Please understand the question. What is the source? Before 1999 - 2007 name his factories or businesses. As at 1999 he only had an office in Tiamiyu Savage street, VI. Thanks.
PoliticsRe: Lagos My State; Who Owns Lagos? History 101:point Of Information by Cantonese: 1:21pm On Mar 03, 2019
aremuforlife:
LAGOS MY STATE; WHO OWNS LAGOS? HISTORY 101:POINT OF INFORMATION

"By 1872 Lagos was a cosmopolitan trading center with a population of over 60,000 people. Colonial Lagos developed into a busy, cosmopolitan port, with an architecture that blended Victorian and Brazilian styles. The Brazilian element was imparted by skilled builders and masons who had returned from Brazil The black elite was composed of English-speaking "Saros" from Sierra Leone and other emancipated slaves who had been repatriated from Brazil and Cuba.
By 1872 the population of the colony was over 60,000, of whom less than 100 were of European origin.

In 1876 imports were valued at £476,813 and exports at £619,260. Telephone links with Britain were established by 1886, and electric street lighting in 1898.
In August 1896, Charles Joseph George and G.W. Neville, both merchants and both unofficial members of the Legislative Council, presented a petition urging construction of the railway terminus on Lagos Island rather than at Ido, and also asking for the railway to be extended to Abeokuta. Lagos history is rich in Yoruba tradition, trade and commerce, infrastructural development and cosmopolitanism." -EXTRACTED

With the little facts above, I would like to educate some illiterates making stupid assumption from blind sentiments that they developed Lagos.

Lagosians had telephone presence in 1886, Itu and Calabar got connected to Telephone in 1923, while between 1946 and 1952, a three-channel line carrier system was commissioned between Lagos and Ibadan and was later extended to Osogbo, Kaduna, Kano, Benin, and Enugu.

Communication technology is a major signifier of civilizations and if Lagosians were already making telephone calls more than 70 years before Igbo citizens, where then did you get the warped idea that you came to develop Lagos?

By 1856 Cable and Wireless Company of the UK had commissioned a submarine cable link between Lagos and London and in 1851 a post office was established in Lagos; all these before the emergence of Nigeria as an amalgamated country. If I may ask again, where did the stupid idea that Igbo developed Lagos come from? Or that Lagos was developed with Nigeria's money when Lagos was not even part of Nigeria until 1914.

I always feel embarrassed anytime I read and hear even so-called educated people from the East making these stupid assertions.

The first Yoruba lawyer Christopher Alexander Sapara Williams was called to the English Bar in 1879 whilst the first Igbo lawyer, Sir Louis Mbanefo, was called to the English bar in 1937.

Again the first Yoruba medical practitioner, Dr. Nathaniel King, graduated in 1875 from the University of Edinburgh whilst the first Igbo medical practitioner, Dr. Akannu Ibiam, graduated from another Scottish University in 1935. Again I ask, where did the ignorant hypothesis of the backward Yoruba race who needed development by the superior Igbo race come from?

For the sake of our generation and posterity, we need to teach factual history and not just cook up some cock and bull ego-centric concoctions as facts. The attitude of recycling long tales steeped in empty arrogance should be discarded before you miseducate your kids with fictions.

Awolowo will continue to be the Yoruba hero not because of blind followership but because he gave his people the system of free education, free healthcare and he introduced Television to the Yoruba; making Yorubaland the first region to have a TV station in Africa, all done with revenues from Cocoa. It is crass ignorance and naked buffonery to claim Lagos was built with Nigeria's money. In addition, where did the foolish idea that the Igbo brought civilization to Lagos and Yoruba-land come from?

The aim of this post is not to deride any tribe but to correct the dangerous misinformation trending among some Igbo youths and common in their narratives that Lagos is a no-man's land and that their fathers built and developed Lagos.

Ancestors of Igbo people came to Yoruba-land like all other settlers and we appreciate their contributions. But the stupid claim that Igbo built and developed Lagos is a gross display of stupidity because Lagos was already developed before Igbo ancestors came here from their villages and towns.

The first storey building in Nigeria was built in Marina, Badagry in 1845, long before some of hinterland people gave up the idea of conical mud houses with thatched roofs which some boastfully called 'ancient mansions.' How can you now claim your grand-sires developed Lagos? Please if you are one of those spreading the fiction, I expect you to desist from self-delusion and collective amnesia forthwith.

The first Igbo alphabet-character set and Igbo primer (Isoama-Ibo) was published by Bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther (a Yoruba man from Osogun) in 1857. How can you now claim superiority over the Yoruba race and even carelessly affirm that your forebears should be thanked for bringing enlightenment to Yoruba Land?

While I do not see all these achievements as a sign of Yoruba superiority over the Igbo or any other tribe, for I do not believe in racial superiority; I will not also tolerate any attempt by bigots who stoke ethnic hatred through incitement and arrogant claims of superiority over others.

What a waste of time and internet data!
You have not done any research and you have not given us any historical information about Lagos. My friend if you want to talk about the history of Lagos, please start from the story of the Benin claim under Oba Orhogbua in the 16th century when Lagos was regarded as a war camp by the Binis. Tell us how the throne of Lagos came about and how the Lagos chiefs came to dress like the Binis. Tell us about the Aworis and their role. An educated person seeks proper information and feeds people with proper information.
Tell people about the diplomatic and economic relationship between the then people of Lagos after the 16th century and other city states that became Nigeria.
Until you have done that please I advice you do not venture into things you no nothing about.
You can visit the palace of the Oba of Lagos and get first hand information. You may also ask any good history teacher who knows the history of Lagos. That is if you care. If you cannot find any please feel free to call me and I will narrate the history of Lagos to you.

Lastly I advice us all to be very careful about one fire called tribalism that is threatening to destroy this country. You can all see why the issue of restructuring must be addressed frontally. If we cannot continue as a nation, then we must part on peaceful grounds. The politicians everyday use the youths as veritable tools for crisis and destabilisation, yet they call the same youths lazy. It is the youths who will go to war. In the unlikely event of war the politicians already have passports, visas and cash. They will run away. We need to treat ourselves with utmost respect irrespective of tribe or religion.

1. Why do they hate Tinubu? What for?
2. Tinubu never worked with federal or eastern Nigeria talk less of stealing Ndi Igbo money?
He never worked as minister or taken any federal appointment!
3. He never joined APGA talk less of sabotaging their party?
4. He didn't meddle in Igbo internal affairs!
5. Why do they call him thieves? What did he steal?
6. Why calling Yoruba "slaves". Who is actually ?
7. Why putting mouth in Lagos politics?.
8. Can Yoruba man become chairman in the east? Yet you enjoy all here!
9. Why asking for what you can't give?
10. Why do they not focus on their land and zone, why Yoruba land?
11. Can they tell Hausa "o to gee" in kaduna or Sokoto?
12. Why abusing our tolerance?
13. Can they survive Yoruba attack in Yoruba land?
14. Do they know that they have a lot to loose?
15. How I wish they receive sense, their poke nosing could be trouble fishing.
16. Why not "O to gee" in Abia, Enugu or Oweri?
17. Can man from Abia become a commissioner in Enugu? Yet it happened here! Why not be careful.
18. You choose your own APGA and dash PDP yet Tinubu is your headache, why?
19. Other ethnics are either mumu or lazy except you the most hardworking humans. Why wouldn't you allow lazy Yoruba live?
20. Why looking for avoidable problem? Why?
21. It was you in the north being attacked, in Malaysia being killed, in Gabon and Ghana?
22. You choose Kanu we choose Tinubu, you choose Azikwe we choose Awolowo, you choose APGA we choose APC, why agitating?
23. I pray it ends well with una o.
Yoruba are yet to say Tinubu is their problem why you? Why working in APGA but planning to collect salaries in APC?
So to you all these questions make sense? Did you think deeply before putting together your 23 questions? Have you heard the proverb "person when never go another person papa farm go say na im papa own better pass"?

Where were you when Tinubu was governor in Lagos? Did you ask what his occupation was before he became governor? Did he tell you how many factories he owned before he became governor? In the political context do you know what it is to be a god father? Do you remember that a god father in Nigerian politics expects returns? Do you know how much he gets as returns from his political god sons and daughters? Why did Rotimi Akeredolu say o to geh to Tinubu? Have you heard about Alpha Beta and the story behind it?

See you need to know that ethnic bickerings will lead this country no where. While you are there thinking the Igbos are staking claims in Lagos do you realise that the Yoruba and Igbo political leaders are out there shaking hands and deciding together who owns this or who will do this?

In the last election APC got seats in the east. Who voted there for APC? Did you travel there to vote? NO! It was the Igbo APC supporters who voted. APGA lost seats to APC and PDP. Did you not reckon with that?

What we need in this country is good leadership. We need leadership that can be held accountable. We do not need leaders that will keep bewitching us. We should not be blind followers. It will not matter the person's tribe or religion.

Please verify your facts before you put your thoughts for discussion.

Cheers.

I think this will help out some troubled marriages. It will stop the women from moving out and also stop men from throwing out their wives. Sincerely many homes are facing crisis with baby husbands and baby wives.

Thank God for this judge who dug out this law. I think it will instill some fear in many couples.

We have children from broken homes suffering different forms of abuses. The man our of anger did nor care about his own children. He wanted them thrown out with their mom.

Now for the women the judgement is clear. Allowances are for children and not for the divorced women. That should make women think properly before contemplating divorce.

Air Nigeria stopped operating in 2012 due to the debt they were facing. They fired hundreds of staffs because they couldn't pay salaries anymore.
Nigeria air has also suspended launch indefinitely , although the aviation minister claims $300 million will be spent from 2018 to 2020. sad
The truth about our country is that corruption has eaten very deep into almost every facet and trust has beem completely eroded.

Everyday there is a new avenue to embezzle and the people in charge get more innovative everyday. Until an event like what Jerry Rawlings did in Ghana in 1980 takes place here, I am afraid moving forward is difficult.

The amount $300 million should not be an issue in a billion dollar industry like aviation when you talk about Nigeria. We should be able to boast of at least 50 aircrafts flying all over the world. Our airports are regarded as disgrace compared to other countries that had their independence like us. But the same word "corruption" will not permit it.

What are we going to do? Do we keep praying? We have the largest concentration of churches here. The amount of mosques can compare with Indonesia. Yet we are not moving. Politicians deceive us daily by telling us that our country is moving forward.

I sincerely hope that someone will take the aviation business seriously and good laws can be put in place to help out.
PoliticsRe: Buhari’s Victory: Ribadu Assures Nigerians Of Better Life by Cantonese: 7:42am On Mar 02, 2019
agwom:
Malam Nuhu Ribadu, Director of Field Operations Directorate, All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, has assured Nigerians of better living condition in the next four years of President Muhammadu Buhari’s leadership.

Ribadu, the pioneer Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), gave the assurance at a thank you reception for members of the directorate on Friday in Abuja.

“We will continue to be happy in the next four years because we have re-elected a good man.

“Buhari is a good man, he is genuine, he is a honest and fair gentlema

“He will protect our resources, he will not allow bad people to cheat us and steal from our commonwealth, he will not, and that is what we want in a leader.

“He will not go and sell Nigeria, he will not sell whatever that we have, he will not sit with anybody to plot evil or do bad thing, he will not,” Ribadu said.

He added that ahead of the Feb. 23, Presidential and National Assembly elections, Buhari refused to allow the traditional way of politicians and did not take advantage of public institutions to achieve his desire.

According to him, Buhari refused to interfere with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), but rather charged the directorate to sell APC to Nigerians who have the final say.

He added that it was not about money, or intimidation, saying that Nigerian electorate were given free opportunity and chance to decide and they decided through their votes.

“Ladies and gentlemen, let us be proud of ourselves, we did something that money cannot buy, we did it honestly and only God can testify to that,” Ribadu said.

He urged members of the directorate to be proud of themselves for campaigning for President Buhari and the party’s candidates ahead of the elections, adding that they would be rewarded.

He said their reward may not be immediate, but that they would certainly be rewarded.

Ribadu, however, said that the general elections were not over, because the Governorship and State House of Assembly elections were still ahead.

He, therefore, appealed to members of the directorate to go back and continue to campaign for APC candidates, saying that it was not yet time to rest until it was over.

“We have another election coming up on March 9, it is a very important election for the party, I want to appeal to all of us, let us take it as very important.

“We have already done a wonderful job and we are capable of doing that again, the work we are doing is a continuation of supporting President Buhari because he would need a party that has majority of states.

“He would need more governors so that he can carry on with his work and implement the policies of our party.

“The governors would also require our own State House of Assembly members. Governance is about a team work,” Ribadu said. (NAN)

By 2023 it will become 16 - 8. If there is no difference will people repeat the same story they said about 16 - 4? Or will people wait until it is 16 - 16 before they can decide? Hopefully like the Americans predicted this country would not have divided along tribal lines before then.

When there is a spread in development across the towns and communities making up a state the governor does not need to go to the TV and newspapers to project himself. It is said "action speaks louder than words". Great governors work great things with the resources at their disposal, no matter how little. What can we say about excuse giving governors across the north and south. In some states it is hard to see what the governors do. Some put all bill boards and large screens across the state like the former governor of Delta state, Uduaghan. Look at Kebbi, Zamfara, Yobe, Ondo, Oyo, Abia. What are their governors doing?

Until we begin to hold leadership accountable we we remain stagnant in this country. Until we remove the logs used to close our eyes by the political class we will remain where we are.

They've been changing the name, it's still air Nigeria.

I doubt if there's any hope for Air Nigeria, they spent ridiculous amount of cash on branding. Expenses like that will bring the company down.

I haven't read the report, I'll check for it and read it.

There's no surprise there, probably explains why someone like Abdusalam abubabkar doesn't have any if his businesses listed on his Wikipedia page. He purchased a disco when GEJ was championing privatization, stuff like this go unnoticed by Nigerians.
Surely just like all the discos are owned by the political leaders across all parties. Shamelessly lesser countries like Ethiopia and Kenya have projected their airlines very well and make plenty of profit. Yearly new aircrafts are added to increase their fleet. Ironically Nigerians patronise them more than national of other African countries. Some of them are licensed to operate from Abuja, Lagos, Enugu, Kano and Port harcourt airports owing to their popularity.

Hopefully we have have pure nationalists as leaders in this country someday and the glory of our country can rise again.

Kindly exchange information with me on air Nigeria if you have any.

Do have a great weekend.

Despite a resounding victory in the just concluded presidential elections, the battles within the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, seem far from over as the Party's National Working Committee, NWC, has suspended Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha and Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun.

PoliticsNGR learned that both politicians have also be recommended for expulsion from the party. This development was announced on Friday afternoon in Abuja after an NWC meeting.

Okorocha and Amosun won senatorial seats in last Saturday's National assembly elections.

The suspension is coming shortly after both governors were accused of 'Anti-Party' activities following their support for Gubernatorial candidates from different parties.

Arik air has been in serious debt, they recently started gaining profit because of a change in management. Aviation business isn't as profitable as you imagine it to be, especially in Nigeria.
"they recently started gaining profit because of a change in management"

1. Study Emirates and see how an airline that started with less than 5 aircrafts in 1985 now boasts of close to 250 aircrafts.

2. Mismanagement is the problem with airlines e.g Laker airlines in 1981 in the UK that packed up. Also study Nigeria airways.

Air travel is very lucrative. Do not be discouraged. Let us all encourage our own so that this country can get better.

I can't be crying more than the bereaved.
Two reasons Yorubas voted for Buhari:

1. Their wicked and evil wish for the president not to overcome his health issues. This way they can by the constitution get the presidency.

2. They did not feel the full wrath of the Fulanis in Yoruba land like the people of the south south, south east and north central. But hopefully they will have complete heat over the next four years and learn their lesson the hard way.

Originakalokalo:
Igbo taking over Lagos is a wrong statement that is meant to incite violence.....

There is nothing like that.. This belief is only on nairaland...in reality, it is not true.

That said, all strangers should respect their host and pray for their success. While land owners should not oppress the strangers.

This is biblical

God bless Nigeria.
That's neither here no there. The hard truth out there is the claim of the Yorubas that the Igbos are taking over their lands. It is meant also to incite the Yorubas against the Igbos. Please if you live in Lagos it will be very deceptive if you claim that you do not know about the deliberate refusal of a lot of Yoruba landlords to rent out their houses to non Yorubas.

I was in Ladipo market yesterday and I spoke with a Yoruba lady. She clearly said the Igbos are takin over their lands. She asked why the Igbos would stay in Yoruba land and vote PDP instead of APC. For her those were the reason for the crisis in Oshodi.

If you fail to reason along with the OP it is either that you are simply biased or you have not given it a careful thought. The Yorubas in the east have not been eaten as claimed. Many Yorubas go to the east and never want to get back. Many Yorubas, even with their deep tribal marks speak very fluent Igbo language. Many Yorubas belong to some Igbo social clubs. The aso ebi culture of the Yorubas has been copied by the Igbos. You are always welcome in the South east and South south. The problem with the uninformed is what they hear from their leaders in Yoruba land. They just listen to wrong stories and carry fake news everywhere.

My dear friend it is said that without venture you cannot succeed. If Tinubu did not Action congress with Buhari's CPC the party would still be a regional party today. Now Yorubas go to campaign with the APC all over the country and they are accepted in Igbo land.

We need to pray for the blind Yorubas to see.

How will you feel if a prospective landlord charges higher rent because you are Igbo? Lands become costlier because you are Igbo. It is most unfair. The Yorubas should be shed the garment of rascism and let us have greater communal living.
PoliticsThe Chance To Restructure Nigeria Has Gone! by Cantonese(op): 8:38am On Feb 27, 2019
For those of us who supported Buhari/APC before the 2015 election, we followed when we were constantly told that one of the plans of the in coming government would be to restructure. No sooner that they got power, they told us that it was not part of their plan. Before then all we heard was that the Yorubas were marginalized, the northerners were narginalized, everywhere was marginalization and the only solution would be restructuring. Suddenly restructuring was no longer in the plan!

A careful look at the political leaders of this country reveals very selfish, greedy, foolish and totally visionless people.

Oil blocks are largely held by the northern elite. The cities where oil is sourced live in hardship, poverty and suffering. They will never let go.

I do not think that restructuring means separation. It simply is staying as one country but using what you have to develop your own region while you contribute a particular part of it for further growth through the center.

How can certain highly undeveloped parts of this country step out of suffering with the selfishness of the political class? For how long will we continue to suffer in the midst of plenty? Everyday we are told that resources are not enough to take care of the country's needs. Why is it so? The logical reason is that resources are brought to the center and a few people decide what and what to do.

Atiku vigorously campaigned with restructuring as his slogan. I believed him absolutely and it would have been possible with him as a president. The opportunity has gone. Marginalization continues; poverty, illiteracy and backwardness in the north continues; too much grammar with nothing to show for it in the south continues, the elite who hold oil blocks continue enjoying their wealth. Our "intergrity" president continues as a hostage to those who know more than him.

When will the salvation of this country come?

nothing gives me more joy than see PDP cry bitterly..... I'm more happy to see Atiku bank accounts showing red lights.karma is simply wicked
Thank God you said PDP. Have you considered the implication of the loss of the opportunity to have a president that would move the likes of you out of poverty, hunger, crisis and failure?

As you delight in seeing PDP cry hopefully you will delight in seeing yourself and your like minds cry within the period of this government arising from the level of poverty, killings and crisis you are about to experience.

It seems you dwell in medority. How has PDP serves us during it's regime.
Delta state needs a strong opposition so that the politicians are up to their toes to deliver their promises and if not they will be thrown out.
With all our resources there is nothing to show for it.
So calling the Urhobos and Itsekiris akone is the "strong opposition"? Bros na wah for you sef. Are you from Panya or where?

The two pdp senators who won in delta are based on one or two...

But come 9th of March the mandate is to vote for OGBURU massively...

I call on all urhobo sons and daughters to vote for the rightful governor of delta state..

Isoko sons and daughters to vote for OGBURU

Minority has been ruling for 12 years....the last four years has seen teachers not paid on time.... LG workers been hold for 8 -10months.

We need jobs
We need human capital development

And OGBURU is the man for that....

Vote chief great OGBURU for governor of delta State...
As in seriously did you mean it? Thank God you said Isoko and Urhobo sons and daughters. What about the Ibos, Itsekiri, Ijaws and other ethnic tribes living in Delta state? Did you forget them or they are no longer there? So Delta state belongs to only the Isokos and Urhobos?

Hopefully you are not an ethnic jingoist as is said.

Well if you have forgotten the unwritten rotation agreement. The Urhobos had their turn with Ibori in 1999 - 2007; Itsekiris 2007 - 2015 with Uduaghan; now the Ibos with Okowa from 2015 - 2023. Thereafter power goes back to the Urhobos. There however is an issue. Your man Great Ogboru inspite of the great in his name has chosen to remain in the wrong party all the time. What is wrong with him? I tell you he thinks that the Urhobos make up the entire population of Delta state and if he joins any party he is sure to win. Bros that is what you are facing too. I am an Urhobo man and just like Ibori I chose to support all ethnic tribes in Delta state because we are one.

If you take a look at the election results in Delta state as announced you will tell yourself the truth by yourself. Omo Agege won be a lot of efforts and sentiments. I am also sure that by some majic done as usual by APC there he beat Evelyn.

Do you know that Okowa is a grassroots politician? How can Ogboru defeat him? The battle is too big for him.

Bros please advice our brother Chief Ogboru to remember that Delta is a PDP state. He should please decamp to PDP early enough so that he can get the governorship by 2023.

For you too please try your luck next time.
