Congrats Beremx dear. May God's grace abide with you and family. Your son shall live to glorify God always. Amen |
May God take you to greater heights! Well done, strong woman. Really proud of you. ![]() So why isn't this good enough for front page? |
I passed through Abeokuta recently and i was surprised. Much wider and better roads. However, the road from Papalanto through Ofada to the Sagamu flyover is terrible. There are many estates on that road. It runs parallel to the Lagos Ibadan express road which makes it a good alternative route for those living around Alimosho and Ifo LGs. Hope Gov Amosun has plans for that. |
tonygee88:I believe you're joking. ![]() Anyway that's working hard the negative way just like robbers. |
Hmmm! Words of wisdom. I heard the story of a young man who ventured into this horrible venture. His friends warned him to no avail. The story has it that he was with his sugar mummy in her home one day when Oga suddenly arrived. No long stories- he lost his life! Also heard of stories in the realm of spiritual stuff. I don't understand much of that but I know that nothing good comes easy. Young men, be warned. The friends and family you're trying to impress will run when trouble comes. Work for your money and be REAL MEN. Surulere! As Yorubas will say; Ohun to a ko ba jiya fun kii tojo, Ohun ta ba sise fun lo npe lowo eni. Summary- There's dignity in labor. Work hard to reap lasting blessings. |
Love him, care for him, feed him well and help him improve on his outward appearance. We've seen so many seemingly ugly men looking better over the years. Ignore Seal's face and you'll observe he's a hunk of a man! Emphasise the positive attributes in your mind and learn not to look out for the expression on peoples faces. Enjoy the love he showers over you. Concentrate on your gains and ease off the pain (which by the way is self inflicted). Believe me, there's nothing like having a peaceful, loving home which your husband is trying to build. Don't pull it down because you want to impress people who probably envy you. You are indeed blessed. Don't lose your blessing to folly. Be wise! |
Funny that the younger generation that should be more civilised are the ones against inter tribal marriage. Well, it's a lost battle already! I have several family members (male and female) married to other tribes (especially Igbos ) and doing great. God bless our Iyawos Okos and Anas (in-laws). Great relationships both ways. They are not OSU by the way which in any case is irrelevant to me. I still wonder why a set of people will be discriminated against within a tribe and you expect other tribes to respect you as a group. ![]() By the way, you guys have forgotten that Professor Chukuemeka Ike and Chief Emeka Anyaoku among many others are married to Yorubas. Maybe it's a class thing like some have suggested. The world has indeed changed, leaving some behind! Happy married life to them. |
I pray things don't get worse. There could be dire consequences if you can't afford proper Medicare in a registered private or government hospital. Please let her go back home! |
Shame on him! With so many young and will!ing ladies around, I wonder why someone of his status will go so low and humiliate himself. Rightly deserved too as his full names were mentioned by some commenters on Linda's blog. Real he goat. ![]() |
Hmmm! Easy to criticise and discuss conspiracy theories. I see the abduction as real and one of many. Remember the FGC Bunu Yadi students. People didn't care so they went a step further in Chibok apart from individual abductions in village raids. It's all so sad. Those who know the pains and stress of motherhood will understand their pains. May we never know the pain and troubles of searching for a missing child. Amen Almighty God, nothing is impossible for you and your divine will is supreme. Please intervene and help us resolve this matter. |
@Op Let her visit Mirabel Centre now she's on holiday. If indeed she was on her period and they took away her pant, spiritual issues are involved and may manifest later. Let her visit MFM for this as someone earlier suggested. They are good in sorting out spiritual matters for those who have faith in God. Blood sucking and taking undies with blood have deep spiritual significance. Ask some elders. |
Please take her to Mirabel Centre which is being managed by an NGO that counsels and helps rape victims. She can also follow them on Facebook. I empathise with you both. Perfect healing is her portion by God's grace. |
Nice one! |
Please where can we get the packaged Ebonyi rice to buy instead of this stale over processed rice from Asia? Sometimes I get local rice from Ilesa or Ofada rice. Far more nutritious and healthy. |
A new generation indeed! What happened to working for your money as it was in the past? Many were brought up by hardworking mothers who gave their all to make their children succeed. They were not fully dependent on men and they were greatly respected. Some of us are proud of our achievements (great or small). There's dignity in labor. You earn respect by having your own source of income not by being a beggar! Many young ladies complain about their in-laws without realising that no one looks forward to having a leech as a wife to their son/ brother. Linda Ikeji, Tara Durotoye, Mo Abudu, Joke Silva, Uche Pedro and so many more are visible examples to learn from. Be strong and accomplished women! Be beautiful in and out to glorify God and reap wonderful blessings. |
Is this not the refinery that we're told can only process crude oil imported from Venezuela at a huge cost? Which government built a refinery that can't process our own crude oil if it is true? Meanwhile I've not been able to buy fuel in the last few days. Sometimes i don't know what to believe. ![]() |
Reference:Those who know should give us facts. This is all so confusing. Owned by Caverton or LASG in previous years? |
The truth is that Nairaland had a lot of interesting and focused debates in the early days. I was a guest for a long time before I joined but I enjoyed the discussions of mostly matured minds some of whom are no longer here. Time changes, young people grow, values change and the beat goes on. Seun posted more often then which probably also made a difference. Rapid growth comes with the good, bad and ugly. Also there is a wide generational gap between members so the levels of reasoning and understanding differ. It shall be well with NL but Seun has a lot of work to do. |
Judging by her antecedents, if she genuinely wishes to have a child in her lifetime, she should keep the baby. The doctors opinion should not be disregarded. The guy may not marry her but if she can weather the storm, he'll be glad to know his child in future. An abortion now may seal all hopes of pregnancy in future. It's probably her last chance while the guy can marry any other lady later and have kids. Going forward, she should try and be more careful in her choice of a partner. Money isn't everything. |
As a mother, I feel so touched by Sugar belly's predicament. A 17 year old lady with a deep crush on a man she's easily accessible to but who has no love for her is a disaster waiting to happen. Our men should learn to view any woman they come across in the light of their sister, daughter, mum, aunt etc so as to be more careful in the decisions they make. Apart from prostitutes (some of who badly need help) most women expect to be treated with some love and respect. Sugarbelly was obviously too naive, grossly unexposed and probably not so close to her family. She should have confided in someone truly but it seems she was desperate to hold on to him and too scared to let go because of the anticipated consequences. They had videos of her doing those terrible things and her naked pictures which Mustapha has confirmed in a way. To Mustapha and those castigating her, I wish you well. Remember though that you have women that you love in your lives. Karma does have a way of doing things. To Sugarbelly, the Lord will surely strengthen and uphold you. You'll get out of this and still be great by God's grace. You've taken the right step by trying to clear your mind instead of losing it. Many young girls ( and hopefully boys) and parents will learn from this. The almighty God will lift you up again and we'll hear your name in worthy ventures in Jesus name. Amen! |
Been laughing so hard! Sorry o my people. Old school people like me simply 'camped' early this morning in front of regular shops and got good bargains. Many items were sold at 30-35% discount for real. I checked the prices weeks ago and early this week. Most of the good items were sold off within the first hour. Meanwhile my young ones were glued to Jumia and Konga waiting for the impossible. Very unfair deals. ![]() |
Sad! May his heroic soul rest in peace. God will surely comfort and uphold his family. Amen |
anathemiamia:This is sensible. |
Peace sign in the 70s -80s! Many students had it on their books, lockers etc |
@OP Read last Saturday Punch newspaper. It has a detailed analysis of why men sometimes cheat. It hurts badly no doubt but frankly, it's not wise to make divorce the first option if you're not in a physically abusive relationship. Get closer to God and try to heal. Always remember that you've got the power to rule your mind. I wish you and your family the very best. |
Those who read this thread and are willing to learn from it will not regret the time spent. It's wise to add lack of good communication skills as number 5. Sadly I've had to correct so many job application letters....poor construction, wrong spellings etc. Sometimes one wonders how some got their WASC not to mention degrees! High expectation is a major problem too. That's number 4. Start small and build up experience over the years. I've seen fresh graduates who insist on a minimum of 150k package for starters! The reality is that most employers regard the first six months (minimum) as a training period so the pay is poor. Those who are wise will seize the opportunity to get trained and improve their CV while others are worsening their situation by waiting for a dream job to manifest. Wise job seekers should befriend and visit vendors/libraries to read newspapers and copy job adverts for immediate response. I know people who got good jobs this way. Someone posted the same thing earlier. Those inclined towards self employment can volunteer to work with those on the chosen field and learn if they can't afford to pay for regular training. In summary, a desperate situation requires out of the box thinking. Always remember that God will bless your efforts only when you try. |
Phunmibi:Ara efo lo wa |
E Ku igbadun asiko yi. O dara pupo lati maa so ede abinibi wa. |
Watching a recap of Moments with Mo and soooo pleased to see six young and successful Yoruba entrepreneurs including the Jobberman guys and Ola Orekunrin of Flying Doctors. Amazed that she's not just a medical doctor but also a trained helicopter pilot! There's no limit to what our youths can achieve once they set their minds to it. We only need to encourage them to focus on their talents/gifts/interests. They need to seize opportunities, dwell less on 'free funds' and 'connection'. It's clear that many people start from the scratch. One thing they all have in common - education. Our public schools need some reengineering and reorientation to make the students succeed better. |
The Alake of Egba and the Olu of Ilaro didn't marry additional wives. One wife each. |
IlekeHD:Actually it's more of personal CSR and we are quite transparent within our group. We're not soliciting for funds - just trying to manage what we can raise among ourselves. Its all to God's glory! I only want people to know that with determination, everything is possible. The mind is very powerful. What it conceives becomes reality when we believe and work towards it. Many small groups taking on projects in different schools will have a major impact on our education system. Several schools in Lagos have experienced complete turnaround in the last 10 years due to the untiring efforts of old students e.g. Igbobi College, St Gregory's, Holy Child etc We've learnt a lot from them and we're doing great so far. It gladdens our hearts that we're making a difference in our own small way. We are committed to giving back and willing to weather the storm. We had very good education and want the same for the younger generation. Most of us are professionals in different parts of the world. We want to mentor the young ones to understand that they can accomplish anything if they set their minds to it. Considering the current situation in our schools, i believe that those who are not academically inclined should be encouraged to try other areas like sports, entertainment, IT, arts and crafts etc all of which are veritable paths to success. This okada riding, hawking and aristo mentality must stop. It's derailing our youths. This is long term though. |
