Easimoni
Thank you easimoni. Now to the second parto f the question, for someone with about 50k loose cash NOW, what stock do you suggest he inevst in for shortest time gains(say 2 months). He's ready to take risks
Ol boy, I side-stepped that question for a good reason grin. As I'm not buying in this heated environment, can't tell anyone to go buy in good faith. Will only recommend what I own or really believe in. Now is the time to hold on to our cash. People must sell for xmas money and Zenith offer next month. THEN, we buy.

Am I the only one who saw the C&I Leasing result? huh huh huh

Is it time to become a growth investor and just KILL this stock? Ki lo de? I know they have 1.6B shares and forward EPS is only 25k (forward PE is 23) , but what will the forward EPS/PE be if the coy keeps growing PAT at 200% p.a? Can they keep growing? I know some peeps brought it up and I said it wasn't time but hmmmmmm.

When do you think I should keep holding my GTB tohuh?? I fear-oh
Hold your GTB stubbornly till you see the FY results in about 6 months. GTB make 40+% of it's PAT in the 4Q! If you sell and the price drops, people like me will be dancing in 6 months o! grin tongue Go look at it's history, GTB half-year NEVER projects well.

May I humbly ask how you knew that Access was about to move upwards, even without the results been released?
Now were you acting based on news, or the movement of related stocks, or a brokers tip etc. I just want to know how you picked the timing and such so I can apply said strategy to other stocks, Thanks in advance.
I bought some on Monday too. I did it because Access seemed to have dropped to<18 with no good reason so a rebound was likely. Still interested in knowing why Fatherof2 was so confident about it though! Doesn't mean I now support the 25% strategy. tongue
Agreed! Based on the strength of its H2 results vis-a-vis its current price, GTB is quite expensive now!

With H2 PAT of N7.5b and o/s shares of 13.85b (H2 EPS - 0.54), by the time u annualise this eps, GTB's fair value should be around N27 huh huh
All those disappointed by GTBank; last fiscal year, GTB posted 43% of it's earnings in the 4Q! 45% the year B4. Sure these results don't project well but I think GTB is guilty of conservative accounting and should still meet the 19 - 20B most of us are expecting. That said, I don't have any in my 'folio but if the market drops it to the 20s, I'm going to get some. If you own for the long-term, no fear. Me thinks they still make 20B at FY.

u still did not answer the question ,,,i wanted to know if a stock is placed on technical suspension, does it mean that the stock can only be sold if another client of your own stockbroking firm wants to buy it or if it can still be sold if another person from a different broker wants to buy the stock
No vex. It can be bought and sold like any other stock by any broker. But again, it's going to be v. difficult to sell.

Also how is the closing price determined, because i know people buy a particular stock at differnt prices in a day though not exceeding 5%, but how is the closing price determined?
The closing price is determine solely by the last deal that was completed that day, even if that deal was only for 1 share.
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by easimoni(m): 8:08pm On Nov 22, 2007
Capuchi,
are you still trying to sell your Wema? grin tongue. Once a coy goes on TS, the whole world will be looking to sell. No one likes watching money tied up. Besides, if someone believes in the coy, why not buy the PO/rights at a discount to the current price?

Bottom line is Wema is on net offer (interpretation: much more sellers than buyers). Even though you see 2 m shares change hands in one day, I've heard estimates that 150M shares are being offered, your brokers chance of selling your shares is like 1 in 1000. Bottom line is if you wanted to sell your Wema, you should not have waited to see it go on TS. Once you are stuck on TS, it's going to be nearly impossible to sell.

Tough, isn't it? Even I still have ~20+ of my 'folio in Wema.

Huh? I'm a Man U fan and even I'll admit JM is a world top-10 coach. He won the CL with Porto, an FA cup and 2 EPL titles. All in four seasons. Has coached and developed world class players. JM is the man for the job.

Ah ah! Tonyjon! Na u dey talk like this? You dey read this thread everyday. A bunch of us are sitting on a ton of cash (30% of my 'folio). Now is a classic bullish/sellers market. Not a good time to buy. If the run continues, we'll all be whining by xmas about how we missed making some money or (if the bears come back) we will be whining about how we bought over-priced shares. My bet is on the latter so I'm holding off further buying till the heat subsides a little. Paraphrasing Wanaj0: "It's not illegal to keep your money".

Sometimes i shudder at the duplicity and hypocrisy exhibited by Nigerians.
When someone made an unsubstantiated (turned out to be false!) accusation against Oprah, we had many pages of Naija people abusing her and her family tree.
Now someone provides a story on a nigerian celebrity and suddenly we hear the voice of caution. Nice.
So true, I feel you on this. He should be suspended from his job pending investigation. Once u put yourself out there, the standards must be higher. Or are his employers saying wife-beaters are welcome to represent them? And to the interviewer asking about wives being submissive, he should read the verse that comes right before that one.

Hi Temmie10 and Easimoni
Hope i would be allowed to deviate a bit from the heat of the moment(crusader and Mbenefit) results
i would like to know what you both think of BETA GLASS and IKEJA HOTEL I HAVE ASKED THIS QUESTION LIKE 3 TIMES TODAY, I DEY BEG MAKE UNA ANSWER ME
2 weeks ago, pumping and I screamed Ikeja hotels when it was in free fall. now it's gained for ~7 straight days. With a forward EPS of ~35k (and not much earnings growth), I'd say today's price of almost N5 (forward PE of 14) is fair. Not much upside so you may want to look elsewhere. Not much of a chance they'll beat the 35k forecast either. I recommended it 2 weeks ago. Today? Most of the upside has gone. I plan on selling if it gains the next 2 days (forward PE will start approaching 16)

Beta Glass is one of Shigidi's flavor of the month. If I remember clearly, the forward PE is ~10 and it's been "immune" from the bullish run the past week. I'd say it's the better of the two based on today's prices.

Happy hunting.

Might be a good strategy to bail out now and get back in during 1Q. Besides, they'd be crazy to compete with Zenith.

I tire o.

@easimoni, did you confirm this?
Don't need to. Unaudited results DON'T come out at FY. They must be audited. It's a 9 month result for sure. Besides Ins Coys all have Dec YEs.
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by easimoni(m): 6:53pm On Nov 21, 2007
@ Yodi and Pumping,
Crusader's YE is in December as are ALL Ins coys. It's a 9 month result and these brokers/websites need to be flogged for making such basic errors. Crusader DID lose money in the 3rd Q. As pumping said, likely due to a major claim. don't think they can pass N1B at the FY now. I'm out. Out of M Benefits as well.

Wetin person go come buy now?

this is not encouraging in the least fellas
Not a chance that they make 500M in 4Q. This stock just dropped WWWAAAAYYY down on my list!

as per Cadbury, remember they had a fraud issue last year and the share prices took a serious hit.
Everyone has been waiting for the results to actually see how bad things are. From the look of it they have tidied up their stuff and made profit so far this year . Kudos to them.
Based on the 3rd quarter result, buying at N33 is a cheap price - if you get it !!!
Nope! Cadbury is declaring losses O! They have not yet turned it around. Check Nsepro.com for results.

AK, u are right. The so-called FY 07 is less than the 6 month result. I don't know what is going on but it sure is confusing. This is surely the 9 month result and NOT the FY. Even so, it sure is disappointing.

BTW, you can find it on nsepro.com

i learnt about trade points from this site

i tried downloading the software and i guess it has been moved or removed.
does any one have more infor on trade points? i like the software.
I took a look at it and it seems to have a lot of promise. Why don't you try emailing them to see what's wrong with the downloading? It's a shame that with the explosion in the NSE, we (or is it I) don't yet have a solid technical trading tool tailored to our needs (e.g, downloading NSE price data)

As much as I want to sit down and look I'm just so restless. I will sell most of any insurance stock that crosses a healthy PE except my Lawunion. Unic and Crusader should be the last ones standing. Unic because of the mark down yesterday that prevented the 5% gain. At the end of this week even if the 5% gain continues, both will still have forward PE less than 20.
Restless is an understatement 4 me. I'm trying so hard to not be trigger happy with my Wema loot. Selling my Ins Coys will only make me more cash heavy. I don't know what to do o. huh tongue

i have been trying to sell my 300,000 units of wema bank since it was placed on technical suspension, but my roker has been unable to sell any of the units even though it has been trading averagely of over 1 million units daily since the TS, ANY REASON WHY THEY CAN'T SELL?
They can't sell because 150M units were offered for sale. Why are u trying to sell? because it's on TS? Sorry to break it to u, but so are tons of other people. and who would want to but a stock that can't move for 3 months? You should try to move a stock b4 it goes on TS. It's hard to do but I warned everyone and my prediction was only a day early. You may have no choice but to wait it out.

@ pumping777, i have not entered beta glass yet, its not liquid and thats my problem, i wish to enter access and will hope to enter beta glass ASAP. if crusader hits 6, i am selling, there is no fundamental attahment to this movement northward.
your eps for dang sugar looks accurate but i am of the view that they hi most profit in Q4 so that 2.65 might be just right( i pray so). the moment i enter beta glass i will let u know/
On dangote EPS, are we talking forward or trailing?

On Ins Coys, the released funds will contribute to the bottom line. Some of them will be able to support triple digit growth in 2008 with the additional capital. If so, Crusader will be in double figures in late 08 (sans the stinking PO).
