Nairaland GeneralRe: Happy Children's Day - Reigniting Our Primary School Memories by cecegorz(m): 11:56am On May 27, 2013
Back in the days of the 80s. On a day like this, I will be armed with a one naira coin feeding allowance, and head straight to the LGA head quarters for the school match past.
After the match past, comes the all day feasting. walls vanilla ice creams, rice, boiled eggs, fizzy drinks et al. All on the one naira coin!
Chai, what did they do to our economy?!
ComputersRe: Zinox Completes New Digital Assembly Plant In Lagos by cecegorz(m): 9:51am On May 24, 2013
A silver lining on our darkened horizon.
Good news for many of the ComptiA skilled nerds out there.
I foresee outsourcing jobs streaming in from major phone manufacturers into the country especially on components assembly. I don't think Zinox on her own will brave going into the over-saturated phone market themselves. If they can negotiate a good deal with Nokia and Techno to handle their production for the African market, they will in turn make enough funds to push Zinox computer brands further

While Dino may be overly prolific in the private use of his tools illegally, that does not detract from the fact that he has a legal right to bring corruption charges against an AGF.
Let him go to the hallowed chambers and prove his case.
The AGF should not hide under 'perpetual injunctions', whatever that means. He can also tell us if Dino embezzled funds meant for his constituency, after all I don't know his professional occupation that generates the kind of funds he is using to buy exotic cars.
I am all for it whenever two politicians/govt officials fight. They always expose themselves more than an outsider can ever do.

PhonesRe: BlackBerry To Launch BBM For Android & iOS Mobile Platforms by cecegorz(m): 7:12pm On May 14, 2013
wonlasewonimi: It could kill off sales for blackberry. Whatsapp will eventually die!
We seems to be on the same plane of thought.
Heads- bbm is going to be the chat king across all OS platforms, Whatsapp owners might as well look for another line of business.
Tails- All BB running 6.0 OS down is going down the drain, because they aren't different from the mass market Nokias and Tecnos if you take out bbm.
Who will want to spend money on a smart phone that has no wifi tethering capability added to the shallow screen size of these BBs.
Another thing I forsee is that if this works out, expect a massive roll out of activating BIS on alternative devices from all networks. None of them will want to miss out on the windfall.
CareerRe: Subordinate Called Female Worker "A Biatchhh" On Twitter. Should I Involve HR? by cecegorz(m): 10:28am On May 11, 2013
Dude is lucky he is not in the West. He would have tweeted another picture of his sack letter by now. Lol.
It has become norm these days for companies to go through staff social media profiles to ensure confidencial information are not being leaked and that company's image are not also smeared by insiders.
Infact most fortune 100 companies job application links have options to connect with your social media account.
I advise people these days to google their names once in a while and see what comes up. As long as you are a corporate employee, you need a clean image, offline and online.
By the way, was it not Bauchi's governor that sacked a civil servant sometime ago because of his FB comment?

@OP
This is grossly a pre-meditated slander.
Why would you think a N5b company will want to tarnish his investment with 3k fake voucher?
You should have sent a mail to the support and hear out their response before going to the press. Besides you don't seem to comprehend they didn't mean to give you free 3k worth of gift, but that minimum of 3k purchase is what earns you the eligibility.

FamilyRe: Blue-Collar Workers Want Their Children To Go to College: Why? by cecegorz(m): 9:09pm On May 08, 2013
oyb: probably not - though i think the issue here may be others expecting you to assist in what essentially is a wasted investment. someone comes to me to ask that i help pay his kid's school fees. it is clear the kid is not particularly smart [ its quite possible that this may be due to environment etal] - so do i throw good money after bad?

i experienced a lot of this growing up, as my dad spent a lot of money sending disadvantaged relatives to school.
I don't think it's a problem if your dad had the means as long as it wasn't at the expense of his own immediate family.
I actually plan to do same when I get the means but I'll put a stringent KPI. The students must be book smart and MUST maintain above 3.5 GPA @ every semester.
FamilyRe: Blue-Collar Workers Want Their Children To Go to College: Why? by cecegorz(m): 6:02pm On May 08, 2013
AjanleKoko: Here is something to think about, albeit a bit controversial.

Why do lower-class blue-collar workers insist on ensuring that their children go to tertiary institutions in Nigeria?
There are many cases I've seen of blue-collar workers, who can ill-afford it, bust their backs ensuring that their children all go to universities. It's noble, but is it really practical?
It's all herd mentality about what worked yesterday, hoping it will keep on working till eternity. Back in the days, University education used to be the silver bullet for a low-income family to join the big league, it may still work for folks from ELDS up North whose slot in the federal character inspired govt parastatals will always remain open.
Down south, almost every family already have 2-3 generation of graduates competing for the few available civil service jobs and the almost non-existent private sector openings.
But then, I will also support a blue-collar parent with clear brilliant kids to ensure they get a UNI education, even if it means breaking their back.

CultureRe: PFN, Anambra Community Bicker Over Killing Of Snake by cecegorz(m): 10:58am On May 08, 2013
Abagworo: Snake, Monkey and Iguana reverence has always existed across the lower River Niger area long before the coming of Europeans. It is not restricted to any particular tribe or region and spreads all the way to Bayelsa and Abia States to the best of my knowledge. Our forefathers saw the need to preserve those animals and devised those means. Europeans have borrowed it and signed it into law as animal rights act for endangered species and there is nothing barbaric about it. The Pastor should apologize and perform the burial rights.
Loooool Dude!
You were making sense, until that last sentence.
Is that a joke?
Who performs burial rites for all the rats n roaches we've been crushing with insecticides? Lol

CareerRe: What People Dont Know About Bank Contract Staff. by cecegorz(m): 10:58pm On May 05, 2013
In as much as the working conditions are far from those of core staff, don't feed on this 'locked in' thinking you are promoting here.
I've seen a couple of contract staff get core jobs in other banks, even up to 2nd to 3rd level.
You should be concerned with personal development at this stage. If you started with OND, get into a degree program, the open University is there for you. Do some professional/certifications too, then build your CV and push for a brighter future.
The core staff is not your problem. It's what the executive management wants. Casualization is the order of the day in today's banking industry.

Erm...
You got to fight to live in this present age.
I don't know which Bible told you "Do not resist evil",.
The Bible i know says 'Resist the devil and he will flee', 'Fight the good fight of faith', Even loving your enemies takes a massive fight of resisting the impulsive natural revenge instincts.
Accepted that one has to know when to let go, but then docility is never an option i'll wish on an enemy.
You will only get smashed like a floating glass on a violent wave, if you tow this passive line of living.
Even the spermatozoa that fertilized the egg to produce you had to out muscle other millions of hard fighting cells in order to hit the bulls eye. cheesy grin

ZIM DRILL: the fuel sender unity is easy to test

take it out from the take and hook it up to a test meter

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5FNqZLedU8
This is so enlightenening.
I have been on this issue with my car for almost two years now, and it's really frustrating!
I have visited several so called 'rewires' in Lagos and kept buying and replacing the floating mechanism without any success. I also observed they had no scientific way of actually trouble-shooting the unit, other than looking at it over and over.
No wonder they were clueless, i'm sure they won't even understand a multimeter reading if they see one.
I gotta go DIY and get this sorted out.
Thanks once again for the heads-up.

Do people still keep money in their pock3ets these days?
Anyway, once i get home and drop my wallet on the table, ma baby can pick out whatever amount she wishes to buy small stuff. I usually don't have more than 5k in that wallet, after all Debit cards are handy for purchases of higher value.
For me it's not a big deal, there are other people that like rules and regulations, good for them too.
However, if i have a lump sum in the drawer, she will know the cash must be for a purpose, and will definitely not touch it without letting me know.
Car TalkRe: Getting A Driver's Licence In Nigeria by cecegorz(m): 3:33pm On Apr 15, 2013
moyems: Hello tweeps. I was @ d FRSC/VIO offices @ Ojodu berger area to process my vehicles papers andd renew my license. Now I have this license which I did less than 2yrs ago and thought am okay where license is concern. When I got to the office to find out how I can renew my vehicle papers/road worthliness/insurance etc I was asked for my license just to confirm if its real or fake and behold they said it was fake and explained to me why. This is what I was made to understand. Doing a license by proxy means u have done a fake license. Proxy means u submitted passports/cash to any individual @ any office as the case may be. The right thing to do is visit a FRSC office, they will check thhe validity and authenticity of ur current license which is the first step. Then if its in their database it means its real but if not it means u did it by proxy and its fake. But for mine, my valid license is fake so I had to present my older license which I knew I did @ a FRSC office in Benin some years ago. This when checked on their system brought my complete data and finally they were able to start off a process for me. They downloaded a form for me which I filled and submited before they could input the data and others in their system. I took copies of these to the bank to pay #6,350 and brought the teller and the documents back to road safety. They directed me to where I and others did an eye test plus an examination which had 20 questions to answer in 5mins. After we finished, an officer took us to another office where they gave us the results of our performances and our documents to go register them @ another office. After doing the registeration, we were told to go to the last office to book a date for capturing and biometrics. My date is 27th Oct 2013. So you see my dear, getting a driver's license in 9ja is now a big deal. The process na die!!! It takes the whole day. Although I was a bit lucky because I paid 500 box to an office to hasten a part of the process. You can pay the fee for the license @ Eko bank, UBA and one other bank I can't remember. Here is the fine for defaulters as I was made to understand: driving with a fake license attracts a fine of 20k. Driving with an expired license/papers attracts 20k plus you will have to do the license or papers all over again b4 you car can be released. My candid advice is for everyone to do the new license @ FRSC to advoid these fines.

Thank you all
No need of going to the office to confirm.
Just go the site, https://www.nigeriadriverslicence.org/ click on DL Application Renewal, type in your current DL No. and your DoB, if it is legit, it will populate details for you to continue filling the form, if it is oluwole as usual, it will prompt you right away to request for fresh issuance.
Funny enough, i also got mine some two years back by proxy, but it checked me in on entry. I just finished filling the form, may be i will pay a month to the expiry of the current one.
Now, i have a serious bragging right in case any son of 'Egunje' stops me on the road. Expiry date is still far away October cool cool
Meanwhile, How many of you that have been driving for ages know the road signs and their meanings? Better update your knowledge here before going to the FRSC office to avoid failing the test. grin

I have no pity for any student that enrolls in a school that cannot be found in the JAMB Brochure.
It is fool hardy to say that parents and students procure admission in a school without entry exams. Because what it shows is that these students just collect fees and enroll people.

Sort of like the Igbos still shave the head of a widow and all worth not.

This scripture is in no way an express law against wearing of Tattoos, but a law aginst the ancient practice of tattoos associated with burial rituals.

#I stand to be corrected..
You are right.
Besides those are all Mosaic laws and ordinaces, it has no bearing on the seed of Abaraham (The Church).
However, i personally detest tattoos.
