aginamuk:Blame the police for that. They're the ones who go around harrassing doctors and nurses who are just trying to do their jobs. Even though the courts and more than one IGP have declared this stûpid policy illegal, the police are still enforcing it. People always forget that health workers have themselves and their families to think of. At the end of the day, its just a job. It's not worth entering police wahala twice a week for. |
After he loses this subsidy battle, Jonathan will have practically no credibility left. He's already lost the respect of the national assembly and all well-informed Nigerians and things will only get worse for him. Even those who still like him have to admit that he's a little bit daft. Now that the opposition can sense weakness, they're going to make things far more difficult for him from now on. They'll pick giant holes in everything he tries to do or say. And knowing our president, it won't take much effort to make him look stûpîd. For the next three years Jonathan is going to be the lamest lame-duck president the world has ever seen. |
This bill is just another desperate move by a bunch of obsolete companies to cripple or kill the new innovation that has made them useless. The internet is making the record labels and big media conglomerates irrelevant so they're bribing the pröstitutès in congress to do something about it. It just shows that most US politicians work for corporations who pay for their campaigns and not the people who vote for them. The internet is the future, the media industry needs to adapt or die, that's how progress works. Imagine if the horse-drawn cart industry had managed to get the governement to ban cars 100 years ago. Nonsense! |
honeric01:Sorry if I gave you the impression that I don't think you're intelligent. I actually don't think you are, but regardless, I didn't intend to hurt your feelings. Try and read up more on evolution, not from creationist or christian books/websites but from legit, objective sources or even wikipedia. If there's anything you disagree with or don't understand, then come here and discuss it with an open mind. I'll try not to be too sarcastic. |
Martian:Okay, I can't resist posting this: If human beings were intelligently designed, how do you explain the existence of honeric01? |
honeric01:According to genetic studies, the last common ancestor of chimpanzees and modern humans is believed to have lived 5 to 8 million years ago. The fossils which most closely match the age and expected appearance of this animal are Sahelanthropus tchadensis, Ardipithecus kadabba and Orrorin tugenensis. Now you're making me copy/paste myself! What kind of answer are you expecting by the way? Do you think I'll say some-thing like "my ancestor's name was Chinedu and he lived in Awgu LGA of Enugu state 6 million years ago"? lol, from your fellow "delusionists" right? i am still going to be very civil with you even though i know you don't deserve any lol.By refusing to consider or even read contrary opinions, you are just deepening your ignorance. Science isn't like religion or football. Theres no shame in changing sides if thats where the evidence is leading you. And even if you don't like what the other side is saying, you should at least be able to look at their position with an open mind. You are suffering from a serious case of tunnel-vision. |
Martian:I have to at least try. Besides, someone more sensible might read this later. There's too much ignorance and and misinformation floating around nairaland these days. We need to do whatever we can to raise our national IQ. |
honeric01:I'll give you $1billion dollars if you can show me the site I copied and pasted from. Just because I can spell and speak decent english, you think I must be copying from one oyimbo? Some of us went to good secondary schools. And I already answered your question. It's not my fault if you can't keep up when things get a little technical. |
honeric01:According to genetic studies, the last common ancestor of chimpanzees and modern humans is believed to have lived 5 to 8 million years ago. The fossils which most closely match the age and expected appearance of this animal are Sahelanthropus tchadensis, Ardipithecus kadabba and Orrorin tugenensis. Before the split, the LCA lived in trees and dense forests but some of them spread out into the savanna or costal regions and became isolated from their forest-dwelling cousins. Eventually, they adapted to living on flat land and became the ancestors of the australopithecines, Homo habilis and modern humans. Those who stayed behind in the forest are the ancestors of the chimpanzees, bonobos and a few other extinct species. Why do you ask, by the way? I have this nagging feeling that you are about to say something completely rètarded. **Edited for clarity.** |
honeric01:Humans didn't descend from modern-day apes, that's not what the theory of evolution says. It says humans and apes descended from a common ancestor. We're like cousins. Also, chimpanzees are never going to evolve into humans. Chimpanzees are not "less evolved" than us. They've merely adapted differently to a different environment. They live in dense jungle, an environment where high intelligence is not that useful. Instead, they are expert tree climbers, are far stronger than humans and are extremely fast over short distances. An average human wouldn't survive one week in the Jungles where chimpanzees thrive. Just like chimps don't do so well when taken out of their habitat. You need to get a proper understanding of the theory of evolution before you start criticizing it. Its about survival of the best adapted leading to gradual change over time. Its a really simple concept if you ignore all the disinformation creationists have been spreading. |
Are they going to murder the guy in cold blood like they did his father? The Libyan people had better be careful before they discover that their new boss is the same as the old boss. |
honeric01:Guy, you need to learn how to frame your questions properly to keep from sounding rètarded. For instance, don't ask "why do rivers never overflow their banks except for when they do?" That is an inherently nonsense question. Also what do you mean by "what is holding the sky from falling on the earth?" What is the sky? Do you think it's a blue canopy dangling from a rope or what? Ask me sensible questions and I'll be happy to debate you. That stuff up there is not sensible. |
Uyi Iredia:Reason and logic stem from the human capability for abstract thought and complex tool use. This is an ability that gives us our greatest evolutionary advantage over other species and is the reason why there are 7 billion humans spread across all the continents of the world including Antartica. It is an ability that is present in all the great apes only less well developed. It is a trait that has been strongly selected for throughout history. Modern humans outcompeted Neanderthals partially because of their superior tools. There is archeological evidence of asian tribes overwhelming others due to their superior agricultural techniques. Native Americans with stone age tools were almost wiped out when they ran into Europeans carrying rifles. Humans move into new territory, shoot all the wild animals, cut down the trees and take over. Now when you say Law, I assume that you mean morality ethics. Many assume wrongly that this comes from religion but the truth is that evolution again is responsible. Human beings live in herds and cooperation among members is a major survival tactic. This is where empathy and altruism (as well as tribalism/racism and the "us versus them" mentality) come from. A tribe that doesn't cooperate among itself will soon be wiped out by another tribe that does. Human beings take care of their sick and injured because one day they might be sick and need somone to take care of them. Evolutionary psychology is an extremely interesting field. |
PupetMasta:PupetMasta for president! I swear to god I'll vote for you if you run. It's like you're reading my mind! |
harakiri:Abeg tell them! Religious people refuse to understand that their rights end where other people's begin. When muslims were trying to stop people from watching Miss. World, christians were shouting and complaining. Now some of them think they have the right to disturb the public peace whenever they feel like. So because your religion says you can make noise and disturb others you expect everybody to just keep quiet and bear it. If I told you that my religion says I have the right to cut off your head would you lie down and accept? People need to stop being so narrow-minded. |
Joagbaje:My god, why are religious people such inconsiderate ässhOles? Seriously, is it so hard to understand that some people like their peace and quiet? Would you like it if someone keeps you awake during a long trip by shouting about a religion that you don't believe in? Why can't you just control yourself and STFU like a normal person? Seriously, I hope you do try to preach on a plane. Better, yet do it on a US-bound flight so they can tazer you and lock you up next to Mutallab. Nonsense! |
jayriginal:If we still can't find verifiable proof of his existence, then yes. And I prefer the term "rationalist" if you don't mind. Also, I have to agree with frosbel on this one. 2000 years of christian dogma supports the claim that only "true christians" will go to heaven and all others will the punished for their sin and their unbelief. The problem is that there are so many other religions that make similar claims and there's no logical way to show which one is correct. Probably why most people just go with the one their parents follow. |
Is that all? I'm surprised that they aren't asking for some sharks with lasers on their heads. Blame the rètards running our government for even attempting to talk to these psychos instead of doing their job and hunting them down. Everybody except GEJ knows that you don't negotiate with terrorists under any circumstances. I'm almost hoping that BH blows up Aso Rock so we can have a new president with some balls and a brain. Nonsense! |
I'm at work right now. I was about to post something here like 3 hours ago when I suddenly had to go and sow up a patient who got stabbed multiple times by a drunken idiöt with a broken bottle during a small bar argument. Imagine what my life would be like if all the drunken idiots in Nigeria had guns on them! I shudder to think. Arming civilians may prevent a few crimes here and there, but the net effect will be a major increase in murder and urban carnage. |
Lay off some redundant civil servants. Sack some political officeholders, reduce the number of aides, scrap some ministries and parastatals, merge others. If you reduce the size of the federal government significantly, you'll free up more than that amount easily. These people like to talk a lot, but they won't do what they're supposed to do. |
Posted by BeafProof or GTFO! It's easy to make wild and unfounded accusations on the internet. Why don't you ask yourself how a major leader of the opposition and "proven theif" can still be walking around freely buying airlines and being a thorn in the ruling party's side? Maybe its because there's no serious evidence against him. Or maybe there's evidence but our chief security officer is too busy being rètarded to do anything about it. Or perhaps GEJ doesn't want to set the precedent of sending a fellow ex-governor to prison. Maybe he knows that his own immunity won't last forever and that his cup (as well those of 90% of his PDP friends) is full to overflowing. I'll be glad to see Tinubu go to prison for corruption as long as all the PDP ex-governors, ex-ministers, ex-presidents, Turai Yar'Adua and Dame Dr. Mrs. Jonathan go first. |
aloy@emeka:Shebi the next round of campaigning will start in less than 2 years and everybody knows Jonathan is a sitting duck. We'll find out soon enough if I'm right. When big men in Nigeria start making large public donations and courting the media, it can only mean one thing. You mark my words. |
Beaf:I'll give you $1billion if you can show me where in my last post I said Tinubu is not a thief. Maybe he is, maybe he isn't but if there's any indication that he stole public money then its the job of your useless PDP president to prosecute him. If he's buying airlines with the proceeds of crime, then it means that your useless PDP president isn't doing his job as chief security officer. The same applies to the 2 useless PDP presidents who preceeded him. But we all know that to ask a useless PDP president not to turn a blind eye to corruption is like asking an Ijebu man not to eat amala. A man cannot go against his nature. |
Kay 17:No mind them joo. People just like copypasting cräp from every retärded corner of the internet and passing it off as science. This article is full of strawman arguments ("even simple machines don't appear by chance" , discredited ideas like "irreducible complexity" and blatant lies like "there's no evidence of evolutionary transition in the fossil record". Anyone who reads it is going to be just a little more ignorant by the time he/she gets to the end. Thank you Trueseeker for contributing to the lowering of our National I.Q. |
Beaf:Whatever, man. If Tinubu is really a thief, then its GEJ and Yar'Adua's fault for not prosecuting him. Your party controls the police and the EFCC so find some evidence and prosecute the man or STFU. It's funny how PDP supporters all have selective amnesia. They never remember names like Ibori, Odili, Obasanjo and co when they're talking about corruption. But one mention of Tinubu, and everybody starts shouting. |
I'm beginning to suspect that this guy is planning a run for president in the near future. The way he's been throwing money around and attracting headlines seems very suspicious. Even with his record as a greedy monopolist and stock-price manipulator, I'm sure there are plenty of Nigerians stûpid enough to vote for him. After all, they voted for GEJ. |
You people are being unfair to Obasanjo and Buhari. I cant claim that OBJ was a great president but he did pretty well during his first tenure. He handled the economy fairly well, wasn't particularly corrupt, and didn't overstay his welcome. And that was back when a military man handing over to civilians in Africa was a strange and novel thing. I used to say that his second comming was an epic fail, but when you compare his performance to the 2 clowns that have followed him, he he almost looks like Mahatma Ghandi. Buhari on the other hand has been vilified for mostly political reasons. The man served as head of state between the extremely corrupt Shagari government and the extremely corrupt Babangida government, yet not even his enemies can accuse him of stealing a kobo. He was the head of the PTF whose budget rivalled that of the FG itself, but he never stole anything. Those facts alone are enough to make hima serious candidate for "Best Military Head of State in History". Plus he never showed any signs of ethnic bigotry when he was holding public office. After watching the circus that GEJ and Yar'Adua have turned the federal government into, I think its time for us to lower our expectations of what a good leader is. I'll take another OBJ or Buhari any day over the likes of Jonathan. |
The pastor's involved should be charged with manslaughter. There is no justification for convincing someone to go without water for 21 days. This type of nonsense happens too often, pastors harming their people with their lies and tall tales. Its pretty much impossible for anyone to survive without water for up to 2 weeks so those crazy pastors who claim to have fasted for longer are all liers. When I was much younger, I had the misfortune of being dragged along to a "deliverance programme" where I was expected to dry fast for 7 days. After 4 days I was too weak to stand, my eyes sunk deep into my skull, my heart was pounding in my chest, and I was constantly dizzy. When it became clear to me that I wasn't going to make it to day 7, I dragged myself to the bathroom and drank water from the tap. Then I went outside and downed 5 bags of pure water, and immediately felt much better. Whats funny is that everyone else cheated and drank water before the end but nobody said anything about it. A few people lasted longer that me, but by day 7, everybody looked healthier and stronger than they did on day 2. Suddenly someome who was barely standing the day before would suddenly recover his strenght and start dancing and shedding tears during praise and worship (dehydrated people don't shed tears). Nobody bothered to think about what would have happened to all of us if we had actually done what the pastors had told us. None are so blind as those who refuse to see. |
Its funny that OP is tired of church and want's to stay at home and watch TBN instead. Meanwhile TBN has some of the worst examples of everything that is wrong with Christianity today. They actively promote well documented frauds like Benny Hinn, Kenneth Copeland, Creflo Dollar, Eddie Long, Paula White, Joyce Meyer and co and they are constantly pestering their viewers to buy overpriced books, tape and CDs or just to send money in exchange for nothing. The whole channel is one huge commercial enterprise capitalizing on the naivety of old people with too much time on their hands. The bullshît is so thick, yon can cut it with a knife. If you don't believe me, just wait till January when all of them start with their "firstfruits" preaching. AKA send us you entire January salary or else God won't bless you this year! Nonsense. |
oyb:Thanks for the info, very helpful. Was getting my games from isohunt and tpb before, but I'll try wiiso.com. @Man_51ut Nobody's trying to kill gaming. Most of us are big fans of the industry and support it by buying games whenever we can. Its just that it can get expensive. When we're forced to pay 2-3X what what Americans do for games despite earning less money, some piracy is inevitable |
