Politics › Re: Tunde Bakare Is Also A Northerner. Buhari Has Messed Up. by hakanai(m): 3:05pm On Feb 03, 2011
Vice-presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Pastor Tunde Bakare, Wednesday dismissed rumours making the rounds that he hails from Ilorin, Kwara State, describing himself as a thorough-bred Egba man.

Rumours were flying that both presidential candidate of the CPC, General Muhammadu Buhari, and his running mate, Bakare, were Northerners, implying that theirs is a North-North ticket since Kwara State is located in the North-central zone of the country, while Buhari hails from Katsina in North-western part of the country.

While dismissing the insinuation as an outright falsehood, Bakare, who told THISDAY through a telephone conversation Wednesday night that he was a bonafide indigene of Abeokuta in Ogun State, added that he hails from Sodeke village in the state capital which was established by Sodeke, one of the founders of Egba in 1830.

Sodeke was one of the notable warriors in Yoruba land in the 19th century, whose fame and heroic acts brought glory to Egba community.

To establish the altruism of his claim, Bakare said he could trace his genealogy up to the fourth and even fifth generations of Egba, recalling that he even built a cenotaph in honour of the memory of Sodeke, his ancestor, which he said was inaugurated by the Ogun State government.

While explaining that both his father and mother were from Abeokuta, the cleric said his father built his house in Iporo, Sodeke in 1922 where he was born 55 years ago, adding that his father’s grave is still in the house “till today”.

Bakare said while his father is now dead, his mother, who is 110 years old, still lives in Abeokuta, saying “without prejudice to the good people of Ilorin”, he has no root whatsoever in the town as being rumoured.

Bakare. who also said he had his primary and secondary school education in Abeokuta, named the schools as All Saints Primary School, Kenta and Lisabi Grammar School, Idi Aba, both in the town, adding that he is well known as a full-fledged indigene of Egba by the Alake of Egba land, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, as well as the Olowu of Owu, Oba Dosunmu.

According to him, both monarchs can attest to his claim of Egba indigeneship. He also said among his school mates in Abeokuta is the incumbent governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel.

Bakare, who said his parents were Muslims from the outset, added that his mother only got converted in 1984, while his father died as a Muslim.

THISDAY also learnt that Bakare had once declared his ambition to run for the chairmanship of Abeokuta Local Government area of the state.

@hakanai, so you can detect the Religion of an Army Personnel with Uniform? You this Northern Militants with your illogical REDUNDANCY
You should have your fanatic and dilluted so called brain heavily composed of expended brain cells examined !!!I stated clearly a visit is wise.I know the ones i saw in Riyom about 3 checkpoints. 1 in marabah jama'a and alot on them in Bukuru.
In short one of them joined our bus to town and his story as a christian was a different thing all together.Blaming them alot has destroyed there spirit and wilingness even do more than orders given to them.
He told us how they had to shoot people where they didn't want to because they would not be peacefull and only want to take more lives.Mr Man you should ask the soldiers. They comprise xtian and muslims.Ask the group that suits you!
He admits they have killed more than the riots have killed in other to restore normalcy.he also admits this is one conflict he feels will continue because of sentiments.
he told me about an incidence that the papers reported.Which he said he was there when it happened and the media allocated blame to Musliim soldiers whilst he said a xtian soldier did the shooting and he knows the soldier. That it happened in a struggle, the soldier claimed.

Politics › Re: Zoning, Atiku - Northern Cabal Gets Behind Buhari by hakanai(m): 4:47pm On Feb 01, 2011
Look at you asking who is the cabal?Who other than the likes of anenih and co!don't act like you don't know. The cabal is not the name of Northerners or just northern elites Mr beaf.It applies to all criminal minded elites across the country and Obj,Anenih follow.
Instead of telling me to look at recent happenings.I will say about the cabal, it stands obvious GEJ likes the southern cabal and a few northern cabal.Which is natural some hate you and others like you. That is tested and verified with recent happenings, since he came to power.
Buhari had always jailed them when he had the chance.Take it or leave GEJ exibit alot of trust and butt leaking for his so called beloved cabals.Buhari never asked for the support of any elite, cabal or criminal minded fellows. He has always maintained his stance on free and credible elections where power truly and sincerely lies with the people. All the so called elite supports,Just trying to pitch camp because they lost.He never invited them.
In short the last i know he resisted the zoning arrangement and refuse to attend any gatherings with NPL or the opposite.
Rather Buhari also such time rather to solicite grassroot support and encourage voter participation.
That applies to Tunde Bakare and the SNG.more over Buhari and others alike all stood there ground to protect the rights of GEJ.under the zoning crisis, transfer of power.
Doing what is right is all that matters now.Last i checked GEJ was still calling his buddy the criminal/cabal member Atiku to come and chair or participate in his conquest plan during the elections. GEJ doesn't need the elite he needs the people!!!!!

Beaf:
What point exactly are you trying to make?
If they have a right to rally behind anybody they choose, would it not be because that person would serve their interests?
You people keep mentioning names like clark, even when facts on the ground are glaring. Did you witness the elections in Delta state? You would have seen it in stark light that Clark has nothing to do with GEJ. Same goes for some of the others.
Put away formulaic arguments that lead nowhere, and deal with the fact that the cabal see's Buhari's tent as a hiding place.

The singular fact is that the Ciroma's, Kaita's, Yakasai's, Kanti Bello's etc are the number one problem in Nigeria right now. If they group behind any candidate, they too become the number one problem in the country.
My friend pull your head outta GEJ or is SAMBO's azz and smell the change and freshness.Look around and please tell me Clark has not advocated, transversed and threatening the nation, how come you fail to respond to the issue of Anenih? Noticeably the key supporters of GEJ are criminals and same goons who raped this country before and in the last 12 years. SNG bribe,Okah concept took a twist and we know!so take that righteous crap story away.Alot wrong has being done in his name GEJ and ministers are still free.Any investigations ongoing ? huh
I may like GEJ for some of his ideals and qualities as much as Buhari for alot too.The issue is you as a person always like to make GEJ look better than he knows. When he is lacking you should not bury the issues.criticize him so he gets up and does the right thing. But because of your sycophancy and blind support, you hardly tell him more than ensuring he is doing good and creating spiritual stories of people after him.Don't forget Abacha too soon!na so e start.Today GEJ is PRESIDENT of NIGERIA and we need not tell him he is responsible for the numerous failures. We can't wait forever. undecidedWhat he plans to do, please start.Atleast baba go-slow only attend to issues as they suit him but sometimes more timely than GEJ
He has being in PDP and has never stood for change and this same nation got to this level. The blaming excuse is silly. It is glaring He continues to butt leak. The so called expended criminals are even coming back fulll strength. Obj was almost losing grounds in PDP and today he is father most,Anenih lost out during BOT struggle/Governor struggle in EDO with Obj and today? Lar -Dariye and Plateau revenue,Mantu same third term goon and legislative bagco bag champion who has lost in plateau,Jerry Gana hhmm!!! remind me about MAMSER and his years of corruption under IBB/Obj.Abba Aji mmhhh Mr UMYA never left a letter,Abba Gana we know what he did to Abuja and his billions.About the Governors(Daniel,Isa yuguda,Shema) its still going on the looting that they made a pact just to continue unmolested etc.Personally i take it Suswan has done well for Benue
What is it that you find hard to see. shocked Support but keep it correct and stop harsing others to forcefully accept your views on GEJ even when he is wrong.Always Attacking other contenders.why? why? Is it So GEJ looks good in the midst of lingering failures! shocked
Praise his achievements all you want but leave others alone with your propaganda and lies. Before na Atiku and since GEJ don win primaries na the others.

It will not work, the ploy to designate Buhari a religious fanatic just cheat again during election.

This is what John Campbell had to say while refering to Buhari:
"If he were to win, it would be a pretty good indication that the elections were indeed free, fair and credible," says Campbell. "There would be a strong emphasis on attacking corruption and that would be quite popular."

I didn't see the other wrong impression people (eg beaf) often attach to his person. undecided

My guy thank you. When people talk common sense people will jump up with there religious conquest ideology looking for some upper hand over the other. angry
Right now i don't care any longer as i can tell the rainbow crap is not going to work but only legalize the same armed militias that have being killing all this while in there various community. The Governor today can not even have a talk with the other side because of his extreme hate for them and he calls himself a leader.Generalizing will not help anyone but only unite people on the bases of fighting for survival, Even where there is no need for that.
Here is a typical mind set,Support Jang anyway even if he is not performing else the Muslims get to win !!!! huh sounds Good i believe for the fanatic xtian. Declare a state of emergency and Jang goes, even if he  is building roads or the xtians win.muslim fanatic huh so much trash clogged up in peoples head.
Jos is nothing but a typical state where everyone is judged or valued by his religious status.forget tribe, it only applies for political gains.
For me stop sending soldiers as all they get is a lesson on discrimination and extremism.Must people In Jos residence are so fanatic that brother the Taliban and earlier crusaders would bow.
Mr Jang stop crying.Your people and the state needs you to lean on.How many times have this same ladies stopped there own youths from lynching or killing someone.charity beginnings at home.If only all the ladies ensured there children did the right thing, In there numbers rather than strip nake and cause more disgrace, things would have being better. If they call for the replacement of the Soldiers they are doing them a favour. The few i have met in that town, pray for this to happen and behold they could be replaced. What is there for them rather than sentiments and blaming.
For others that keep spewing crap, can anyone categorically say all of them are muslims? abi na fake xtians dey!I was in Jos on xmas day and i saw alot more xtians in the ranks of the army at most check points i passed.especially in the Southern part where they complain of more attacks.I believe a visit should prove that.
Nothing is wrong in peace and harmony except this so called people(Muslims and xtians) in Jos.The Tourism is there and the peace is pending.
That land you fight is there before you and shall be there after you. What matters is how you spend your time here.I wonder what lived in Jos 20000 years ago.A time will come that all this will be of no use to you all.
Later the Muslim may start calling for the Mopol and Police to be changed completely.I remember how they(Muslims and xtian groups) insisted the former CP and GOC be removed!behold the peace is stilll pending!!!! shocked Why is that ?
They are never sincere and Judge only on religious sentiments.
FG has a duty to save lifes and so many have being lost.Deal with this correctly and don't listen to there trash be it Muslims or Xtians. You owe the real innocent people that, especial people killed so far. cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry

He went further to try tribalism and regionalism by threaten to deal with people who do not vote someone of there on region. So far so good the north in many ways have shown neutrality than your fellow brothers in the ND have shown.

people saying they do not support, need to be in Jos to acknowledge the importance of this order. undecided In that poo hole called J-town life is so cheap taking it is like taking break fast.It is a wild wild west.Do you know without the orders already, is systematically in place to cub alot of possible large scale onslaught on the innocent. The muslim and xtian groups in Various communities are ready to commit genocide on a large scale.
The violence can be started over little issues as siting smoke going high.A family trying to pack for a trip and it is simply misunderstood as relocating for safety from an up coming fighting.Instantly the next rival person nearest is lynched to death and burnt.Only if a security operative is there and shooting em up.If such security operatives wait for clearance to use brute force,The devastation becomes horrible and within minutes you can't imagine the loss.Even the residence beg for shoot to kill, when such fights are triggered.Only then would people go home and remain at home and anybody outside knows he is out to be killed.
I was there after xmas and brother i tell you a shoot to kill order is only what grantees instant return to normalcy.Arms are everywhere and its getting really worst and dangerous.Forget this soft heart thing. For me Jos has no law and order and the State hardly is working. The Governor is non existent and hardly can control poo.People are so like divided, that it is like rival nations in state. undecided
Some areas as your leg enter,na the end be that. They are so fond of killing themselves that they have no remorse and no ounce of sympathy or interest in reconciliation.
For now anyone loving peace hardly can get any in JOS.I tell you to enter Jos requires an up to date map identifying your friendly ares and not to go areas.forget it i weep for what Jos has become and i wish it.May God forgive us all.But i doubt if they in JOS will see heaven if what we hear about God is true. Both xtians and Muslims that is.  undecidedforget sentiments. They are animals and cold blooded killers.aspiring genocidal maniacs. cry angry From secret instigation to the committing of such violence is what they are good at.Inclusive of the government. This is one year and still counting and the lives and property are still being destroyed. angry I want to even know the long term plans the government have to manage this situation.except if they have no regards for the populace. huh
Politics › Shoot-to-kill Orders Issued In Nigeria After Riot In Jos by hakanai(op): 5:08pm On Jan 18, 2011
Shoot-to-kill orders issued in Nigeria after riot

(AP) – 17 hours ago

LAGOS, Nigeria (AP) — Soldiers patrolling Nigeria's volatile central region received shoot-to-kill orders after a Christian mob killed a Muslim election worker and set his body on fire, an army spokesman said Tuesday.

The death Monday in Jos, a flashpoint of religious tension between Nigeria's two dominant religions, comes as technical problems continue to plague the nation's effort to register 70 million eligible voters before a crucial April presidential election.

The new orders in Jos allow soldiers to kill anyone trying to hurt another person or destroy a home, church or mosque in the city and surrounding areas, Capt. Charles Ekeocha said. The military has been a dominant presence in the city since violence began there last year that has left more than 500 dead.

"The best option is to make sure you stop the person," Ekeocha told The Associated Press. "Even if it means taking the person's life, it is OK."

The attack Monday began after election workers decided to move a registration point without informing the joint military and police task force in the city, the captain said. A Christian mob gathered, upset by the fact that workers handling the registration were Muslims.

Witnesses to the attack said another two people died when soldiers opened fire to try and protect the other election workers nearby. The military has denied shooting into the mob, though soldiers have shot and killed civilians before over the past year.

The worker was a member of the Nigeria's National Youth Service Corps, a required yearlong program for university graduates in the oil-rich nation. The government created the program in 1973 as a means to bridge the religious, regional and ethnic divisions in Nigeria after its brutal civil war ended in 1970. Those divisions persist today.

Many university students in Nigeria find few job opportunities after graduation. Staffing the two-week voter registration offers the youths a guaranteed payout of $200 for 14 days of work, said Kayode Idowu, a spokesman for the nation's electoral commission. World Bank statistics suggest more than 80 percent of people in Nigeria, a country of 150 million people, earn less than $2 a day.

Idowu declined to comment about the death, saying the commission had yet to receive an official report on the killing. He said security wasn't an issue at other locations in the country and that providing protection at each of the roughly 120,000 registration points would be impossible.

"The police don't have enough manpower to cover every single polling unit," he said.

The April elections include a presidential poll in which President Goodluck Jonathan will face opponents from minor parties. Jonathan is a member of the ruling People's Democratic Party, the only force with the money, political connections and muscle necessary to manipulate an election.

International observers called the 2007 election of the late President Umaru Yar'Adua rigged, even though it represented the first civilian-to-civilian transfer of power in the nation's history.

Registration began slowly, as the Saturday start date saw numerous reports of problems with the laptops, digital cameras, printers and fingerprint scanners the government bought for $230 million. Registration in many places has improved, though potential voters complain about long waits and problems with the fingerprinting process. Even well-known figures, like former President Olusegun Obasanjo, have been turned away after the machines failed to work.

In the northeastern Nigerian city of Maiduguri, election officials have been registering voters with paper and pen as 200 sets of the equipment were found to malfunction. Six other areas around Borno state have yet to receive the equipment at all.

Associated Press writers Ahmed Saka in Jos, Nigeria and Njadvara Musa in Maiduguri, Nigeria contributed to this report.

well i would say you are right on that one!!! not totally sha!! i won't rush to say the president knows without facts, real facts.you see alot of times people would not look at your own view to the recent explosions.simply because they either support GEJ or something. For me it could be either GEJ camp or the Atiku camp which ever, its all PDP affair and i am not surprised.
If GEJ is not guilty lets conclude the okah fact finding.start by suspending people accused by Okah to allow for proper investigations.I mean GEJ executive staffs as implicated eg ND minister, this minister is the equivalent of UMYA minister of Agriculture. Will do anything to ensure his oga remain even doing the illegals for him.while GEJ turns away and stays clear.
GEJ simply is PDP and PDP know just how well to reach the areas of differences for them retain power.Call it political marketing!
GEJ can't probe his cabinet members suspected and would rather defend them. making him an obstruction to justice.GEJ can't probe shit.first bomb last bomb and continous.why? it helps him which ever way.he acts the victim!but i tell yah he is definately not,he is a wicked play like the others. The true victims are the ones in hospitals and in the graves. Not a failure like him! shocked That is who he is!can't provide security to the people. undecided

BUHARI WILL STAMP OUT CORRUPTION AND TAKE IT A LITTLE HIGHER FOR THE FASHOLAS,RIBADUS,DUKES AND THE UTOMIS TO HAVE A STRONG FOUNDATION TO FINALLY MAKE NIGERIA A GREAT NATION.
Gbam gbam gbam!!!!! I think this is it! we need to tackle the goons championing our future towards destruction and making monies out of public purse. If that is done and a foundation layed to reverse our steady decline then someone younger can move this nation with greater vision.Voting GEJ or PDP is a vote for continous destruction of Naija i tell you.continuty of corruption and all negative, anti Nigeria programs. It is about a wicked people in a wicked political party trying to kill a nation and her people period.PDP has no excuse for what the nation has become and the so called GEJ has being apart of it all this time. Not in his state not in ND and not in Naija has he made anything new.12 years of PDP and billions of revenue and foreign debts mismanaged.what excuse do they have and what vision.with this much years PDP don get degree by now for what ever they are studying/degree and that is bad!!!

I have sat back and read countless and numerous threads about  the US intervening in Nigeria if there is a crisis here. I am sorry to burst the bubble but the US WILL NOT INTERVENE. Their congress would never allow the president send troops to Nigeria because of what? Would we be the only country in chaos? In iraq they had to lie with WMD, in Afghanistan they said they wanted to pursue Osama bin laden, what is the business of the American people in Nigeria? These wars have cost America huge amounts of money and china has sat back and laughed their arse off, now america has serious debt issues a failing economy and some of you think they would commit american lives to come and intervene here? PUHLEEEEZE!

So can we carry on our discussions without saying US invasion is imminent, GEJ or not life would continue in this country if our brothers in the north decide to blow themselves up, we would just be tagged like another somalia. Shikena!
reason i like people like you, is because you state the obvious. We either fix it or suffer for it.I am from the north and would love to live in peace with any of my southern brothers.I pray also that the relationship is strengthen and not destroyed Insha Allah.May the enemies of the state fail and may the will of the people for lasting peace prevail. But If the will of the people points to separation, i hope it is done peacefully.!!!!

The Human Rights Writers' Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has called for the creation of a commission under the presidency to coordinate religious dialogues among Nigerians.

The association made the call in Abuja on Tuesday in a statement signed by its national coordinator, Emmanuel Onwubiko, and director, media affairs, Zainab Yusuf, asking that the commission should be empowered to identify those who always sponsored religious and political violence for prosecution and punishment at the specially created anti-terrorism tribunal.

The group also urged the Federal Government to immediately probe allegations from several quarters that some members of the current military task force were allegedly compromised and were active collaborators with the armed attackers.

The group blamed government for the continuous mass murders in the state, saying "it has clearly shown total lack of political will to decisively deal with the well known patrons and sponsors of the previous violent unrests in that state."

It also called on President Goodluck Jonathan to "seriously look at workable ways and means of tackling the violence in Plateau, because it has the dangerous domino effects of spreading to other parts of the country, including the nation's capital."

Legal points

The association appealed to the Chief Justice of Nigeria and the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Adoke, to actively lobby the National Assembly to pass the pending anti-terrorism bill into law.

It said the bill should entail a provision for the creation of a special anti-terrorism tribunal with stiff penalty of life jail to be handed to convicted offenders.

The group condemned what it termed ‘a slap on the wrist,' and ‘friendly sentences' handed down by the Federal High Court, Jos division, to some suspected culprits in the previous crises in Jos.

"It is inconceivable that some of those prosecuted for the previous violent killings in parts of Plateau were awarded lenient sentences of less than five years by a Federal High Court judge in the Jos division," it said.

"This explains the reason why such dastardly acts of gruesome mass murder of innocent Nigerians will continue; so far as the perpetrators are assured of lenient judicial sanction by the courts, if caught and prosecuted."

The group also expressed its belief that the perpetrators of the violent killings believe that their political godfathers are so well connected in high places and that their trial in the law courts can be compromised, so as to obtain soft treatment.

A group called JAMA'ATU AHLUS-SUNNAH LIDDA'AWATI WAL JIHAD late on Monday, claimed the responsibility for the attack in Jos.
