2.A functional economy in a way attracts functional infrastructure. Here in Nigeria, our economy is not fuctioning well because we put too much price controls, and that discurages investment.
3.It is one thing to build infrastructure. But it is another thing to maintain it, and to have the funds to keep on upgrading it. And with a tax to gdp ratio less than6% (less than the African average), why be building infrastructure that at the end of the day low funds keep you from maintaining it well...? So our infrastructure should be left to decay abi and who told you we have no funds to maintain them? You are just being bias cos if no infrastructure is built you will look for another excuse. Your lack of understanding is really exposed as I am amazed that you can't see the connection between infrastructure and functional economy anyway you are just biased so it's understandable. |

1. Hausa/Fulani oligarchy. Scared of the growing popularity of the VP. They don't want to handover after 2023.
2. PDP. That demonic party that ruined any chance of Nigeria being a normal country, right from 1999-2015. (Watch as children born after 1999 dispute this)
3. Most Igbos. Apart from the fact that any Yoruba person doing well in life gives them a bad migraine, they are hoping that their man, Obi will be the next president and Osinbajo's reputation is a threat to this.
In short, they are all running scared. you are very right. The VP's crime is simply because he is VP and his chances of becoming president is as bright as the sun. We expect more attacks against the VP till 2023 |

RuudVanNisteroy: Absence of fence around shops and office buildings is the major difference and wide sidewalks for pedestrians. And most importantly 24 hour electricity. We had all these in the good old days in this country but worsening security from the 80s where armed robbery became popular brought all the fences you see everywhere. As for electricity we know it's a tall order if we continue our love for Generators' importation. It was in the mid 90s that generators became popular in Nigeria as electricity supply deteriorated. We can gain all these back if we are truly serious about true reforms |

The reason majority opposed the demolitions in Lagos was because there was a greedy landlord who wanted to turn those vacated lands to his estates. not true bruv, let's say it the way it is, Nigerians just abhor the pains and inconveniences that comes in getting these kinds of developments we truly desire. Endurance28: *CAMA 2020* Pls read the submission of King Arthur, Esq with an open mind.
*Suspension of Trustees and Appointment of Interim Manager(s)*
Section 839 (1) empowers the Commission to suspend trustees of an association and appoint interim managers to manage the affairs of the association where it reasonably believes that-
(a) There is or has been misconduct or mismanagement in the administration of the association;
(b) it is necessary or desirable for the purpose of;
i. Protecting the property of the association
ii. Securing a proper application for the property of the association towards achieving the objects of the association, the purpose of the associationof that property or of the property coming to the association,
iii. Public interest; or
(c) the affairs of the association are being run fraudulently.
By the foregoing provision, the Commission can lawfully suspend the trustees of an association on the grounds stated above. If the subsection were to end there, the concerns of unbridled power raised would have been justified, but it does not end there.
Subsection 2 provides as follows:
1. The trustees shall be suspended by an order of Court upon the petition of the Commission or Members consisting of one-fifth of the association, and the petitioners shall present all reasonable evidence or such evidence as requested by the Court in respect of the petition.
Subsection 2 therefore expressly provides for –
A. Who has the locus to suspend the Trustees?
Answer: The Commission and the Members of the association in question.
B. What are the Conditions Precedent before the action for suspension can be heard?
Answer: A petition detailing grounds of a breach as stated above, reasonable evidence, and with Members – a quorum of one-fifth.
C. How can the Trustees be suspended?
Answer: By an Order of Court.
This provision is not ambiguous.
Thus, the discretion of the Commission in its “reasonable belief” is still subject to the approval of the Court, the likelihood of arbitrariness by the Commission in subsection 1 is curtailed by subsection 2; if the Commission (or members) acts outside Sub 2, it is null and void. The Registrar General cannot just wake up on the wrong side of the bed as being touted and suspend the Trustees. The law is not subjective to sleep positions. It is the Law. There are grounds for which evidence must be adduced by people recognized by law to obtain an Order of Court before the power conferred can be exercised.
Subsection 3 provides for the hearing of the petition and the appointment of the Interim Managers by the Court with the assistance of the Commission. The Interim managers are designated by the Court or the appointment of any person who cannot do as otherwise instructed without the approval of the Court.
The Court has the final say, not the Commission and not the Members. If the argument against this provision is that of lack of trust in the Judiciary to play its role by law, that is a different conversation altogether. many of the church leaders understand this but just want to retain their hold on the churches and resources contributed by members which is not even in the true spirit of accountability as outlined even in scriptures where it is enjoined that pastors as shepherds should not be lords over the flock but examples to the flock which is the people they lead |

Until we stop worshipping money in Nigeria, we will keep struggling with issues of honesty.
Even in church, you are looked down upon if you don't have money. You visit the hospital you can't do much and will not be taken seriously without money. It's that bad, even your siblings or family members will disrespect you if you are broke or go broke. The pressure is much everywhere and is what is pushing most nigerians to be dishonest.
We need to de-emphasise the issue of too much money and celebrate people more for what they have upstairs. If not this country will sink more into crisis, boko haram, banditry, kidnapping and other evils are thriving and will continue to thrive because money is our god in Nigeria.
Let's stop worshipping money and see if things will not improve to make everyone start thinking straight |

loneprof: This is food for thought... Baba Oyedepo was very observant to have mentioned this. We are all aware that Nigerian politicians and occultism are like 5&6.
It would be wrong for any Christian to say just because he wants to be law abiding, they would allow an external person oversee church activities...
Let them try all their stunts with Muslims...no, it's only the churches, because Muslims have always made it known that they are not gentle! No law can harm the church if the church put it's acts together and maintain credibility. There are state laws in the north that are anti-christian still there is no state in Nigeria where churches have not thrived. The recent inconsistencies in church administrations in recent times is the reason govt may have to turn it's eyes on the church. Let the church in Nigeria clean up itself and govt will not need to regulate directly. This is why bodies like CAN and PFN exists, these are bodies thru which govt can regulate things but unfortunately no pastor including Oyedepo himself is ready to be accountable to anybody as everyone claim God sent him and not any man. As long as no church was not built in the air or in the spirit realm but on the earth that we all live in, they must be accountable. You can check in the western world and see how churches are well regulated. |

Do you know how much Olukoye of MFM raked in for his numerous books sales, under the church's name? Do you know how much some churches make in terms of renting halls to their members during special occasions like weddings, and even mosques. At least, I know of Lekki Central Mosque, they have a hall, inside the mosque, you can rent it at 300k for your event. So, what are we talking about? Churches and Mosques have day-cares, these are no charity anything, they collect fee from their users, aren't they suppose to be taxed? But no, Nigerians will argue otherwise, just out of hatred for the person occupying the post of the president presently. we are never objective, but will compare ourselves to saner climes. Saner climes kill huna there truth is the govt is aware of all this and plans are already in motion to put things right. I discussed this with someone in the know today and he says it was covid that even slowed the govt down that all laws have been put in place and people well trained to actualize this. anybody can rant but no one especially in this govt fears these pastors anymore especially Pentecostals [sad for them]. The person even told me that none of them was even contacted when covid guidelines were being put in place which is a big statement the govt has made so far. |

aswani: The only reason I support something similar is because of the circumstances that lead to Asimolowo having to leave UK to relocate to Nigeria. Churches over there are registered with the UK Charities Commission so they don't have to pay tax amongst other things. As a result the UK Government insists on a clear separation between Church and Leader/Owner whatever, something that is needed in Naija. When KICC's accounts were audited, it was found out that the church were buying properties and registering them in Asimolowo's name. Obviously no one at the church would have been able to complain as Asimolowo had overall power and it was a good thing that the UK Charities Commission could do something about it. I think he was sanctioned and the Charities Commission appointed someone to run the church accounts for a while. It is those kind of excesses that I am in favour of the government intervening in. well said. Nigerian churches are already in the know of some of these regulations but will use religious blackmail to deceive. It's even a Nigerian law that as a trustee member of a church, you can't earn salary from the church and if you must earn, you must be removed as a trustee. I know pastors who have to remove themselves as trustees to earn salaries and gifts from the church |

mbhs139:

After all these barrage here, it is these you people that will be shouting in saner climes up and down.
Let me tell you something, in saner climes, Canada in particular, we collect receipt when we donate to church or mosque and we declare it as part of our expenses while filing tax in order to reduce our tax liability. So, how will the church not account to Govt, how the money they received from citizens are being managed, that's what this is all about. Who are the churches accountable to? So, daddy GO should just continue to be making free money without paying tax? It doesn't work that way ó! Nigerian GOs don't want to be accountable to anybody, they use God to cover everything. In scriptures when tax was demanded from Jesus and his disciples. Jesus complied sharp sharp. I wonder which bible Christians claim to read today. Churches are meant to operate as Charity organization devoid of any business transaction. Am even in support of Churches opening factories or enterprises to create more employment but they must pay tax as long as they make profit. Doing all sorts of businesses and hiding under church to evade tax cannot continue. Lots of churches In Nigeria have camps, quest houses, lodges they give out for fees and rates, why won't they pay tax on such transactions. Nigerian churches should be more informed in this age and separate business concerns from the Church itself. |

isthatso: I have said it many times, the SE vote is the most inconsequential regional vote in the Nigerian political space. Giving it undeserved importance is a major reason Atiku lost in 2019.
it's very simple: SE will vote PDP come rain come sunshine, they are the most tribal in terms of politics, Since independence, they've always voted for the ibo party whichever party fits the label. Therefore APC trying to woo them is a waste of time because they will still vote PDP and PDP giving them a slot is also a waste of time because they have no other party to vote for, If Atiku had given the VP slot to the SW, PDP may have had a better chance though i suspect he might still have lost but he would have dented APC votes in the SW and the race would have been closer. I lost any reminant regard for Atiku when he picked Obi because it showed me the man lacks strategic or tactical nous. No votes were gained by that action and the whole idea behind who you select as running mate is for him to help gather votes in areas you didnt already have penetration / gain votes from your opponent in areas where you are weak.
APC in 2023 will either be 1) North +SW/SS or 2) SS/SW + North. PDP's response should be a combination of North and SW or SS to stand any realistic hope, any combo with SE on the ticket is dead on arrival!!
Personally I believe Amaechi/north VP is a landslide for APC. It's good liveable compromise for North, SW and SS what is amaechi's investment in APC to warrant presidential ticket after ministerial post for two terms, APC is not that daft o |
