An Igbo man, Zik refused to allow secsion clause be included in the constituion
An Igbo man , Zik refused to form coalition govt with Awolowo, instead went into coalition with the North.
An Igbo man, Ironsi created the unitrary system of govt which we are still suffering fom till this day

Yet despite all this the Igbos keep lying and blaming everyone else for the problems of Nigeria. Guys own up to the mistakes your people made and then reach out to other groups nicley with some modesty.

We TALK too much in the south. Let Buhari create his grazing routes in the south no wahala. By the time both the herdsmen and the cows start disappearing at the hands of 'unknown gunmen' nobody will need to tell them to stay away. We should reaply Buhari and the Fulani with the language they'll understand, not all this big grammar.

Eiyaah,
See how humble and considerate the incoming peaceful Sultan is. My heart is still in pieces after reading this emotional submission.
I believe the Good people of Ẹdo will do the right thing by allowing this peaceful Sultan to be coronated so as to prove to Nigeria and the world at large that they are not insecure or as intolerant as some group of people near them.
May God bless the proud People of Ẹdo
May God bless the Sultan of Ẹdo state
SAY NO TO XENOPHOBIA

I think all the tribes in Nigeria will attest to the fact that the Edo people are not xenophobic. We welcome all and are hostile to none, all we ask is that our traditions are respected. We have had Hausa and Fulani groups in out state for over 100's of years with no problem. My grandfather used to tell me tales of trading hides and skins with Northern traders as far back as 1920's.
With this clarification they have giving I see no reason why the event can't be rescheduled for a future date. The settled northern communities in Edo are a peaceful bunch. It's the new 'foreign' ones that are the problem.

Abbey117:
There is this lady who recently joined our organization. She caught my attention but I wanted to take things slow. Later I got to know that my other colleague at work had already spoken to this lady and they had been having serious romance. I had to cut off every affections though the lady in question and I later became best friends.

Fast forward to the present day, they broke up and the babe had been trying to gather herself. I cunningly asked her if she could work things out with the guy but she bluntly said no.

The issue here now is that I've been developing serious affection for her again though during our chats before their breakup I had told her I developed feelings for her but my other colleague was faster than I in approaching her of which she said I should have told her about it.

This lady ticks every boxes I want in a woman.

Kindly advice me...
As long as she had definitely broken up with ex, then she's a freebird and nothing stops you making your move.

Politics › Re: Breaking News: Wike Defies FG Signs VAT And Other Bills Into Law by bjdon: 2:55pm On Aug 19, 2021
FarahAideed:
Very reckless move by wike ...I hope this won't lead to double VAT taxation because it seems it's going to end up like that ...The Nigerian masses will bear the brunt of this and this may set a precedence for other governors going this way ...If the FG has not ceded VAT then there is not need for Wike to activate his ...this will only end up making the cost of service and good go up and the massed suffer more ..the transfer of VAT from FG to state must be done properly if not it will end up in a chaotic situation where consumers end up paying double VAT of 15 percent
Wike is totally in order. We are operating a Federal system, the FG can not be collecting VAT raised in the states. What the FG needs to do is establish it's own 'Federal taxes'. The more tax Nigerians have to pay, the more they will demand accountability from their leaders.

you are a tinubu fan o

What's the big deal about tinubu, is he most vibrant?

Youngest?

Least corrupt?

This country is forever screwed towards ethnic and religious divide

We told you Yoruba Muslim can't not become president because even north won't accept Northern Christian anywhere near presidency
Please learn to reason. You can check my past posts. I was one of the biggest critics of Tinubu during Obaseki's election. I am an Edo man and totally resented Tinubu trying to impose a candidate on us. I can never vote for Tinubu for President, seeing what he's done in Lagos. Having said that, he has EVERY right to contest as does ANY other southern muslim. it's for the people to accept or reject him. I can never support any move that significantly reduces the pool of available candidates. Left to me in 2023 it should be a completely open race, north, south all should throw their hat in, but the reality of Nigeria is that it will be a southerner. Let all southerners that want to contest be allowed to, and may the best man/woman win. That will ultimately be best for Nigeria.
Politics › Re: 2023: Tinubu’s Loyalists Kick, As APC Chiefs Want Christian Candidate From South by bjdon: 8:58am On Aug 18, 2021
I am no fan of Tinubu, but really we need to move forward in this country. If we accept the general unspoken rule of North-South zoning, that's enough. After that every and any southern politician who wants to contest for the presidency should put themselves forward regardless of their religion, or which part of the south they are from. We simply can't keep narrowing the pool of candidates.

Babangida can not lick the floor Buhari walks on. I am no fan of Buhari and I've attacked him intensely on here, but please nobody should try and compare Babangida and Buhari. Babangida totally and completely destroyed this country. All our institutions were destroyed by his misrule. Endemic corruption was rife, a president whose every word was a lie, a merciless killer who smiled with people in the daytime and had them killed at night. Those of us who lived through this tyrants administration will NEVER forgive or forget what he did.

Wow, so the 36 states can actually unite and agree on something. Who would have guessed. Shame they can't agree strategis to improve the life of their citizens, like provision of clean portable water, good schools, good hospitals...This suit is just so the states can get more money, which will end up in the governors bank accounts

Awoleesu:
Very sound write up!
The applaudable sense of history, the fluidity of flow of ideas, the erudition and most importantly the fine clarity of the message... O kare Lasisi omo Olagunju!

The problems I have with Southern Nigerians include the general tendency of some elements native to the zone to betray the collective interest of their own people under the guise of promoting a 'One Nigeria', which has not been known to ever skewed things in the region's favor. Also, the blatant lackadaisical attitude to political whims is a huge burden to this region! While their rival is planning, working out strategies to retain political power (including muzzling voices of dissenters and permanently silencing those who foresee their evil plans and mobilized against them), the average Southerner is only "waiting for 2023"... To do what exactly? Vote!? shocked

If the South doesn't close ranks and flag a movement in the similitude of the " Kaduna Mafia", by 2023 it might not just be too late... It may have just been forever!
The only upside from Buhari's misrule, is that is has ingrained such a deep anti nothern sentiment in the south, that be default not design a form of a southen unity has evolved. I see no way any Northerner can win a free and fair election in 2023. Even if the PDP and ACP both field Nothern candidates, the south will just sit at home and not vote. The wise Northerners know this, which is why I think they will go for either GEJ or Osinbanjo GEJ can only do 1 term so that works for them. Osinbajo does not have his own political strcuture, so they may use Buhari's nothern grassroot support, plust SW votes to get him in. He will be dependent on them knowing that if he moves aganst them, they withdraw support in 2027.

Beancounter94:
Naira was strong then because oil prices were high then and had been for 7 years

So we had enough forex to keep the naira buffered

Add the fact that our forex needs were not as high as they are now. ( The phone you use was imported with forex. In 1980 many Nigerians had never seen or used a phone)
In addition in the 70's and 80's we had an industrial base in Nigeira. If you take car's for example, most people either had a peugeot or VW, both of which were assembled in Nigeria. We had Thermolcool fridges and KDK fans all made in Nigeria. Dunlop tires all made in Nigeria. This reduced the need for FX for importnation and helped keep the value of Niara higher.
Politics › Re: Nigeria Going Back To 1980 – Sanusi by bjdon: 9:15am On Aug 15, 2021
The honest truth is that Nigeria NEVER made substantial progress since the 80's. All that happended was we had an oil price spike between 2003 and 2014, mainy caused by increased demand from China, and that allowed Obasanjo and GEJ to give the impresion that things were getting better, but in reality the fundementals of the country have never improved. We are still mostly an importing nation, that imports even the most basic of goods, that is why the value of Niara is constantly on a downward trajectory. Critical infrastructure in the power sector remains absent. Things are even worse now, because of the added issue of extreme insecurity. The youths really need to organise themselves in advance of 2023. If they allow the old man to contiune to divide them on the basis of eithinc group, they will only have themselves to blame. It is their future the old men and women are consuming today.

Utter nonsense. out of 6 geopolitial zones, 5 should just sit down, and allow only the SE to produce a president. Dream on. I have NO problem voting for a qualified Igbo son or daughter to be president, but I will never support a situation where others are excluded. Let the best candidates put themselves forward and we the people will choose.
