APT! principalities and so called village people won't let one succeed ... Insurance companies that almost won't pay out unless you are paying them large and excessive premiums...our country is just upside down.. Kudos to everyone that is pushing hard....more oil to engine....
InvertedHammer: / We are saying the same thing but in a different way. Just a little prodding and logistic problems which you never mentioned in your previous post surfaced. I bet you more challenges will prop up if pushed more. Those are the "stories" I talked about that will enter after an investor buys a truck and s/he will be left holding an empty bag. It gets worse if the investor is in diaspora and waiting for remittance. Many people have been through this hell before.
Anyone who wants to commit money in Nigeria should be willing to relocate full time to dig it out. Otherwise, you will be feeding others with nothing to show on your side. Business owners in Nigeria are wrestling with all manners of principalities to stay afloat, na person wey dey abroad go just sit down and owo dey enter. It ain't easy like that.
Sounds fantastic on paper...until reality hits hard...was born in trucking business...something i grew up before I packed my bags for greener pastures elsewhere...still ongoing in family although now company haulage only.. Until they need engine rebuild....get into accident/s...hit someone....rainy season which are normally off peak periods... falls off ditch.....there are quite alot unfortunate circumstances which comes with all business...biggest hurdles are Government policies can change any day without any consultation.....
Chekitaut: Repatriating I will speak from my business(Trucking) point of view. Not all businesses fail in this accept. Take for example you invest: Brand new truck @$54,800(including clearing) Monthly return after running cost is ₦1.4m equivalent is $2,979 In 1year $2,979x12months= $35,748 In 2years $35,748x24months= $71,496 Therefore in 2years you repatriate $16,696, whiie you have actually recoup your investment another 1year you repatriate $35,748. Making a total of $52,444 in 3years
For used Truck @$31,255(including clearing) Monthly return after running cost is ₦1.2m equivalent is $2,553 In 1year $2,553x12months= $30,638 In 2years $30,638x24months= $61,276 Therefore in 2years you will repatriate $30,021
Nice attempt?? Not exactly sure what that means or what you are insinuating...
Since you have seen the thread he never made any claims he made door but only offering to make replication with guarantees ...
Focusmind: I appreciate. But I have eagle eyes when it comes to finished works. I have seen this thread before. 99% of doors in that picture are all Internet pictures except one or two, which are the usual Nigerian wood doors.
The thread owner even confirmed it. It is for you to select the design of your choice and it would be made. Selecting the design is not the problem but artistically getting it up to the standard displayed in the sample pictures. It is not that our people are not good but they lack the necessary finishing tools, detailing required and the kind of materials used overseas.
Nice attempt. I know Dubemcapital anyway, the owner of the thread. He is a well known builder on Nairaland.
Some companies have their dumpsites in port Harcourt while quarry is located in netim calabar...even crushed rock have dump site at eleme...they sell from eleme same as a Chinese company i don't remember their name...
Chekitaut: Port-Harcourt pick Granite from Calabar no Quarry in PH.
Transportation cost from Calabar is over 170k for 30tons
Man i have followed alot of your comments in forum...you have always be apt and such a gentleman...always said the truth without mincing word...what's your brand ...I owe a mortuary standard..
The bolded comments...I have seen long time members in this forum who time to time try to make this forum less reliable but they are here everyday....surprises me...
gbadexy: There are furniture makers in the same compound with me and several of them have been accused severally of collecting money and never delivered. One relocated to another place to avoid people coming to look for him, some are not regular and one of them committed suicide last year due to too much debt and shame. Perhaps the issue of the escrow would be of great help in safeguarding both client and contractor but the fact is online or offline, whoever wants to swindle would do so and continue his business elsewhere if they so wish and there is the advantage that there would be no way for others to be alerted. Some are quick to come here to remind everyone why the forum is not reliable and they not having intention of giving patronage to the professionals but are quick to come and seek solution and find it reliable from the forum with unreliable people. I'm sure hajj would have done some background consultations about the denis issue. People do behind the scene moves here without coming to announce. We all have our shortcomings and should strive to make conscious efforts to curtail them when pointed out to us. I noticed deniss always emphasis on respect and feels easily slighted. The person giving you job is your oga for the duration of the job and deserves same respect even after the job to show appreciation. There's also the added benefit of more referrals. Sir doesn't take anything from me. Expecting it is inconsequential also as I can't use it to pay bills.
GoodFaith: This so call protest Damaging government properties Who are going to benefit from this damaged government properties? People in power their family and friends will get the contract to re build You just made the people you are protecting against richer
Dont do that....genuine protesters didn't do that....why so insensitive?? Lives were lost ....innocent people were murdered and injured in cold blood....majority of those people were there for you, me themselves....offcourse opportunists and those against protesting and thugs will always damage properties and spin....please let's be guided....the looting and burning them things are regrettable....
omanzo02: They have gone very far ahead technologically, every move is always about more job creation for more welders, builders, technicians, transportation, materials dealers etc, that's why there's job after school and school dropout alike. Every year the always find ways to expand to accommodate more people.
These are common practices in the west....may not be feasible for small naija builders...additional cost of hiring cranes or lifts ...celsa steel very popular in Scandinavian region
Being busy does not connotate viable...all those airports are making loses...huge intrest on loans used to build them....they generate lower than its operating cost and overhead....
Ngorbungor: you see you life? have you been to Anambra state before? that's what you guys said the other day about airport in South East as not viable, but FAAN Said otherwise, lagos, Abuja, PH, Owerri, Kano and Eungu are top six busiest airport in Nigeria, meaning southeast has 3
mufutau55: Thank you.. now I got it. I have heard about those "legal marijuana" shops o. Never tried that... so out of my area. Thank you for the lecture sha... now I know where to hangout.
Man....you have got good taste...This is NICEEE...
valencia2012: Following the successful mission to my village site by Michlins and our extensive WhatsApp chats, there are two factors that would determine the kickoff of the job. 1. Quotations 2. Re-scheduled date/approval of my vacation. While I prefer to be on ground for the job, I could initiate the preliminary stages as soon as the above factors are done with. Kudos too to Michlins whose dedication and commitment to what he does best made his PR look like a child's play. The pics as shown in 1,2,3 are part of our chats so far. I'll keep trending as we proceed.
fabiano09: lol ,you have to be there when they open the container ,try to always find out when your stuff arrives and be there live! I ship stuffs too,but not cars,I always make sure I'm there when they offload
Man read before you respond...roro has nothing to do with container.not every one is available the moment their goods are unloaded
amdman: We will be using Grimaldi and they have a better record at protecting cars in their care
Until it gets to Nigeria...ports rats will show you pepper....those guys are mean...my car was embezzled just a month...used Grimaldi Hamburg to lagos...even with so called cameras....rats stole stuffs from my car. Unless nothing is inside the car...they steal even extra tyres like winter tyres....
yeah partial reading.....start off demeaning and end off with an addendum and call it partial reading .....i dont normally eat BUT sometimes i do take breakfast and lunch....
radautoworks: I swear to God I'm tired of NL and partial reading. "Even then they may still collude but if he's lucky like we've been, as long as some are good and loyal, the rest will watch their step."
this is condescending per say ..so you mean in essence there are no longer loyal staffs anymore .nigerian ecosystem irrespective how bad it is cannot produce just one honest worker/assistant ? not even a family member ..nawoo
radautoworks: He has all amdman's contacts and strategy. All he needs is to demand upfront payment. To everyone who said "just hire an assistant", If you've ever owned a business you will know especially in this kind of setup, that is the beginning of the end. For quality control, he needs to handle it all himself until he can hire multiple people as checks and balances against each other. Even then they may still collude but if he's lucky like we've been, as long as some are good and loyal, the rest will watch their step.
The cheap one you are selling are they wrought iron?...does wrought iron come in sheets Or just the bars..you keep saying this to fool those that don't know..Man I dont want do this again....let me exit again and lay low like I have always done...Goodluck
michlins: your doors are outdated in terms of design and I stand by my statement. The future of my work is wrought. I know some day, wrought will be old design but until then.....
There are no much difference between a 0,45 and 0,55mm other 10mm thickness..faulty corrugating machine can make difference...i guess you have to worry about that more especially on metcop...maybe on steptiles as well...this is where company matters....buying from known companies or amateur...
Muyi002: Bros, please could you explain better. I beg
Wait a sec... are you not same guy here on spyders thread below...telling me that my door to my kobo kobo house is cheap and dated while I and oga kopell were pointing out that laser machines and newer technology in your line work would improve prices and that over spending and overkill doesn't mean quality....
so you are also selling cheap doors now ...this life self ehh.
So I am not the only one who wants functionality...if it is cheap why not...
michlins: if you have 40,000 you wish to spend on a single door, here's how you can get it.
1.5mm 3by1½
14 guage plain pan
16mm pan for frame
1.5mm ¾ square pipe
Foreign hinges and bolt
Anti rust will come first before normal painting
I don't see your local welder doing the bolded at all
Give me a chance to make at least one sample for you. If I fail to impress you, take your business elsewhere. If I impress you, let me do the rest at the place of your choosing.
Dont take my word sir....but why do you want 0,55mm steptiles?? This is really unnecessary...0,45mm would do the job jeje...residential buildings like this 0,45mm aluminum sheets are just enough for it..obviously its your build and money...you can spend however you want...just my 1kobo comment ...welldone
A contractor on nairaland has proposed 2200 per sqm for 0.55. However I am seeing another person who will purchase from Lagos at 2000. What I have is a total of 400sqm
I am doing my findings carefully.
Below are my calculations Aluminium -Step tiles from Lagos General 0.55mm = 400sqm @ 2200/ 2000= 880000/800000 Ridge Cap = 70 metres @ 800 = 48000 Gutter Valley = 10 metres @ 800 = 8000 Parafet = 6 metres @ 800 = 4800 Nails and other accessories = 25000 White 11/32 = 3 lengths @ 1000 = 3000 Transport = 50000
They all know...The rich guys pay heavily to financial planner or investment planners.., they pay people to for see things .the breaking point lies always should we go ahead now or not .off course oil prices were tanking before Covid due opec crisis and many new players with too much oil . again Americans have not been dropping alot lately on those countries...go big or go home ..i wont say a word about subsidy fraud...
all our systems are just way overboard.. just yesterday i had four different government agencies queuing up inside my house .for what exactly borehole drilling .
However, history has proven to us that period of crisis are often when structural changes accelerate. The demand for oil is already slowing down before covid and the pandemic seems to have pushed it into a new era. For example, FGN can no longer subsidies fuel, electricity.
Some things will definitely remain the same for a while especially now that activities are resuming (Dangote Refinery, Targa, Marathon and the likes) but investors must be prepared for a flatter growth outlook post-covid.
A combination of weaker economies, changes in consumer behaviour, and government policies could/may put a brake on oil consumption for many years.
while solar and wind sources are here and the future but huge investment is needed . femi otedola already DE-invested in oil and investing in power energy.again america do have many functional refineries...Targa Resources just built new one in Texas...even Marathon Oil in Garyville, Louisiana. building brand new to add to their existing capacity ...dont forget the Dakota access pipelines ...even with huge disruptions..it is still oil ...investment and leaders with foresight .
While Elon Musk is disrupting the ecosystem with solar roofs, electric cars and hyperloop, Dangote is building another refinery.
The future started yesterday and we are already late. The days of brick and mortar is long gone but here we are stucked with vernacular architecture.
____ A couple of diasporans are doing great already tho. The solar market is performing well with lots of new entrants into the market. I cannot but commend the Greenlight Planet’s customer service team.
Pic 1&2: SunKing Home 120 Energy Hub provides solar power in off-grid homes and emergency situations. Beside my generator, inverter and solar system, I kept one of this for emergency situations.
oil dey your head....i was about to say same..... they are confusing people with truck volumes and quantity . A 30 ton truck is capable of carrying 30 tons not necessary same or equal volumes of sand and granite .payload quantity should be irrelevant since a customers is simply after volume or quantity ..
coldcandy: Let's not be confused with the terms tons and volume! Ton is a measure of mass of a substance. Volume is a measure of space occupied by a substance. The pictures showed that 30tons of sand and granite occupies same volume which is not possible. 30 tons of sand will occupy about 19 cubic meters or 19,000 ltrs of space (19 pcs of 1000 ltrs water tank). 30 tons of granite will occupy about 11 cubic meters or 11pcs of 1,000 ltrs of water tank). So if thesame truck is bringing you equal volumes of sand and granite as 30tons, then the supplier is a cheat. 30 tons of sand is more than 30 tons of granite as seen by the naked eye.
You are absolutely nuts...offcourse my door is cheap.but it works for me...i wrote this before..can you not read or what ?? ..every man to their pockets right.... Haha...imagine this okpo....are you here to exchange words or look for jobs?...when you save enough to build a house spend all the money on the only the door.... my door is locked and secured and i like it like that....let me get back to what i am doing before now....dont quote me anymore it would derail this thread unnecessarily..now bye
michlins: hehehehehehehe. You don't know what's going on bro
I have seen someone who used wrought iron pipe with 14 guage pan front and back. That door is a heavy as eh. Another one use 6mm pan and U channel instead of 3by1½ pipes. This door na four people load am for motor.
That your door is a cheap something and going out of model. The attached picture is my painter working last Sunday
What is your point Already made my point clear...people know things so you know not just you..not sure why you still lingering on this?? While people depending in their pockets chooses whatever they want...one man's food is another man's poison...i dont fancy this at all... would be too heavy as prison gate....this is what i used for my house below...it works for me...cheers
michlins: I just got this picture from an iron dealer in Onitsha. The price of this go buy at least three doors and we're just talking about the pan alone oh. Let's say you decide to pair it with wrought pipe and frame it with at least 16mm pan because of the weight. At the back will be translucent glass or another pan. We're looking at upwards of 90,000. But one thing is that it will last longer than any foreign door you know about that costs less than 500,000
