Ugmama:
Do you stay in Bournemouth?

If yes, please how true is living expenses being expensive especially rent?

Post Office

JaySterling:
Wow, the processes are really long
I have to mail the Cheque to Monzo’s P.O. Box and it takes 2-4 weeks to clear

Please is there another alternative to cash the DVLA Cheque ?
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by Bourne007(m): 3:09pm On Mar 19, 2023
Go to settings - Add money - Add money another way, select cheques and follow the instructions.

JaySterling:
‪Please guys, I just got a refund from DVLA, how can I cash the payable order Cheque? I paid to DVLA with my Monzo debit card and Monzo is an online bank with no physical branches.‬

You had 90 days (before 6 April 2017) or 30 days (on or after 6 April 2017) to leave the UK voluntarily at your own expense before you faced a ban on re-entry.

By law, you are good to go.

All the best

OvaSabi1:
I am wary of considering another UK postgraduate degree for some reasons.

1. After my MSc in 2015 I enrolled for another post graduate program but I didn’t finish or get a degree from that program until I left the uk in 2017. I didn’t pass the papers I was meant to pass in order to complete the program.

2. I overstayed for about 2 weeks because I had an operation one week before my student visa expired and the doctor told me not to travel for 6 weeks.

3. The surgery was elective for a chronic illness which is now under control. After the surgery I did not receive any billing requests so I have always assumed that it was covered by the Nhs. However I am now having doubts sometimes regarding if I owe them money or not for the procedure that I had. I had previously done a similar surgical procedure in 2015 in the uk and I didn’t receive any billing request.

I am considering a PhD now.

What do you have to say?

Not sure when you enquired, VFS has clearly stated that 🇳🇬 is suspended. It's also on their website.

uchman:
I sent a message to VFS and they replied that I should be ready to fly from Ghana and also provide a 10k dollars statement of account.

But you don't know the person na

He could be Mr money with the vibes 💰💷🤑

Zahra29:
I'm curious - if he's on a student visa how does he plan to support his family as presumably his wife will not be able to work (or work full time) with a new baby

Really strange you will be submitting your dissertation and them go still award PGDip shocked. Usually dissertation are not required for PGDip.

Is there a limit to the number of resits that you can do? I don't think so but the issue is they are either ignorant or dem no wan stress themselves as they usually do for foreign students after paying huge sum of money. Ask your school you would like to extend your visa for resit and see what they say. I'm sure there will be some info regards this on your site

Look up below links for guidance
https://www.gov.uk/student-visa/extend-your-visa
https://www.brookes.ac.uk/students/isat/visas/student-visa/getting-your-cas/resits-and-your-student-visa/
https://www.brookes.ac.uk/students/isat/visas/student-visa/getting-your-cas/extending-your-visa/

As others have suggested, CoS and CAS are your other alternatives. You can apply for another study visa too.

All the best

Maureen4sure:
My dear fellow Nairalander,

"Our records show that you are out of academic opportunities for one of your modules, and this therefore means you may not graduate with your full award and instead, upon successful completion of your remaining modules, you would be awarded a lower-level qualification than that which you were originally expected to achieve, You should note that in this event, this would mean that you are likely to be ineligible to apply for the Graduate Route Visa if you wished to do so. ''

I also received an email this morning from my module leader saying that I will be awarded a postgraduate diploma instead of a master's degree.

I have cried and cried my eyes out, I know I have disappointed my husband, who works tirelessly every day and night. He works in a warehouse and also as a security guard. For me to be able to get to this stage of my life,he has been there for me every day.

He has been down with this news for the last few days.

I will be submitting my dissertation by April, so I will be officially finished with school.

Please, where do I go from here?

TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by Bourne007(m): 7:47pm On Mar 13, 2023
But there's super priority (I think it's called usually out in 24 hrs) spousal visa you can apply for.

If you rather go down Tier 2, in weeks time switch to spousal

It's in your hands bàbà 🙂

tobbyoladejo:
Thank you. I'm just concerned because this employer won't accept me on anything apart from a work visa or spousal visa,n hence I have to apply for tier 2 or lose the job, since I can't work for them full time on a student visa. I'm also not sure they're willing to let me start on student visa after graduation and waiting for spousal visa.
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by Bourne007(m): 2:25pm On Mar 13, 2023
Any visa are typically not trackable. You just need to wait till they notify you.

babajeje123:
Please, is it possible to track graduate visa application and how? How long does it take to get the visa?
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by Bourne007(m): 12:33am On Mar 13, 2023
The latter

profemebee:
One more question pls..

For a successful spousal visa extension, will my passport be stamped like the first spousal visa (I didn't submit the original passport though)? or just BRP will be changed with a letter from HO?
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by Bourne007(m): 6:34pm On Mar 12, 2023
You can 'vary your application' at any time by making a different application. You are better off on a spousal visa though

tobbyoladejo:
From this experience, can I conclude that I can also do something similar? I have a spousal visa application pending too as I'm trying to switch from student visa, but I have the chance to get a tier 2 visa through an employer. Can I just apply for tier 2 and cancel spousal visa based on that, as the employer won't take me on a student visa?
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by Bourne007(m): 6:30pm On Mar 12, 2023
Nothing... not until you want to renew your visa or travel out of the country

profemebee:
thanks.

Generally, what happens to valid visas on expired passports?

I still have just over 6months left on the passport.. I think I will wait an extra month to see if I get my spousal visa extension approval from HO
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by Bourne007(m): 3:33pm On Mar 12, 2023
Of course you can

profemebee:
yea, it seems that is my only option, chasing them via the MP because there is no way to communicate with anyone from HO.

Can I renew my passport? how does it affect a pending application?

I didn't submit it.. they only required a copy of all the pages.
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by Bourne007(m): 11:20am On Mar 12, 2023
You have a 14 day grace period to put in another application though this means you will have to stop working pending a decision is made.

The only option you have is to keep chasing them 😓

profemebee:
Oh wow, glad it worked for you

unfortunately, I cant apply for another one because the moment I withdraw my application, i'm illegal because my BRP expired since June 2022.

Please I still need answers to my questions
TravelRe: QATAR AND UAE GENERAL VISA ENQUIRIES Part 3 by Bourne007(m): 8:23pm On Mar 11, 2023
Unfortunately No. All the tourist agencies kept saying 🇳🇬 are getting rejected. Even Emirates don remove naija from the list of countries 🤦🏾

Abass07:
Is UAE visit visa available for 🇳🇬 now?

If you Google map it, it's just 45 minutes by transport.

Happiness09:
Good evening all!

Just got an offer from University of South Wales, Pontypridd Campus. From my research, Pontypridd is a small town and getting a job there may be hard.

I heard Cardiff is a city near Pontypridd, I want to know if it will be possible to live and study in Pontypridd while I work in Cardiff.

I intend to work and pay off my tuition balance. Does anyone have experience with this location?

How come you are just finding out this morning? I thought they let students know well in advance.

To avoid rejection and loss of money, better withdraw application and iron this out with your school ASAP.

It will be a miracle to sort this out in 6 days ọ

Adebayo82:
Good morning everyone , please i need advice on my PWS. My tier 4 will expires in the next 6 days, and I applied for my PWS visa yesterday. I later got a mail from my school this morning that I need to re-sit one of my course. previously, I have checked everything through my hod and everything is fine on my coursework not until this morning when I received a mail from exam board. I'm scaring because I submitted my PWS visa application yesterday. I make a decision Swiftly because I don't want to take the risky of living in the UK with no Valid visa. I'm dilemma, what should I do now.
TravelRe: Living In The UK: Property,Mortgage And Related by Bourne007(m): 5:42pm On Feb 26, 2023
A special purpose vehicle (SPV) is simply a regular limited company which is used solely for a particular purpose. In the case of property investment, it's used to purchase, sell and rent out properties.

dustydee:
Thank you. It will not be residential. Please can you explain what you mean by Limited are only for special purpose vehicles?
TravelRe: Living In The UK: Property,Mortgage And Related by Bourne007(m): 5:01pm On Feb 26, 2023
Yes you can if it's BTL

If it's for residential purposes, not sure but I doubt. It is expected that your HTB home is your only residential property. Plus Ltd are typically available for 'Special Purpose Vehicles' so might be difficult to get.

dustydee:
Can someone with help to buy buy another house using a limited company?
What are the disadvantages of buying a house in a business name rather than in your name?
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by Bourne007(m): 12:37pm On Feb 22, 2023
I don't think it makes any difference. Some traditional banks just haven't stepped up their 'outdated' process hence more of us are moving to these Modern banks. The latter have means of verifying using third parties in some cases. Imagine you dey carry documents up and down go UKVI cheesy when all is now uploaded online.

Everyone dey Go green now, Saving the planet. wink

bigtt76:
In a way having a traditional bank account may help because the idea is you must have visited a bank branch with some documents to get verified for a conventional account unlike the online banks.

I got my AMEX weeks after arrival here with just my Revolut and Monese accounts + Llyods account.

You can use this to 'kind of' track status. Your current brp number will reflect if changes have been made.

TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 8 by Bourne007(m): 5:30pm On Feb 03, 2023
This isn't an option. You defer, the school informs UKVI and your visa is curtailed.

ElMejor10:
Hello House, if I get my visa late and defer my admission till September but still travel to the UK.. when school resumes september, do I have to request for a new CAS and pay IHS fee again for the period of the new session?

Or I only have to extend my visa when it expires?
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 8 by Bourne007(m): 4:52pm On Feb 03, 2023
At the date of application, he wasn't 18 so there shouldn't be any issues 👍

Evraunited:
Hi guys,

Please a friend’s son recently got his dependant visa and he will be turning 18 next week, can he still enter UK freely after he turns 18, since he already got the visa.

Please kindly advise if there will be an issue at the point of entry. Thanks

According to their guidelines, they will send a letter by post and if no response for a certain period of time, then by email.

tshoboy:
Do people get notified when this happens?
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by Bourne007(m): 6:12pm On Jan 17, 2023
I will suggest he rectifies it in-country. It can take an average of 6 weeks and can't work. It can be tracked too

I think you will have to take it back to the centre but can take weeks to issue a new vignette if you decide to go through this route.

Lindakam:
Thank you for responding. Although, the issue is on the visa not the brp. He hasn't travelled yet.
