Thoniameek: I agree with everything you wrot except number 3
Reason(s) being If you privatize government assets that weren't working properly or at all, it will only encourage capitalism...
Let me elaborate: take the crude oil for instance it would've been better if we built the refineries and make sure things were working at least to some extent before handing it over to a private sector....
If not, it'll make the private sector exploit the people for so many reasons and for what is theirs and theirs to enjoy if only the government were accountable....
Wish I knew a better way to put this to you
It's like when you want to sell a bad car; you would get ridiculous pricing because of the state of the car, the buyer wouldn't take into consideration what they would make afterwards.....
Capitalist system is one of the many problems Nigeria has no thanks to the colonial masters
What exactly is wrong with capitalism? Capitalism has brought many people out of poverty than any other economic system that i know. Socialism and communism have failed woefully.
Also, the govt has NO business running refineries or getting involved in business that should be left to the private sector. There job should be to monitor and collect taxes.
If the naija govt were smart they sell off those refineries quickly. They don't have the money or the technical expertise to make it run at full capacity. They should just cut there losses and get out of the business asap. The Nigerian people would benefit from it as long as the auctioning of those refineries is done in a fair and transparent manner.
AreaFada2: The majority might still be from Edo for now, but it is changing fast. I watched a documentary on BBC a while back. The lady trafficked as far back as 17 year ago was not from Edo. Luckily a white guy rescued & married her. They now run a charity in Italy to rescue more women. There were clearly many non-Edo women.
On social media, there people I have known for years, who were fairly ok in 9ja: hairdressers, fashion designers, etc. I have persuaded many not to travel. Telling them asawo is what they will end up doing there. Because their stories of a "benevolent guy or lady" have looked suspicious. With a sudden interest in going abroad plus mentioning Spain or Italy. And they are from across South of 9ja. The one that did not listen and is in Italy since about 4 weeks now is from the South East. And she has never lived in Edo. I passed on the charity details to her.
When there is a problem in 9ja, instead of recognizing the danger & potential "contagion" effect of it, we focus on tribes. We forget that we share one geographical, economic & social space. Mores, norms, morality & culture are becoming more & more fluid.
Man, that's crazy! Governors need to make this a campaign issue during there gubernatorial races.
proddey: I was meant to travel to the U.S seven years ago but I decided not to because I felt my chances of marrying a Nigerian lady would be higher if I remained in Nigeria. Seven years has passed and still nothing nothing. For those of you who feel changing location, like returning back to Nigeria, would increase your chances of finding a spouse, it is not guaranteed, you had better just remained where you are. Your spouse would locate you there. Your life must continue and you shouldn’t make decisions around finding a partner.
Bro, this is so me. I have been in yanki for too long and i am beginning to think that i can only meet someone when i come back to Naija.
proddey: I am a 37 year old bachelor and I must confess that never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine that someday I would be desperate to get married. When I was in my twenties, I used to hear of desperation amongst ladies to get married but I never clearly understood the feeling. I felt only ladies become desperate to get married; I never knew that guys also become desperate at a particular age.
Once a 35 yr old single lady in my former office was crying in the office. She refused to speak on the reason why she was crying until she eventually opened up to one of my colleagues to say that she feels like she might never get married again. Apparently she had tried all she could but no one seems to be interested in her hand in marriage. It was actually quite amusing to me because I used to think that we all have the ability to control our emotions regardless of what we are passing through.
Everything changed about me when I turned 34. One day I was on my bed in my bedroom and suddenly I felt a rush of emotions come upon me so strongly that all of a sudden I just began to realise that I was desperate to get married. I really can’t explain what happened to me that day; you need to actually experience it to know what I’m talking about. By the following year the desperate feeling became like torture and the loneliness was so depressing. I could no longer bear it when I attended weddings to see other young couples getting married. I could no longer stand it when I hear people discussing marriage or weddings around me; I would just stylishly excuse myself from their midst.
In my office they nicknamed me "the oldest bachelor". Trust me, I really don’t find that nickname funny at all. Even when people innocently ask "Hey, why are you not yet married?" or "what are u waiting for?" These are questions that I just can't take emotionally. Naija peeps could be so insensitive at times! I’ve had two ladies tell me that they cried on their 30th birthday because they never ever imagined that they’d still be single at age 30.
I must confess that when I go to church these days, I barely pay attention to what is being preached. Instead my eyes just keep roaming round the church checking out all the single ladies to see which one of them I can poach on immediately after service.
I was meant to travel to the U.S seven years ago but I decided not to because I felt my chances of marrying a Nigerian lady would be higher if I remained in Nigeria.
For those of you who got married early or who are still young so you never experienced the pressure to get married, you really don’t know what matured singles are passing through. Sometimes, you find yourself thinking too much and the thoughts can really weigh you down. Matured single ladies cry a lot.
If me as a guy could be feeling like this, I can only imagine what the ladies are passing through emotionally and psychologically. I know that ladies feel the pressure much more. At least we guys don’t have our biological clocks to think about. It gets to a stage that your parents will stop disturbing you to get married, they’ll now start praying for you.
For those of you reading my post, it is my prayer that you all get married at the right time and age and particularly to the right person so that you don't have to pass through the emotions of desperation to get married.

WOW!!! So this are all the LGA's in Ondo? Why should a state that small have so many LGA's? What's even sad is that most of this states are not even self sustainable. Without allocation from the central govt, this local govts would collapse.
Nigerian governors today passed a vote of confidence on the minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma and her finance counterpart, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, saying they were not responsible for plunging the country into recession.
WHAT?? Na wa o. No one is saying they plunged us into a recession what we are saying is that they don't seem to know how to lead us out of it. Kai! Naija sef! And this are the leaders who are supposed to govern our states.
annnikky: Being single can be fun, so is being in a serious relationship – as long as you are with the right woman.
Sometimes it can be difficult to find the right woman because women have different characters and even the perfect girlfriend can have her weak points. However, the following are traits that tell if your girlfriend is a keeper or potential wife.
Below are signs of a perfect girlfriend:
1. She will not change you A great girlfriend will not make or try to turn you to the perfect guy, she will rather be cool with the way you are since you are satisfying her with the love she actually wants or deserve from you. Fine there may be few things that needs fixing and amendment but instead the good girlfriend adjust to your imperfections and accept the fact that you are not perfect.
2. She will be open to you She tells you everything about her, opens up about her past and problems. She let you know whatever is bothering her not hiding anything from you because she trusts you, loves you and wants you to know about them.
3. She never nags you A great girlfriend knows this and chooses her battle wisely She is the one who can let the small things go so that you can feel perfectly at ease in her company. You are both relieved that there is no nit-picking or nagging. You have both moved on and upgraded. You are now on a journey of personal growth and mutual self improvement.
4.She is a good listener She is a perfect listener always wanting to know what went wrong and she is always ready to give you listening ear and ask for details focusing on what you are telling her. Meaning she knows that listening actually draws people close.
5.You have a lot in common You both have lot of things in common like going to the movies, swimming, and love the same kind of music, most times you are on the same track most of the time.
6. She respects you The good girlfriend will respect you no matter what. she prefers to discuss things with you in private rather than embarrass you publicly. When she respects you she will be loyal to you, treats you well and protect your best interest when you are not around.
7. She gets along with your friends and family She doesn’t have a problem with your family instead she will make an effort to get to understand their sense of humor and get to want to know your group of friends. She fits in with your family so easily and free.
Blue3k: Since when has it been unconstitutional. Lol why are people crying over this. The government has failed in every business and you people want them to continue. From NEPA, Oil refineries, Telecom to road maintenance . Shut up I beg I want to buy shares LNG and refineris lol.
slick1: Nigeria's problem has always been that of mismanagement, greed and bias which has led to the implementation of silly policies that have pulled us down for so long and make life hard for the common man. You are selling assets to revive the economy right? Ok, who will manage the fundsobtained from the sale (i.e. if ever there is a sale cos govt can just transfer ownership to trusted loyals and quote a might amount to fool the public), the same govt that have over the years bn so wasteful with resources? Put the right policies in place, give jobs to d right people (i.e. put nepotism and favouritism aside) and in no time this country will be on track to be one of the greatest nations in the world.
The youths are already giving up on the nation. God help us
Dude, we have been privatizing assets for years like NITEL. What's wrong with that?
MadCow1: Instead of all these billionaires to band together and Hijack the Nigerian league and the CAF Champions League they are going to put more money into the English league that s already filthy rich..
The EPL was a product of some investors injecting money into the league.. Now its attractive to the world.
With Nairabet, GLO, DSTV and co all there now, how about we fix our league.
Wrong! why should he put his money in a disorganized league? What shrewd businessman would want to put his money in a venture that they don't feel they are going to get good returns from? The premier league is what it is today because of forward thinking and planning several years ago. This is business not a charity.
Gbadegesin19: Instead of him to invest in our local Nigerian League. Later he'll open his mouth n say Nigerians don't patronize locally made goods #nonsense...
Recession Continues.
why should he patronise the local Nigerian league when there is no organization?
Izonpikin: let states provide their own electricity...
what kind of country is this??...how can we continue to do the same thing and expecting different results....??
no minister of power, not even fashola can ensure we have electricity 247 without efforts from the states or regions...lets just scrap this central system abeg...
Bros, 20 gun salute for this your post. Finally some reasonable post here.

When will you people learn that oil is not necessarily a blessing but a curse. It corrupts governments and keeps incompetent and bad regimes in power. It also pollutes environments and fuels wars. Oil does not develop a nation, its planning and commitment to free market policies that does that. Just look at the middle east; UAE and Saudi Arabia and see how far those countries have almost completely diversified from oil meanwhile there African counterparts are still clamoring for which state has more oil. Some of the world's richest countries like Taiwan etc have no mineral resources but look how far and advanced they are. Now look at countries like Angola, Russia with all there oil and yet are a complete mess. One would think that Nigeria would learn from the chaos in Venezuela but nope they are still wallowing in there ignorance.
Reps to brainstorm on what? What they need to do is to sit down and read the Ayn Rand classic called Atlas Shrugged. Study it like a devotional and there eyes would be open.

Funlordjnr: Senseless investments by foolish people! How many bayelsans can even afford to stay in the security man's section sef?
Instead of them to construct factories or infrastructure in order to write their names in gold while still helping those around them that are suffering the effects of their misrule it is luxury that they feel is what is required!
Anyway they need safe places to count stolen dollars, cheat on their spouses and drink ogogoro to stupor I guess!
Its so sad that Niger Deltans don't even hold there leaders accountable, instead they put all there blame on the federal govt. The fed govt is definitely not blameless but its a two way street.
Businessideas: We ain't selling NLNG. Rather bring in more competitors like government is doing with the refineries. Dangote isn't a saint when it comes to how we got into this mess. He's among the major financier of the pdp and got returns on his investment even at the detriment of the nation. Our primary reason for getting into this mess was because GEJ government stole the nation dry and made no investment or saved up for the rainy day.
stat·ism ˈstātˌizəm/Submit noun
a political system in which the state has substantial centralized control over social and economic affairs.
Example: Nigeria practices statism. Another example: Statism has failed woefully in Nigeria.
Dude, Dangote is right. The fed govt has noooooooooooo business getting involved in business like the energy industry. There job is to monitor, regulate and collect taxes. This (statism) is one of the things that has been holding Nigeria back for decade.
