CodeTemplar:Go and read up on Venezuela and what subsidy has done to them. They have the most oil reserves in the world (more than Saudi) , their petrol is the cheapest in the world thanks to subsidies and 97% of the population lives in poverty. That’s the path Nigeria was on. It’s no coincidence we became the poverty capital of the world in the last 12 years under the subsidy regime. No point in arguing with you anyway. Subsidy is gone and it ain’t coming back, if you like strike, when hunger catch all of una nobody will tell you to buy petrol or buy a bicycle and go to work. |
Parachoko:They have misread the mood of the nation, When they are tired and they are ready to go back to work they should let us know. Subsidy is gone and never coming back. |
CodeTemplar:What is the root of insecurity…..Poverty. What is the cause of poverty,…..hopelessness caused by lack of investment in infrastructure education and things that promote the productive sectors of the economy and create good jobs. Why can’t govt invest in education infrastructure and other sectors of the economy that will create jobs and reduce poverty….because out of every 4 Naira government receives, it borrows another 1 to subsidize petrol. If you cannot see the link, there is no point in continuing this discussion. |
Subsidy is gone, if you like don’t go to work, when you are day to work, petrol price will still be the same except this time you won’t get paid while on strike thanks to SC judgement. |
Blaze14k:You are an example of why people should use condoms and not give birth to children they cannot properly educate else they become a nuisance and a liability to society. |
Blaze14k:You are clearly not just an ignoramus but an imbecil3. The figures are out there, we spend an average of $10b a year on subsidy, over 8 years that is $80b. What does this have to do with external debt? It shows you don’t know what you are talking about. My advice to you is to shut up. Because you have acces to internet does not mean you must comment. External debt and subsidy are 2 different unrelated matters. |
Honsla:A Nigerian senator earns $2000 a month, a us senator earns $15,0000 a month. They all get expenses and allowances. But that is not the point, a government jet that costs $50m is $50m where it is in America, Ghana or Nigeria. A president will get a salary whether his population is 2m or 200m. The difference between the salary of a president of a country with 2m will not be that different from the salary of a president of a country of 300m. But there are certain things that are proportional to the size of the population, the economy and other metrics of a country. If your GDP is $500m and you spend $10b on petrol subsidy, then 2% of your economy is fuel subsidy. If your GDP is 23 trillion, $10b is only 0.04%. We are spending 50 times the proportion of our GDP on subsidy compared to America. Also Nigeria has only 11m cars, America has 262m cars. So per car the subsidy in America is 24 times less. Further more govt revenue in Nigeria Is $40b, in America it is $2.6 TRILLION. A country making 2.6 trillion in taxes and revenue spending $10b on 262 million cars is not the same as another making $40b in revenues spending a quarter of his total revenue on just 11m cars. Like I said we are not mates. |
Blaze14k:I said list the benefits of $80b on subsidy in 8 years. Point to the lasting legacies of subsidy. The poverty that you wish for Nigerians with this subsidy will befall you and your generations. Say Amen since subsidy is so great! |
Blaze14k:What has the kindness of subsidy done for you? How many roads, rail, hospitals, good schools, electricity generation plants has it bought you. The $80b that was spent on subsidy in the last 8 years where is it he benefit so you can show me? You can’t, because it has all gone up in smoke through the back of exhaust pipes. $80b in the last 8 years. Nothing to show, nothing to bequeath to the next generation. Yet Lagos Ibadan express way, Lagos - Ibadan rail, 2nd Niger bridge, will be there for generations and together cost less than $4b. And yet you sit there and type that we should continue to borrow to burn $8b a year that will have nothing to show after a year talk less of passing on to the next generation. And it is me you call wicked? You are complete and utter fool!!! The poverty that you are wishing on Nigerians with subsidy may it never leave your generations!!! Idiot!!!!! |
Blaze14k:Oga if you have N500-700, or whatever the rate maybe to buy a liter of petrol, they will sell to you, if you don’t have, I suggest you sell your car and buy a bicycle. Those are your 2 options, everything else is just noise. Venezuela was once one of the worlds largest producers of Oil, till today it has one of the cheapest pump prices for petrol due to subsidies. Today it is officially the most miserable country in the world. That was where Nigeria was heading. |
Nigeria spends $10b a yr on petrol subsidy, America spends $10b a year on petrol subsidy, are we mates? What kind of a fool is this man? Is America borrowing the $10b for subsidy? |
Blaze14k:There is no fucking back up plan you slowpoke! The only back up plan is to stop living a life of fantasy, indulgence and start living a life of realities. If you have borrowed to eat and borrowed to feed your neighbor for years. The day there is no more money to borrow to finance your illusion, you are forced to face your realities….that day has come! Backup plan ko, back up plan ni , palliative this , palliative that, that is the illusion that has brought us to where we are. There is no money for subsidy, there is no money for palliative. Get used to the reality. It’s onlY in a poor country of poor men with poor mimdsets that poor men will be driving gas guzzling 4wd trucks. Serious countries drive economy cars conscious of fuel economy. Now all of us will have to face the realities of the illusion and delusion…there is no more money!!!! Now Nigerians will understand that the same tank of petrol can take you twice the distance if we stop speeding accelataring and braking anyhow. It’s only in Nigeria that people, buy cars without any knowledge of the fuel consumption, all that will change now. If you like, buy petrol @ 500 or 700, if you like you don’t. If you like you go on strike when you don’t get paid you will come back and buy petrol At the market rate. If you like buy Toyota Tundra or 5 liter Mercedes’, if you like downgrade to Corolla. If you like buy petrol at 500 and burn all the petrol speeding, if you like you go slowly and extend your range. Nobody will tell Nigerians before they borrow themselves a brain. If you like you carpool, if you like buy bicycle. , if you like make the roads your second home. If you like work from home and stop unnecessary journies If you like don’t go to work, but know you won’t eat. |
Blaze14k:You are the one who is unntelligent. All the 4 major candidates have said they will remove subsidy. Peter Obi specifically said “from day 1”. So this has nothing to do with Tinubu. Let us now try and approach this from an intelligent point of view ( if you are indeed capable of intelligence) 1. Immediately Tinubu announced the full removal of subsidy, petrol prices went up in Cameron, Togo, Benin. What does that tell you, what does Nigeria have to do with these countries? You use the word intelligent so I assume you can do the math. 2. We have been borrowing to subsidize petrol to the tune of $10b a year, mind you our total government expenditure in a year is about $40b. So a quarter of our expenditure goes to subsidize petrol including petrol in neighboring countries. Not only that we are borrowing the money. What this means is a family has no money to feed itself, to clothe its children, to pay for electricity, to send its children to school but is BORROWING to feed its neighbors. 3. What right do you have to subsidized petrol? Ghana is an oil producing country, petrol costs N870/ liter. Of all the countries in west Africa Nigeria has the cheapest petrol, the next cheapest is more than f 4x. Clealrly our petrol price is unsustainable. All these countries are surviving while paying petrol 4 times what we pay In Nigeria. None of them are listed as poverty capital of the world. 4. Do you know what $10b a year can do for infrastructure, roads, rail school, heath etc. 5.finally it is not like ther is some $10b somewhere that we were spending yearly on subsidy, we were borrowing the money to maintain subsidy. Look at the table below, does it make any sense to you? Mind you this is calculated assuming Naira is fully floated (715 to $)
|
Djele:“No matter how long you protest, we are going to remove subsidy”….BAT He is ready for you. When you are ready to go to work, petrol stations will be ready for you with zero subsidy. Remember Supreme Court ruling…no work no pay. |
Fineman2:At 35, this is probably your last chance to marry. The older a woman gets the worse her choices, so if you think this man is bad, the ones that will be available to you at 40 if any will be worse. It’s your choice, manage or be single. Don’t forget an man Dey marry wife no be woman Dey marry husband….at 35 you may never get a man to propose to you again. |
If you like strike, when you don tire you will go back to work with. O subsidy |
You mean the roads Obingo constructed? I don’t believe this They knew he was a quack and a charlatan but they tried to masquerade their ethnic agenda to deceive us thinking we are all fools. Cc bobloco
|
Bobloco:Have you looked at your own post history? Nonsense bigot. No vancsncy in Aso rock for IPOB. When we do 8 years, north will do 8 and if have not borrowed yourselves brain by then, SS will do 8 and then back to North. |
Ezemeiyogu:2 different things. I was pointing out that in Uzodinma’s case the votes from 388 polling units were never included in the results that declared The PDP guy governor. It was not a case of “allocating” votes as he claimed but simply saying INEC did not include these 388 PUs, before they declared a winner, now that we had included them, Uzodinma had more votes. On to your point, yes you are right but it is very unlikely that enough votes were so improperly attributed in states like zamfara, Gombe etc such you can overturn a result of 1% into 25%. In states like Rivers yes, in states like Alwa ibom where he got close to 25% but not 25% yes. But those states are less than a handful . The majority of states where he got less than 25%, his score was so low that it is highly improbable to any right thinking person than any re attribution will take him to 25%. They are not states where any reasonable person ( I emphasize reasonable) cauldron ever have expected Obi to get 25%. It’s like Tinubu challenging Anambra state expecting to win 25%….how?? Even the River state they won they themselves openly said all they were begging Wike for was 25% because they know it is impossible. He needs 9 more states, assuming he overturns Rivers and Akwa Ibom, he needs another 7. Look at the table I posted again and tell me where he will get the 25% from and the probability that he could ever have such a result in those states.
|
tuborme:And yet since February that you Obingo have been compiling the results , you have not been able to show anything? Shebi you were all making noise that you will do Obingo complication, why una never publish am? If you won at the polling booth why are you so desperate for disqualification to the point of making idiots of yourselves by bringing disqualification arguments to court that are dead on arrival? |
Agadinaagwuofe:Your mistake was to engage someone with superior intellect. You think I am one of your fellow 0biodiots that has no brain cells? You made mistake quoting me true but then you still go on to quote me. Clearly you do t learn from your mistakes…typical OBINGO IPOB behavior. |
Wahabfuture:The word you are looking for is “inconsequential”. ………bloody Illiterate! |
DMerciful:How daft are you people? EC8 is from where? Do you know what an EC8 form is? |
Wahabfuture:Court cannot handle Wetim no Dey, if it didn’t Dey it didn’t Dey!,, you cannot turn 0.5% in states like zamfar to 25%. Obingo Omugo ode jati jati |
HIGHESTPOPORI:Is it only 30? I heard he also got 25% in the 50 states of America. Awon Obingo ode jati jati. |
Agadinaagwuofe:You are ignorant. The court cannot award votes, that just shows how stupid and ignorant you are. Uzodinma became governor because he proved that the results from 388 polling booths were not collated. When the results of those PU were added it proved Uzodinma won. There is nothing like court awarding votes. It also just shows that you people are nothing but crooks in disguise and hypocrites that you chastised Uzodinma for being a Supreme Court governor wrongly claiming he was awarded votes but now you are seeking the Supreme Court to award you votes, na so them they award vote? Awon ode!!!! |
Agadinaagwuofe:Keep deluding yourselves. The reason why you are trying to disqualify Tinubu is because obi and his lawyers know that Obi cannot be declared winner based on the election results. Worst case is that it goes to a rerun and either Tinubu or Atiku will win. The only possible argument for a Tinubu disqualification was double nomination and the Supreme Court has ruled that not only is it none of your business but the nomination is in order. |
HIGHESTPOPORI: DMerciful:Obi only go 25% in 15 states plus Abuja, total of 16. Let us assume he manages to get akwa ibom ( where he is close to 25%) and Rivers that we all know was massively rigged to make a total of 18, he still needs an additional 7 states. Now please look at the results posted and tell me which of these states he can manufacture 25% from. Is it jigawa, zamfara, katsina, yobe sokoto, Borneo Kano, kebbi where he got less than 2%? Or is it Osun Bauchi Ekiti, Gombe Keats ondo where he got between 3% and 9%. If not that is already 14 states out of a possible 19. Meaning there are only 5 states from which to claw the statutory 25%…and which are those states left? Niger, Oyo, Kongi, Kara, Adamawa and Ogun where he has between 10 and 15%. He is not going to get Oyo or Ogun, Kogi or Niger so where is the 25% coming from? Even if he gets all 5, he needs 7.
|
Akwamkpuruamu:We are in power already, you are the one out of power. The inauguration proved we won, it is for you to prove you won not for us. Our job is to get on with the business of government. |
Parachoko:FACT! Even if Tinubu is disqualified and his votes voided, neither Atiku nor Obi satisfied the requirements to become president. Therefore in the extremely unlikely scenario that Tinubu is disqualified, it will go to a rerun between Atiku and Obi and Obi will lose. In the event that Tinubu is not disqualified but determined not to have satisfied the requirements, the rerun will be between Tinubu and Atiku or in the event he manages to prove he came second, Tinubu and Obi. In all the scenarios above Obi will lose because the north will either vote for Tinubu or Atiku in any rerun involving Obi and another. |
Cloudflare:23million Nigerians (over 99% of voters) voted for fuel subsidy removal. If you voted for PDP, APC, NNPP or LP, you voted for subsidy removal. They all had immediate subsidy removal in their manifestos. If you are complaining maybe you voted for a party that was lying about removing subsidy. |
