Politics › Re: Adeleke Sacks 12,000 Workers, Dethrones Three Monarchs by delpee(f): 5:05pm On Nov 28, 2022
OmoOdua3:
You guys should try to at least do some research before rushing to comment.

One of the said Monarchs mentioned is Mr Gboyega Famodun.
His Coronation was rushed within the last 1 week after it became totally clear that Oyetola wasn't coming back. They were hoping on another Supreme Court Governor, but that didn't materialize.

Who is he? Up till the time of his Coronation barely 6 days ago, he was the Osun State Chairman of APC. Are you still wondering about what was going on?

His Father (Adelani Famodun) was the Owa (King) of Igbajo before the last one (Retired Major Femi Fashade) died 2 years ago.
The throne is rotated among 5 Families. So, how could it be his/his Family's turn?
These Politicians want to turn everything to Emilokan. Not his turn (Oun ko lokan).

The same thing that happened in Igbajo was replicated in the 2 other Towns (Iree and Ikirun. These 3 Towns (as well as Ada and Iragbiji - Tinubu`s Home Town) are in the same Vicinity - barely 5 to 8 Kilometers separating each of them.

These Politicians are subverting not only our Traditional Institutions, but all other aspects of our lives. I really don't understand Nigeria's so-called Democracy. It is too destructive.

The quickly Installed Permanent Secretaries were clearly warned 5 days ago of the consequences of accepting the would-be Appointments.

And, how can you start employing thousands of unnecessary Workers after you lost your reelection? Insanity!

Kudos to Adeleke! Remove all the Boobytraps planted by Oyetola before commencing actual Governing Work.
Long live Osun State!

Most times, it is really tiring explaining things on Nairaland. It's like rushing to comment is more important than everything else.
Thanks for the detailed explanation.

No need for arguments. It's not compulsory. No one can be jailed for not paying tithe. It's a matter of understanding, wisdom and choice.

Family › Re: Late Husband's Family Withholding Her Aunt's Child by delpee(f): 1:50pm On Nov 27, 2022
Lummoni:
I hop someone will be able to assist.
So my Aunt is a South African woman who was married to a Nigerian man she met in South Africa.

They had a child & when he turned 9 months her husband suggested they visit his family in Nigeria.

A few hours before leaving for the airport back to South Africa, his parents sat her down and told her the baby would have to stay.

After many words & tears her father in law and husband assured her that he would be back in a 6 months to fetch the baby.

True to his word, 6 months later my Uncle in law returned to Nigeria to fetch his children, but 2 days after he arrived he got seriously sick & passed on a few days later.

My Aunt traveled to Nigeria to lay him to rest & had to extend her stay because her in laws kept giving her the run around about why she couldn't take her child (apparently some rituals had to be done for the child since his father had just passed).

She eventually left after her father in law warned her that if she keeps pushing, they (his wife a daughter) would do to her what was done to her husband.

Fast forward 11 years later, her father in law, & mother in law are both late, she sends money to Nigeria every month for her sons upkeep but her sister in law is withholding the child, does not allow him to communicate with her.

When a neighbor tries to let him speak with his mother, they beat him up, sometimes he doesn't go to school and has to go sell water at the market.

My Aunt has tried going with the Nigerian police but failed, has involved the Nigerian embassy but they are dragging their feet. We really do not know what else to do.

Why would they withholding someone's child (a mother who desperately wants her child back) when they can't even take care of his needs.

Maybe someone has been through a similar experience and may be able to help with suggestions of how to get the child back to his mother.
Your aunty should contact recognised human rights defenders.

Romance › Re: Men Now After If A Lady Earns Money by delpee(f): 5:18pm On Nov 24, 2022
Ammmy:
It's not easy being a single lady without a job now o. The economic situation of this country is now that bad.

When a man meets a woman in Nigeria now, he starts asking her where she works, what she does for a living, especially those hungry guys looking for a woman to compliment their finances.

If u say u don't have a job, they stop talking to you, forgetting that someone who has no job may be financially okay.

When has it become a must for a woman to have something doing? Men are meant to take care of women and spend for them and not the other way round.

In those days, nobody cares if a woman earns money or not.
Well, life is hard now and dutiful women have always helped their men anyway.

Every human being has a divine purpose which should be fulfilled. We're not created to be fully dependent on others for survival. A real woman excels in every way.

The Bible says givers never lack which means a giver is better than a receiver. What pleasure does one even derive from an almajiri mentality of always waiting for others to give? Not dignifying and it doesn't glorify God. Yorubas say "oke lowo afunni ngbe". Givers will always be blessed anyway.

Whites do not attend universities anymore.
Plumbing (including under-water-plumbing), electrician, painter-decorator, plaster technician etc etc are just 2-4 years and you go to the bank, borrow for tools and new van!
You start earning triple Vs masters degree holders.

Life too short for lengthy complicated university education and struggle to be employed then low pay despite your efforts.
This is something our youth who are graduates in tech/engineering of different cadres (tech schools, trade centres, polytechnics and universities) should consider. I know a man who graduated from Yaba tech and went to train in plumbing. He's in the Middle East reaping bountifully. Another is in the UK. Also one OND holder while on IT with an oil servicing company got trained in specialised welding and is reaping well.

University education is just the beginning. Skills acquisition doubles the chances of growth. That's why an accounting graduate still needs to take professional exams to be more knowledgeable and useful to society. Without practical skills infused, education is limited.

Many women go through a lot in their search for kids. The society puts so much pressure on the woman and those who cannot wait on God become so desperate and are willing to do anything to get out of their misery.

So unfortunate indeed. Women need to understand that a Pastor/Dr/Alfa recommending intercourse as a ritual is a fraudulent person. Surrogacy, adoption, artificial insemination etc are good options.

Men should stop wasting their time and money on this. What you have is designed by God and sufficient for you if you're in tune with God's plan for you. Discover yourself and your divine purpose. Use your talents wisely.

If you don't understand the message, try developing yourself spiritually.

In reaction to stakeholders’ disapproval of ET partnership, the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, stated that apart from being one of the biggest and most efficient airlines in the world, Ethiopian Airlines was the only airline that responded to its requests for expression of interest and fulfilled all the stipulated conditions laid down by Nigeria to be picked.

He said: “We did not cede Nigeria Air to Ethiopian Airlines. It is the only airline in the world that made $1 billion profit even during Covid-19 pandemic. It is the most prosperous, efficient and leading airline in the African continent and it was the only airline that responded to our request for partnership to run the airline after many months of advertisement of expression of interest.

“Even after some interested persons asked Nigeria to extend the time of EoI and we did, none of them showed interest. Despite the fact that officials of the ministry of aviation led by me personally visited some of the leading airlines across the world and pleaded with them to take up the partnership with Nigeria to set up the airline, none of them signified interest except Ethiopian Airlines, which has been allotted 49 percent shares while Nigerian institutional investors take up 45 percent while the federal government will take up only five percent
No one showed interest except Ethiopian airlines that knows that Nigeria Air will eventually be subsumed under them.

Must we have Nigeria Air? Why not promote Air Peace and others to represent the interest of Nigeria in the world airspace?
Business › Re: MTN Nigeria Appoints Karl Toriola As CEO by delpee(f): 7:25pm On Nov 13, 2022
Adebayo isn't a nigerian but a togolese , adebayo is a common west African native name. Am not hating or being envy am just stating the fact, have met so many west Africans like togolese, from beniné Republic Guinea, Senegalese, some central African Republic answering names similar to Yoruba but they told me they're not Nigerians but those names are native to West Africans particularly French speakers in west Africa
Adebayors origin is Nigeria, precisely Oyo State according to a newspaper report a few years back. They visited his village in Oyo North.

RuggedSniper:
^^^Yorubaland extends from Nigeria to Togo. Yorubas have lived in Ghana for over 220 years due to long-distance trading from the Oyo Empire. The family name Adadevor is originally from the Volta region of Ghana (Ewe ethnicity is indigenous to Togo and Ghana) as well. Dr. Stella Adadevor's father was of mixed Yoruba and Ewe parentage but was a Nigerian citizen and a direct descendant via his mother of 2 great Yoruba-Nigerians: Herbert Macaulay and Bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther (one of Ajayi Crowther's biological daughters gave birth to Herbert Macaulay).
Interesting history. Yoruba nation existed long before the British came and Europeans decided to partition West Africa to suit their purpose. That's why some people from Togo and Benin still speak or understand Yoruba. There are Obas there who are still loyal to Yorubaland.

He needs a visit from the Social Welfare Dept. He obviously doesn't understand that he's creating problems for the society by having children that he can't afford to train.
