I think I agree with him.

But wait... wetin happen to you when you were saying things about the probe of the last administration. You were not yourself then, right?

Welcome back cool
A lot of people did not really get the gist of what he was saying a while ago. In effect what he was saying, was that by all means problem GEJ's govt, but stop the witch hunting in the media. He's been justified to some degree when you see some ex GEJ ministers getting international appointments, yet the same people were being scandalized by the APC supporting media with NO EVIDENCE being presented against them. In Nigeria we just love to do trial by media and rumor, but of course only when it suits us. The same people who are happy to stone Ngozi based on nothing more than media speculation, are happy to have Amechi and Fashola as ministers, even though CONCRETE corruption allegations have been made against them.

Step one~dredge river Niger
Step two~relocate some multinational H.q offices to other part of the country..
Step three~build cargo airports across the country especially the east
Step four~create jobs

Half of lagos populace are fed up with the stress...but they gat to eat..
You are on the right track. One of the major problems with Lagos at the moment is that everything is concentrated there. in the 70's and 80's there were operational ports in Warri, Sapple, PH, Calabar, Koko.... somehow they were all allowed to die and only Lagos still functions. How can a massive country like Nigeria operate only 1 major Seaport? Revamping some of these ports will decrease the pressure on Lagos and also spread economic activities across the Nation.

He is the speaker of the House of Reps the number 4 man in the country. I know many of you young PMB supporters have problems with basic facts, but please understand we are in PRESIDENTIAL DEMOCRACY, with separation of powers between the Presidency, Legislature and Judiciary. Buhari is neither a King nor an Emperor and he can be called to order by ANY member of any other branch of govt.
Health › Re: My Manhood Has Stopped Working. by bjdon: 10:06am On Sep 29, 2015
This happens to most men, but only few really admit it. A couple of tips

First off DONT WORRY. The more you worry about it, the longer the problem will persist. It's mostly in the mind.

Second. Keep fit. Cut back on alcohol and smoking(if you smoke) change your diet and try eat a lot more vegetables and fish.

Third. Abstain for a while. This includes self service. Just focus on other aspects of life for a few weeks, this will also help you mentally. Do some other things you enjoy to take your mind away from it all.

I wish you all the best, but as I say don't worry too much, you are under 30 so still very much in your prime. Before you know it everything will be working again, and you'll be doing the business all over town wink

Politics › Re: Femi Aribisala: Buhari Is A Ticking Time Bomb With A Dangerous Agenda by bjdon: 1:47pm On Sep 23, 2015
To the PMB Supporters

There is nothing wrong at all in defending Buhari. Many of you have absolute faith and belief that he will improve this country. However I think you guys should learn to accept when there are legitimate grounds for criticism. As I've said in the past one the reasons GEJ failed is that he started to see all well meaning advice as an attack and in the end only listened to a small circle of people, many of whom had their own selfish agendas.

Of course Femi Aribisala is biased, we all know that, but that should not take away from the fact that he's making some valid points. Have you guys not read the minutes of the last CBN Policy committee meeting? Nigeria is at risk of a serve economic slowdown. It is simply WRONG, that over 100 days after in office We don't have an economic team in place. Please recall that GEJ did not contest the election result so in fact Buhari has had approx 6 months since the election to have done this. Come on people, that is just not good enough. At this rate with some Senators away on Hajj there is no way new ministers will be confirmed before end of October at the soonest.

PMB's comments about minsters being noise makers, it's clear he wants to run things by himself with the civil servants. That is a recpie for absolute disaster, as civil servants are policy implemtors not policy formulators. If you are a Buhari supporter you need to be concerned about these things as ultimatly they will be factors that determine if his govt will be a success or not.

I bet the management were appointed on merit and not quota system.
It's not magic, put the right people in place and any organization will succeed. Appoint people on the basis of ethnic quotas can never lead to success and that's why no Nigerian govt run company can ever succeed. Sorry but that's just a fact.
Foreign Affairs › Re: Secession. Catalonia To Vote On Referendum From Spain. by bjdon: 8:38am On Sep 22, 2015
Africans need to understand that until the NATIONAL QUESTION, is asked and answered in different countries, true development will continue to elude us. Most of the nation states in present day Africa were created by the Europeans for their trade and political interests. Nations that had never lived together were suddenly lumped together and others split from their kith and kin. We need to have honest debates about these things and give voice to those who want to go their separate ways. Quebec in Canada and Scotland in the UK have had the vote and decided to stay in those nations. South Sudan decided to leave Sudan. Why can't the any group in Nigeria that wants to leave be giving the vote and if the people in that area vote to leave, it should be respected.
Politics › Re: Saraki's CCB Trial Live On Channels TV by bjdon: 1:40pm On Sep 21, 2015
I think the issue for a lot of people is that WE ALL KNOW THE TRUTH.

1: We know that Saraki is corrupt, as ARE MANY OTHER MEMBERS OF BOTH PDP AND ACP.

2: Saraki's corruption did not deter ACP from accepting him as a member. Indeed NOT A SINGLE PDP MEMBER WAS BARRED FROM JOINING APC, YET APC CLAIMED TO BE THE PARTY OF CHANGE.

3: We all know that Saraki is being hunted now due to the way he became Senate President.

Basically I don't give a dam about Saraki. If he's convicted and rots in Prison, for me that's one less crook to loot our funds However let's not call this part of the 'War on corruption' please. We all know this is just politics.

Some people need to learn to use their heads.

This woman has just been given TWO international appointments. As another poster said, international firms do rigorus vetting before making appointments. If there was any truth in all the allegations against her she would not have got these jobs.

If I may ask HAVE ANY CONCRETE, SOLID CLAIMS BEEN MADE AGAINST HER? NO!. Instead all we have are baseless 'beer room' gossip from the likes of Oshimole, a buffoon who has shown himself to be a complete loud mouth, who can't even solve the server erosion plaguing his state. If any solid evidence of fraud is presented against Mrs Okonjo-Iwela, I'll be the first to condemn her, until then, I say again congratulations to her and wish her every success in her new roles!

mrvitalis:
Tonye... the fact that people actually praise ur analysis shows the level of decay in Nigerian educational system
Let me educate u a little bit
1) a minister is a mere representative of the president in that ministry
2) the president can pass his directives or give instructions based on his manifesto to any ministery WITH OR WITHOUT A MINISTER
3) ministers are only needed when the president wants to reduce the work load on him.... And if the president is not complaining..... I wonder y u should.. ....
..
You are quite wrong. As others have pointed out certain ministers have statutory roles attached to their posts. The idea that the minster is mearly the representative of the president, shows a gross mis understanding of how government is supposed to work. Ministers are supposed to develop policies, in line with the presidents vision and civil servants work out the modalities for implementing those policies.

I agree that the vast majority of ministers in Nigerias history have been totally useless and that's created the perception that ministers are in fact not really needed, but that is not the case.

Politics › Re: FG Will Not Devalue The Naira Further – Buhari by bjdon: 2:12pm On Sep 16, 2015
Dear general, you've got no real say on this, it's all down to the markets. As long we keep importing so much, and our FX revenues continue to fall, due to lower oil prices, then the simple laws of demand and supply dictate that the Niara will have to fall in value. This is economics sir, you can't influence it by order, diktat or body language.

You are the very personification of the stupid black man. All rage and emotion and zero ability to think analytically. It is because of people like you that our race remains bottom of every conceivable development index.

If your actually had a working brain between your ears, you may have asked yourself these questions.

1: How come during the coup of 1985 No senior officers tried to defend Buhari(Contrast with the Dimka attempted coup)

2:If Buhari was so easy to work with and such a team player, how comes he failed 3 times at becoming president and only succeed with the backing of Tinubu? Where was the great mass of leading lights in the country queuing up behind Buhari?

The old saying that you can fool all of the people some of the time but you can fool all of the people all of the time, will certainly apply here. Buhari is an unreformed dictator who only listens to himself. Nothing has changed since IBB kicked him out. Thats just a fact. Now if that annoys you or causes you high blood pressure, there are a choice of lagoons in Lagos you can fling yourself into, or endless transformers you can hug tightly.

There is a very big problem if Buhari continues this way. After thought knee jack approach. He has applied this method virtually in everything he has so far done. He believes everything and everybody is corrupt except him and his party faithfuls. From the way he is handling corruption fight to business relation with international community.

You disband a system bcuz you think they are corrupt, when your boxed into a corner you bring them back. Now they will think you can only bark and not bite. They hold the ace. The noise on the pages of papers about fighting corruption, by the time nobody is jailed in the next 2yrs people will begin to see him as a toothless dog. This is the more reason he shud av formed his cabinet where he will have trusted people that understand the system and the best approach to the issue without puting the country in limbo.

If he thinks a system is corrupt u dont sanitize it by this gestapo approach. let everything be institutionalized by that it becomes easy tracking fraudsters.
My brother go and read up Babangida's coup speech. He made it quite clear that Buhari was not prepared to listen anyone but himself and his number 2. That mentality is what is going to get his administration into big trouble. There are complexities in a large country like Nigeria that need to be taken into account.

Politics › Re: Can Nigeria Ever Be A First World Country? by bjdon: 8:20am On Sep 11, 2015
Unfortunately the answer would have to be a big fat NO. The following would have to change for there to be any hope:

1: Quota system/Federal Character.
You simply can not have a great country, if you don't have the best minds at the helm of affairs. Until Merit becomes the SOLE criteria for govt appointments, we will never get the best in terms of policy formation and implementation.

2: Structure of the Nation
The current 'rate collection' structure of the Nation can never lead to sustained development. We have a Federal system of expenditure but a Unitary system of revenue allocation. In a proper Federal system the states and LG's are supposed to be 100% autonomous from the FG. With the system we operate state governors just wait for their allocations every month, and can't be bothered to think up revenue earning strategies for their states. We need to practice true Federalism or no Federalism. The current half way house is just a mess.

3: Over centralization
Way too much is centralized at the center (AKA Big Govt). Why should it be the FG's responsibility to provide electricity for example? Why not leave that to the private sector. The same with so many other sectors of the economy from Universities to Ports to trains. In the developed world most of these are either 100% private or in Public-Private partnerships. The size of the FG needs to be radically scaled back.

I fear that the points raised above will never be addressed due to political and ethnic constrains and consequently Nigeria will reamin the 'Almost' country it currently is. A country that is almost great, but just cant seem to get there.

Politics › Re: Omotola Criticizes Buhari, Ambode... by bjdon: 1:34pm On Sep 10, 2015
As this incident occurred in Unilag, the first responsibility lies with the school authorities, particularly the VC. It is from him/her to take responsibility for what happened and announce what steps would be put in place to prevent future occurrence. I don't really see how any reasonable person can expect the president to get involved in every incident that occurs on the grounds of a Federal institution or establishment.

One thing Nigerians need to understand, is that if we want real CHANGE, then we are ALL going to have to WORK for it. No leader, not Buhari, nor anyone else can bring change to every nook and corner of the country. We need to learn to hold the right people to account. If the teaching hospital is not clean, it's not Buhari's fault, it's the fault of the medical director. If the gutter is full and there's flooding it's not the fault of Buhari, it's the fault of the LG for not clearing the gutter......etc. Too Many people are getting away with not doing their jobs, while we blame all our problems on the occupant of Aso Rock.

I am NOT Buhari supporter. I've been very critical of him on this site, however I strongly feel that any president who wants to succeed would ensure that close positions like chief of staff are held by people that he has absolute trust in.That is just normal.

This is really a non issue and Buhari has nothing to explain to anybody. Nigerians really need to move on and deal with the more pressing economic and structural issues the nation faces.

quota system civil service
Good point. Maybe we should go and check what was the appointment criteria into the civil service in the days when it was ‘primus inter pares’ in the commonwealth. I am sure you'll find there was no quota system or useless 'Federal Character' As long as you don't operate a system based on merit, you'll never get the best people and therefore never get the best results and outcomes.
