Buhari has simply confirmed what so many of being saying, which is there has been corruption in ALL govts in in Nigeria. Yet Buhari and the ACP keep trying to give the impression that it's only the GEJ govt that somehow destroyed the Nation. The Halliburton file is with the FG. The Americans have already investigate, persecuted and convicted people on it. If Buhari is REALLY SERIOUS about changing this country then that is a good place to start. Charge the Halliburton bribe takers to court, send out a message that NOBODY is above the law. For all those of you who support Buhari and can see nothing wrong in what he does, please understand, as long as Buhari does not cut down the 'Big Men' his govt will ultimately fail. This is because they will block any real meaningful efforts at change. We all know who the 'Big Men' are in Nigeria. These people have Senators , judges, security personal on their indirect payrolls. They have done so much damage to this country for DECADES yet Buhari only wants to focus on GEJ. GEJ has no ambition anymore O. The man is happy to be traveling around enjoying his life. The 'BIG MEN' however never have enough, they want to continue to control and suck Nigeria dry. If Buhari does not confront them and take them down once and for all he only has himself to blame, for just like in 1985, they will ultimately destroy his govt. |
Dbboy:My brother the level of IGNORANCE and straight out semi-illiteracy among a lot of Nigerians is truly staggering. I challenge people to go and compare both Bill Clinton and Obama when they were fist elected. In both cases (1992 and 2008) the US economy was in trouble, during the elections both man put forward their DETAILED economic plans and once they were sworn in they got down to work implementing those plans. During the elections the plans were debated extensively and everybody know the direction that would be followed. It is clear Buhari has no such plan. In almost three months he has not found it necessary to even convene an economic summit, to bring together talent from business, industry and finance to help give input on the way forward. Nobody is saying don't fight corruption, but corruption is not the ONLY issue the country is facing. Obama had to deal with an economy on the verge of collapse, two wars going wrong in Iraq and Afghanistan and the ever present threat of terror on the homeland, as well as fight to keep his promise of health care reform. He focused on ALL of them at the same time and moved forward on all. Multi tasking is what a President does! Buhari is displaying a worrying aloofness on the economy. All the forecasts are for the price of oil to remain subdued through 2016, he needs to put together an economic team without delay and start to fashion out policies to deal with the coming economic crash. |
Only those who have never seen war, call for war |
Buhari supporters have told us not to worry, that ministers are not important. So let's sit and watch how their great leader will run the entire FG with perm secs. BTW how's the Niara done since May 30th?? |
It's very simple. As long as the south is divided the North will continue to rule. |
GEJ did his things quietly and achived results. The Imam of Daura is just making noise all over the place with nothing to show for it. 2019 gets closer everyday ![]() |
Change!!!!! Lai Mohamed will not see this one! Buhari will no see this one! Oshimole will not see this one! Na GEJ name matter they go hala from morning till midnight. APC All progressive craze people! |
The games go on. Larmode is corrupt and fed fat under the last govt. When Buhair came in he suddenly woke up and 'saw the light' and started probing left right and center. The senate is the political arm of the looters and mafia's and they now want to hit back at Larmode. Don't think they are doing this out some sort of patriotic zeal. As always it's about selfish interest. |
When Bishop Kukah was trying to speak sense, stupid, ignorant, brainless Buharists were coming here to rain insults on the man. Buhari can spend the next 4 years chasing stolen money he'll only meet with failure. That's the reality of things. He should focus on putting strucures and personal in place to ensure that going forward theses type of things do not happen again, and by all means where there is evidence prosecute those that he can, but DO NOT make chasing looted funds the be all and end all. |
tete7000:The funds spent on your education was money well spent!! |
lurther:I was thinking the exact the same thing, the way Shara quickly started attacking Tunde Fowler, there was no way he could be Tinubu's candidate. Now with this article in The Nation it is clear that Tinubu is getting angry with PMB |
hedonistic:and so what? Is the current corruption ridden subsidy regime actually helping the masses? The billions spent on Subsidy could go into critical infrastructure development that would help alleviate the rise in pump price. Understand one thing, the country is damn broke! Hard times await and people need to trim their coat and bear it. |
So all those eWarriors who were calling themselves 'Occupy Nigeria' and fighting GEJ when he tried to remove subsidy, do you know accept you were wrong? No whala? Does Buhari no understand what is Subsidy? |
Why cant he put his son in on of the university and he showcase his talent? Even his Grand father has a university in Edo state, but of course that's not good enough for the family. allanphash7: |
OZAOEKPE:Ah my brother don't joke Fulani man and power O! They understand completely how to deploy power, and of those things is the 'symbol of power' Just as nobody but an Emir would sit on an Emir's throne, so for a Fulani president, nobody but the president will sit on the presidential seat. That is how their mind works. |
Nigeria needs RADICAL measures to save it. The international oil markets are not predicting oil of more than $60 right up to 2017. That is about half of what Nigeria needs to balance it's books. The maths is simple we either need to find other sources of revenue or slash expenditure. The next few years will be very interesting indeed |
A gentleman, who will only truly be appreciated in time. He did his best for the country but was surrounded by demons and devils. There were no political killings during his time, no abuse of power, he could have used the power at his disposal to cling onto power, but instead chose the path of honor. For that singular act alone, Goodluck Jonathan will always be a hero and an untypical African |
NoRetreat:All Osho baba's mouth vomitting can be directly linked to the the immediate period after he married Lara. I am telling you guys, he is suffering the after effects of using too much Viagra. That stuff is only supposed to be used in small does but becasue Osho wants to keep Lara happy he's taking overdoes and it's making him go mad!! ![]() |
Splashme:We are being mocked by the international community. This is not good, and will not give investors confidence. I really do hope Buhari understands this and gets a credible minster of finance in place ASAP |
Sunday8650:Calm down, I feel your passion and it's highly commendable. For your information, I don't support any party. Honestly I don't know how any right thinking Nigerian can claim to be a party supporter seeing how ALL parties have looted this great country into the ground. Additionally please don't take my stance as criticism or attack on Buhari. People need to rise above this and accept that on national issues, we can take different sides of an issue that does not mean it's an 'attack' I take your point on national interest entirely and that's what I am trying to argue here. If you deeply read my posts with you, you will understand that I am not even referring to Buhair, GEJ or whoever. What I am simply talking about is what's the best way to go about the fight against corruption while, ensuring that due process is followed and the independence of the 3 arms of govt as laid down by the constitution is maintained. Now you propose that the issue here is that we have a lot of corrupt judges in Nigeria. Guess what? I agree 100% with you. However where we disagree is how to proceed. You say that Buhari should be allowed to select 'honest' judges to try the corruption cases. I disagree because that would break the independence of the judiciary and set a very dangerous precedence for the future. I think a better way forward, would be for the EFCC and ICPC to be instructed to launch a quick blitz on the judiciary. I am certain the very corrupt judges are known within the profession. It would not be hard to focus internally on a few of them, seize their excess properties, freeze their accounts...etc. While this is happening the NSA or head of DSS could summon the Chief judge of the federation and the 36 state chief judges and tell them to pass onto all the other judges a simple message. You are being watched. Your accounts and those of your close family are being monitored, the govt is about to start anti corruption cases, if you like take bribe, we will now and you'll be arrested. This way the independence of the judiciary is maintained, but the judges will now think twice before taking any bribes. To go further the security agencies could even arrange some 'sting' operations, where undercover agents actually offer bribes to some judges to catch them out. Trust me once a few a caught like this the rest will sit up and do their job properly because ultimately Nigerians are cowards. The late great Dora Akunyli practically eliminated fake drugs from Nigeria and she never had to cross the law to do it. I am confident that with similar leadership our anti corruption agencies can do the same with the ALL branches of govt in Nigeria. |
Sunday8650:Quite a lot of points, I conceed, but none change the simple fact that the LAW MUST BE FOLLOWED AT ALL TIMES. If you are saying that the body politic of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is now so rotten and corrupted that it can't be relied upon to effectively dispense justice(Which seems to the case from your seven points above) then the only logical conclusion is that the current constitution and the 4th republic need to be suspended, emergency rule brought in and the whole stable cleaned out. Is that what you are advocating? |
Habakus:May the Lord continue to bless you and keep you wise and healthy. The funds your parents spent educating you were truly monies well spent. Well done!! What you wrote is very similar to something I wrote in another thread. People are jumping up and down now saying things like 'Buhari choose your own judges to try the corrupt people, suspend their rights, desperate times require desperate measures......etc' They forget, as you so correctly said, that Buhari will not be forever. if we start to tinker with the constitution today in order to 'fight corruption', what will happen tomorrow, when it's no longer Buhari there? We must all work within the limits of the law. The law is there to protect everybody. |
DeRoyalFranco:My brother no mind the gal. When the going was good, she dey follow am fleece all the mumu followers. No that kati kati don enter she's trying to make herself out as some kind of 'victim of abuse'. Typical female hypocrite. |
if I my add madam: Another lesson you should learn in life, is that grabbing millions upon millions from gullible followers (Tithes, First fruit, endless 'sowing') is no guarantee of happiness on earth. |
Sunday8650:I am sorry but you are very wrong. I am in no way supporting corruption, what I am supporting is CORRECT DUE PROCESS. Please consider this simple fact, Buhari will not be president for ever. Whatever he does now can and will be used as a precedence by future govts. If a President is allowed to select the judges he wants for certain cases, what happens if tomorrow it's the PDP that are back in power? What would you then say if the a PDP govt started selecting judges for cases against ACP members, or cases where for example a PDP person's election was being challenged. Nigerians MUST start to understand that is is PROCESS and INSTITUTIONS that make a country great, not individuals. As I've stated in my previous write up, if there are corrupt judges on the bench, by all means remove them, but the INDEPENDENCE of the judiciary must be maintained else we are in a dictatorship. |
This is the kind of the mentality that belongs in a Army govt. Nigerians need to be very careful cheering every move like this, which is in fact an assault on democratic tenants. In a democracy there is supposed to be separation between the Executive, legislative, and judicial branches. That is how checks and balances work. ALL judges are supposed to impartial and honest. By all means if there is evidence of corruption against a judge, then such a judge should be suspended and charged accordingly, but for the govt to charge people, and then also look for specific judges to judge the case, I am sorry that is no longer democratic. I've got no problem with corrupt people being tried, but we MUST follow all due process to do it and maintain democratic best practices. Failure to do that will only give more ammunition to those who do not want the fight against corruption to succeed for their won selfish reasons. |
Ask the following people please: Buhari Babangida Shagari Gowon Danjuma Abubakar Atiku They should be able to answer your questions ![]() |
The simple truth is that a president has MANY roles to furfil. Right now Buhari seems to be pee-occupied with 'corruption'. Well meaning people are starring to notice that this is becoming an obsession to the detriment of other spheres of govt. All Buhari needs to do is appoint people he trusts to head the ant-corruption agencies, appoint a credible Attorney General, give these people their marching orders, and then get on with attending to the many other massive problems the country faces. Also we must not be naive. We wish this country works like the US or Uk, but it does not. This is Nigeria. If Buhari really goes after GEJ and the PDP looters, then he ALSO HAS to go after Ammechi, Tinubu and every other ACP looter. Trust me this country will explode if only GEJ has his cronies are being hounded. That is just the truth of the matter. Now please tell me how does Buhari go against Amechi and Tinubu when they'll turn round and say 'Baba the funds you are querying us on where what was used to fund your nomination and campaign'. What happens are that point? How did he think his campaign was funded. This is why I've always been a bit dubious about all Buhari's anti-corruption talk. It always seems selective. Til this day he has never acknowledged that Abacha was corrupt simply because, he served in that govt. |
nnachukz:You do not throw out the baby with the bath water. Not all fx deposits are from looters, there are quite a lot of people who need to transfer FX for viable business or personal reasons, policy makers need to think carefully before implementing new policies. |
Probe and jail ANYONE who has stolen public funds. Weather the are North or South, PDP or ACP it should not matter. Where Buhari will face a BIG problem is if the probes are seen to be only targeted at PDP. I wish Buhari strength and wisdom to clean up this country. |
Much as I detest corruption and want to see all corrupt officials jailed, I don't think Obasanjo is the person we should listen to. The man is a complete and total hypocrite and very very vindictive. He has nothing good to say about anybody and think he's God. Buhari should ignore him complexly As a country we need to start being a land of strong laws and process and not strong men (Quoting Obama) The law is simple. If there is evidence of corruption against GEJ, the relevant agencies should investigate it and if there is sufficient grounds, then he should be charged accordingly. It really should not be down to Buhari to decide weather anybody is investigated or not. This should also apply to ALL former leaders not just GEJ |
