BigBashiru:Sorry sir but what did you just type up there? ![]() The Bible is quite clear on who the curse was placed on but it seems you're not ready to accept the views of the Scriptures. |
jesusjnr2020:I'm sorry but the bolded is in error. I thought by now you should have realised the truth. Matthew 2:1 says the “magi” [sorcerers/astrologers/stargazers/magicians] visited Jerusalem. So sorcerers are now “true men of God” even though their customs and practices are in direct contrast with God's Laws? Leviticus 20:6, Deuteronomy 18:10-12, Acts 13:6 |
jesusjnr2020:Note that I myself said: “Herod conspired with the wise men” so the word “conspire” leaves a big gap open because it would mean the astrologers also had a hand in it. So my error is the English word I used. Let me quote directly please. Matthew 2:7 says that Herod secretly summoned these astrologers. That is, not in the presence of the Jewish scribes. The astrologers did not know the intentions of Herod but Herod himself doesn't tolerate rivalry and he knew what he was doing that's why he privately spoke to them. So I'm sorry if it's the big English that brought about the confusion. |
BigBashiru:Mizraim/Egypt was the son of Ham. Again the curse was on Canaan not all the sons of Ham, not even Ham himself. Genesis 9:25 |
jesusjnr2020:I thought you said it's from JWs translation I was referring to before? ![]() Why are you changing mouth now? See Mr man if you like, do research and be noble-minded like the Beroeans(Acts 17:11) If you like too, remain in your delusions and refuse to acknowledge the truth. I couldn't care less what you do actually. |
BigBashiru:The curse Noah placed was on Canaan and not Ham. Genesis 9:25 The Canaanites were actually light-skinned who lived east of the Mediterranean sea. But this has nothing to do with skin colour. As for which of Noah's sons blacks originated from, another of Ham's sons, Cush was closely related with the ancient tribe of Ethiopia so that's where the blacks descended from. (Genesis 10:6-7, Isaiah 43:3) But all this issue of skin colour doesn't matter to God since it's from one man(Adam) that we all descended from(Acts 17:26) so whether Black, White, Asian, Oriental, we know that God is not partial and whoever does his will is acceptable to him. Acts 10:34-35 |
jesusjnr2020:Oh so you've already seen me through lens of prejudice, is that it? Check the Greek rendering for Matthew 2:1 in the screenshot below from biblehub.com before rushing to conclusions. JWs do not own biblehub.com sir.

Matthew never called anybody “wise men”. That's just an attribute of your modern-day KJV Bibles. The Greek word Matthew rendered in Matthew 2:1 was μάγοι[magi; singular: magos] which is open to a lot of meaning such as astrologers, stargazers, conjurers, sorcerers. That same “magi” word is also found at Acts 13:6 and is accurately rendered as “sorcerer” in your KJV Bible. All of these are practices condemned by the Mosaic Law. Leviticus 20:6, Deuteronomy 18:10-12 Go figure! jesusjnr2020: |

I don't understand what isn't found in the Bible abi? ![]() Just quote anywhere in the Bible where the word “Trinity” is located. Even if it's just one occurrence please! livingchrist: |
OP I'm sorry but your conclusions do not corroborate with the evidence given. How could God have been the one to reveal details about the Messiah to the so-called “wise men” in question? First of all, those “wise men” practiced magic and they were stargazers. This was something abominable from God's standpoint. Leviticus 20:6, Deuteronomy 18:10-12 So God couldn't have been the person responsible for the “star” that led those astrologers since it's well documented in the Mosaic Law that God's people must never be drawn/inclined to worship or receive direction from the celestial bodies. (Deuteronomy 4:19 see also Isaiah 47:13) Secondly, this “star” led these “wise men” to Jerusalem. Then after meeting with Herod, he inquired of the Jewish scribes the location of the birth of the Messiah. (Matthew 2:4-6 see also Micah 5:2) Herod then summoned the “wise men” and asked them to locate the Messiah in Bethlehem. Meanwhile Herod himself had set up a plan to exterminate this “Messiah” because he didn't want to tolerate rivalry. If it was truly God who sent this “star”, why would the same God intervene by warning them not to return to Herod? Matthew 2:12? Why would God be the cause of the deaths of many children because of a “star”? Obviously the “star” wasn't from divine origin because God cannot cause such a wicked thing to happen. Matthew 2:16 see also Job 34:10 |

Preciousgirl:Did you make all these claims after investigating if they were so? Or you just feel like running your mouth because of envy? I just hope you are able to finish what you've just started. First of all who do you think Jehovah and Jesus are? The Bible which Jehovah's Witnesses strongly believe is inspired of God says that Jehovah is the true God whom we must render sacred service to. Deuteronomy 4:39, Matthew 4:10 Jesus Christ is Jehovah's Firstborn & only-begotten Son(Matthew 16:16, John 20:31, Colossians 1:15-17, Revelation 3:14) whom God sent to the earth to: 1. Preach the good news of God's Kingdom. Luke 4:43 2. Set an example/model for we to follow closely. John 13:15, 1Peter 2:21 3. Give his life as a ransom in exchange for us(Matthew 20:28) in order to: a. Redeem those exercising faith in him from slavery to sin and death[salvation] (Romans 3:24,8:21) so that such ones can have everlasting life. John 3:16, Hebrews 5:9 b. Provide a covering/atonement for our sins so that we can approach Jehovah God with a clean conscience and so that our sins can be forgiven. Hebrews 9:13-14, Colossians 1:14 Regarding the number 1 in the previous paragraph, Jesus said himself that he was SENT by his God to preach about that Kingdom(John 6:38) since the Bible had earlier stated that it was Jehovah who would establish the Kingdom and install Jesus as the King of that Kingdom. (Daniel 2:44, Luke 1:31-33, Revelation 11:15) At Isaiah 43:10, Jehovah God said regarding his servants[and that includes Jesus Christ(Acts 3:13)]: “You are my witnesses.” So because Jesus preached God's Kingdom and is our Exemplar, he is regarded as the Faithful and True Witness about who? None other than Jehovah his God. Revelation 1:5, 3:14 Jehovah's Witnesses follow in like manner to talk to or witness to our neighbours about Jehovah and Jesus Christ who gave his life as a ransom for us. That's where Acts 1:8 comes in. We acknowledge that Jesus is due honour(Philippians 2:11), BUT we worship and render sacred service only to Jehovah God! Exodus 34:14 That which Jesus also encouraged us to do. We are to love Jehovah God with all our whole hearts, mind, soul and strength and render to him worship which he deserves. Deuteronomy 6:4-5,13; Matthew 22:37 The main theme of Jesus' preaching was the good news of God's Kingdom. Matthew 9:35, Luke 4:43 And he also said during our time, that same good news of the Kingdom would be preached to all nations, tribes and tongues. Matthew 24:14, 28:19-20 Now, who would you say is actually following in Jesus' footsteps by preaching and teaching about God's Kingdom to their neighbours from house to house currently in over 240 lands? Matthew 10:11-13, Acts 5:42?? Who else other than Jehovah's Witnesses? Or can you point to any other religious group that does this extensively and even lives by that message? John 18:36? Though, the pandemic brought restrictions and difficulties, we're still preaching nonetheless to our neighbors, not from house to house for now BUT virtually through the telephone. 2Timothy 4:2 So how does your antichrist claim fit into any of this? Next time before you begin making unfounded utterances, try and investigate for yourself about our beliefs. Our website https://www.jw.org/en/ which is available in more than a 1,000 languages is open to all who desire to learn the truth. Make good use of this method because the only way to gain everlasting life is to take in accurate knowledge of Jehovah and his Son, Jesus Christ. John 17:3 |
ThePlainTruth:Wait let me get you straight. The Messiah should come and force everybody to make peace abi? Because if it's by force, then it's no more different from the UN who can go to lengths of wars and conflicts in the name of establishing “peace”. Jesus Christ made it clear that all those who willingly embrace his teachings will never take up weapons of war to resolve conflicts and that they would be peaceful with their neighbours. Matthew 26:52, Luke 6:29 So stop deceiving yourself, it was the Jews and other stiff-necked people who chose not to follow the real Messiah's teachings so that peace can be achieved amongst them. The fault was not from Jesus but from the Jews and neither will he force anybody to follow after him. Matthew 16:24, Mark 6:1-4 You're waiting for another Messiah to come shey? Okay but just know that the next encounter the Messiah concerning this earth will be bloody between him and the present earth's inhabitants who do not obey God and the good news about Jesus Christ himself. 2Thessalonians 1:6-10, Revelation 16:14-16, 19:11-21 Then after that, God's Kingdom will be firmly established on the earth and true PEACE & SECURITY can now reign amongst the earth's inhabitants who have sought Jehovah God, righteousness and meekness. Psalm 37:11,29; Isaiah 9:7, Zephaniah 2:2-3, Matthew 5:5, 2Peter 3:13, Revelation 21:1-4 Until then, everybody has a choice to make. |
ThePlainTruth:Oga read the verse 35 and 36 before you conclude. Jesus was well aware that world would neither welcome nor approve of his message of the Kingdom which he preached and by extension, since the world hated and persecuted him, his own disciples who are going from house to house to preach about God's Kingdom will also be hated and persecuted by their family members and others. Matthew 10:11-13,22;Acts 5:42 Matthew 10:35-36 has already answered the question for you. A man's[believer's] enemies will be those of his household all because he's chosen to become a disciple of Jesus Christ. Micah 7:6 So it's the unbelieving family members who will want to cause trouble and chaos for the one who is a follower of Jesus who by reason of being a true Christian is peaceable with all sorts of men. Romans 12:18, 1Peter 3:11 |
reubenobi:Expatiate on what you mean by the bolded? |
vybzkartel:The “elect” or “chosen ones” were originally meant to come from the bloodline descendants of Jacob since Jesus was sent to only the house of Israel(Matthew 15:24) But since Israel proved stubborn and rejected Jesus as the Messiah(Mark 6:4), God abandoned the literal nation of Israel and extended that invitation to the Gentiles i.e. men from the nations(Matthew 21:43) That's why apostle Paul stressed the real meaning of the term “Israel of God”(Galatians 6:16), he said those who are part of this new nation of “Israel” are not actually the fleshly descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob but rather those who have been chosen by God's holy spirit to become a new spiritual Israel so they are truly “Abraham's offspring” not by fleshly relationships but by reason of being God's spirit sons. Romans 9:6-8 |
vybzkartel:1. The “elect” or “chosen ones” are those who have been chosen, anointed and sealed by God's holy spirit. They will number into a total of 144,000 as Revelation 7:1-8&14:1-5 put it. Since they are naturally flesh, they will become “born again” i.e. spirit-begotten and given a new birth by incorruptible seed(1Peter 1:23) so when they finish their conquest on earth, they'll be adopted as spirit sons of God and resurrected in an immortal, incorruptible spirit body. Romans 8:14-17, 1Corinthians 15:42-44 2. God chooses those who will become Kingdom heirs alongside his Son, Jesus Christ. It's not by human choice. Matthew 20:20-23, John 1:12 3. The “chosen ones” are to become kings, priests, judges alongside Jesus Christ. 1Corinthians 6:2, 2Timothy 2:12, Revelation 5:9-10, 20:4-6 4. Summary of John 3:3-6: Unless someone is “born again” i.e. chosen, anointed and sealed by God's holy spirit, he cannot rule in God's Kingdom so the verse 5 says at the point of their baptism, they will born of water and spirit i.e. fully immersed in water and chosen by God's holy spirit. 1Peter 2:9 |
OpenYourEyes1:How do you think the foremost Egyptian magicians Jannes and Jambres were able to duplicate some of the signs that Moses performed? Or do you think those were not miracles as well? Exodus 7:10-12, 2Timothy 3:8 Satan and his demons teach humans several things who are open to their influence, so don't think people learnt magic and sorcery by chance. 2Corinthians 4:4, 2Thessalonians 2:9 For your information, the miraculous “STAR” seen by those wise men some months after Jesus was born was from Satan so that's one way Satan uses to communicate with astrologers or wise men and he has several other tactics he uses. Matthew 2:2, 2Corinthians 2:11 So that's why Jesus advised us not to get our hopes up or be alarmed during these last days when we see impostors performing many miraculous works in his name.Matthew 7:21-23, 24:11, 1Timothy 4:1 Because Jesus himself acknowledged that many would perform real SIGNS AND WONDERS, not as an expression of God's holy spirit but through the means Satan uses. Matthew 24:24 |
Truvel:Summary of Matthew 19:1-9 and Romans 7:2-3: Whoever divorces his wife on “every sort of grounds” except on basis of infidelity and death of the partner and then marries another commits adultery. Surely Jesus Christ and apostle Paul would not make such statements if their intentions were to convey to others that they could have polygamous marriages. I strongly believe we should stick to what God's Word the Bible says on such matters. Genesis 2:24 So when Jesus was questioned by the Pharisees, he directed their attention to the original standard that God himself set. Mathew 19:4-6 Besides none of those people you mentioned in the outset are qualified for everlasting life yet since they'll be resurrected in the future(Acts 24:15) The Bible said if we want to gain everlasting life, we MUST[non-negotiable] listen to Jesus Christ and obey his commandments. John 3:36/Acts 4:12 |
Truvel:The patriarchs and later the Israelites all chose to keep more than one wife. But God's standards had always been one man for one woman. Take the Israelites for example, imagine after bringing this stiffnecked people out of Egypt, God now demands that they all should keep just one wife. How do you think things would have been? They'll be commotion everywhere that's why God allowed them have their way until his onlyBegotten Son, Jesus came and reset the factory settings to one man one woman standard for marriage. Matthew 19:4-6 |
Truvel:I guess Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6 and 1Corinthians 7:2, 9:5 got lost in your Bible? |
uncleck:The young man thinks his petty nairaland tricks can dissuade any honesthearted person from embracing the truth. Meanwhile he's doing quite the opposite as you've realized. One of my JW brothers in the U.S. was questioned why Witnesses do not participate in politics, since perhaps we are very honest people(Hebrews 13:18). His reply was: “Why should we? We have solved the problems that are tearing your world apart—prejudice, for example. Why should we trade in the gold for the mud? ” |

Three important Bible principles: Matthew 5:28 Colossians 3:5 Philippians 4:8 Meditate on each of them. |
livingchrist:Expand that Luke 1:31-33 well It says that Jehovah will give him a “Kingdom”? That is, Jesus being the one having legal right to be the prominent Heir(Ezekiel 21:27), therefore once Jesus Christ has completed his assignment he will hand over that “Kingdom” to his Father who gave it to him in the first place. 1Corinthians 15:24-28 This never-ending cycle of arguments is just a result of you cherrypicking scriptures and refusing to accept that other parts of the Bible contribute to the overall theme of what God's Kingdom is. |
