@ op, no mind all these bashers...my take is...dnt sign off yet...give it time...love grows...try to look @those lil aspect of his life u admire....truth is, smtin must have attracted you to him in the first place, look more into that tin...a relationship that started like this always end great...allow the love to grow...instant love or love @ firstsight neva works, it fades away with time...i'd categorically tell you that if you go into a relationship because you love the person, i bet the love will diminish with time...relationship is much more than just love.
Wow!!!!! So you are dating someone out of pity?
You do know that its possible to like someone and not love them right?? For goodness sakes, love cannot be forced! Na wa for una naija people.

Amberon:
we have a very similar situation. My bf who happens to be my best friend persisted and disturbed me for years, I finally gave in but I don't love him one bit. The thing is that he's crazy about me, before we started dating we'd sleep over at each other's houses a couple of times but he never touched me nor asked for sex. up till this day, he hasn't asked me for sex.

he's cute, dresses very very very well, neat and treats me like an angel. I told him countlessly that I didn't love him and couldn't date him but he came back begging and vowed that he must marry me. He even told everyone that we're engaged....

Anyways I made a promise to stick with him even tho I don't love him, after all the one I used to love didn't treat me well.

PS: before someone starts saying sh!t, I'm not dating him for money. I know I won't fall in love again, so I gave in simply because he loves and cherishes me, he's purpose driven and has good qualities which so many men lack. he also advises me like a sister.

Bros, abi o. It was a smart and witty retort but trust Nigerians to blow things out of proportion.

If there was anything on this thread that was even close to epic in this thread, it would have to be vizkiz comment (the one with the blue font).

The yellow lights are from sodium bulbs. They are skin friendly and do not produce ultraviolet rays which could lead to a lot of health hazards.

The white light on the other hand is gotten from mercury bulbs which comes with a lot of UV hazards. Eliminating these hazards increases the cost of production. Which makes it more expensive to install.

Personally I'd rather go with yellow light, sodium bulbs with no potential skin cancer, long term effect than the mercury bulbs.
Boy, this is sooooooo wrong on many levels.

Stop comming across like you are daft.

Is the whole of US illuminated by LED's? The cost of conversion from conventional lightings like mercury and sodium to LED nor be come chop. If developed nations are utilizing both options is it Nigeria with her economy almost on the brinks that should go all the way LED?

Btw, like one of the posters opined, LED's illumination levels could end up being hazardous to in-experienced drivers.
Hahaha, you are funny bro. I live "abroad" and I can definitely tell you that white light is used for street lights where I live and boy are they much better options than the yellow light.
Secondly, saying that white light is bad for drivers "unless you are a pro" is completely ridiculous . I am guessing whoever said it has probably not seen where it has been used before so I am not going to press the issue further.
Thirdly, white light is a significant energy saver than the so called yellow light and they have a much stronger illuminating effect meaning that it is almost a win win situation for city administrators and the citizenry of the locale.

So bros abeg, check your science before coming here to boldly proclaim them as facts.
CelebritiesRe: Davido: Sony Music Entertainment Confirms Deal by davidif:
Chei! I hope it's not a 360 deal o. Over here, some people say that signing with a major record label almost amounts to slavery.

For those of you who don't know, back in the day (I mean in yanki) recording companies made profit from the artists album sales while the artists made most of their money from touring and image rights/endorsements.

Now that people don't buy albums like they used to, recording companies decided to start taking a certain percentage of the artists touring money and even endorsements in some situations.

So, I truly hope this is not what davido signed. I also hope he didn't sign away his publishing rights as that could mean that he is possibly signing away a future part of his income.

Either way sha, I hope he has a really good lawyer who was by his side to read the contract.
PoliticsRe: THE ECONOMIST Tags Jonathan As "An Ineffectual Buffoon" by davidif: 12:28am On Jan 29, 2016
Mynd44:
As much as I think President Jonathan was ineffective as president, I think the Economist needs to tone it down with the name calling. Tagging him a buffoon is obviously a way to get more attention and more people to read this article which I must say does not have much (I dare say any) content.

They need to get back to writting articles they are known for like the one that made Nigerian soldiers chase after newspaper vehicles in a bid to stop them from getting to the stands in 2014(or was it 2015?). grin

And for President Buhari's supporters, dont celebrate, the economist is not known to pick sides. I can bet they will soon throw out another article to diss the president and yes, call him names.

But Buffoon though……ouch.

This is gonna strike some nerves
Please what article are you talking about 'that made Nigerian soldiers chase after newspaper vehicles?".

FamilyRe: MY experience: Helping to Have A Good Death. by davidif:
OP, great insightful post. It's good to take a break from the predominantly shallow and vain posts that seem to dominate this website at times. Thanks for sharing.

On a serious note, one of the powerful deception of the enemy is to convince us that we have enough time. It is something that has been weighing heavily on my mind for months now. That's why I have been praying lately that God would help me not to waste my time because time=life. I pray that God will teach us all to number our days and to redeem the time because the days are evil and everything seems to be designed to distract us. Amen.

Royver:
This is a very deep and insightful topic. Kudos.
I remember one of the first deaths I experienced as a fresh intern just out of med school. The guy was a young dude in his late 20s and had HIV. I came to his bed when he was taking his last breaths. At that time HIV was still highly stigmatized disease and all his family had abandoned him to his fate. I saw his struggling and gasping for breath, sweat streaming down his face and very restless. I asked the nurse if anything could be done and she said no, he was already moribund. I could see the agony in his face as he struggled with death.
I had just finished watching an American movie where the guy had been talking to his comatose friend nd consoling him. And they say the last sense to go in death is hearing. So I bent close to him and whispered encouragement and told him he would be OK on the other side, that he shouldn't be afraid. The guy calmed down almost immediately. I squeezed his hand for a short while and then let go. It didn't take long after the fellow died. I honestly felt the talk helped him. It would be nice if people keyed more into this instead of screaming and sometimes hitting and pinching the dying.
Nice thread.
What a great post this is. I remember reading a book called 'Placebo' by Howard Pitman (I recommend this book to pretty much every believer) and he talked about his experience with death and how God spared him and gave him a second chance. He said one of the best ways to die is to be surrounded by friends and family on their death bed because that moment is the lonliest thing you could ever possibly experience and he said he couldn't imagine how terrible it must be for people who die by themselves. How awful that must be.

to me Nigerians have this issue of inferiority complex.

wake up..
if that is a music class what wrong with the fact that your kids know all these.

in as much l appreciate what you have written...you got it wrong here

Some will give homework that any sane person
knows that it is the parents that will eventually do
it.
My parents, my elder brothers never did any of my
homework for me.
Homework is meant to test if the child has a good
grasp of what you imparted and also to see if your
method of teaching is working.
You don't test me as a parent.
You test your pupil and you make an assessment
of your own teaching skills.
What sort of nonsense assignment is this?
What concerns a pupil with Sir Shina Peters?
Is this part of the school's curriculum?

you give them questions they don't know at times to prepare them for the next class... that widened their knowledge.... cos they just have to ask to get there parents' view on that....and by the time you come for you next class you will be surprise at the information they have garnered....

so wake up my sister today's kids are quiet different from 2,3 decades ago kids..

when you are confuse you ask questions instead of coming here what stops you from going to the sch to know why, what and who....

celebrate your own..

When I started selling perfumes and body spray in school, some customers have this habit of. spraying almost half of the the perfumes on there clothes just to perceive or test (as they often call it, ) to know if the fragrance is nice.they end up not buying it. One day like that, a guy mistakenly dropped and broke a bottle of explore perfume,in the process of" testing" the perfume.I politely told him that he has to pay for it, he flared up and thought he could use harsh tone to intimidate me. I only told him to either giveme my money or tell me when to come and collect it. its an accident , and that's why am giving it to you at exactly the cost price. he refused, I went straight to his departmental President who happens to be customer as well and reported him. I don't know what happened, the next day, he called me and gave me my money and apologized as well.
After that,my policy became, I will open the perfume myself and show you. As well as spray you for the testing. And it has really been working for me.
You should spray it on a small piece of paper and hand it over to him.

Some people cant survive outside a strong central government that is involved in all things. You know those people.
Guy, it doesn't even make sense in the first place. How can a federal govt be involved in almost every sector in an economy? From mining to power generation (and even distribution), from the media (NTA) to even banking.
When has the govt ever being good at running anything? No wonder things hardly run well in naija. Almost everything the govt has tried to get involved with has either failed or being substandard: NNPC, Ajaokuta, electricity generation (NEPA), aviation. You would think they would have learnt their lesson by now.

The job of the govt should be to make things easier and conducive for business, provide national security, make sure that the rules and regulations are being followed and to get out of the way so that they don't become a hindrance to the private sector.
Haba! No wonder Naija is such a difficult place to run a business.

Which kind mumu celebrity is she? It's basically on nairaland that she's a celebrity. If I see her outside,I won't even recognize her. The word celebrity has been so bastardized to the extent that every Tom,Dick and Harry is now a celebrity. My immediate younger sister participated in 3 beauty pageants, came out tops, qualified to represent Nigeria in an international pageant(but ended up not going). She's gone on to bag a B.Sc and a M.Sc in maths and economics from one of Nigeria's leading federal Universities, has worked with a few organizations and has just gotten a job with a federal govt parastatal.

My baby sister won a pageant, has bagged a B.Sc from a leading Nigerian federal university, and she's currently doing a Pgd at a leading private university in the country.
There are several other ladies who have won pageants and have moved further in life to better their lives academically and otherwise. Nobody counts them as celebrities cos they aren't.

Someone should advice this lady to get her life off social media and go find something meaningful to do with her life and time before it gets to late. I can't see the celebrity in her;I'm sorry.
