Those journalists present at that occasion no get balls at all, journalists should be fearless no matter what the circumstance. FFK was just too proud by thinking he's above anyone who has never been minister in this country. Him and Dino melaye should declare their source of wealth if they are not ritualists or fraudsters. Other journalists present did not help matter, their actions and fidgeting destroyed Charle eyo's confidence.
that's how we nigerians are, we are cowards as we only know how to rant on social media. Those other journalists am sure have gone on social media to abuse ffk too despite being silent in his presence

He is mad

I want to see if he will still continue his unprovoked attacks on people whose ideology and views are different from his after he has shown us all that he can't take a pinch of his slanderous and libellous attacks on other people.

He is a selfish non altruistic and egoistic hypocrite, with no respect for freedom of expression which he himself has been abusing.

What baffles me is the fact that no PDP person has made a comment about this scandalous act of Femi, but if it was the other way round the media would have been agog with different barrage of insensitive comments and insult from the PDP folks.

I am also agazed with the fact that some dingbats here on NL are defending the shameful act.

The greatest disservice Lord Lugard made was bringing the Yorubas into the Hausa/Fulanis & Igbos mix, these two set holds complete opposite and extreme views about life but both have the control and domineering spirit in common.

Imagine a Nigeria without the two coups both pioneered.
you are very right, both has no regards for boundaries. They lack basic self control on where to stop as regards the right of others. Yorubas are everywhere but hardy will you hear any issues they have with their hosts cos they respect boundaries. People call it weakness not knowing is simple civilization and respect for humanity. Too much barbarians in Nigeria we live with

The UK a.k.a. Great Britain is four countries put together, England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales but still they respect each other boundaries and do not trespass over each other so you still hear stuff like irish food, Scottish wine and the likes, they all respect their differences and everybody answer their papa name but for naija na to oppress others, claim other people's stuff and day light robbery, mhen we get issues o

Why is it that only those that looks like a one man business are complaining?
The churches mentioned above already have well laid down structures of financial accountability where some of them even do AGM where financial statements are rendered before their members [Foursquare, Baptist do this].

Most other churches where the founders are still alive don't want to do this

The writer of this article is mischievous in my opinion. I am a neutral person here. There is no where that the law says that the board ot trustee of an I.T can be removed without recourse to the court of law. Please let us try to be reading and not always swallowing everything and just making comments anyhow. Attached is a screenshot of the controversal section of the law. Thanks
We Christians are the ones sensationalizing the issue, the removal of trustees is even based on misconduct or fraudulent issues so the questions is are there current fraudulent practices going on in our churches that are being covered up? I don't understand

I just think some of our Christian leaders just want to avoid accountability at all cost

I don't know what National Orientation Agency is doing.

Before such laws are passed, it is the duty of NOA to orientate Nigerians and let them into what it is about.

You don't just pass sensitive laws without proper orientation of the people.

I can bet that many ordinary Nigerians who are against this law don't know what it entails, the only point religion capitalists have been hammering on and telling their congregants is the fact that FG will start appointing Managers over Churches since they know that this will definitely not go well with the masses whose religion is their opium and they will kick against such law.
It is the duty of NOA to enlighten the people about the law, let them know that the Government trying to hold their religious leaders accountable.

What is even the work of NOA in Nigeria
That Agency is so useless and I think it is not being properly monitored.
You have said it all. Best comment so far

Is the government accountable? Wait a minute, is there an atom of integrity in this current dispensation? A government that appoints Fulani Muslims to head virtually all important parastatals is not trustworthy. God will always win! The church will surely prevail in this. It cannot just stand.
The govt is a thief agreed, but if armed robbers visit you, won't you accuse the same thieving govt of not protecting you? So does it mean that since the govt is a thief, they should not do due diligence in protecting nigerians from robbers?

So my dear, if the govt itself is struggling with accountability and integrity does not mean our pastors and churches should not be accountable and anyone who says all our churches have integrity already and are accountable is lying.

Let the muslims account for themselves too and the church do likewise and show good example. Is that too much to ask?

South Africa annual budget is $103 billion dollars, which is 5 times Nigeria's annual budget of roughly $22 billion dollars. South Africa can use that annual budget to redistribute wealth to the black population, but obviously massive corruption has crept in under ANC.

While Namibia annual budget of $4.7 billion dollars should be enough to take of 2.2 million blacks in Namibia. The white population of Namibia is only 200,000.
south africa cannot redistribute the wealth cos the whites can never play second fiddle, don't you get it? same thing for Namibia. The day they will want to redistribute the wealth to the blacks, they will all become like Zimbabwe

I’m curious... what accountability are u expecting from all religious bodies...?? Or maybe just the church since that’s where ur emphasis is...

U don’t even know ur right enough to demand it from your government... but you want a church that collects 100naira offering to be accountable to you??.... i now understand why the government keeps screwingg us every 4 years
How many churches do AGM [Annual General meetings] or you think churches are exempted? Apart from very few churches like Baptist and other very old churches, how accountable are churches to their members who donate these funds? Look here, human beings are the ones in church and leading these churches and not spirits where we can assume that all they are doing is right. Or you are not aware that money laundering is happening within our churches.

The world has changed bruv, gone are the days we can just assume that our GOs are always right, reason when there is a scandal, it's always grave. Checks and balances are now needed as any registered church is also a civil organization that sue and can be sued.

The annual budget and federal, state and local level is controlled by the black population in SA and Namibia. The wealth of the white population is in the shareholding of companies listed in the stock exchange and land ownership.

Do you expect the government of Namibia and South Africa to start seizing shares and lands and redistributing it to blacks? Zimbabwe has shown seizing lands and redistributing land to the black population indiscriminately does not work.

The government of Namibia and South Africa have to try and use the annual budget at federal, state and local level to redistribute wealth to the black population.
Your statement above has lend credence to what I said, so the economy is still in the hands of the whites. Forget annual budget perhaps the black politicians are also helping themselves like their colleagues and fellow blacks in other African nations.

Zimbabwe is a good example why colonial masters will never allow any African nation develop if they are not in charge in the background

The leaders since 1990 Namibia got independence from South Africa have all being black. What you are saying is the equivalent of saying South Africa has not being run by blacks since 1994 when aparthheid ended because the white population control the economy.

The annual budget in Namibia since 1990 has been made and controlled by the black population .
guy, lots of african countries are not truly independent from the francophone countries to countries like SA and Namibia, their black govt officials including the president are just figure heads but the economy and infrastructure is still controlled by the colonial masters, reason their high level of development especially in infrastructure. There was a reason the late walter ofonagoro called SA a white country with a black head of state, reason mandela and other black presidents so far of SA are still battling with so much issues of unemployment and education for the black majority.

Nigeria, Ethiopia among very few African nations remain the only true independent countries in Africa with the economy totally in the hands of the nationals. Let's not be deceived, even a country like DR congo with the most endowed with natural resources cannot develop much because of their colonial masters. The deal is simple, allow the colonial masters control your economy but you can be figure head politically.

There is a reason many African countries are still at war, the colonial masters just want to be in charge in the background

This law is directly targeted at the church and its deliberate. The money churches earn are freely donated by members so I don't think they should be taxed on such earnings except for businesses such as schools etc established by the church.

I know many would argue this and support the government but as a Christian, I stand against it and nothing will change my mind.
nobody is taxing the church but churches are doing many businesses underground that is not accounted for so its high time we separate the church itself from the businesses they run.

Most camp grounds operated by churches rent out rooms at hourly or daily rates, is that not business that must be accounted for? or do they give out dividends to their members who contributed funds for the building of these camp grounds in the first place, guy so many questions to ask.

The era or narrative that it's the work of God so we should not ask questions is over o

There are some aspects that make sense in the law. I will not like a situation where people will formed NGO include churches and turn it to family business also. However government should understand that spiritual issues is different from physical issues. I therefore suggest that government should not intervene in church affairs except the church is going contrary to its own constitution.
Most nigerian churches do not want to be accountable even to their members parting away with their hard earned resources. Everything is covered using the name of God.

The govt just want these churches to be more accountable

No, i guess I should have eventually made myself clearer....

We can build infrastructure from A to Z...but at the end of the day, where are we going to get the finances to maintain them?

We spend billions on unnecessary subsides, and we do price controls on our power and petrol sector, limiting investment and funding...which means the economy indrectly cannot grow.

Perhaps I should have phrased it better. I've seen infrastructure being built all over the country fail because the cash is not there to maintain it.(and the little released gets looted a bit).
Corruption is a major reason we fail in maintenance not lack of funds even when tolls were being collected on FG roads still maintenance was an issue so it's not lack of funds bruv and still not an excuse to improve existing infrastructure with our teeming population.

The oil and gas sector is difficult to control in Nigeria cos of lots of human factors, if the FG decides to takes his hands off the sector all in the name of driving investment, we will come back here again to shout about rooftop prices of petroleum products. Nigeria environment is complicated and cannot be compared to other sane environments where people are still more reasonable. You want to leave that sector in hands of nigerian marketers? Na gbege be that. Textbook economics does not work seamlessly in Nigeria with our dog eat dog mentality hence govt intervention here and there
