I noticed it when I bought Ticket for my wife's Lagos to Toronto

It was 46% cheaper if she had taken the flight from Banjul, Gambia than from Lagos.

She wanted to go through Gambia as she wanted to participate in an international event in Gambia before the event was cancelled.

We had to book the expensive Lagos - Dublin - Toronto.

You can send if you want. But I am telling you a first hand experience. The visa was issued in May 2023.

The main form there is the "application form for study made outside Canada".

All the questions from the temporary visa application form is still in the study visa application form.

Yes, our parents really did try their best. The painful thing was that my sister passed both the common entrance exam and the subsequent interview but was given FGC Sokoto. My parents really tried to even get some where near, FGC Odogbolu (Ogun state) but it didn't work out.

My sister, now a Rev.Sr. and a consultant psychologist keep saying she was depressed throughout secondary school because she didn't make it to FGC despite her brilliancy and it got worsen, whenever our neighbour's daughter came back home from Queens College on mid term breaks and end of term holidays. It was at that tender age, she realized the injustice called quota system and harboured that anger until she spoke about the repressed anger, when she went for personal therapy during her doctorate program.

What a story! My respect to her.
May the good Lord continue to enrich her in His vineyard. Making that solemn vow is not an easy thing o.

Actually in 1989, it was out of 600 because my eldest sister sat for it and scored 534 and our state, (Imo state) cut off mark that year was 523 and highest in Nigeria, while the old Gongola state was less than 200 as we had a neighbour who was from Mubi (Gongola state) whose daughter scored less than 200 and made it to Queens College Lagos while my elder sister didn't get FGC Ijanikin that was her first choice nor FGC Okigwe that was her second choice but was compensated with Federal Government College, Sokoto ! Imagine sending a 12 year old from Lagos to Sokoto by road way back in 1990......my parents did waka to them and got my sister enrolled in a day secondary school in Lagos.

You just summarised the dedication and commitment some of our parents showed in the 80's and early 90's about their children. I did my own FGC common entrance in 1990 and was admitted to FGC Maiduguri because I didn't meet the Anambra State cut off for both Kings College, Lagos and FGC Enugu, which were my first and second choice, respectively.
My Dad was moving up and down from Anambra to Borno state for change of school for me and to get letter of release from FGC Maiduguri. Luckily, I later sat and passed the entrance exam of one of the most prestigious Catholic school in Nigeria. That was how I skipped FGC Maiduguri and went to Catholic school.

I will rather use Asaba than to use the Anambra airport to come to Anambra. Asaba is just two minutes drive to Onitsha compared to the Anambra airport. Most importantly, I fear the airport road leading to the Anambra airport. Pray not to be stranded there at night. Don't know why Obiano had to take the airport to that remote area known for violent crimes and community clashes.

Transportation will take close to 40% of it in the absence of staff bus, followed by house rent. 90% of lagosians lives far from their places of work. It would be a herculean task to save. I was lucky during my own time. I started with this N150k salary when I joined an investment bank in 2004 just after my NYSC. I had the luxury of going and coming to work by staff bus and stayed with a relative for close to six years - so, no rent payment. I even felt that the N150k salary was much then as I practically wasn't spending anything except to buy my tokunbo Zara suites and shoes. My host was also doing well and didn't need any contribution from me. However, I did brought home, the yearly one bag of rice, Jerricans of ground oils, cartoons of tomatoes and frozen Turkey shared by my company every Christmas to staff.

I don't like tribalism but you made so much sense. It's true. It's easier for the big three to unite against a minority president than for the country to unite against a president from any of the big three. So unfortunate. That's the tragedy of Nigeria.

As usual with top estates in Anambra, no good road network. You will see houses and mansions in an estate with dilapidated mud road network. This is what annoys me about the Nigerian army and other paramilitary forces. They don't kit like other armed forces that I see and watch in other countries, including African countries. Is it that we can't acquire these top gear wears for our security personnel, at least for them to look gorgeous or what?

This is a good policy if well implemented. Some people in the informal sector with turnover running into millions pays next to nothing in taxes while a young Man earning peanuts in the formal sector consistently pays taxes.

It is also good as VAT is an indirect taxation and the burden is on the final consumer. Nigerians should start paying their fair share of taxes to see if we could improve our collective situation the same way Oyibo people have done. However, government has to be sincere and shun corruption and corrupt tendencies, especially in official quarters.

I am sure you are trying to apply for diploma in practical nursing. The equivalent is your Nigerian SSCE in Maths, English, Biology, Chemistry or Physics at a minimum of credit level. However, having credits in those subjects is not a guarantee for you to get the admission. Practical nursing is very competitive! Good luck

We should desist from praising things we do not know how it would impact the economy.

The summary is that businesses would have to spend more to import - what is the implication of this? of course, high cost and things would become more expensive. Government have been subsidizing foreign exchange for importers to make their goods cheaper because Nigeria is a poor country.

Nigerian students studying abroad would have to pay more as the cost of FX becomes even higher. FX is going to be expensive.

Tinubu and his administration would be closer to Jonathan than Buhari.

They will relate more with GEJ than PMB.

They have seen the kind of character the man is - the monumental corruption that would be exposed under Buhari would be mind-boggling. Tinubu should not spare the key actors in that administration.
