I still consider that fair deal even though the sellers are obviously exploiting the current situation to hike price of the SIM cards. Over here, we pay far more for just owning a SIM card, even though we can obtain the SIM for free from the carrier, depending on the contract plan. In the USA phone usage is based mostly on contract, as such we are deprived of the kind of freedom and choice my fellow Nigerians at home have in choosing how to use their phones. I use AT&T, for instance. The SIM card was offered to me for free as part of the contract but the carrier charges about $30/mo for a plan that includes just 5GB of data. Naija is still better in some ways, guys.

Reading about this incident has just reminded me of one story that I heard back then in my small village. A man in the neighbouring village had taken his own life over a matter bordering on infidelity. Actually, it wasn't even a case of infidelity as such, but of betrayal, by his own wife of several years with whom he couldn't bear a child.

Since he could not get his wife pregnant, the man had permitted for his wife to meet another man, some random stranger, and sleep with him so she could get pregnant. He even allowed her freedom to choose a man of her own choice to sleep with but only on the condition that she looked far beyond their immediate village in trying to find such a man. Whomever she happened to sleep with must be a stranger and an outsider. That way she would be saving her husband the inconveniencing and uncomfortable thought of knowing that the actual father of his child lived just nearby. So the wife agreed.

But rather than act in accordance to this agreement, she slept with her husband's best friend instead, and got pregnant by him. It did not take long before the villagers took notice of the ongoing affair, as well as the pregnancy, and it became a talking point in that village. Unable to contain his anger, and feeling betrayed by this treacherous behavior of his wife, the poor man committed suicide by hanging himself with a rope.

It is not. Some moslem northerners, especially from that part of the North, bear Igbo and Yoruba names. This is good news. But even before I relocated to USA, I had already been using Spotify in Nigeria. It's my best option for music streaming, besides Pandora, which is also popular here in the United States. Spotify uses geolocation to restrict streaming of its content outside the USA, but users in Nigeria and elsewhere can bypass such restrictions by tunneling via a VPN app (such as Psiphon) and selecting "United States" from the list of countries. That way one can access Spotify and other apps not available to Nigeria.

I will try to make this as short and simple as possible.

My kid sister texted me on WhatsApp this evening saying she almost got raped by the guy crediting her online wallet for her, I drove straight to my mum's store because I was just leaving the office.

Now I met her and asked what's up.

She has an online wallet where she recharges decoders, pays electricity bills for people, sells airtime and data etc. She is a student and she's doing that business in my mum's store so she could help herself in school.

She said someone sent her 30k to pay his electricity bill and also recharge his decoder for him so she went to the guy's shop to get her account credited but he wasn't there then she called him and he directed her to his house in that same street very close to the shop.
She got there and the guy tried forcing himself on her, mind you she's on her period, she refused and during the scuffle she lost one of her earrings, she begged me not to take action that the guy has apologised, seeing that I was very hurt and I wanted to confront the guy at that moment. while she was explaining to me the guy called and kept on apologizing but I'm not having any of that.

I wanted to call some of my friends to beat up the guy but after she begged me, I still want confront the guy, warn him seriously but I need advice on if that's the best thing to do or which way do you think is best to approach the situation?

I was going to ask what rationale informed the state government's decision to start arresting people in the streets over non-compliance with wearing the face mask, then I saw "Internal Revenue Service" boldly inscribed on the task force van. That says it all: it's just a means to extort money from the residents. Even in the United States here, law enforcement agents do not go about arresting people for refusing to wear the face masks. You just know the right thing to do and wear these masks on your own, without necessarily being compelled to do so.
