PoliticsRe: Identify Your Senator- Ben Murray-Bruce To Ezekwesili by blackprowler: 2:52pm On Apr 22, 2016
Oby Ezekwesili has no idea how democracy works. She's a bone in Nigeria's throat because she was once a petty minister and one of World Bank's staff overseeing some part of Africa. I've been in close observance of all these people and Ben Bruce is far more democratically literate than the rest of them. He himself has blocked me on twitter too but he's better nonetheless as I told him before - just not perfect as he thinks he is. And to think Ezekwesili is a "mummy" and hero to hundreds of thousand of Nigerians tells me in how much soup this country is. Ben Bruce nailed it there, but of course she'll argue on because she can never be wrong...never!

My dear, I was not expecting every Tom Dick and Harry in Nigeria to agree with me. If they did I will be wrong; don't you get it? It is what you people think is right that you're doing that is called your VALUES and that's killing Nigeria. I'm the observer watching the fishpond of Nigerian society. This "change" is an invitation to anarchy, but some of these kids will come here talking nonsense in defense of their god.
the great philosopher, Alfred North Whitehead had rightly said that"the art of progress is preserving order amidst change and change amidst order" from this it is evident that we are changing without making progress.

A good look all around us and you see anarchy brewing, police kidnapping citizens for ransom , robbery, cultism, vandalism, insecurities, brazen insensitivity displayed from the presidency downwards etc

We really need to redefine our democracy in my own opinion, giving weights to certain people, how can a learned professor of economics and a local agbero be entitled to one vote each.

Damn.
With respect to your last paragraph, what Nigerians don't yet understand is that democracy isn't a political system to get the best person out, but a system to get the person that the majority of society agrees with. A professor may not be on the same intellectual level as the agbero, but the agbero better reflects the reality of how that society is. That is why democracy should thrive on an enlightened citizenry, without which it won't advance a nation. To enlighten the citizenry is the first step, clearly neglected in the Nigerian context. I've done what I could to start it, but Nigerian big men/women probably don't want an enlightened citizenry too - they just want to rule and manipulate people. I'm telling you

Acidosis:
Many Nigerians build because they were made to believe building a home is cheaper than RENT. That idea is false. Some also built because they want to leave a property for their children. I factor these reasons, and conclude that it is unwise to hurriedly build a house, especially when there are many ventures one could lay his hands on.

The real and hidden reasons people hurriedly build a house in Nigeria include:

1. Fear of taking risks
2. Zero business/investment acumen
3. The believe that they'll some day fail or get fired, hence the need to quickly secure a home
4. The believe that a landlord is the reason they have little to zero savings.

For a young man of 25 - 29 yrs, haba! there are many investments one could put his money into. The fear of N100,000 rent shouldn't make anyone to pour N5 million & more on an immovable asset.

At least, raise a family, wife and children and let the decision be made collectively. But like someone said, people have varying pursuits. Some prefer to get a decent job, own a car and build a house. To them, that's the ideal lifestyle. Some just want to enjoy life, while some are ready to pour their earnings on more degrees oversea, so I'll try and avoid judging anyone.
My friend, Nigerian values are killing Nigerians. I used to work in a place which could not be accessed by public transport and owning a car was quite important due to the shift nature of the job also. Yet, one colleague who was earning much more than us due to having being in the job for longer was still trekking the 20+ minutes to the factory from last bus stop because HE WAS BUILDING A HOUSE and expected we small boys who used cars to stop by and pick him up. In his eyes and those on his level, he is wise. At your maternity ward when you are born, the Nigerian society has already drawn up a long list of all the items you must acquire and all the things you must do or else they brand you a failure and sanction you. There is no place for individual evolution of the meaning of life; it is all about materialism and you're encouraged to do whatever it takes to tick each of the boxes as you carry on in life here. Are you still wondering why this country is so badly governed and people are so cruel and self-centered, trying to amass all for self? I have said repeatedly that the problem with Nigeria is the Nigerian people themselves and how they define their society. It is not about poilticians as those politicians are also one of us trying to do what the others are doing in their own space too. It's a tragedy, this country

No problem. Just remember that Christians started it first and Muslims are very good at noticing such for future reference. Not long from now an active Islamic religion clergyman will vie for office and OF COURSE, the Nigerian Christian community will start to express unease. Even Buhari that just happens to be a devout Muslim was branded an Ayatollah and all such derogatory inferences to the effect that a devout Muslim should not be in politics. Nigeria will never know peace for as long as her people are so incredibly dumb. Down with all Abrahamic religions; they're the source of much of the problems the world has been facing. They have never provided real solutions, only dumb claims of such to dimwits that populate backward societies like Nigeria. Up Reason; up Science; they have provided all the solutions to man's dilemma in just a few centuries INSPITE OF RELIGION!

Haha. Great question bro. These people make me realise how long it has been since he left power. I don't blame presidents for much of Nigerian problems; I always blame the totality of the Nigerian people, BUT in the case of Babangida, whom I refuse to ever call IBB even when managing space on twitter, I take a different stance. Babangida destroyed my life and I'm still suffering it today. If there is one single individual that is responsible for the ruination of Nigeria, it is Babangida. He set the present value system Nigerians now operate which has seen to it that people have even bettered the grand larceny that occurred during his time. Ideas matter the most in life and it is his ideas, not just conducts, that Nigerians live on today. I do not wish Babangida well in this life and he is the only one I refer to on a personal level

If only men would remember where they come from and where they're going to, life would have been a less evil place than they made it. He will eventually go the way of all mortals, whether sleeping in his bed at 75 or 100 or whether like some he made to be tied tightly to a pole and suddenly destroyed in their 20s or 30s. They all end up same: no longer in existence; bodies that they used while here decayed and vanished. All the money they stole from millions of people and killed and destroyed other lives for still where they kept them, to be spent by others who never asked for it. Man is a fool

I am extremely politically conscious and knowledgeable but I am regarded as a stranger that they are being generous to in the land of my birth. I can not participate in the political process as a contestant. I can not go to where my parents were born to do anything there because neither do they recognise me as part of them, nor do I want to be part of them because I also see it as dishonest expediency. They're the personification of eternal disunity in Nigeria which is so dumb to be concurrently calling herself a "republic". Maybe it's time they checked up the meaning of the word. All monarchs should be rounded up and shot! All, except the ones who quickly renounce not just their thrones, but the very institutions. Which kain landlord and landlady be that? I am 95% sure that the so-called landlord did not build the house but he inherited the building from his late parent, we have a lot of such landlords in Lagos.
Don't mind them. They're usually also poor people who suddenly realised they are "almighty landlords" and want all tenants to begin worshipping them. This is absolutely the norm in the South West. It is the culture of yoruba Muslims. For their father to have one wife and a few well-educated kids, they will refuse. Their culture mandates a "rich" man to have more than one wife, MANY MANY CHILDREN, and little interest in educating them. In one generation, they become a poor family clinging on to being "roomlords" after the father dies and share rooms to them, and they become terrorists to the tenants due to a devastated ego. That tenant renting one room, with a different value system, will have one wife, a few kids and become rich in the same one generation, with some of the kids having built a house of their own. I have lived it; I have seen it; I have written about it on my Facebook page before now. It is not a one-off: it is the tradition of Yoruba Muslims, especially of older uneducated parent generation. Hopefully it is changing with the younger generation after they've now seen their former room tenants become absolutely no longer in their universe
