc due to the absence of fire fighting machinery, leaving the locals to fight fire with crude buckets and water.

Politics › Re: Buratai Explains Why Army Created Female Corps by bigtt76(f): 12:02pm On Apr 10, 2019 |
Naija Feminists would soon come for this one 9Ebiscoo: The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, has explained that the Nigerian Army Women Corps (NAWC) concept was to harness the potentials of female officers and soldiers to build a force ready to support army operations and engagements.
Buratai stated this on Tuesday in Jos, in a keynote address at the maiden “Nigerian Army Women Corps Training Week.”
He noted that events in the country had shown the imperatives of constantly improving security apparatus which was one of the major policy thrust of the current administration.
This, he said underscored the need to get all hands on deck, irrespective of gender to strengthen the security of the country.
“This calls for adequate training facilities and strategies to improve the fighting efficiency of all military units.
“The dynamics of army operations in this dispensation are such that the female personnel cannot be left behind.
“They are vital to the attainment of the army’s operational objectives especially in the North East where women and girls, involved in insurgencies as either victims or villains, require specific female attention.
“There is no gainsaying the fact that there are some military operations such as psychological operations, in which the female officers and soldiers by their gender excel over men,” he said.
According to Buratai, the army is set to take advantage of this unique nature of the female personnel.
He, however, said that to effectively fulfill that requirement, the female personnel need to be brought up to speed through deliberate training to build their fighting capacity and competence.
He said the female corps was faced with daunting challenges which include effective training of its personnel.
Buratai said the theme of the three-day training, “Building the Fighting Capacity of Nigerian Army Female Personnel for Enhanced Support of Operational Engagements”, was timely.
“This is especially so because the NAWC is still in its infancy and has the liberty of evolving its own unique training programme that will take it to the desired heights.”
He noted that their position in the army, in the face of ongoing operations against insurgencies and other engagements of the army in the country was strategic.
The army chief called for attitudinal change towards the female personnel to build their confidence and motivate them to put in their best.
He added that there must be complete re-orientation on how female soldiers are perceived within the military.
“They should not be seen as being merely decorative or passive. They should rather be viewed as viable tools for achieving operational goals just like their male counterparts.
“I urge you all to see the female personnel for who they are; normal, capable and competent soldiers. Let us all remember that Joan of Arc and Queen Amina of Zaria were sound warriors despite their gender.
“Though one was of European origin and the other Nigerian, the fact that they both excelled as soldiers and commanders in the defence of their nations underscores the universal nature of the phenomenon.
“We should never lose sight of this historical fact but rather build on it and avail ourselves of the invaluable qualities of our female colleagues,” Buratai said.

Is this against 2023? Zeemam: Someone once said and I see now; that Atiku is a very desperate man. This statement was long before elections, and this is someone who once worked closely with him, so he knows. The problem with a desperate man is that he doesn't mind the sky falling, even if he knows it will fall on all including himself and his followers.
How else do you explain these posters adorning FCT except that he is intentional in his bid to disrupt the peace of the country? If I can't govern Nigeria, then it must become ungovernable right?
Post election posters saying of Atiku, “the real and the right”. The real what? The real loser it must be, cause it can't be saying the real President. The right? The right man to help waste his money, definitely not the right man for the Villa. This is not only tasteless and tactless, it is knocking the door of treason. |

In other words, report ya sef Nollyzonenews: The Acting Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu has called on bankers in Maiduguri, Borno State to ensure that they comply with the Money Laundering Act, and report to the anti-graft agency, any person(s) moving cash above the allowed threshold.
Magu gave the charge on Monday, April 8, 2019 during an interactive session with the Chief Compliance Officers of banks.
According to Magu, “Nobody should carry cash above the threshold of above N10 million for corporate organizations and N5 million for individuals; anything above the threshold must be routed through financial institutions.”
Magu also emphasized the role of Non-Governmental Organizations, NGOs in the North-East stressing that the EFCC will in the near future, begin the profiling of such organizations with a view of monitoring their financial activities.
He said: “We must profile all the NGOs in the North-East. I don’t know why an NGO will open more than 40 bank accounts.
“We are going to ask your various banks to give us statements of accounts for each and every NGO.
“The issue of money laundering, terrorist financing and leakage of information will be eliminated by the Commission with the help of bankers across the country.”
While answering question from a bank official, Magu said, “Aside from terrorist financing, the Commission is trailing the activities of ‘yahoo -yahoo boys’ on how victims were defrauded in the hands of those fraudsters by using latest technology. The Commission through the Nigerian Communications Commission is working assiduously to stop the menace”.

In order to earn a living, millions of Lagosians depart their homes before the break of dawn and return late at night.
This unhealthy routine makes it hard for millions of Lagosians to meet up with the recommended sleep duration.
See the National Sleep Foundation’s Recommended Sleep Duration HERE
Indeed, this sleepless lifestyle can have an adverse effect on one's health. Perhaps, this is the reason why life expectancy keeps dropping in this part of the world.
According to recent WHO data, the life expectancy in Nigeria is, unfortunately, the lowest in all of West Africa. According to the data, the average life expectancy is around 54.5 years of age, with men living an average of 53.7 years and women living an average of 55.4 years.
The easiest way to notice the sleeplessness of Lagosians is during their commute in commercial vehicles in the mornings.
Majority of them would be founding sleeping.

This is in fulfillment of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority requirement for training of firefighters in the airports and will, overall, enhance competence in achieving the primary objective of saving lives in the event of a fire incident.
The pre-shipment test, which took place in the United Kingdom Monday, showcased the full complements of about 28 possible fire/non fire scenarios carried out including; cabin fire simulation, cabin smoke, lavatory smoke and the likes.
Other simulation tests include DHC 8 starboard engine, DHC 8 starboard undercarriage, starboard side, CRJ-900 starboard engine, APU, portside, A320 Undercarriage, A320 Port engine, Port Wing, fuel spill burn pit, internal fires among the vast arrays of simulations it can imitate.
