The President appoint the minister and live every governor he must get 25%
The constitution doesn't recognize the President as the governor of the FCT, but rather likes to see us treat the FCT minister as the governor, the area councils as local governments, and the national assembly as her law makers.
The President appoints at least, one individual in each state of the federation, but not required to win all the States.

AGAIN,the Kano State Governor-elect, Abba Kabir Yusuf has issued fresh advisory to financial institutions in the state, insisting his government will not pay back any loan granted Governor Abdullahi Ganduje’s administration. In a statement signed by the spokesperson to the Governor-elect, Sanusi Bature, he said the incoming administration would not honor any domestic or international loan issued to the state government, effective from March 18 to May 29, 2023. Tagged: “Public Debt Suspension Advisory,” Yusuf cautioned all subsisting and prospective lenders to the Kano State Government to be mindful of any issuance of facility without due consultation with the incoming administration. “Effective from March 18 to May 29, no lender (domestic or international) shall approve and issue any loan facility to Kano State Government without the ex
“Any such loan facility approved and issued to the Kano State Government between the date of election and the date of swearing-in without explicit knowledge and consent of the incoming administration will not be honored by the new administration. “All subsisting lenders to the Kano State Government shall take notice that all terms and conditions for all existing loan facilities shall be renegotiated by the new administration guided by the utilisation audit/review of each loan facility,” Yusuf warned.
Before the latest debt advisory, the Governor-elect had advised immediate suspension of all ongoing construction works on public places already sold by Ganduje’s administration. Of particular concern, were portions of land carved out of graveyards, public schools, mosque premises, healthcare centres, court premises and government reserve areas.

No source yet.
However, Mr. Abba, you'll pay the loan(s).
Government is suppose to be continuous, that's why we have two tenures, 4 years each.
You'll be responsible for whatever has to do with Kano state once you take over. It's also your responsibility to report any misappropriated loan to the appropriate authority. You'll only be accumulating interests on the loan if you refuse to pay back. People voted for you because they feel you have what it takes to make things better. This is governance, personal. It is believed Ganduje acted on behalf of Kano State, so it's wrong to say you won't pay his loan as if he took it for himself.

I just laugh at Ibos that complain of Agberos in Lagos. If you check very well, a sizeable number Agberos in Lagos are Ibos and other non-Yorubas. I remember in 2017 in Ijora, these guys almost robbed me and my friend with the guise of getting Passengers. All attempts to tell them proved abortive as they insisted on taking my bag. I had to scare them off by calling a security operative on my phone. These guys were Ibos o.
Moreover, if you go to the East, anywhere in the East, and your Car breaks down, be ready to pay for that space or get your car moving. These are the same people complaining of Agberos in Lagos. Hypocrisy!

But truth be told, the executive in Nigeria (the presidency) is waayy too powerful and can easily become a dictatorship. We copied the powerful American presidency without copying or having in place all the countless elements that keep the American president in check. Do you know that the president controls all the legal firearms in this country? And also directly or indirectly all the investigative bodies like EFCC, the Supreme court (he appoints them), the money (CBN), the oil, even the legislature and the INEC that declares them. In short, the president can become a dictator if he wants to be - only his conscience and the people UNITED can stop him. But Nigerian people will never be united so we are down to only his conscience!
That's why I laugh at people hoping on an individual to turn things around, when while campaigning, all they promise is how they will revive the economy, do this, do that, and nothing about changing this warped structure we have.
Even if we have a good man as a President who does the right thing for 4 or 8 years, if there's no change in the structure, it's a waste because a Pharaoh who doesn't know Joseph would soon come on board, and we'll be back to where we were in no time.
We should start devolution of power from the center.
The police and her sister agencies should be under the ministry of justice, controlled by the Chief Justice. They are the one saddled with administration of justice, so the Police should directly report to them. This way, our Judiciary won't be toothless bulldogs that they are now.
We can have State Police with this arrangement without the fear of Governors abusing it, because the same thing will be applicable to State Police. The NJC should be solely responsible for choosing and removing the Chief Judge, not the President.
Absolute power corrupts absolutely, and that's exactly what's playing out in Nigeria.

True. And we often ignore the legislature and focus only on electing "credible" individuals to head the executive arm of government.

You are of course right, the system is totally corrupt. But it'll be almost impossible to reform because the fat cats who feed off it will fight to the death to have it stay the same!
What we need most now are political pressure groups to force our legislature to do the right thing.
All over the world, they didn't just become a better by voting for credible candidates. There's none anywhere. Strong institutions force political office holders to do the right thing, not necessarily because they want to.

How do you think these SAN's and judges are extremely wealthy? It's from pay-offs from cases like these. Everyone gets paid off and the defendant gets a slap on the wrist.
Which is why it's only serious and sustained public outcry that can reform the totally corrupt system!
I almost ran mad when the judge gave Maina an option to pay a fine of 750k for stealing 20billion.
I mean, if he had stolen from an individual, what explanation would the Judge give the victim? He/she should just forgo the money and allow the culprit walk away by only paying 750k?
I think the only way we can have a working society is by pushing for judicial reforms, not necessarily pushing for a change of the government at the center. Nigeria can't move forward without some serious reforms, no matter who is the President.
We need a working system, not necessarily a good man as the President.

He will pay N100 million as compensation to the victims of the crime, Yemi Obadeyi and Cambial Limited and N50 million fine on each of the two counts.

What happens to the rest of the money?
7 years is really small
I'm even surprised it's not 100k fine for stealing more than a billion Naira. Case against Maina comes to mind. grin
We need an upgrade to our penal codes such that you'll have to pay the amount stolen with interests, including prison sentence, or in some cases, death sentence, if it can be proven your actions has indirectly lead to demise of people.

FamilyRe: Should I Allow My Mother-in-law In Our Home? I Need Advice by DeOTR: 10:00pm On Mar 29, 2023
ozalogbo:
I am the first child of my mother, and I have two younger male siblings. I am doing well financially. My wife is the last of four children in her family. My dad died when I was still in the university, and this affected my mum.

However, as she aged, her health waned. She was a retired teacher. My brothers are not in the country. Both of them are in Europe. I wanted to have my mother stay with me in her later years because of her health and loneliness but my wife did not want it.

Whenever she was ill and I brought her home to be with us, my wife was usually hostile, especially if my mum had stayed beyond a week. She did not hid her disapproval, and this caused problems in the marriage. People advised that I should send my mum away and pay someone to live with her and take care of her. They said that marriage was between a man and his wife, not between a man, his wife, and his mother. I did and peace returned. Eventually my mum passed on after a few years.

Along the line, my father in law also died. And down the line, my mother in law's health began to deteriorate. We live in the same town. Among my wife's siblings she is the only one doing quite well. Now there are suggestions that the mother should come and live with us so that my wife can give her proper care. I believe that her living with us and seeing her grandchildren will help her. And indeed i have no problem accepting her, but when i remember the treatment my wife gave to my mum, there is a strong revulsion, in fact, anger in me. I shared with a friend, and he advised i forgive my wife, but the revulsion is so strong that i would feel cheated if i agreed.

What do you guys think. She reminded me then that marriage was between a man and his wife only. Shouldn't this also apply to my wife now?
Thunder will fire you if you allow her. In fact, I don't think your mother will forgive you for that. Pay someone to look after your mother in law. Your mother living with you and seeing her grandchildren would have helped her too, but your wife had a different idea.
See, I'm also married. If I am to be in your shoes, I'll never allow my mother in law too. In fact, with the kind of person I am, my wife would never bring such suggestion.
It would be unfair to me and my Mom if you allow her to your home. This is not a matter of forgiving your wife. She never offended you. It's a matter of doing the right thing.
PoliticsPlot To Install Interim Government Is Real, Says DSS by DeOTR(op): 5:52pm On Mar 29, 2023
The Department of State Services (DSS) says it has confirmed a plot “by some key players” to install an interim government and stop Bola Ahmed Tinubu from being inaugurated as president.

In a statement on Wednesday, Peter Afunanya, the public relations officer of the secret police, said: “The Department of State Services (DSS) has identified some key players in the plot for an Interim Government in Nigeria.

“The Service considers the plot, being pursued by these entrenched interests, as not only an aberration but a mischievous way to set aside the constitution and undermine civil rule as well as plunge the country into an avoidable crisis.

“The illegality is totally unacceptable in a democracy and to the peace loving Nigerians. This is even more so that the machination is taking place after the peaceful conduct of the elections in most parts of the country.”

Obi and Atiku have also slept off in public events. I sometimes sleep off in virtual meetings I know I'm not required to speak.
Only people who have straight 8 hours of sleep can afford to stay awake all day long. Even at that, most people still fall asleep, including you, especially after meal.

Okay, I will answer you sincerely.

First, age is very important in every human performance, that's why organizations focus on employing young graduates for certain vital and sensitive positions. That is also why reputable companies spend huge on internship programmes to catch them young.

Haven said that, let's proceed to my next points.

1.) It is an open record that in the history of Nigeria, Peter Obi is the only Nigerian ex Governor that rejected any form of reward or pension or gratuity as an ex Governor, Tinubu despite all the wealth he has amassed for years still receives huge pension package from Lagos State.

In rejecting pension, gratuity and other rewards as Ex Governor, Obi said :

it is unfair, unjust and insensitive as an ex Governor who served the state as the highest office holder with too many privileges while in office to accept gratuity and pension for serving the state for just 4 or 8 years whereas civil servants who served the state in pains, poor salary and rewards for 35 years are being owed gratuities and pensions, he said no his conscience forbids that and he refused to accept any form of pension, gratuity or reward as ex Governor till today, Bola Tinubu still receives huge pension package as Lagos state ex Governor.

No other Nigerian ex Governor has done that.

2.) Peter Obi should be the only popular or possibly the only Nigerian elite or politician to reject crude oil block.

When he was invited for this during Goodluck Jonathan's regime, he said no he doesn't need an oil block, that he is a trader and not an oil business guru, that he doesn't dabble into businesses he doesn't know, that oil business experts should take the offer, make money from crude oil business and come and buy what he sells as a trader grin

What does that tell you? Contentment. Peter Obi is a contented man, he is satisfied with what he has acquired in life. He only wants to serve not really for financial gains.

3.) Peter Obi is the only Nigerian State Governor that refused to borrow money or take loans, did a good number of infrastructures, didn't owe salary when leaving office and still saved billions after investing another billions for the state (whether his investment choice is profitable now or not is another topic entirely, but there is record that he invested for the state).

No other Nigerian Governor leaves billions in savings for his successor, they usually leave debt.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu himself acknowledged this about Obi and he said its because Obi is too stringy, that instead of giving Anambra people the money, he was busy saving it as a stingy man.

4.) Peter Obi is the only Nigerian state Governor that got appointed into Presidential advisory council by the President from an opposition party. Both Obasanjo and Goodluck did appointed him even as a Governor from APGA party because they saw the honesty and incorruptible life he was living.

5.) Peter Obi was the only Nigerian state Governor that insisted that FEC save money for Nigeria while other Governors like Rotimi Amaechi, Fashola and co insisted that the excess crude oil wealth should be shared among the states which made Nigeria broke when oil price fell.

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala the then Minister of Finance and Coordinator of Economy said this in her book.

These are just the few I could remember off hand for now
But when the Organizations you talk about need people with proven records of excellence to head their portfolio, age doesn't matter, Bro.
I'm 38. I just got an offer to work in an A-list commercial bank in Nigeria as a Team Lead ON REFERRAL. All the usual protocols were skipped. The only thing I'm still considering is signing an agreement to stay at least, 2 years.
In positions that requires years and wealth of experience, nobody will be looking for under 25.
Age matters only for entry level jobs and Nigerian Presidency is not one.
