BusinessRe: Dangote To FG: Sell NLNG, Beef Up Reserves, And Recession Will Go By December.. by davidif:
rusher14:
Just say you want to buy.

You want the NLNG be sold for 15 Billion Dollars that some people in government have in their back pocket?
Has it occurred to you how they got the money in the first place?

There are many times I agree with Dangote but this isn't one of them.
Why should the govt be involved in the energy industry the first place? Isn't there job just to collect taxes, regulate and to make sure everyone is following the rules?
In developed countries, govts (be it central, state or local) usually have no business getting involved in the oil business or controlling resources, they simply leave that to the free market.

Naija would be out of a recession if they too had there hands out of business like Natural gas (or oil) and leave it to private enterprise. Until we learn private property rights and the power of the free markets in this country, the country might not reach its potential. I have said it before and i would say it again, STATISM does not work. There is a reason why Nigeria and other African countries are poor and that's partly because statist policies in those countries that stifle innovation and job creation. If you think i am lying check out Nigeria's rank in the Economic Freedoms Index, you would see that Nigeria ranks #116 and they are wondering why Nigeria is still poor.

a political system in which the state has substantial centralized control over social and economic affairs.

Example: Nigeria practices statism.
Another example: Statism has failed woefully in Nigeria.
BusinessRe: Dangote To FG: Sell NLNG, Beef Up Reserves, And Recession Will Go By December.. by davidif:
My own suggestion before was that they should even sell 100 percent of NLNG. I don’t think government should be in any business of investing in sectors of LNG.

•Government should not be in the business of building factories, but just collecting taxes

WOW!!!! See redundancy. This is what you call big government. This govt has waaaaaaaaaay too many ministries. We should have less than 10 ministries: Defense, Finance, Justice, Education, Sports, Labour, Information, Agriculture, Energy, Health, Commerce. Everything else should be scrapped or merged with this other ministries. The Nigerian govt is so wasteful. I guess na too much oil money dey cause am.

PoliticsRe: Recession: Quit Now, PDP To Buhari by davidif:
blueto:
But it has been about a year and some months since buhari have been elected president and why should he keep blaming the past govt for your present and foreseen failures?

The past govt was already diversifying the economy when the gullible zombies voted you in the certificateless cattle rearer that came and obliterated the good efforts by the previous govt.

through the comprehensive Agricultural Transformation Agenda program of the previous govt, they recorded many landmark achievements. Through agriculture they created thousands of jobs across the country. The provision of inputs in 10 Northern states enabled dry season farming; and profitably engaged over 250,000 farmers and youths even during the dry season.

Through the comprehensive Agricultural Transformation Agenda program, inflation fell to 7.8% in October 2013, its lowest since 2008, as a result of higher domestic food production.

they launched the Growth Enhancement Scheme to provide targeted support for seeds and fertilizers to 5 million farmersper year or 20 million farmers within fouryears. Through the scheme, they were providing subsidized inputs to farmers via an e-Wallet program. In fiscal year 2013, an estimated 4.2 million farmers received subsidized inputs. As a result, in 2013, they produced 1.1 million metric tonnes of dry season rice across 10 Northern states; and over 250,000 farmers and youths in these states are now profitably engaged in farming even during the dry season.

they launched Staple Crop Processing Zones to support investments in the entire agricultural value chain. there are significant private investment commitments from agribusiness ventures such as: Flour Mills of Nigeria, the Dangote Group, Syngenta, Indorama, AGCO, and Belstar Capital.

In 2012, 2.2 million metric tonnes of cassava chips were exported, exceedingthe Agricultural Transformation Agenda’s target by over 100%, while the 40% substitution of cassava for wheat has been achieved through research and collaboration with the IITA and Federal Institute for Industrial Research.Similarly, there has been a decline in wheat imports to Nigeria from an all-time high of 4,051,000 MT in 2010 to 3,700,000 MT in 2012.

About 200 women in Benue State were trained on how to make compost for farming and 360 farmers in the same state, were trained on climate change adaptability in agriculture. The environment and farming in Benue state got a boost from about 600 men and women in Benue state who participated in training on how to be environmentally better farmers.

they established community woodlots of 10 hectares each in Plateau and Kogi (10ha) states. they restored 10 hectares of degraded forest in Achareni Forest Reserves in Kogi state and rehabilitated 10 hectares degraded forest reserves in Niger state. the administration also launched Presidential Initiative on Coastal and River Bank protection on flood in Asa River (Kwara State). they established two skill acquisition centresto train people on the fabrication of solar -powered grinding machines in Kaiama and Baruten in Kwara State. and so on!

What policies has Buhari projected to diversify the economy?
Dude, its not the job of the govt to be getting involved in Agriculture and commerce. There job is to create a stable environment for businesses and Agriculture to strive. When will you Nigerians learn that govts are not good at running things? (NITEL anyone? Nigerian Airways? NNPC? huh huh huh) There job is to oversee and monitor and not to get involved in what private enterprises should be doing? (STATISM DOES NOT WORK angry)

If your man Jonathan was such a competent president what did he do about unemployment that has plagued this country for decades?
If he was so good what did he do about our archaic and dilapidated educational system? uhn?
What of infrastructure (electricity etc)? what did he do about that in his entire duration in office?

Pray do tell me why did he not liberalize the economy and get rid of the regulations and bureaucracy that has stifled job creation in this country for decades?
Where was he when the country was being looted high and dry?
According to the Transparency International’s 2015 Corruption Perceptions Index Nigeria is ranked 136th out of 168 countries in and from 2006 and 2013, 1.34 trillion naira ($6.8 billion) in public funds were stolen by government ministers and bankers and here you are talking about him like he was the second coming of Franklin Roosevelt. And its that administration that you trust to get you out of a recession?

I am not saying that the current President is any good (he sure does not inspire confidence) what i am simply saying is that i would not trust his predecessor to run my company talk less of running a country.

I told you in my earlier post on why we need electoral reform so that we would have better candidates running for election next time and you didn't even bother to comment on that all you thought of was how Jonathan was such a 'good' President. I am sorry to tell you that i won't even let him teach my children talk less of allowing him to run my country.
PoliticsRe: Recession: FG Summons Emergency Session Over Economy by davidif:
Until this country liberalizes its economy and gets rid of the regulations and bureaucracy that stifle business and job growt this country would not reach its full potential.
If i were the President i would use this crisis as an opportunity to restructure the country along regional lines and COMPLETELY cease allocations. This are the things that stifle innovation and economic progress in this country.

He was someone that was able to keep Nigeria from economic crises, unlike the clueless certificateless cattle rearer that wasted no time in doing so.

Even if the clueless cattle rearer is elected president of US today, he will lead them into recession.
You don't understand how economic recessions work bro. This things are usually cyclical, its not necessarily something a President can keep a country from. At times, economies just take a downturn so its the job of the leaders that be to prepare shock absorbers in the system to cushion the blow which is what President Jonathan failed to do.

The Nigerian economy is built on a very volatile commodity like oil (talk about building your foundation on sand) and yet the fact that his administration had 8 years to prepare us for an oil glut by diversifying the economy and saving our surplus but yet did none of that is just unforgivable. If President Jonathan were a good leader, he would have realized that you can't build an economy on a commodity like oil and would have prepared us for this by leaving us a robust economy able to withstand this recession but his administration never did that, they just squandered and mismanaged our surplus. Its really sad.

The Truth.

Even if PDP a were bunch of peculators/looters like some people pontificate about them, but the fact that they demonstrated rationality, diligence proficiency in their administration is inconfutable and cozy.
For instance, some of Jonathan's policies and programmes were evaluated by the World Bank and other reputable int'l economic organisations as some of the most effective programmes of its kind globally.

Unlike certificateless cattle rearer, who suddenly became a preferred choice to a Ph.D holder due to some irrational resentments, came on board and started formulating and implementing policies that are inimical to the economy and making goofy statements that are also pernicious to the economy. Fired the major technocrats that kept the economy moving, and replaced them with unmerited northerners, party members, conjugal and consanguine relations.

To be frank, I don't foresee APC ruling for uninterrupted 16yrs like PDP did, because they are just unprepared for governance.
Trust me, you don't want someone like Jonathan to be your President during an economic crisis and you definitely don't want the party that squandered our excess just before the recession hit.

But on a serious note, why is it that in a country of over a 100 million people we had to settle for two lackluster candidates? Why don't we have open primaries like they have in the U.S where the people vote to determine who represents there party in the general elections?
Won't it be good if we could the same thing in Naija where each state sets its own primary date and on that date the people of that state go to the polls to determine who wins there state (person who wins most number of states wins the party nomination) as supposed to just allowing the party cabals to do the picking? I don't know about you but i would rather the people pick there party candidates as supposed to some party insiders.

Ideally, i would have loved to see multiple candidates (upwards of 17) run for the APC nomination and another 17 run for the PDP nomination. Then the people in the various states vote in the primaries to determine who wins the right (the party winner) to represent there party (APC or PDP) in the general election. This way we would have better candidates and better ideas. I wonder why the person who wrote the Naija constitution didn't include this provision in there.

[b] alright!!!
when you want to date a single mother, You have to consider the following things:
Age of the child!
The location of the father!
The "relationship" status of the father!
Your friends and family!

Its easy to look at it and say! Sure why not(when you haven't laid with her) but after eating the fruit!
"Reality will set in", i asked you, For your age cause its usually men that want to settle down that consider what you are considering

look at it this way, she will "never" fully have your time
The father will always have access to her, can easily lay with her if he wants funny enough!
She will leave you in a "heart beat" for him
The child wont like you at first, he / she will be very negative to you(that may change over time)

if the child is in the village (like in most cases) i will advice you to forget about her!

Sit down and ask yourself if you handle all that and decide! #its your life!

1. Men presume they’re already taken This is a number one reason most of the hottest girls in Lagos are still single. A lot of men assume that because the girl is pretty, has an education, makes her own money, and seems happy, she must already be taken so they give up even before they start. They do not bother to get close to the girl or even ask her out as they feel they would be fighting an already lost battle.
