Now investors will be taking a trip to broad street to know what's up with their investments or what?
PoliticsRe: Lessons To Learn From 'oga At The Top' Saga by cecegorz(m): 10:46pm On Mar 16, 2013
Good tips, to add to that;
1. When on an official setting, use official designation of your organization. If the man has said the commandant general or whatever the boss is called officially, it wouldn't have portrayed him as an a.ss licker.
2. Stop shouting on top of your voice, even on this forum, you can only fool fellow I.diots like yourself. Having a calm mien makes people think you are full of wisdom, even when you are still a learner.
3. When you are the boss in an environment you don't have understanding yet, surround yourself with very competent subordinates and listen to them carefully.

HealthRe: Coping With Mental Illness In Nigeria: A Beautiful Writer's Experience by cecegorz(m): 7:09pm On Mar 16, 2013
Seun: The writer had to drive herself to a hospital and she had to convince the doctors that she had a problem. If you're waiting for your mum to understand, you may have to wait forever. Talk to family friends, and maybe one of them will understand and convince your mum to help you.
May be we'll arrange free buses to Yaba from major bus stops, I am sure a good number of Nairalanders will benefit from the gesture.
You only need to read one or two topics in politics session to understand the enormity of the situation.

CareerRe: Should Workers Who Use "My Oga At The Top" Joke During Office Hours Be Punished? by cecegorz(m): 3:11pm On Mar 16, 2013
acidtalk: I went to a Glo Customer care centre yesterday to make a complain and to my greatest surpeise and dismail, the guy attending to me kept on repeating "Let me go and ask my oga at the top", "don't ask me, go and ask our oga at the top" refering to his colleagues (a male and a female). While the female chukkled a few times, the other guy was obviously irritated and kept on frowning. He didn't utter a word probably because of the few customers around.

Samething thing happened at a GT Bank branch same yesterday. A junir staff came to take some files from her colleague to go delivver to a senior staff upstairs. To my disgust the male staff kept asking "is it the oga at the top that told you to come and take this file?". The obvuiosly irritated and tired female colleague had to audibly ask him if he wasn't tired of repeating same joke all day? The guy was obviously embarrased as even some customers on queue scolded him for not acting like a professional during office hours with such joke.

I just read on another thread on nairaland about how a doctor repeated this same joke to an anxious mother who brought her sick child to the hospital.

My Question is, Shouldn't organizations pass a memo to ban this trending joke during Office house amongst its employees?
You are damn hilarious man! Though trying to sound serious.
You mean a whole company execs will have to sit down in a meeting just to craft out penalties for staff using 'oga at the top' jokes?
You must be a joker!
Enjoy it while it lasts bro, Nigeria in itself is one big comedy central. This will soon pass away, another gaffe is already on the queue.

CareerRe: What If You Were In "Oga At The Top's" Shoe? by cecegorz(m): 2:24pm On Mar 16, 2013
Jarus: Teachable moment. Beyond the comedy. What if you were in "oga at the top's" shoes? How would you have answered a simple question you don't know in a public space? For example, I had been using BB for 3 years before I knew the full meaning of DP? What if I was on live TV, discussing 'politics and the social media' and one thing led to the other I was required to tell the full meaning of DP (e.g I mention DP and the presenter asks me to enlighten him on what DP means). How would you have managed such situation? If I was in such situation I would have played with words. For the DP case, I would have played with words and answered like this: "Maupe, one interesting thing about social media is that a number of abbreviations fly around, that people are even less interested in their meaning, but the message they pass. For example, popular as it is, we still have people that don't know the full meaning of lol. In essence, people are more concerned with what DP is about. I know the P-part means picture, but you will be surprised I may not be able tell exactly what the D stands for. Definitely, me and you know what DP is about - the picture in the short data page of your BBM. And that's the most important."

I need suggestions on how to manage our "oga-at-the-top's" situation. What is the least embarrassing way to manage such situation i.e being asked your organization's website on live TV and you don't know it?

How do you salvage such situation? How do you minimize, if not outrightly eliminate, the embarrassment?

And generally, how do you manage embarrassing situations in public/interviews etc?
Your DP analogy does not in any way relate to Mr Shem's situation.
One funny thing I've found all around social media commentators is that most people are completely ignorant of the basis on which the State commandant was invited for an interview in the first place.
He was solely invited because many job seekers has been swindled by phishing fraudsters using clones of NSCDC website to advertise and collect payments for the job. The very first thing he should have come to the table with is the correct URL of the organization, so as to educate Nigerians and also clear the air that the frauds was an insider job.
He ended up confusing the populace without giving any address, making it look like the 'oga at the top' is actually the fraud mastermind.
There was no reason whatsoever for him to dilly dally on this particular question, that was why the panel insisted on getting him to say something that will be taken as the official website.
If I invite you for an interview to clear the air that some people are using variants of your father's name to defraud people, you should be able to tell me clearly, what your father's real names are.

For Nigeria, Mother's day is solely decided by the biggest two churches; the Anglican and the Catholics.
While the Anglican version is March, If you check out any Anglican church around you, you will notice the women will all be in their 'Mary sumner' uniforms, the Catholics will do theirs later, I'm not sure of the month.
PoliticsRe: Northerners Own 80% Of Oil Blocks - Senator Enang by cecegorz(m): 12:39pm On Mar 07, 2013
comely77: Oil blocks should be distributed to LGs and not individuals, that way, the commonwealth will be shared more evenly to all nooks and crannies of the country instead of some fat cows!!!
This is about the most equitable way to redistribute these wells in the spirit of federal character.
At least my LGA chairman and Councilors don't live in Abuja.
If they embezzle the money, I can easily organize the community to storm their houses and get them to account for the common wealth.
Besides this will ensure that each LG can pursue their development plan based on their basic and future needs.

Christianity EtcRe: Give Your 'Tithes' And Offerings To The Less Fortunate In Church by cecegorz(m): 3:54pm On Mar 03, 2013
Goshen360: But wait o, less I forget. Has your pastor ever told you that you can also eat your tithe? I bet they will not show you scriptures that you can eat the tithe. If tithe is money, how do you eat money, assuming its money huh Lemme show you that you can eat your tithe, it was crops and animals then, that's why it says eat it.

22“You must set aside a tithe of your crops—one-tenth of all the crops you harvest each year. 23Bring this tithe to the designated place of worship—the place the Lord your God chooses for his name to be honored—and eat it there in his presence. This applies to your tithes of grain, new wine, olive oil, and the firstborn males of your flocks and herds. Doing this will teach you always to fear the Lord your God.

24“Now when the Lord your God blesses you with a good harvest, the place of worship he chooses for his name to be honored might be too far for you to bring the tithe. 25If so, you may sell the tithe portion of your crops and herds, put the money in a pouch, and go to the place the Lord your God has chosen. 26When you arrive, you may use the money to buy any kind of food you want—cattle, sheep, goats, wine, or other alcoholic drink. Then feast there in the presence of the Lord your God and celebrate with your household. 27And do not neglect the Levites in your town, for they will receive no allotment of land among you.

28“At the end of every third year, bring the entire tithe of that year’s harvest and store it in the nearest town. 29Give it to the Levites, who will receive no allotment of land among you, as well as to the foreigners living among you, the orphans, and the widows in your towns, so they can eat and be satisfied. Then the Lord your God will bless you in all your work. - Deuteronomy 14:22-29

Where is the place the Lord chose to be brought the tithe to - The temple in Israel. The temple was destroyed in 70AD. Today, we Christians, our body is the temple of God where God dwells, no longer in building.

Who are the Levites? The temple workers that assist the priest Aaron. We do not have Levites in the body of Christ anymore. If at all, tithe is to be practiced biblically, it is church workers - choirs, ushers etc that should collect\take it and give tenth part to pastors.

Since, the temple is in Jerusalem and had been destroyed and we are now the temple of God - The verses say, I should eat my tithe converted to money (meaning, it was not originally money) since Jerusalem is too far, I may sell the tithe portion of my crops and herds, put the money in a pouch, and go to the place the Lord your God has chosen. When I arrive, I may use the money to buy any kind of food I want—cattle, sheep, goats, wine, or other alcoholic drink. Then feast there in the presence of the Lord your God and celebrate with your household. So God must be telling me to use my tithe money to drink ogogoro.... grin But honestly, I don't like ogogoro o so I will just buy me some nice stuff like fish barbecue and celebrate with my household....lo ba tan. cool
Lovely expose you got here. It shows how God loves the relationship with his people.
I've always known that God is not against alcohol, but because it's addictive and can influence one's judgement negatively, I believe we should be cautious.
That's why it said in Prov. 31 that 'it is not for kings to drink alcohol, lest they forget the law and pervert justice'

frosbel2: ehmm, he paid tithes not on his wealth but on the WAR Booty. Read your bible again.

And he paid it once , not every month or even year.
Now this is what we should be discussing, bro.
We also observed that even Jacob (also before the law), made a promise to give God a tithe if he will lead him on his journey and prosper him and bring him back to his father's land. This journey eventually took over 20years and he indeed was wealthy in sheep and cattle in the end.
It's still unclear how we arrived at tithing on a monthly basis, is it because this dispensation earns income monthly?

Christianity EtcRe: Give Your 'Tithes' And Offerings To The Less Fortunate In Church by cecegorz(m): 1:48pm On Mar 03, 2013
Oahray: pastors are not the equivalent of priests. Jesus replaced the priest class and offered an everlasting sacrifice with his shed blood. The bible says so at Hebrews 7:1-28.

Stop this misinformation!
And you Sing 'Abraham's blessings are mine' right ?
Haven't you read that Abraham was the first to give tithes, was it after the law or before the law?
Don't you know that we have no part in the law of Moses, being gentiles by nature?
Aren't you aware that we are connected to God ONLY through Abraham, Gal 3vs6-9, and not through the law of Moses?
If Abraham gave tithes by faith, having a spiritual understanding way before the law came into existence, we ought also to do the same.
If you give your tithe, as part of the law, that's a massive ignorance! You can as well go ahead and keep the whole law, else you will be under the curse of the law. Gal 3vs10,11.
So my brother, give your tithes by faith as a true seed of Abraham, it is your spiritual act of honor and worship to God, as the source of everything you own.
Christianity EtcRe: Give Your 'Tithes' And Offerings To The Less Fortunate In Church by cecegorz(m): 1:24pm On Mar 03, 2013
frosbel: " You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace." - Galatians 5:4
Tithes has absolutely nothing to do with the LAW.
Abraham, our father paid tithes to the high priest Melchizedek, showing us that this is a spiritual act of worship. This was centuries before Moses and the Law came into existence.
When you give your tithe, even though it is received and even spent by your pastor, reckon it a vow to God who is your true source.
If your Pastor unworthily uses the tithes like the children of Priest Eli who were using prongs to eat out of the sacrifial meet, God himself will judge him.
The people that sacrificed the meats eaten by Eli's children went home rejoicing, having fulfilled their obligation, they never went back to demand from the Priest, how the sacrifices were shared.
Christianity EtcRe: Give Your 'Tithes' And Offerings To The Less Fortunate In Church by cecegorz(m): 1:08pm On Mar 03, 2013
frosbel: This Sunday in Church , take your 'Tithes' and Offerings to Church.

When the service gets to the Malachi 3 session, look for anyone around you who has real needs, and give your tithes and offerings to them.

Better still ask the ushers or pastors to ask the following people to come forward :

- Mothers who do not know where the next meal for the family will come from
- Fathers who have lost their Jobs
- Widows who have no husbands
- Orphans who have no parents.
- Students who are barely eating talk less of paying school fees
- Those who wear rags or who have no shoes
- the homeless and destitute.

Do not give it to the ushers or take it to the front of the church , give it to these people, these are GOD's children who have real needs, yes, they are the ones who need your money, your spare clothes and shoes, extra cars etc.

I repeat, do not give a dime to your church or pastor and let us see how they will react !!!!
My brother, I don't know your motives for this advise but this is false teaching at it's best!
ONLY priests (pastors) receive tithes.
Tithes is only one type of giving, it doesn't stop you from doing the rest.
The scripture is clear about giving to your parents, fellow brethren, the poor and the needy, and other Just causes.

This is so inspiring for us youths with a vision of greater Nigeria.
Thank you so much Iyaniwura for this research and delivery.
