The feedback I hear is that the local one are not good.

In engineering construction the only way to ascertain what is right is to take it to the lab and run the appropriate tests. Every other thing is opinion based. There was a time people use caliper to randomly check the size.

Hello House, my engineer gave a quote of 150k as cost of German floor for my foundation (15.5m x 11.6m). This cost will aso include foundation ramming. Is this fair?

Before you start having issues with your engineer or we come later hear say him no be engineer but baba lati........
Please can you drop the actual quote on how that sum would be spent by him or except he just gave you a lump sum figure.........

But to be honest it's hard to actually know where your role in his build is now that there is an issue..........

Contractor
Facilitator

Interestingly Bosun had a project supervisor that was on the clients pay roll who was on the site to check all that was done before we are cleared for concrete pour.

We never did anything unilaterally.

The supervisor was on the project from the very beginning of the project till end. He didn’t miss any part of the build and was around to ascertain the quality and probably quantities of materials at every stage of work.

The so called supervisor on the client's payroll if I get it right was brought by you and be it the client pays directly to him or indirectly through you then......

If that's the case then you are also responsible for whatever issues that is being dragged here with respect to the pipe blockage and substandard use of same.

The only way a pipe can be blocked is if concrete found its way into it which can only occur during when the decking was receiving concrete......

Yes it’s part of the Contract.
That’s why I’m wondering why you had to request for another quote amidst the contract for electrical pipe works.
It wasn’t as if we negotiated each stage of work separately. It was a turnkey project.



I never had to review my contract with you but you came with option quotes for the electrical pipe works and chose the least bid submitted by the subcontractors contacted.



The job was awarded to the contractor with the least bid.

Noted but I’m not the one who had to review a quote vetted by a QS amidst a project and chose to accept the least bid.

Please can you be so kind to tell the forum who actually was on site during the concrete pouring of the decking slab and was the person who did the piping also on site or who also actually okayed the piping works before the concrete pouring on the decking was commenced...........

The normal MEP is the one I gave to Twinskenny which in the process discovered that the pipes used during conduit piping were mostly inferior and blocked/wasted as seen in the link posted by @itsrm.

With regard to pipes been blocked......I guess it's the decking pipes
(1)Who was on site doing supervision of the casting of the decking slab.........
(2) What the man who did the piping also available when the decking was receiving cement.......

Those people do come with their molding tools and charge per bag.


They could spend weeks to mold just 100bags


Except the building project is an emergency, or the client insist otherwise or no space in the purported site/land for minimum setbacks I will always prefer hand mould blocks on site.

As regards the bold from what is obtainable with those who mould for me, the minimum a moulder moulds is 10 bags per day. So in moulding just 100 bags it will 2 moulders 5 days. Spyder880 have spoken concerning the type of sand to use to getting good blocks. Every location has good sand for making such and in some areas you'll have to mix 2 types of sand in the right proportion to get good blocks that will compete favourably with those so called vibrated blocks.

If you're moulding during the raining season ensure you have DPM so that it can be used to cover/shed the blocks from direct hit of rainfall. It's the duty of the moulders to cover it as long as you make the provision at least that's how it's been done by me with those I've been working with and in other areas I know.

Another factor that gives strength to the block is in how you go about doing the watering/sprinkling of the blocks as they set. Not many people pay much attention to this in it's initial stages under the right atmospheric conditions.

Not many people understands cutting costs in the built environment while still maintaining efficiency.

No offense intended but I really don't see accomplishing the bolded as a difficult task when the build is even on the same site. It's all about planning, management and workforce as long as the required funds are within reach.

We don dey use a mix of solignum, kerosene and condemned motor oil since 1759. If you're not in so much of a hurry apply it while the wood is on the ground and after 2-3 days you can start to use for your roofing work.

You need to be specific about your site location in the south east. There are distances and locations that you'll have to pay some abnormal fares. Somewhere in Oguta my client was offered #340K for 30 tons.
