people with practical knowledge and real life examples & experiences of how flawed Engineering studies are in Nigeria are speaking and you are here spewing your normal Buharists tantrums and thrash.

I got knowledge of how defective our school systems are when I went for a short course outside the shores of the country, there I met Indians who schooled us on what practical engineering knowledge is, the few Nigerians like me where just mopping at them, wondering how they acquired knowledges of such proportions within the confines of their ivy towers and our lecturers are busy scouting for political jobs and appointments and screaming "strike"

But as usual peeps like you will see nothing wrong because your lord, master and Saviour is in the saddles. If for any reason the situation where to be different, say Jonathan or Atiku mounting the reigns, you will be allover the place laying blames on the duo on how they and their cronies have looted the treasury leaving nothing behind for educational expenditures! but since its the veggie- then the Students who strive hard to keep it up studying in harsh conditions should accept the blame, while Buhari is busy globe trotting, talking gibberish and BS on things he couldn't care less about, while fanatical supporters like you are busy holding brief for him while he excretes his incompetence on the good people of Nigeria, Students inclusive!
I am not a Buhari supporter or party person even. I spoke the truth and I know it.
Engr isn't about cramming how a particular technology works but understanding the principles of engineering and using them endlessly.
Can you imagine what life would be like if your lecturers decide to give you limited practical examples in a world of plenty possibilities?

I am a qualified and experienced engineer who studied in Nigeria for 5 years, did a 1 year masters overseas and I currently work overseas. The truth is that there's no difference between me and my colleagues who were born and who schooled abroad.

A lot of Nigerians harbour this defeatist idea that they only teach (useless) engineering principles in Nigerian universities and nothing more; this mindset also causes so many of us to lose confidence in ourselves and lose our self worth. I had this mentality also, but when I left the shores of Nigeria to work overseas, I got to realise that those so called 'useless' principles I was taught in my Nigerian university days is exactly what they teach people all over the world. Every other knowledge and skill you add to your portfolio is based on personal effort and proactiveness; you get to be a proper engineer, not by what you are taught in school, but rather by the experiences you gain on the job.

In summary, nobody is really taught to be an engineer in school, you are only taught principles; it is then left to you to make the best out of those principles.
You this APC young man, so you can make sense like this. Your political bias has tilted you a lot.

bro, I think you just mentioned what the problem is. They don't teach how theories can solve real life problems which is very important. It was recently I knew that differencial calculus is what is used to calculate how an airplane speed is reduced gradually in order not to cause a shock inside of the plane. Engineering students in Nigeria don't know stuffs like that and it's very bad.
Nobody is suppose to be teaching you what theory is used for what practical. Reasons being:
There are potentially thousands of practical application of that same theory in various scenarios.
The school or lecturer will end up being biased or promoting some brands. For example a mechanical engr lecturer trying to illustrate something on Toyota vehicle or product may be seen as promoting Toyota at the expense of Kia, Nissan and Honda. Also not that brands tend to use same principles or theories in varying ways and that is what defines their products or brands. Think back to older Volvo models that are always noisy and fuel-efficient in a short time.

I'm not at all into engineering. I do agree with your point on universities are focused on theory and not practical. But even so.... I would agree with the OP that basically an engineering graduate is nowhere near up to date with today's international best practices...... the basic reason why foreigners are employed.
From my own observations... regarding buildings.... whatever branch of engineering that is... I noticed multi storeyed buildings being demolished ... and erected. The ones built in the earlier part of the 1900's.... were framed in iron... top to bottom... iron beams...uprights ..etc... that was the engineering design of that time. Now... they frame maybe the first three storeys max in iron... then they be going up the next 50 plus floors.... no iron works. If the universities are not on this page.... and trying to move forward to the next... then the university programme is a waste of time.... stuck in the past.
The student and the system each have fault but regarding the points OP raised, the students have more fault. Everybody is too busy cramming elect/elect calculations and principle than understanding it and when it is time to apply it, they barely know which principle goes in where. Blame the students more. Most are not even aware a complain like this should be directed at polytechnics and tech colleges.

5000 CHURCHES IN 2019: Oyedepo’s Winners’ Chapel plants 848 Churches in one day.

Leke Beecroft

Bishop Oyedepo led Living Faith Church (LFC) aka Winners’ Chapel last Sunday 7th April 2019 established 848 new rural churches. This is as part of the plans of the Church to establish 5000 churches in 2019. The total attendance recorded last Sunday was 13,000 while more churches will be established today Sunday 14th 2019.
The Church had earlier announced her plan to establish 5000 rural churches while she had acquired landed property worth over N350million ($1 million) for that purpose.

Winners’ Chapel has experienced Church growth consistently over the last 30 years however since 2009 when she embarked on aggressive Church plants, she had grown from 700 churches to 5,600 (excluding Lagos) in 2013. While the Redeemed Christian Church of God plants churches every 5 minutes walk in the developing world and 3 minutes drive distance in the developed world, in 2012 the Mandate which is the operational manual or constitution of the LFC included a clause that a branch of the LFC will be established every 2 kilometers worldwide. Delta State of Nigeria alone recorded 505 churches as at 2015.

The Church which runs the best private university in Africa also intends to establish a total of at least 7 universities, 140 secondary schools and 1,500 nursery and primary schools by 2031 as part of her goal to help develop the developing world.

please go back and read my article. The system is fvcked up.
It is impossible for anyone to implement anything. University or polytechnic
You get put so much theories to your head your brain will discard everything since you are not taught how to implent it.

Its like pouring water to a basket, the moment you finish exam, everything is gone in your head..
An average graduate does not remember anything, what is the point of learning if you are going to forget it all at the end of the day?
People that think like you are Nigerian problem.
There is need to reform the educational system in nigeria..
We are not even talking about making innovation..
Lets just be copying what developed nation are doing.. let us be manufacturing substandard phones, tv and all. One day we will get there..just like china did.

There is need for reformation. How can anyone defend the old and outdated stuffs we learn in Nigerian universities.....

You are part of Nigerias problem. Honestly
The problem is selfish and lazy attitude from student like you who blame their flaws and forgetfulness on the system.

What practical do you expect people never thought practicals to teach you? Please state some practical aspects of Engineering lets see.
Education › Re: Is Studying Engineering In Nigeria A Scam? by CodeTemplar: 10:02pm On Apr 13, 2019
1. To start with, Engineering is largely design oriented and not building or development as people like to claim.

2. The Nigerian University system is set up to produce research focused or academic focused graduates and most practical Knowledge we ignorantly ask for from the university system is suppose to be acquired in polytechnics and Tech Colleges.

3. Your lecturers too were taught theories and don't expect them to teach you practicals even if they put in extra effort to get the practical knowledge they posses themselves.

4. the university isn't a place for practical focused skill acquisition. Polytechnics and technical Colleges are.

5. The average Nigerian is delusional and expects too be spoonfed with great ideas and their implementations. As engineers, they give you a knowledge of engineering principles and it is left for you to use your imagination to create things out of the principles you have learnt. In accounting, student are taught its principles and nobody takes them to a real life accounting dept to work, It is up to you to figure out what goes in where as you work with those principles.
Christianity Etc › Re: Money-rituals(SAKAWA), Share Your Experiences!!! by CodeTemplar: 8:57pm On Apr 13, 2019
Money ritual is real just like magic and witchcraft.
It involves death, either spiritual death or physical death.
Getting money requires spiritual power whether we like or not. Everyone of us have varying level of power and that power counts in the physical. The bible talks about "God thy Lord that giveth thee power to get wealth". Money ritual doesn't neccesarily mean magical money appearance but entails manipulating spirit energy or the spiritual realm to get magical money or power to get money.

Jesus ministry was centered around the Jews, if he was alive to do what he told the Apostles to do ( Go into the world and preach the gospel), trust me he would have had to build super mega churches especially in this age before he can be taken serious..... besides there are many things Jesus didn't ask us to do but we have to considering the fact that the world has become a global village.
The main question is, who is a Jew ?

2. Which kind of death? I ask because there is partial death or spiritual death and there is also physical death that leads to burial.

If the issue is as to whether the guy was right in saying Kadaria should be killed, then he was wrong because she's been proven to be muslim and he's guilty of bearing false witness.

Positions differ as to whether death is the ruling for apostasy or not and there are arguments supporting the varying positions

Apostasy can only be deliberated upon by an Islamic authority, a properly constituted one and not by laymen

Islam is made up of vast scholarly, literary works and trying to reduce serious issues to just a matter of black and white is foolish

Non muslims should keep off Islamic issues because they clearly have no idea what they're engaging in...either that or they seek scholarly Islamic opinions, which is why i kept on referring to the Islam section or credible Islamic websites or sources

To all Islam haters, you hate yourselves not Islam

if you guys have your minds made up on this issue, then why do you need muslims to speak?

Islam is a belief separate from christianity, what concern of yours is it what Islam dictates?

If you learn about Islam and then reject it, move on and pass, or are you just insecure about your faith and that's why you aggress against Islam?

my advice, promote your own faith and if you're seeking knowledge on anything Islam, go to the Islam section and be taught.
You are suppose to be explaining things to people who don't know about Islam as you do.
Why would Islam support killing of potential Muslim converts? I ask because Kadaria is a potential muslim convert but some people are trying to kill her whereas those people aren't perfect or entirely born muslims.

OladimejiRufai:
Emperor Imes is one emperor coming in nearest future who will clear misconceptions on Islam and teach people true Islam.

He is coming as a glory to Muslims and as a guide and mercy to non Muslims.

He is someone whose works will cause Islam to be portrayed in its true, mindblowing and wonderful form that will cause many people to enter Islam

He is coming to show the world that what the Kuffar think they only can do or acheive of civilization, development etc, that the Muslims can do it to, using the perfect Law Sharee'ah as the guide and they will acheive all of that even in a better, unaldulterated/uncorrupted and more fulfilling form.

He is coming to disprove the obnoxious notion of people who say that Islam is primitive and not good for development in this age and he will acheive so much with Islam that even the Kuffar cannot acheive

He is coming to solidify the true, unperverted legacy of his master, Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and many people who hate this Master will come to love him.

And he is coming to unite Muslims and make them powerful and prepared for the events that will happen when Imam Mahdi comes and one of our other Masters, Prophet Isa (Jesus)

Nuff said! That is Emperor Imes.

We await his coming with joy grin

And some non Muslims are known for accusing Muslims with this when there is no Basis

In Islam, no one, i mean under no circumstance should you answer a question of which you have no knowledge. It is a sin.

This is to avoid misrepresentation or misinterpretation of Islam

this is one of the factors causing Islam to be portrayed in a form different from what it really is

people from whom people perceive Islam are people who have no knowledge or people who deviate from the truth like the Prophet warned

So I, a 20 year old young Muslim, who does not even know a quater of the Quran, cannot answer your question simply because I have no knowledge of it

I hope you understand this.

Again, ask people of knowledge who are upon the truth or wait for Emperor Imes to come
