PoliticsRe: The Rawls Centre Laments High Cost Of Petrol In Bayelsa by doofanc: 4:09am On Apr 12, 2012
Jojo Armani: Am not an ijaw man but i know very well that ijaw people has been paying high in fuel price even wen OBJ is president. Reason cus their land is covers wit river, so means of transporting petrol is high there. Even in so some villages in other states dat has bad roads and no fillin station dat buy from black market buy at high price too. Is not because they did not support subsidy protest, they were even buying 160 to 200 b4 the subsidy removal. Those people re really suffering. Riverine areas Na wa o o o. Everything is high except Fish and cryfish.
fine. Your point is taken. But the argument here is that if the former price of N65 was retained, do you think the bayelsans would be paying as high as the 300/litre as is now alleged?

One would have expected that they, knowing fully well what impact a price increase would have on them would be more vociferous, more than any other group as a matter of fact, in their opposition to the subsidy removal..

However for reasons best known to them, which some have justifyably attributed to noting other than blind support 4 their 'son', they chose to abstain from the protest.

nuclearboy: ^ dull is an understatement for this waste of skin!

You bought at 150 when it was 65. Doesn't that tell your empty skull that you will buy at 250now it is 100?

most of those settlements already have their well armed vigilante groups, so i must say i will be suprised if those attackers are able to carry out their acts without a stiff opposition.

Title of ur post is an irresponsible attempt to stoke up quarrels and fights unnecessarily. Ur mis-titling has nothing to do wt d body of d story.

@ Moderator,

Pls discard this thread.
Op is clearly on some cheap weed.

The mods will do well to modify the title.

PoliticsRe: Reuben Abati's Response To Otuoke Community Church Gift To GEJ by doofanc: 9:12am On Apr 06, 2012
Lets face it, our dear GEJ, notorious for his 'foot-in-mouth moments' has done it again. He obviously was not aware that a seemingly innocuous commendation (solicitation??) of what is now frantically being labelled CSR would degenerate into the furor it has become.

Impeachment? Haba, thats too far imo. btw do we really believe the PDP dominated house is going to heed the call for his impechment?

Its however instructive to note this incident has clearly rattled the presidency and perhaps would compel it to exercise better discretion in future. But with our dear GEJ. . .

EducationRe: How Did Jamb Manage To Release Results In 3 Days by doofanc: 3:56am On Apr 05, 2012
The sheets are optically marked by computer which i believe only takes a few seconds/ paper.

However when one considers the time taken to transport the scripts from the various exam venues to the jamb centres where such machines are available, then grading, compiling and finally uploading on the servers, it becomes easy to see why some people may express some skeptism.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Would Be Better If? by doofanc: 4:20am On Apr 04, 2012
purefella: Stop voting PDP!
lol! This will be a good start.

But lets face it, our present problems are far more complex than what a simple party change can correct.

Like i said in my previous post, it has to do with the very system of govt we are practising. It's too expensive, too structurally deficient, too corruption prone, too much centre power. . .i could go on and on.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Would Be Better If? by doofanc: 4:08am On Apr 04, 2012
engineerd: Lets all be honest. Nigeria is what it is today because of the people that inhabit it.
actually because of the people who ruled it.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Would Be Better If? by doofanc: 9:34pm On Apr 03, 2012
When we stop deceiving ourselves that our particular brand of democracy will provide the much needed dividends.

I'm not by any means advocating a miltary takeover. We just have to come up with something else; a less corruption prone system of govt.

Lol! That is one pissed judge.

But come to think of it, if not one, not two, not three, but FIVE bleeping SANs could be reprimanded like law school dropouts for "lack of diligent prosecution'', then it says a lot about the state of legal practise in the country.
PoliticsRe: Would It Surprise You That The US Produces More Oil Than Nigeria? by doofanc: 10:34pm On Apr 02, 2012
Nwa_Nimo: You think they are stupid . . . . . . has Nigeria ever heard of reserves.

These clever oyibo people purchase a lot of oil just to hold in storage.

Trust me when I sat one day, we'll be buying oil from them - once we've run out and the price of a barrell is like $700.
you make it sound like there's a conspiracy or something. I personally don't believe so. I see it as purely economic.

Like someone said environmental groups in the US wield considerable leverage and can, at the moment anyway, effectively halt any attempt at exploration. The current oil prices, which are still not too bad, and the recent Bp spill gives the group their power. Eventually, however, the price of oil will become so high that the incentive for further exploration will be too irresistable that even the pressure groups will not be able to influence. T

BusinessRe: Businesses You Regretted Doing & The Ones You're Glad You Tried by doofanc: 5:34pm On Apr 02, 2012
publisher: In 2009,while still working in a private financial institution,i launched my own magazine. Invested over N2m on the project, hired some old classmates to run it for me...well as expected, they ran it aground. I even lost my rented office space ,cos the landlady went psychotic on rents.
After i resigned from paid employment early 2010,i moved into my media bizness full time. I'm a trained brand innovator and copywriter. I sacked ALL my staff(5 of em) retaining only my PA. We are into advertising; creation/production of tv commercials, radio jingles and newspaper ads. It's a terrible industry cos most big Nigerian companies already have established ad agencies, others prefer to use foreign South African ad agencies. When they give independents like us an opportunity to pitch an ad,they complain that our idea is good but too expensive. But when a white South African team presents a silly ad pitch,to be shot in Cape town, ten times more expensive than ours, the big Nigerian companies jump at it. Thats why most so called quality tv ads aired in nigeria are shot in South Africa or Kenya, they use mainly zimbabwean cast cos their accent is similar to ours. They go a step further to teach them pidgin and clothe them with Nigerian attires just to create a Nigerian setting. Ref: Airtel 'IK' 10/10, Golden Penny, Etisalat, Indomine(mama too good),Blueband, Cowbell and so on.
Luckily,i've landed a decent ad deal with an upcoming food seasoning company,to be honest i only got the break cos the chairman of the coy is my 'towns man'. Positive tribalism i guess!
I love advertising, especially tv ads,i watch many foreign tv stations just to see their ads. But unfortunately 90 percent of tv ads aired on Nigerian tv can be very irritating, the 'descent' ones are SA productions.
I'ld like to change that and make Nigerian tv ads more Nigerian, more creative and more entertaining.
Advertising is a passion driven creative industry,it's also very frustrating for independent agencies like mine and u could go months, even years without a single client. But ONE serious client can change ur life forever, especially if ur Ads affects ur clients turnover positively.
Well,that's my story. Nice thread.
intriguing story. I've often wondered about the unusual accents of d characters in those adverts..
BusinessRe: "Cashless" Lagos: How Are You Coping With It? by doofanc: 5:21pm On Apr 02, 2012
So far so good, i think its been pretty good.

@OP, a trader with a DAILY turnover of over 150k cannot be, in my view, deemed 'petty'. He/she should be able to invest in equipment to facilitate the cashless transactions.
EducationRe: Is Your JAMB 2012/2013 Score What You Expected? by doofanc: 9:48pm On Apr 01, 2012
uceee: Seriously, Jamb did not mark the scripts this year. They just shared scores to people. Just watch the trend: The maximum range (difference between highest and lowest scores in the subjects you took) for the results is 10. Then most people have the same scores in two subjects. Is that realistic? Mind you, I work in a cyber cafe, so I have seen a lot of results.
interesting
