I've shown you how LeBron influenced the game on the court in my previous posts and I don't need to repeat myself.

The truth is that we like to dwell on narratives too much. We say them enough times until it begins to sound true. We can argue that MJ changed the game from a big-dominant league to a guard-dominant league, but that's trying to diminish the exploits of guys like Gervin, Oscar, West, Drexler and co. MJ had eight 30ppg season, Oscar had six, West had 4. I'm not even mentioning guys like Isiah, Magic and Stockton that dominated in a different way. The truth is that in every era, there have been dominant guards and bigs almost in equal proportion. MJs case was just different because he won a lot of titles in a short span.

All these players you mentioned that influenced the game on the court, can you tell me how each of them did it? I'm curious.

As for Curry and shooting threes, the Houston Rockets showed us that that is not the best attribute to rely upon if you want to win a championship. Curry and Klay were only able to win in 2015 because Kyrie and Love got injured. After they lost in 2016 they knew they needed something different, that was why they begged KD to come over. Curry with his three point prowess was never the best player on GS while KD was there, even though he was the reigning 2-time MVP at the time of KD's arrival. When KD got injured in 2019 Klay and Step couldn't get the job done. Last year LeBron and KD showed that the three is just a luxury, an afterthought. Going into the playoffs the Lakers were one of the worst 3 shooting teams in the league. In the last 5 years there has been little to prove that the 3 ball is what wins you championships.

The facts are there, this is not conjecture or inuendo. The two ball will always be more valuable and important than the three ball.

Steady, do not allow hate or the love of another becloud your reasoning or objectivity. Curry so influenced and changed the game to the 3s game that is played today. Give props to whom it's due, bro. Sure I don't post here, but I picked up interest in basketball by following this thread.

I don't give two shits about NFL discussions, you people can create a thread for it.

Chairman, calm down. I understand where you are coming from. I was once like you when I joined this thread, a little angry at the occasional NFL banter here. But I came to realise it's just NBA fans chatting about their other mutual passions and that many other NBA forums and talkshows actually dovetail into discussing the NFL especially during the playoffs.

I know it can be challenging for non NFL fans and newbies here but it's been a tradition here and it's been working for us and we don't want to rock the boat, do we? There is an American saying that If it ain't broke don't fix it. It's a wise saying.

What I'll suggest to all is that we shouldn't let the NBA discussions faint just like that while the NFL fever is on and we should put out occasional disclaimers to carry people who are new on the thread along so they are not alarmed at the intermittent NFL 'anomaly'.

For someone like him, bearing the Lakers' championship hopes and his own and the weight of such expectations on his shoulders, not being able to find his form was unacceptable and it would definitely have cost him and the Lakers the Championship.

Once Lebron could not find his form in the bubble, there were doubts he would find it before being eliminated. There were questions of whether father time had finally caught up with him during the break. There were worries that because of his age it would take him time before he recovers his form. These were legitimate doubts.

Meanwhile, the knock out stages of the playoffs were knocking and neither Lebron, AD or the Lakers could find any rhythm.

To tell you the truth I was scared and had my doubts that he could still find it in him during the bubble. Those things happen and I am sure that as his play suffered increasingly and his shots were not falling in that he would have moments of doubts and fears questioning if he can still find it in him before the Lakers were knocked out.

For a superstar and 'saviour' of his team to not be in form during the playoffs and not know when it would come, that would be scary as hell for most people.

And Lebron had never been in this kind of quagmire before. He usually primes himself to peak just before and during the playoffs.

So him saying this was his toughest ring is in order. I believe him. He and the Lakers could easily have lost this championship. That's the truth.

What we needed was a center and point guard, and Pelinka opted for the latter. You know there could be injuries, there could be suspensions too. And with this team that we have, there's going to be lots of blowouts. You don't want Caruso or Schroder playing blowout minutes. As for the center position we have Cacok and Kostas who can play those minutes. We're likely to get a center though in the next agency, when our hard cap softens.

Let's hope Gasol remains healthy and in form throughout the regular season and until we can get another centre. I know that Trezz and the others can fill in well in certain match ups. Lakers were big on defensive rebounds last season. They now have smaller guys and a slower but more cerebral Gasol for the same job.

Let's see how it pans out.

Quinn Cook back. Nice addition, and I think he'll get more opportunities this year than last knowing he's one of just 3 point guards in the team. Unlike last year that we had 5. But by and large he'll play more of garbage time than good minutes. Good to see him back though.

Did not fully understand the rationale for re-signing Cook. Wasn't used much last season and signing another centre as back up for Gasol seemed the logical thing to do.
