sad but very true. Even more lamentable is the staggering dimensions it has assumed. Its all billions we hear now. Millions evidently have ceased to suffice for these insatiable kleptomaniacs.

God help us. :-(

PoliticsRe: What If There Is No Oil In Nigeria ? by doofanc: 11:25pm On May 27, 2012
Like many analysts have posited before now, oil in Nigeria has been an unmitigated curse on us, which means lack of oil, by implication will be a blessing.

I belive our problem with oil has to do with the concentration of power at Abuja. That mad, almost psychotic craze for political power, and mouth watering perks that come with it, courtesy of the unrestrained access to petro-dollars, would not be existing. A weak centre would be unattractive for potential opportunists

Like someone said, there certainly will be no unproductive 36 states with weighty baggage of political jobbers and indefensable overhead costs. The few states that will be in existence will have look inwards for ways to sustain themselves which would encourage development of agricultural, agro-allied and extractive industries as the case may be.

Oil itself may not necessarily be a curse, as other countries have shown, but in our case, Nigeria, it is and perhaps will always be.

GboyegaD: No employer has right to ask you such question as that is too personal. If you ask me, I will politely tell you I do not respond to such question because it is too personal.
don't be too sure o! in fact i'm tempted to beleive its a standard question by employers based on the number of females i've come across who've been asked such. Even my own sister when she went for interview with first bank, despite the fact she was just in her mid twenties was asked the question. She simply said it was not her time yet and that ended it. (she didn't get the job -- though i den't think it was due to that question, lol!).

To be honest though, I dont think, at least based on the nature of the job, that its necessarily too personal a question as long as all further enquiries in that direction ends with a simple answer from the lady -- however unacceptable to the interviewer it may be.. If however the lady is continuously badgered with the same or even more personal questions, then that clearly crosses the line and could indeed, esp if a male interviewer, be tending towards harassment.

rexfada: Bro i just got a call from the MD of the company informing me of success and also congratulating me. But the pay (according to what they told me in the interview) is 38k, so am considering not taking the offer now. I dont know whether to continue with my cisco and leave the job (though i can still carry on while doing the job) or to just take the offer. 38k in port-harcourt no much o.
na wa o! 38k in a notoriously expensive place like PH? But since, as you say, you were told about the pay package of job during the interview and still decided to pursue it, i'm guessing your present cisco job isn't a much better alternative, abi?

Whatever the case, i'll suggest you make a very careful analysis of the offer and its location before committing yourself. All the best.

And very soon it will, then our eye go clear.
PoliticsRe: NNPC: "Oil Thieves Have Hijacked Political Power!" by doofanc: 6:48pm On May 26, 2012
Sisi kill you do well.. Initially i found the attack by the PDP goons against Gbawe rather amusing, but now it has taken an idi.otic, inferiority complex induced, vicious twist, and is becoming nauseatingly infantile.

So Gbawe mentioned Mr president in just two posts, how did that prevent Dr aletia from achieving his e.rection? I'm sorry, but i was of the opinion that GEJ was the PRESIDENT OF THIS COUNTRY? Would it not have been better for aletia to counter his argument rather than set the stage for his minions to move in by deftly shifting the focus of the thread from to NNPC to ''operation attack Gbawe?'' And move the minions did, predictably.

Just for the records i dont know gbawe from Adam, heck, i've found some his comments rather distasteful. But for quite number them, his deep knowledge of contemporary political issues has been truely refreshing.

The anti-Gbawe squad had better sought more fruitful ways of achieving their much desired (yet lamentably elusive) hard ons.

deeplow: Have you noticed that things have changed since the time you were paid 9k plus.transport fare is double.a Congo of rice is not the same amount it used to be early last year e.t.c.kudos to you people tho.I was paid d 9k in my 1st 3months of service,it was hell.d 19k doesn't make it heaven tho.before u subscribe for BIS(1,500),recharge card for calls a month(approx 2,500-3,000),transportation(my own experience, like 3k a month),Rice like 3congos a month(approx 1,000),Beans,gari,palm oil, groundnut oil,yam,plantain,salt,sugar,tea,milk.e.t.c(considering that u would av to refill, like 6,000 minimum),a kilo of chicken( like 3 times a month approx 2,000).that is just to say the ones I remember o.please, tell me how one can save.lest I forget,I paid #1,200 for Nepa and vigilante people every month.
my guy, pls get me right. I fully understand challenges the average corper must be passing through (having been one in the not too distant past, i should know). And FG not paying thier allowee is simply wicked and callous.

perhaps i was a bit unfair in my earlier generalization, it was borne out of the contact i've had with a number of them.

I still insist, however, that for some of them, its a matter of unjustifyably living beyond tier means.. Take for instance the items i bolded in your quote above: 1,500 for BIS, 3K for calls, 2k for chicken?? As a copper, one does not have the luxury to indulge as one wants. Its essentially a period for roughing it out, stripping oneself of frivolities and basically just trying to keep body and soul together.. God helping them, there will be time for all of the goodies of life, but NOT during service year.

I happen to have some of them at my organisation and wonder where they get the money to do all they do. ladies want to have the latest hairstyle, latest bags, shoes, eating at choice eateries, the guys must shayo every bleeping night!
AutosRe: Make Sure You Inspect Vehicles Before You Buy Them by doofanc: 11:02pm On May 15, 2012
@op, i truly sympathize with your unfortunate experience.

NONETHELESS, sir, i have to say, with due respect, you will have to take close to 60% of the blame. I'm finding it very hard to understand the level of trust you'll have for a person you met on a faceless forum that would compel you to part with a whooping N2m without physically inspecting the car?? moreso when the its not brand new or even direct tokshuh?

no matter how busy you claim you were, you would have, at the very least, gotten a trusted mechanic to help inspect the car since you wouldn't be able to go there yourself.

Anyway the deed has been done, but it will be interesting to hear what the dealer in question has to say.

grafikii: Govt no pay NYSC allawie. Some Babes hair don dey smell, BIS don expire, food stuff don finish.
So youth copper still dey subscribe BIShuh? No wonder they are already broke.

During my time i was owed almost 2 months salary, but i didnt make all the noise these guys are making. Then it was even a measly 9700 we were receiving.

This may sound harsh, but the fact is many of those young lads just want to form big boy/girl & end up living beyond their means.

Even on NL that same nerve racking, insufferable insolence for which his type have become known for reeks through virtually every word in OP's post

you spent 20years in school so we no go hia word again?

you pay school fees for your children, electricity bills and other utilities? NO KIDDING. I guess the other thousands of Lagos workers who pay at EXACTLY THE SAME rate but earn FAR, FAR less than you ungrateful lot must be privileged beneficiaries of some sort of behind the scenes subsidy program.

Geez! The blatant insolence of it!

You actually came here looking for sympathy? For what? That the young, just graduated HO earns almost TEN P-H-O-C-K-I-N-G times what the average Nigerian worker takes home?

Dem force una to read medicine?

Nonsense!
