I read all and observed the following.
1. Forefathers weaved, yet no date. Among all the respondents no one can point the date of when (the so-called ancient) Akwaocha began. People should not confuse the wearing of animal skins to weaving of cloth.

Who didn’t know that Asaba was the administrative capital of the Royal Niger Company. I even saw where clans like Ogwashi-uku, Isele-uku were dragging the origin of Alwaocha with Ubulu-uku. It’s even possible that the fore fathers were those whom the Royal Niger Company in Asaba used their lands for cotton plantation.

2. A dude was trying to link Benin to make us believe it’s ancient outlook. Yet, even the Benin’s themselves never had any of such industry as about that time. Now, you see where inferiority complex is fitting in the brains of these folks.

2. They used cotton to weave cloths, different from Akwaete people whose weaving were gotten from palm fronds, sea weeds and other indigenous crops. Even till now, Ibo masquerade wears is still sourced mainly from palmfronds. The use of cotton in Akwaete batik was added to increase commercial quantity inorder to mass produce. What does it tells you?

Show us evidence of Ogwashiukwu, Asaba, Isele Ukwu weaving cloths in the 18/19th century and I’ll [s]show you pictures of their Bini overlords roaming naked[/s]. Akwette were the first weaved cloths in Iboland. Others who began wearing cloths learn’t from them.
Are you sure the benins were really naked and had no clothes

Culture › Re: Sculpture Found At The Oba Palace by gregyboy(op):
Tao11 before you start anything with that sculpture foundi at the oba palace

First you have to prove those sculpture were made by ife people or they were aswell bought by yoruba merchant like what was stated by olowo

I hate arguing in myth it get things so mixed up, i guess you know me already

So you have to tell me if those sculpture were made by ife people if indeed it was made by ife then it must have shared the ife peoples identity to which it was made

The olowo said his own artworks were purchased from art merchants so definitely that sculpture was not identifying with owo culture that does not also mean it could not have been taken from owo by benins

But before we began talking about the ownership of that 1400 sculpture

Lets first talk about the ownership or the origin of ife artworks
For me the ife sculpture has nothing unique to the ife people and so was it also purchased from art merchant, the owo terracotta sculpture which olowo admitted was bought by art merchants happen to also be very similar with ife artwork meaning it was from one source

So TAO11 what do you have to say

TAO11:
In addition to the foregoing:

(1) No other sculpture anywhere else in the world shows this same regalia, except of course those of Ife kings — not even Owo which you often cling to irrationally. cheesy

And if you must be stupid as always to say otherwise, then make sure to provide your evidence of Owo artworks showing this regalia. grin

(2) This ‘bronze’ figure is dated to the c. early 1300 A.D. while Owo (which you often cling irrationally to) were still doing terra-cotta in the 1400s. grin — Yet ‘terra-cotta’ is a precursor to ‘bronze’. cheesy

In sum, the earliest date for Owo ‘bronzes’ (if they ever had any ‘bronze’ figures) must be in the 1500s at the earliest possible. grin

(3) Also, if you must lie illogically as always that the Binis may have destroyed Owo’s artworks; then be prepared to explain with what machines and chemicals they destroyed every single early ‘bronze‘ figures while the terra-cottas escaped such machinery/chemical destruction. grin
Did you know benin sculpture were also destroyed when the British invaded Benin, or you think all survived mugu

And i also made you know that those sculptures were sold to ife and owo didnt i, that's why the sculptures were not having anything unique to the people that had it

You fool, ryder was not working with oba eweka11 statement although maybe he did he made use of old documents from benins to have know or determine the location of oghene

Eweka11 statements were said, for political and cultural gains from yorubas which Ryder and Thornton noted, ryder was fully aware of eweka11 statements so definitely he was not confused he consider it too, and it know that the benis were altering their history for reasons known to them

I have forced my dullard slave to run back to upholding Ife-Benin connection which his signature ironically opposes. grin

But instead of upholding the true historical and academically confirmed connection of Ife’s suzerainty over Benin, our dullard friend became insecure and clung instead to the fictitious Izoduwa narrative of Erediauwa and his band of 1970s revisionists — a narrative which has been thoroughly debunked in academia as an interesting nonsense. grin See link below for an example:

Modified:
The ‘bronze’ figure of the then Ooni of Ife which was excavated from the palace of Benin kingdom dates to c. A.D. 1300. ~ Refer to the above-embedded image of the figure culled from S.P Blier, 2012:77.

While on the other hand, the earliest of the earliest dates obtained for both non-Ife Yoruba artworks and Benin artworks is c. A.D. 1420. ~ Refer to the already cited reference to Robin Horton above.

In conclusion: This bronze figure found in the place of Benin kingdom could therefore not logically or historically have come from another Yoruba polity considering the dates. grin

Moreover, the regalia — as has already been fully and thoroughly demonstrated — matches ONLY the regalia of the ancient Kings of Ife.

Dont mind the mugu rating ooni who was a native doctor in ife, to alafin who ruled an empire , this is one reason they need the benin history to survive because they cant get their fact right

When alafin was made the chairman of western chiefs councils the other yorub monarchs revolvated because they feared alafin rankings on them, but they supported the fraudulent ooni ife conspiracy which says they are all sons of oduduwa, because with ooni narrative no one will be ranked but all of them will be seen as equals

Last last they were still ranked, they fell for it,

When alafin saw he had lost his support he settled for second displacing the oba of benin who was initially second to third, but the oba of benin didnt even complained because the position he was given even tho he didnt speak yoruba made him glad

Lol. Pained over your ignorance that Alaafin is historically lower to Oni? Let me allow you continue to wallow with your shame because give or take, you have a Yoruba name grin . This, is the, power of Yoruba language as Franca lingua in Edo land.

Oviedo in Spain and Oviedo Edo land are false cognate because , Spain's Oviedo is not a demonym but a city which amongst others has a football (Soccer) team. Don't cry over spilled milk.

We dont need lecture over Spain's city's because we are familiar with history and cities. So stay put and bear your ancestral identity . After all, even Oba Bini 1896-97 acknowledged the fact that Oranmiyan, was a white man!. See people, see inferiority complex.
Mugu he never mentioned oromiyan mumu start talking history the way you saw it dont be putting your own version repeat what was written in the quote if possible

Did they mention oromiyan dont get me pissed

Oromiyan came into benin history when ooni and Alafin were having their supiority issue after 1920

The earliest benin ife myth started as i quote

Eweka had come from ife and displaced the edo people and anyone he found weak he wared with anyone he found strong he made a truce with. This was a quote from 1903

which was not involving oromiyan, but after years when the alafin had some issues with ooni, inother for the ooni to settle alafin of oyo after his forceful removal as the chairman of chief of council in then former western region,
Then benin-ife myth which was only involving ife, benin, eweka became modified to accompany the alafins this time

The quote was oromiyan who is alafin Ancestor conquered and ventured into benin and begot eweka

So when you are making silly statements becareful not to misinform people

Start reading and stop talking i feel repulsive towards the yorubas-benins wannabe because don even read and they dont know

Igue festival is a festival that was invented by oba ewaure to mark his powers and his achievements, it used to be celebrated around the middle of the year, the festival later merged with the igue festival which marks the beginning of new Yam festival and it was celebrated around june or August thereabouts

Not until recently it was moved to December to mark the end of the year in alignment with Christmas,

My benin brothers wannabe, can you point anything that makes it oduduwa festival... Or you lots are just so insecure this days on claiming benin and you failed

End of year festival is marked everywhere in the world, it is in all cultures before the arrival of Christmas

Yam festival is one festival that is not just unique to nigeria but to west africa as a whole unlike the benins they don't celebrate the end of the year they celebrate the beginning of the year inline with new yam it is called ugiemoro,

I wouldn't want to explain beyond this,

It has nothing to do with yorubas or oduduwa it even has little with Portuguese than any yoruba influence

If you want to claim benin history to uplift the desd yoruba history then come clean while doing it, don't crawl through the shadows, that will not be acceptable be me,

The staff in that article , does not even show anything signifying yoruba not to say oduduwa

The line between benin history and that of yoruba is so far apart, if we didnt venture into yoruba areas, we wont be having anything in common

I doubt if ife even celerate yam festival

Even tho am ikwere my edos brothers has indeed made some truth with this
Culture › Kinglist Of Yoruba Obas and their rankings by gregyboy(op):
1. Oba of Benin
Some say that the Oba of Benin, or Omo N’Oba, is the highest traditional ruler in Nigeria as he wields influence over the Edo people and is a popular figure in Nigeria. He heads the historic Eweka dynasty of the Great Benin Empire. It is also said that the Yorubas in Nigeria descended from the Benin people, hence the tittle Oba is being used to mean a king. The title of Oba was first created by Oba Eweka I, Benin Empire’s first ‘Oba’, who ascended power between 1180 and 1300. His son, grandson and now his great-grandson, Ewuare II were traditional rulers of Benin in modern-day Nigeria.it is to be noted that The oba benin would not be totally regarde as a Yoruba oba from historical viewpoints, but due to the fact that oba of benin for political reasons in the past regarded himself as one, on the bases of Diplomacy and friendship we have no choice than to honour it and regard him as one, the oba of benin rule extended to the present ogun state, lagos, ekiti oyo, osun and ondo tho much of his influence were minimum in some states lije oyo, osun and ogun but that would not be true for the others oba ghat to kpere ise......

2. Ooni of Ife

The Ooni of Ife is the most powerful king in Yoruba land. The current Ooni of Ife is Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi . According to the Alake of Egbaland, the Ooni is the first of the five principal Obas in Yorubaland just like the Sultan of Sokoto is the highest ruler in the northern part of Nigeria. This is because his supremacy dates back to the origin of the Yoruba tribe. He is also one of the most influential figures in Nigeria and he recently married Queen Morenike Naomi Oluwaseyi, a prophetess.

3. Alaafin of Oyo
He is the second in line in the ranking of Yoruba monarchs in Nigeria, Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III was born 15 August 1938 and he is the current Alaafin, or traditional ruler, of the Yoruba state of Oyo and righful heir to the throne of its historic empire. His dynasty dates back to the old Oyo empire which recognizes him as the emperor of the Oyo empire. He is among the list of the richest Yoruba king in Nigeria

.4. Alake of Egbaland
Fourth on the list of ranking of obas in Yorubaland is the Alake of Egbaland . He is the paramount Yoruba king of Egba, a city in Abeokuta, Ogun State, southwestern Nigeria. Egba consists of Egba Alake, Owu kingdom rule by the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oke-Ona and Gbagura. He was the one who cleared the air concerning how the monarchs in Yoruba land should be ranked starting from the Ooni of Ife to the Awujale of Ijebuland.

5. Awujale of Ijebuland
He is the least on the list of 5 powerful obas in Yoruba land. His kingdom, Ijebu (also known as Jebu or Geebu) was a Yoruba kingdom in pre-colonial Nigeria. It was formed around the fifteenth century. According to legend, its ruling dynasty was founded by Obanta of Ile-Ife. The current Awujale of Ijebuland is Sikiru Kayode Adetona.

There is a recent tussle as to who is superior between the Oba of Lagos and the Ooni of ife (Yoruba Emperor). This should not be so as history backs the Ooni as the most superior paramount ruler of the Yoruba speaking people.

TAO11:
Emir is not the only word used by Islamic rulers, you dullard.

The king of Itsekiri is a prince of the Oba of Benin — and as such is not related to the Ogiamien family of Benin.

His title is “Ogiame” — a Benin word which means “King over the waters”. He uses this Benin word as his title because of his Benin lineage, despite ruling over a Yoruba subgroup.

“Ogiame” (which is his title) is different from “Ogiamien” (aka “Ogiamwen”) which is a another family of Benin who are against the Oba’s family.

I hope you’re aware that “you have indeed gone mad” is not an evidence.

My challenge to you again is as follows:

“Provide any evidence [or account] from Owo where the king claims to be of Bini origin or where the kingdom claims to have ever been under Benin”.

Clearly Owo (unlike Itsekiri, at al.) never used any of the Benin territorial titles (such as: “Ogiame”, “Enogie”, “Orodje”, etc.) for its monarchy at any time in the course of its history.

First, the word for “King”, etc. in Edo language is “Ogie” plain and simple. This is not an assumption. In fact it is you who must prove otherwise if you must insist otherwise. cheesy

But I’m quite glad that you’re quick to drop that “Ogie” = “Royalty” fraud. It seems you’re not willing to accept that the Oba’s wife is “Ogie”. grin

No, I think the gods of Yorubaland are driving you insane for calling your Obas (and their ancestors) various unprintable names just because they utterances does not agree with your inferiority complex.

“Ogie” is not “Prince”, rather “Ogie” is “King”.

Also “Ogie” is not “Duke”. “Duke” is a English concept alien to Benin but borrowed mindlessly by inferior Benin.

“Ogie” is simply the Edo word for “King”.

I hope you won’t finally commit suicide. cheesy

In any case, “Oba” is a Yoruba word for “King” which appeared suddenly in Edo lexicon and almost replaced the original indigenous Edo word for “King” completely.

Evidence for this dry joke or 600 years suffering for you.

But in the meantime, here is an interesting read for you:

https://www.nairaland.com/6087424/benin-ife-myth-shouldnt-circulated#93803726

Yes, “Oba” came to feature in the Edo language later courtesy of Yoruba, hence the reason why the word “Oba” has no monarch related meaning in the language of the Edo people except in Yoruba language.

Stop his fathers from answering their names which he later came to answer. grin

“Only the Benin rulers could correspond to the Yoruba “standard” in the Edo-speaking world ... [because] the Yoruba did not influence the political system of other Edo-speaking peoples ... whose rulers are not called Oba”. ~ Dmitri M. Bondarenko, 2003, p.71.

First of all the oba of Lagos till date still use his royal title alongside the word oba just as any Yoruba king. So, there was never any change. You’re imagining too much. grin

Open your cranium for the umpteenth time to understand that the Yoruba word oba is simply a common noun which applies to any Yoruba person who is “King”.

Whenever you see the word oba let your dry brain think of the word “king”. Simple!

The royal titles used alongside the Yoruba word for “king” (i.e. “Oba” ) — e.g. “Ooni”, “Alaafin”’ etc. are the proper nouns for the specific obas of specific kingdoms, just as the proper noun (or royal title) for the Benin oba is ”Omo N’Oba” (child of the king”).

““Ooni” is Oba of Ife” or “the Oba of Oyo is Alaafin”“ ~ Dmitri M. Bondarenko, 2003, p.71.

He clearly can’t stop his father from using the name which they permitted him to use from their own language.

I am waiting for evidence or 600 years.

Could this be the evidence I’ve been asking for?? wink

Started using ”Oba” or what did I just read??

How can Oba be an Edo word when it has no meaning in the Edo language except in the Yoruba language.

I have challenges you severally to present a sylllable-by-syllable translation of the word ”Oba” in the Edo language. Why are you s read?

Moreover, I have presented an example of 1800s use of the word “Oba” for the kings who own the word — the Yoruba kings.

No, if the list was made today just as it is shown in your attachment here without any mention of the first and last names of the obas; then it will still remain without the pre-fix “Oba” before the name.

Lol. The difference here is that you fraudulently included the actual names of the obas in which case your attachment didn’t.

If your attachment were to also include the actual names of those obas, then their names would of course be prefixed with oba because that is who they are.

The phrase “Oba of Benin” is not a traditional Benin tittle. The word “oba” for “king” in that phrase was introduced early to Benin, granted.

But the proper noun (or royal title) was and his traditionally “Omo n’Oba n’Edo” — just as his Oyo counterpart will have “Alaafin Oyo”.

Funny enough, I never said the titles would be necessarily for any king in Edo State — of course there are at least two different “Obas within Edo state.

So, my point was not about Edo State whic is a modern construct. My point was about territories that were traditionally ruled by Benin princes on behalf of the Oba of Benin — such territories may be found inside or outside of modern Edo state.

Also my point was not about the word “Ogie” alone. I gave a list which includes:

“Ogie”, “Ogiamien”, “Ogiame”, ”Enogie”, “Ovie”, “Orodje”, “Onojie”, etc.

This was never the case with any Yoruba-subgroup except the Itsekir. And interestingly, only the account of the Itsekiris confirm the Binis’ claim.
Show me a evidence to the time that list was compiled British refered to yoruba monarch as oba rather than

It would be

Ooni of ife, sir ogunmumy adeyeye and not

Ooni of ife oba, ademumu adeyeyeboy

If you oppose this send me evidence likewise to it were before the list was taking the British at any point called or adress the yoruba kings as obas
