It is common practice all over the world that senior civil servants give their unbiased advice to leaders and the leaders make the final decesions, hence the saying 'Civil servants advice, ministers decicde' Then Prince Akenzua was simply doing his job as a senior federal civil servant. Gowon could have eassily overuled him if he waned to. To say Akenzua casued the civil war is proposterous. |
Buhari and Liar Mohammed will come and blame Twitter and Facebook for this nonsense! |
TheSupleemLeada:You are welcome to visit Edo state during Christmas and you'll see for yourself that the Edo diaspora have no fear about coming home. Edo no be South East |
TripleOh7:There is simply not enough space in the Oba's place for a state of the art museum. I don't see what the problem, The UK does not store all it's cultural artifacts in Buckingham palace. In fact the queens crown is not stored in palace, its stored in the tower of London. The Oba is the custodian of all Bini artifacts, that is without question, but we also need to mvoe with the times. A state of the art museum will be a tourist attraction that can generate revenue for the state as well as ensure the artifacts are properly maintained. I hope all Bini people wil come together to support this laudable vision |
I can only see 2 reasons for this. It is either his health has taken a turn for the worse and he can' travel or he got wind of som security issue and that's why he needs to stay for now |
Why do the mods allow posts like this which are clearly nothing more than hate speech? |
No sympathy for the guy. He's a bully and I hope he gets the sack. |
alizma:You will receive some flack for this, but you have spoken well. Why would anyone send a young woman in her sexual prime to a come and be alone in a cold country. You are asking for trouble. Many Nigerian female students come from good homes in , but they are lonely and cold in UK, trust me they are among the easiest to get, not because they are bad/loose as such, they are just very lonely, with few if any friends. It makes them desperate for any kind of attention and male company. Just a fact. |
There are bad people of both genders. There are ladies like this who betray men, there are also many men who do worse to their wives. We can only pray we do not fall victim to any. The guy should pick himself up. All na life. At least he found out early, what of the ones who go and get pregnant for other men, then pass it off as the husbands child. The man will bring up the child to adulthood, only to discover then that it's not his child. He has dogged a bullet with this babe, he should count his blessings and move on, hopefully a much wiser man. Fish plenty for river. |
Instead of upgrading the existing ones we are creating new ones. All to produce sub standard graduates that cant compete internationally. |
Sammy07:Nothing spoil. I hope Oduduwa republic will allow visa free travel for their Edo cousins sha. Would be a shame if I need visa to come and attend better Owambe in Lagos! |
Sammy07:Look at the map you posted abi has all that Amala affected your eyesight Anyway as long as we understand each other no wahala. Edo and Yoruba can be close and friendly neighbours. |
Sammy07:Please remove Edo from that your map. We have not in the SW and do not want to have anything to do with either Oduduwa or Biafra. Let us be. |
Lifestone:You have said all. A united South that forms an alliance with Benue and possibly Plateau can control this country. if only southern can get over their petty differences. |
This is why I tell people that breaking up Nigeria is simply not the answer. Many of the countries that emerge from Nigeria will simply become warzones themselves. In the SE as we can see there are already inter igbo conflicts, in the delta we have had Ijaw v Urhobo, Ijaw v itsekiri and Urhobo v Itsekiri. Rather than breaking up this country, let's join hands to try and make it work, for everyone. |
We seem to lack people in govt with any form of imagination or strategic nounce At this point an educational state of emergency should be declared in Zamfara, Kebbi, Niger, Kaduna, Borno and Katsina All schools should be closed. Mass schooling will need to introduced. Using centers like Stadiums, town halls, and temp structures designated areas. All mass schooling sites should have full military protection. 2 KM exclusion zone to all schooling sites. Apart from parents (who will be given special Id) and teachers any non authorized person who comes within the zone is killed instantly. Govt needs to treat this as a war situation and respond accordingly. I sometimes wonder if Buhari and the Northern governors actually care about the welfare of northern kids |
vedaxcool:Please I appeal to my southern brothers let's give peace a chance. This is a good development. Cattle rearing will now be run like any other business. Nothing stops a southerner setting up a ranch in partnership with northerners for mutual profit. As long as open grazing is stopped I am content. Let's find ways to move forward together. |
This guy is very funny. Was he with Abacha all through the night while him and Useni were romping with prostitutes? He should go and sit down. Nobody cares how the blood thirsty savage died. |
Sorry O. At least you guys cant blame that on the South. The North control all the security apparatus in the country. Go and speak to ya people |
thebosstrevor1:You are free to ban anything you want. You have already done that with Alcohol and pork. Please note nobody has banned beef in the North. it's funny how you guys seem to be unable to differentiate product from process. All we saying is don't do open grazing. Other livestock products from the North like Rams are brought down in trailers and sold in the markets, why can't do you do the same with your cows? Why can't you respect the choices your fellow citizens have made, after they have seen their relatives and friends murdered and raped.? The honest truth is we can debate on here ad infinitum. The southern people have made their choice and their governors have stated that choice loud and clear. Anyone who tries to overrule that choice will have the entire south to answer to. Please believe me when I tell you people are ready to go to any length on this. The North has over 70% of the land in Nigeria, you all come online to gloat about how Niger state is bigger than the whole SE. Fine, that means you have ample landmass for open grazing. I don't see why you also need to graze in the remaining under 30% of the land. |
thebosstrevor1:I am sorry but you are quite wrong on this. Herdsmen violate peoples farms. My friend went to his farm in May, large number of his crops had been destroyed by herdsmen. The villages even had videos of it. The local Fulani leaders said the herdsmen who did this were not Nigerians. Do you see the problem? We have Fulani from ALL OVER west africa coming down south. Many of the non-Nigerian ones do not care about following any of the ancient noms and practices that have existed for centuries. You can't expect a state government to start trying to determine who is a Nigerian Fulani and who is not. Also many of the non-Nigerian fulani are involved in kidnapping rape and murder. Please understand our governors did not just wake up one day and decide to ban open grazing. I am sure you will admit that is is extremely rare to see ALL the southern govs take a united position on anything. The truth is we have been suffering greatly across the south at the hands of herdsmen and the people have now said enough is enough. The blame for this dose not lie with the southern governors. It lies with the FG and their inability to properly control our borders and ensure security for all citizens. I can assure you if the governors did not take the stand they took, by now there would have been many more cases of herdsmen being killed and their animals destroyed, and eventually there would have been reprisal attacks in the North, which would lead to a full fledged North V South war. Do you really want a war over cows? Best to respect the decision of our elected representatives and let peace reign. We respect your choices, please respect ours. |
thebosstrevor1:So you agree that LEGITIMATE business activities can be proscribed by a state. Alcohol is not illegal by the laws of Nigeria. You are saying it is ok to ban it, in this case on religious grounds, we are saying we can also ban open grazing on safety grounds. Sorry nobody is a slave in this country. If the northerners have the right to ban something on any grounds and we southerners respect it, you must also respect our choice to ban open grazing. |
thebosstrevor1:If there is a full freedom to do business anywhere in the land, then why do the Hisbach police seize and destroy alcohol in Kano? Do I as a southerner have the right to open a beer parlour anywhere I want in the North? It is the Northerners who are big hypocrites. You want to control what happens in your states, but are telling us in the south we have no right to control what happens on our land. Open grazing is banned in the South, end of. Buhari can not pick and choose which parts of the 1st republic laws to implement. If he wants the open grazing of the first republic to be implemented then we want the revenue allocation formula of the first republic to also be implemented. |
slawormiir:Otamere I beg tell them. Buhari has NEVER won an election in Edo state. Edo no be Lagos. |
spearman:You have spoken my mind. Many of us in the SS are very sympathetic to the SE, after all they solidly backed a SS man as president. The problem here is Ipob and Kanu trying to extend the reach of Biafra far outside the SE. This scares the smaller the SS groups. My candid advice to the Igbos is go for the 5 state Biafra, which it now seems the Northern elite are prepared to accept. The rest of Nigeria will crumble soon after as the SW and SS will see that they will be totally dominated by the North. |
Indeed the Igbos have suffered greatly in Nigeria and were the victims of crimes against humanity. It us a shame however that they never want to acknowledge the role some of them played in bringing this tragedy on their people. The killing of northern and Yoruba leaders in the first coup, Ironsi trying to impose a unification decree, all these contributed to the backlash against the Igbo. Let us all understand history so we dont repeat it. |
SaintLucia:The SE is really small sha. I beg Igbo people please think this matter well. You stand to gain so much more in a strong, prosperous Nigeria |
Maybe my expectation was very low, but I have to say Buhari handled himself ok. Yes it was not an excellent performance but I think he spoke from the heart. He's basically an old man who wants the best for the country, but is blinded by ethnic sentiments and an inability to be empathic to those who disagree with him. I hope he'll start to have more media appearances, he is the father of the nation and needs to carry everyone along. |
If you travel around Nigeria you will see under development everywhere. Dilapidated schools and hospitals, terrible roads, poor sanitation. There are state governors and LG chairmen everywhere doing nothing for their people. This will not change if there is a Biafra, Oduduwa or Arewa republic. The corrupt mentality, the greed, the lack of consideration for the less well off. Its these traits that define the Nigerian today and will define the Biafran, Oduduwan and Arewan tomorrow. Much better to remain part of a United Nigeria and fight to expunge the negative traits. This country can be a super power if enough of us fight for it |
Rissimenky:please tell them. South Sudan is a mess of a country with ethnic strife and poverty abound. If Nigeria breaks up all the breakaway nations will be WORSE than Nigeria today. The corruption and nepotism that exists today will simply be replicated in the new nations. Let's work together to build our nation |
Fahdiga1:That is eh. As long as you have made her leg shake, you can do anything, even marry her best friend, but you will always have a master key to her heart. ![]() |
