Then shame on them! Having someone else affording them the opportunity and joy of parenting (a child).

Shame on them.
True gays and lesbians should live a CHILDLESS life since they abhor the Biblical process of existentialism.

Thoughtless ideology. Direction less movements. Rebels without cause.

Mr davidif, your assertions are emotional, and emotions do not grow countries. You wont be the one to clean up the mess if it all blows up in our faces.
It is the job of a leader to examine problems, and bring in practical solutions, not romantic fantasies that will end up getting 200 tribes at each others' throat.I believe in trial and error approach to democracy,I believe in sometimes taking critical risks, but, there are some things that once broken, cannot be fixed.
Look at the OPC vigilante group, the Isakaba vigilante group, the niger delta vigilante militias; all these groups are armed vigilante groups from different regions, their initial purpose was to help the police in maintaining internal security in their different states, but do you know the death and chaos they have caused so far?,tribalism and religious intolerance has even caused these groups to clash on many occassions, destroying lives and property,is that what you call leadership?,can you contemplate the implications of this scenario on a grand scale?.
Wrong! The vigilantes did not work because they were a bunch of street thugs who were not accountable to the people hence the rampaging and the looting (sorry, but you can't let the wolf guard the hen house). This guys were not hired via a formal training system or qualification process. There was hardly any organizational structure and their means of investigation was using juju to find criminals. Big difference from a trained police hired from a highly qualified candidate pool and paid by the people with occassional oversight from the state. If Indonesia and India can do it then so can Nigeria. Where there is a will there is a way shikena.

EVarn:
One problem with you guys is that you want to copy everything from the US,guess what?,Nigeria is a heterogenous country of over 200 ethnics nationalities all vying for political relevance.
Local police can only work with fiscal federalism.
And what exactly does that mean?

I have said local govt or communities should be able to raise revenue from local property taxes (taxes on property you own like land or the house you own and not the one you rent) then those should be used to provide schools, emergency services, roads, policing etc. That's how things are supposed to be and it sure beats the status quo.
Goodness gracious! Now I am seeing why we have such poor leaders in our country. The leaders are so afraid to make decisions because of the possible setbacks (that may or may not happen) that the changes might bring so they just decide to remain in the same boat while its slowly sinking. Talk about indecision at its worst. Paralysis by analysis.
A leaders job is to analyse things, look at the pros and the cons, make a decision and not get too caught up in the weeds. Indecisiveness can be fatal and so is attempting to please everybody. Leadership is about taking risks. If all you are concerned with are the possible disadvantages of an action then I am sorry you are not a leader. The job is about taking risks and taking responsibility for tgem if they don't work out. Anyone can make suggestions but it takes a real leader to make the right decisions even when information is limited or when there are no good options on the table.

nowadays I don't really know what guys values in ladies... am not talking about the pictures o... have seen many pre wedding photos here and it make me believe guys good for beauty first...

Boys think girls are like books, If the cover doesn't catch their eye they won't bother to read what's inside. and if u tell them this... the reply is

" so will should take electron microscope along to see inner beautiful"
maybe this man is pointing to what he value most in his wife to be I don't know and it ain't my concern but just a piece of advice "u will leave with the character all your life not the beauty "

and some is out there saying It is because pheals is ugly
The way some Nigerians reason sef. Beauty and character are not mutually exclusive. In other words, one does not have to come at the expense of the other. It's possible to be beautiful and have great character at the same time and it's also possible to be ugly and have a bad character. Even in the bible it says Rebecca was quite a hottie and Rachel was also a smokeshow. So what exactly are you getting at?

Granting everyone a police force simply to make them happy will not solve anything,it will rather blossom into a national disaster.
What Nigeria needs is fiscal federalism, the local governments need to accomplish financial maturity first, before we talk about independent security.
And you know this How? The British model was for localities to have there own police force and it worked. This model we are pursuing has been a complete and utter failure. I say go back to what worked. Its not about appeasing about people but about sound policy.

Also, like I said earlier, the best way for a child to learn how to walk is for the kid to WALK. Stop carrying this local govts and force them to stand on their own feet. If they fall then they will get up and keep trying. Bumps and bruises are all part of the process. #letthebabywalk

Nigeria is not America, our demographics are more dynamic and volatile, and we have to plan along those unique lines.
And that's why we decentralize power with those minority group and one form of that is giving them the authority to protect themselves by forming their own security apparatus like a police force. Sorry bro but the pros here are much bigger than the cons.

RomanceRe: How True Is 'Behind Every Successful Man Exists A Woman'? by davidif: 10:24am On Jul 05, 2017
y3mi:
Okay, alright I agree the woman behind the succesful man could be any female such as a fierce and powerful mother, or the highly-placed aunt, or his sister in Qatar, or the loyal, dutiful and reliable wife, or his well connected mistress or even the rich sugar-mummy. But this thread isn't about any of them but just about one paticular female - the girlfriend.

I am referring to an imaginary guy/young man who haven't just got the potential to be succesful but is also focused (not over-ambitious), dilligent (not misguided by yawu-yawu or soccer gambling), and determined (not desperate) to give whatever it takes to realize his financial-making goal as when due but as it said, that no matter when and how he eventually excels, there ought to be a female in his life!

Therefore...I'm actually asking from a perspective that seek to

RECONCILE the argument that:

Should a guy becomes succesful without the aid, assistance or input of any females whatsoever but gradually develops 'trust issues' while looking for 'true love' as he becomes skeptical because of how hard it is for him to determine which of these babes genuinely loves him for his personality, despite his flaws and not because of his financial success

WITH

The argument given by a lady who argues that it would be safer to have multiple potentialists but more of already-made guys/men as 'boyfriends' or 'suitors' rather than risking being faithfully attached and patiently waiting for one prosperity-certain guy, all because of love, who, after breaking through at the end of the day, may decide to ditch her for someone prettier, sexier, curvier etc who did nothing and without him considering all the time, sacrifices and efforts given.

I have for long given this dichotomy some serious thought and now decide to bring it to your honored attention...so ladies, guys, fiends and friends..how valid does the saying ...behind every succesfull man, there is a woman applies in our Nigeria society ?
The quote is wrong but people love it so it sticks. Some of the most successful people in this world were single.

BusinessRe: Naira May Rise Further Against Dollar As CBN Pumps Additional $195m by davidif: 10:15am On Jul 05, 2017
dammy13:
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), in continuation of its drive to ensure liquidity and stability in the foreign exchange (Forex) market, has injected 195 million dollars into various segments of the inter-bank foreign exchange market.

The acting Director, Corporate Communications, Isaac Okorafor in a statement on Monday in Abuja said that 100 million dollars was offered to authorised dealers in the wholesale window.

Similarly the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) window was allocated the sum of 50 million dollars.

Also, those seeking forex for the purpose of business and personal travel, tuition and medical bills, among other invisibles, received the sum of 45 million dollars.

Okorafor said that the Bank’s continued intervention was aimed at strengthening the international value of the Naira, while ensuring accessibility to the greenback by customers who required it for genuine purposes.

The CBN in the last round of forex intervention in the inter-bank market on June 28, injected $195million to the wholesale, SMEs and invisibles segments of the market.

Recall that the Naira on Monday slightly appreciated against the dollar at the parallel market.

Naira gained two points to exchange at N365 to the dollar.

Pound sterling and the Euro traded at N465 and N412 respectively.

Trading at the interbank market saw the Naira closed officially at N305.95 to the dollar, while the pound sterling and the Euro closed at N397.12 and N349.22, respectively.

FamilyRe: I Caught Her Cheating, Wedding In Two Months, Should I Go Ahead Out Of Pity? by davidif: 10:08am On Jul 05, 2017
listenersky:
I just discovered my fiancee has been cheating on me. I discovered the chats she had with a married elderly man ,she initially denied it but she confessed after I showed her the evidence i had. We have been dating for six years and we did our intro early this year. We have picked the date of our wedding which is in few weeks time. People have been invited.

Her relationship with this elderly man didn't start now, she made me to understand that it has been going on for years. Now she has been begging me to forgive her and not put her to shame because PEOPLE are already looking forward to our wedding day.

Wedding preparations already in place. Infact preparations already 80% done. I'm really in a state of confusion right now because I don't know if I should go ahead with the wedding out of pity. And I am also scared that if I marry her out of pity, I might not love her the way I should as the thought of her being unfaithful over the years will never leave my head And how am I sure she's not cheating with more than one man?

Pls nairalanders, matured advice needed at this time.
How can you marry someone out of pity? You marry for love not for pity. The way you Nigerians think at times ehn?

nazanwannem:
Odartey Lamptey, a former Ghanaian professional footballer and now the assistant manager of Ghanaian football club Sekondi Wise Fighters, broke down in an interview with Nana Aba Amoah of GHOne's "Cheers" while disclosing how his ex-wife made him father kids who weren't his for 21 years.

According to him, the marriage came to an end after his wife filed for a divorce due to his inability to pay for his alleged oldest child's tuition fee in the U.K. However he got a bigger shock, after he heeded the advice of a friend who asked him to take his kids for a DNA test.

Odartey Lamptey, ex-Aston Villa and PSV midfielder,  disclosed that he had been with her for 21 years with 3 kids - ages 20, 19 and 8 - before he found out that they were not his.

Now broken, he revealed that when he confronted his ex-wife, she accused him of being impotent.

However, Odartey who has given his ex-wife the divorce she asked for, is now married with two kids and another on the way. According to him, he's now focused on his new family and football academy.

PoliticsRe: If Restructuring Worked For USA Why Not Nigeria? by davidif: 7:18am On Jul 05, 2017
LordAdam7:
India has more than 2,000 ethnic groups, more than 1 billion people, and India is the birthplace of four of the world's major religions (although 2/3 of the population is Hindu but not hugely more divided than Nigeria that's sharply divided into a Muslim North and Christian South). Yet India is one of the top 10 economies of the world.

Nigeria with less than 500 ethnic groups, less than 200 million people, and with only two major religions is supposed to be too multi-cultural to work?

The major problem with Nigeria is the political structure. Every other problem from corruption to tribalism to religious intolerance is a symptom of that problem.
