![]() That same woman won't tolerate a cheating daughter in law o. But she herself wants to reserve the right to cheat outside. Ok, be ready to bring up other people's grandchildren when your daughter in law brings bastards from outside. Taking nicely after Eve. To confuse men. If your hubby cheats, nobody use chain to tie you to stay with him. Enough of this rant about men cheat pass. Leave him if you want. |
7david7:Sorry to hear madam. But ensure you see a consultant dermatologist. At a teaching hospital/FMC. Not just a doctor in any hospital. Your boy obviously has issues with allergy. Tongue and lip swelling may be adverse reaction and can become quite severe as anaphylaxis at other times as to block airway. Risky. Have they checked him fully with blood test/his immune system/allergy test to know what to avoid in food/cream/medication/jewellery, etc? |
iSense247:Ok, just do DNA test on your kids. Unless you are happy to potentially run an orphanage as a family. keep checking your Hiv status too. Goodluck! |
Christistruth03:What led to the inter-regnum in the Oluship from 1856-1936? That will help towards shedding more light on the independence that you mentioned. Why did Oba Akenzua and grandfather of this current Olu place a curse on Itsekhiri people that this current Olu said he was reversing during his coronation? Why was that same Olu (granddad of current one) given 14 coronation beads by Oba Akenzua to crown the next 14 Olus of Warri, something current Olu used to partly claim validity when the old crown was stolen? Watch his coronation speech. Dude, today we all do our own things independently but let's not twist history. It is well-known. As for Christianity, you judge that Benin's own was for show. Many people became Christian in Iberia due to Spanish Inquisition. By force. Christianity became established in the West due to politics. Emperor Constantine wanted to use the religion of very obedient people (innocent people ready to die for their faith without much resistance, just the type of citizens ready to die him that he desired) to control Roman Empire. The same people appealing to Domingo were the same that brought big time slave trade, so how genuine were even the Portuguese as Christians, never mind those they were converting? Like Constantine, European kings at the time used Christianity for politics. Obas of Benin probably saw through that. They were in Portugal before anyone else. Some argue that Constantine's Edict of Milan in 313 stopped killing and persecution of Christians, returned their seized assets to say how genuine his faith was. No experts/scholars believes that. Breaking news: Constantine unbanned all religious sects, cults and groups. Not just Christianity. It was a much wider political move. Oh by the way, as far as we can tell, Oba of Benin is the only King in West Africa who is also head of a native Christian Church, the Holy Aruosa Cathedral in Benin. Like King Charles II is the head of the Anglican church. Benin's long history means it has found ways to indigenise Christianity. Long before Aladura, Cele and others came along. An indigenous church that has existed for centuries, long after guns for battles matter have gone, stand as a testament like a rock. You know black man trying to be holier than the pope, like you have indicated in your post will also find another excuse. |
aboy4real:Price per plot and all 3 plots together? Thanks. |
Good old Cleo was of black African and Greek descent. Na me talk am. I dey my house. Make dem bring the petition paper come. We go use am wrap akara and suya. ![]() |
Christistruth03:Benin had the oldest church in Nigeria as a whole and a street named at the Pope (Via Papa) now called Akpakpava Street in Benin. When did Prince Ginuwa leave Benin to become Ogiame of Ewere/Iwerre/Warri? When did Europeans first reach Benin? Oba Esigie was baptised by 1504 just upon becoming king. He was a Christian nominally before that already. Esigie son (Orhogbua) was at Portuguese Royal military Academy in Lisbon, educated and was a Christian. He learned naval sailing from the Portuguese. Domingo was in Lisbon by 1600. Orhogbua was in Portugal almost 100 years earlier. By 1480s, King John II of Portugal already established strong links with Oba Ozolua of Benin. Oba Ewuare had already welcomed the Portuguese even before that. Why do you think Oba Esigie had muskets (guns) from Portugal to fight Idah people in 1515-1516 War? Only Christian Kings/foreign rulers were given the new deadly weapon to use in war. Oba sent them back politely in which year? Please be careful what you write in a public forum. |
FreeStuffsNG:In particular, with hereditary titles, any king must find a way to deal with it in a savvy way. You don't undo the hereditary title bestowed by a previous king. But you can change his function in the palace. Or even appoint another non-hereditary title holder from same family to carry out the functions if a blood relative descending from that family must perform certain functions. Stripping a chief of a hereditary title or swapping it questions the judgement of the previous king, his chiefs and family who selected the candidate. Not a good precedent. That Ologbose/Ologboshere title emerged in Benin to checkmate the very powerful traditional prime minister the Iyase. Iyase was only created to checkmate others centuries earlier. Basically a cat watching activities of Iyase. In Warri, Iyase and Ologbose/Ologbotsere seem to be cat and mouse. Some things never change, wherever you take it. Olu could have created another title for a member of Ologbotsere family. Olu has that totally uncontroversial prerogative. That would allow Ayiri keep his title but become virtually irrelevant, yet kept in the fold. That would be good politics. Benin history has it in abundance for centuries. When the most senior chiefs (7 kingmakers/Uzama) began to feel too big, Oba Ewedo created an all powerful but non-hereditary Iyase (meaning by this new title created, I surpass you all). This was in 1255 AD. Later when Oba feared that Uzama chiefs could hijack coronation or even refuse their role at coronation one day, he created a set of 7 junior Uzama chiefs. Should the senior ones refuse to do their job or want to play games, the junior ones will do it. Centuries ago too. Problem solved. Till today. |
AsomArchitectNG:This looks good. |
Jennyclay:In most places this not the tradition. The bride's family hosts the future in-laws. Bride's family pays. I would never have allowed future in-laws to pay for what we gave them to entertain them for my sisters' weddings. Many sisters by the way. All married now. Their men are not "broke" as some ladies like to shame hardworking young men trying to make a living. They didn't rush into marriage, so their men were ready. The groom has traditional stuff he must take care of. What they should bring alongside bride price are clear to them. Not the food, drink or entertainment for in-laws in bride's family home. If the bride's family are only managing, of course the groom can assist generously. |
abobote:But many Brazilians do speak it. Many will easily understand what you are saying to them in Spanish. French as spoken in France/Belgium/Quebec/Switzerland is not as easy as people think. African version in Cotonou and Africa is easier to speak. Spanish is internationally becoming very important. German provides opportunities for work in Germany. Mandarin will probably be the most important foreign language of the future. I may be wrong though. I thought Russian would become very important when cold war ended but alas! If learning a single foreign language, learn French. It is our second official language. You see it in 9ja international passport. |
Rahkman:Not borrowed because Olu of Warri is a Benin prince. He is practising what his Benin ancestors did. |
Butcher. Igbudu. Nuff said. The man will have plenty of time to regret it. RIP to the lady. |
Nokia 3310 remains the real odogwu of mobile phones. No phone will ever come close. |
tafat:Only if he is the wife's next of kin too. He's also worth it. |
Wife but under certain conditions: Be sure that your kids are actually yours. After DNA test. Ensure she makes you her next of kin too. What is good for the goose is good for the gander. Write your last will and testament. It supersedes next of kin nonsense. Being your next of kin doesn't mean you believe that person should inherit all your assets. That person may just be the better organised, dynamic or reliable person you have. It should be more about executor of the will. Count brother or sister out. There was a case last year. A man made his first son and first daughter his next of kin. However, the son is a kinda suwegbe person so the daugter and mother found a way to push him aside. The wife somehow became next of kin. You know 9ja and manipulation. After monies were paid to the woman, she refused to share it with her children claiming to be the rightful NOK. It's like her hubby knew why he didn't include her as NOK. The daughter who connived to push her brother aside is now regretting it. |
luizpippo:Dude, politics doesn't work that way. Sure, Edo Central deserves a turn now. Alli and Osunbor (even in his short spell) did well. Alli was exceptional even considering that UPN was not at FG level. But Edo Central fortunes have been too linked to PDP. Plus PDP has factions now, with Edo Central bigwigs not really in Obaseki camp. However, Edo Central has enjoyed FG the most since 1999. Uromi folks in particular. So PDP has been beneficial overall. Edo Central must now spread out across more parties, especially LP. It is already happening anyway. |
panini:You can almost be sure the hotel will be found wanting in one or more areas. Just be generous to those largely poorly paid reception staff, many won't even check details provided by clients properly. CCTV may be there but not working, name and phone numbers may be fake, they may not even have called the lady when the man was leaving next morning as they claim, etc. At times if a client arrives late at night and promises to leave very early, staff will not record the client and will embezzle the money. I have had to be dragging receipt from reception when I have checked in late at times. Hotel owners are usually well-connected, he can hush up the whole saga with money. Nor be 9ja again? Na God dey save person o. RIP to the lady. |
This is really good! What is the total budget for this project? How much spent so far? |
Sehzade:Alright. Thank you. |
Sehzade:n |
This OP has generalised way too much. In a better organised modern society, Igbo can-do spirit is just what you need to be innovative, creative and build successful businesses. Innoson and Coscharis are good examples, against the odds. You don't need to kowtow to anyone to succeed. Igbo have more than enough common sense to cope anywhere they are. I know of Igbo in every society I have ever lived in who have adapted greatly to the local culture (language, food, norms) while also preserving Igbo culture. We should stop blaming our systemic failure on Igbo. OP is obviously writing this because of presidential election. The fact that Obi got over 6m votes is evidence that Nigerians, especially the youth disagree with you. Whoever becomes president of little benefit to any tribe in 9ja, unless he truly works to make 9ja work for all. |
Sehzade:Would everyone accept Olumo Rock, Aso Rock, Idanre Hills, Yankari, Sambisa Forest, Oguta Hills, Ogbunike Cave, Benin Moats or Osse River as the basis for Naming 9ja, for example? ![]() Would Yankarians, Osserians or Ogutians be a name Nigerians would have been better inspired by? You underestimate the complexities of African countries combed hurriedly together by colonial masters. Geographical expression countries, as Awo once said, have a long way to go. Sugar-coating it for convenience won't help anyone. |
Felabrity:That name too go be scam. She nor wan reveal. What if she cleared the man's apartment of property before leaving? I remember cases similar to what OP just wrote back in the day. The lady is hiding something and would not want to ever face it. To play victim is easy but the truth is always a bit different. OP has made the first step. Try to link up with Igbo organisations. The dad's pic might help. Good luck! |
Quest7777:Don't be surprised that Bissau people currently have easy access to money in their bank accounts while 9ja don't. So football failure is just another symptom of systemic decline into the abyss. I have long said that it is only to those who are serious that big population is a blessing. 200m led by mugus are 200m mugus. Irrespective of education, money or chest beating. QED. |
Sehzade:Benin Republic named former Dahomey after Benin Kingdom/Empire. Though Dahomey is also roughly in the Bight of Benin coastally. Akan/Asante or Ga-Adangbe would have been too divisive so they chose a more neutral historical name. If Nigeria wanted to change its name in 1960 or 1963 upon becoming independent or republic, Arewa, Oodua, Benin, Oyo, Benue, Nri or any name attached to one region or ethnicity would have been unacceptable. |
Rassco:Mali, Guinea and Senegal jollof nor be here o. I have tasted all. When made by traditional women from those countries, they prepare the veg, I believe friend with it. The flavour and taste good o. All are good but very unique in their own ways. |
Bashet:It depends on circumstances. Economic support, personal attitude, ability, etc. When people go abroad, most come to realise that they need to do well. It focuses their mind. In 9ja, without mentioning tribe, you see how well traders of a certain tribe do outside their region. It's got to do with being more serious and hustling more tenaciously once you migrate from the "comfort" of your home. Mostly anyway. What you consider top uni abroad may not even be in top 50 in that country but still rated hundreds of places above any 9ia university because the research impact of our universities have greatly declined since the 1970s/80s. |
Bashet:How did he then get into the university? Grades for admission to top unis are quite clear, no long leg. Top unis abroad for some course also require additional exams. By top uni what is its world ranking and US ranking? People always cite how a less smart person was admitted into a top school abroad. Which school? If you tell me that some people with poor attitude, poor circumstances or inadequate support in 9ja didn't do well in 9ja studies but excelled abroad, I will understand. Passing medicine and dentistry exams anywhere in the world is evidence that you are a top talent, so remove Medicine, Vet and Dentistry from it. Even Law, some science courses and Engineering in some 9ja unis. If you select the best in any environment, they won't represent the general population. By the way, I am telling what I have seen. That question you asked I could easily have answered over 25 years already from seeing it. |
Bashet:Dude, not top foreign universities. Top foreign universities in the West attract the best students from across the world. What chance do you have to test yourself against students on national scholarship from Japan, South Korea, Brazil, USA, Canada, India, Russia, South Africa, NZ and so on at UI, Uniben, Unilag, OAU, ABU, UNN? In top 30 UK and US universities you do. How many profs shaping body of knowledge and discovery get to teach in Nigerian top unis compared to top Western unis? How many Nobel Prize winners do you get to see in your lecture theatre or tutorial in 9ja top unis? Oh boy, say what you know well enough and leave the rest. Don't generalise, biko. If you say most 9ja people going to study abroad do not attend top foreign universities, I will agree. Even at that there are certain attitudes and behaviours you acquire abroad. The realisation that it is about acquiring the knowledge and skills to perform in real life. Not just cramming to get a grade. |
