I bet you more challenges will prop up if pushed more. Those are the "stories" I talked about that will enter after an investor buys a truck and s/he will be left holding an empty bag. It gets worse if the investor is in diaspora and waiting for remittance. Many people have been through this hell before.

Anyone who wants to commit money in Nigeria should be willing to relocate full time to dig it out. Otherwise, you will be feeding others with nothing to show on your side. Business owners in Nigeria are wrestling with all manners of principalities to stay afloat, na person wey dey abroad go just sit down and owo dey enter. It ain't easy like that.

I will speak from my business(Trucking) point of view. Not all businesses fail in this accept.
Take for example you invest:
Brand new truck @$54,800(including clearing)
Monthly return after running cost is ₦1.4m equivalent is $2,979
In 1year $2,979x12months= $35,748
In 2years $35,748x24months= $71,496
Therefore in 2years you repatriate $16,696, whiie you have actually recoup your investment another 1year you repatriate $35,748.
Making a total of $52,444 in 3years

For used Truck
@$31,255(including clearing)
Monthly return after running cost is ₦1.2m equivalent is $2,553
In 1year $2,553x12months= $30,638
In 2years $30,638x24months= $61,276
Therefore in 2years you will repatriate $30,021

NB. Breakdown was done with ₦470 to $1

I appreciate. But I have eagle eyes when it comes to finished works. I have seen this thread before. 99% of doors in that picture are all Internet pictures except one or two, which are the usual Nigerian wood doors.

The thread owner even confirmed it. It is for you to select the design of your choice and it would be made. Selecting the design is not the problem but artistically getting it up to the standard displayed in the sample pictures. It is not that our people are not good but they lack the necessary finishing tools, detailing required and the kind of materials used overseas.

There are furniture makers in the same compound with me and several of them have been accused severally of collecting money and never delivered.
One relocated to another place to avoid people coming to look for him, some are not regular and one of them committed suicide last year due to too much debt and shame.
Perhaps the issue of the escrow would be of great help in safeguarding both client and contractor but the fact is online or offline, whoever wants to swindle would do so and continue his business elsewhere if they so wish and there is the advantage that there would be no way for others to be alerted.
Some are quick to come here to remind everyone why the forum is not reliable and they not having intention of giving patronage to the professionals but are quick to come and seek solution and find it reliable from the forum with unreliable people.

However, history has proven to us that period of crisis are often when structural changes accelerate.
The demand for oil is already slowing down before covid and the pandemic seems to have pushed it into a new era. For example, FGN can no longer subsidies fuel, electricity.

Some things will definitely remain the same for a while especially now that activities are resuming (Dangote Refinery, Targa, Marathon and the likes) but investors must be prepared for a flatter growth outlook post-covid.

Ton is a measure of mass of a substance. Volume is a measure of space occupied by a substance.
The pictures showed that 30tons of sand and granite occupies same volume which is not possible.
30 tons of sand will occupy about 19 cubic meters or 19,000 ltrs of space (19 pcs of 1000 ltrs water tank).
30 tons of granite will occupy about 11 cubic meters or 11pcs of 1,000 ltrs of water tank).
So if thesame truck is bringing you equal volumes of sand and granite as 30tons, then the supplier is a cheat. 30 tons of sand is more than 30 tons of granite as seen by the naked eye.

I have seen someone who used wrought iron pipe with 14 guage pan front and back. That door is a heavy as eh.
Another one use 6mm pan and U channel instead of 3by1½ pipes. This door na four people load am for motor.

That your door is a cheap something and going out of model. The attached picture is my painter working last Sunday

I just got this picture from an iron dealer in Onitsha. The price of this go buy at least three doors and we're just talking about the pan alone oh. Let's say you decide to pair it with wrought pipe and frame it with at least 16mm pan because of the weight. At the back will be translucent glass or another pan. We're looking at upwards of 90,000. But one thing is that it will last longer than any foreign door you know about that costs less than 500,000
