Argument transfered from d U23 thread: Rabiu Ibrahim vs Omatsone Aluko, Who is more suitable to play behind Ighalo? Or which other player is more suitable for d "number 10" role?
Cc: forgiveness, TheGoodJoe.
Oga forgiveness, I dnt know whether u are still seeing Rabiu Ibrahim in d light of his U17 performance. That guy never lived up to his potentials. Successive coaches have given him d chance to exhibit his greatness. But he has always been average.
I still dnt understand Oliseh's preference of Igboun over Aluko. Aluko to me is currently the best player dat can play behind Ighalo.Aluko has consistently had above average performances each time he plays for d Eagles. A South African friend onced asked me y Aluko has nt been playing for ur country. He remembers Aluko as d player dt scored 2 goals to earn Nigeria a 2-2 draw against South Africa in Uyo. I simply told him Oliseh's pyopic policy of nt fielding players hu are nt in top division. And he told me we are enemies of our own progress.
Some may want to say Iheanacho or Iwobi. Yes we know these 2 are talented bt i cannot jst yet say they are fully prepared for the national team challenge till mayb after the Olympics experience. |

forgiveness: The reason i am happy Siasia is now the coach is because he does not go after mediocre players and he will call up many players from diaspora. Sure banker! Apart from that, he is a better coach than Oliseh. Fact.
As for new players, i think Ikeme is still the number one goal keeper. Echiejile no 3, Moses Odubanjo 2, Balogun/Akokoyo 5 and Kenneth Omerue/Otigba, in the midfield we have Mikel and Onazi while Moses Simon and Victor Moses will play from the wings then Ighalo and Rabiu Ibrahim leads the attack. My opinion. Ighalo and Rabiu Ibrahim lead d attack. Rabiu Ibrahim |

Caspian22: HOW WILL THE SUPER EAGLES WILL LINE UP UNDER SIA SIA!?
Samson siasia has taken over as the current super eagles coach. Let me just get to the point of how we expect the next super eagles line up to be. Here are so important things to take note of in his new team.
1. A local based goalkeeper Yes, I don't really think he'll like Carl ikeme. He might choose to give s change to Daniel Emmanuel who we all know was very impressive at the Afcon U23. Dele alampasu will also be given his chance too.
2. Daniel Ekpolo might be given a cap. Ever since siasia took charge of the U23 he has been calling this guy up.
3. SiaSia loves Isaac success. We all know he always call this guy up and talks a lot about him.
4. Many players in diaspora will be called up.. Don't worry siasia will call up every foreign born player. He is the only coach that scouts abroad well.
5. Mikel will play a big part in his new team. Also Expect Mikel to get more useful under his former coach. Expect the return of Victor moses too.
So in view of all this let me mention the First XI that might be lined up under siasia.
Daniel Emmanuel;
Sincere Seth: Kenneth omeruo; Godfrey Oboabona; Kingsley Madu.
Mikel Obi: Azubuike Okechukwu ; Iwobi
V. Moses; Ighalo; Ahmed Musa
This is just my opinion... I would like to here urs.. tell us the new players we can expect in the SE and your suspected lineup under siasia.
cc: tbaba forgiveness TheSuperNerd BascoVanVeli Joseph1013 safarigirl icon4s terzurum AIG07 Well, talking abt d team that will face the Pharoahs of Egypt: Carl Ikeme would likely still b our first choice goalie. Emmanuel Daniel alongside other home based goalies likely to b called up. To ur defense line: Sincere Seth in the Super Eagles 11? Me think the likes of Balogun, Ambrose, Echiejile, Obaobona and Omeruo would likely still b in d team. Kingsley Madu may also b called up. I dnt really know to what extent Siasia values Chima Akas, he too could b given a call up. We also expect to see 1 or 2 young invitees hu may nt necessarily make starting 11 yet bt b part of d rebuilding project. Mikel and Onazi would always make Siasia's midfield.Wilfred Ndidi may b invited to provide cover for Onazi. I think Sone Aluko is worthy of a call back. Both Victor and Simon Moses are expected to b in d frame of things. Ahmed Musa and Odion Ighalo also expected in d team. Iheanacho likely to get a call up. Martins would likely finally go into retirement bc i believe Siasia would prefer to invite Isaac Success as a second striker to Ighalo. Chisom Chikatara, hu now plays for Raja Casablanca, may also be invited. Imoh Ezekiel and Alex Iwobi may also b called up. As AIG07 rightly said, i fear for Silvester Igboun. |

BascoVanVeli: very crazy indeed, i tell u what Nigerian football would be a great reality tv show we might outrate the Kardashian's lol. The question now is where do we go from here? The NFF needs to pull a trick out their bags because this could spell doom. I just wonder out loud if Oliseh didn't chicken out because he feared what would happen if he lost to Egypt, or maybe he wants the NFF to beg him like they did Keshi. Speaking of Keshi At short notice he seems one of the best options. IMO Amodu should come in as a care taker coach. Application should be thrown open to all coaches around the world (for sake of due process). However, Siasia may b given the advantage to b appointed as next Eagles coach after d Olympics in August. |

BlackAlbino6: Dosu: “I Didn’t Know About Golden Goal Until Kanu Scored One To Beat Brazil At Atlanta ’96” https://d1bez7r3o7wd77.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/image-53.jpeg
Former Super Eagles goalkeeper and Atlanta '96 Olympic football gold medalist, Joseph Dosu, speaks to Complete Sports' radio show, Sports Planet's anchorman, TUNDE KOIKI, reliving the glorious feat of Nigeria's U-23 team 20 years ago. Sports Planet: Joseph Dosu (MON), it’s an honour and a pleasure finding time to talk to you again. 2016 will make it twenty years since you and your teammates climbed the podium in Atlanta and picked up the gold medal. Till date, that remains Nigeria’s greatest ever football achievement but first, let me even ask you, where is your gold medal?
Joseph Dosu: I have it in the bank and it’s an achievement which every one of us will never forget. It’s an achievement that has kept Nigeria going, likewise Africa. It is also an achievement that has kept our children and even the unborn ones going. And I think we made Nigeria proud, likewise Africa. Anytime my son comes home and remembers the Olympics, he is always proud of himself, talk less of me.
So, if we have left a legacy for Nigeria and Africa, we the actors should be happy. Twenty years, wow! That’s a long time. I would have wished other dream teams had achieved the same feat like the first Olympic team, but then, we’ve kept on struggling. We hope one day, they will surely achieve the same feat so that much of this interview will go away from us and they will be the current Olympic champions. However, all said and done, it has also opened a lot of doors for us that participated in the Atlanta '96 Olympic Games. It’s an honour to put on the green-white-green jersey. We’ve done our best and most of us have retired from playing football and I think we will keep going.
This was actually my next question. You are Joseph Dosu (MON), Olympic gold medalist. Very few Nigerians can ever claim to be Olympic gold medalists. What would you say that honour has done for your career as a person?
Well, I had a short career in football, but I tell you, for six or seven years that I played the game, I was blessed by God. Successfully, I played in the local league where I won both the league and FA Cup, put on the green-white-green jersey, played in the Africa Cup of Nations and World Cup qualifiers, won the Olympic gold medal, played in Europe as a professional.
It might have been a little time of playing football for me, but then, I achieved a lot. Winning the Olympic gold medal and having an Olympic tag was not just by our own making, it had been destined by God, for sure. We will get there. A lot of people want to go to the Olympic Games and say yes, I was there which is not a do or die affair when it comes to representing your country. When it comes to Olympic competition, if you should win a medal – be it gold, silver, bronze, I think you’ve done so well for yourself. Winning a gold medal is not an easy task, but then, we had the support of Nigerians behind us because when we were leaving, we were only tagged the dreamers and not the dream team.

The only reason i stayed up so late to watch the full 90mims of the Manunited vs Midtyy..land (abeg some1 help me out) was to assess Paul Onuachu. The guy was easily d tallest player on d pitch. Though nt much blessed with speed bt posseses some fairly good dribbling skills though nt so sharp. He reminds me of Victor Okechukwu Agali. A tactically sound coach would really know how to utilise a player of this nature. I think he has stamina issues which may b height related and that may b connected also to y he usually comes in as a sub. Omo see how Blind and Rojo became dwarfs beside him He would do well in a team like Stokes City.

Nigeria’s Isaac Success has been named second most fielded forward under the age of 21 in the top European leagues, according to a CIES Football Observatory report.
The Granada hitman comes just behind Manchester United’s Anthony Martial and ahead of Stuttgart’s Timo Werner, Troyes’ Corentin Jean and Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman in the top five.
A former FIFA U17 World Cup winner with Nigeria, Isaac has been a regular starter with the Spanish side this season where he has made 21 starts in 23 appearances with a four goals tally.
Isaac, 20, has grabbed the attention of English Premier League side Watford where he is being touted as replacement for compatriot Odion Ighalo who is likely to depart for greener pastures at the end of the season. https://ssportsng.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Isaac-Success-e1455875893214.jpg In the other categories, Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin led the most-fielded full backs, Maximillian Meyer of Schalke led the attacking midfielders list while Leon Goretzka of Schalke, Niklas Sule of Hoffenheim and Gianluigi Donnarumma made the defensive midfielders, centre backs and goalkeepers lists respectively. http://brandiqng.com/index.php/2016/02/23/nigerias-isaac-is-second-most-fielded-under-21-forward-in-europe/ Good playing time & I feel he would achieve more in d EPL. I jst feel his time to shine is getting closer and closer. Hoping Ighalo moves to a top 4 team and Succes bcomes his authomatic replacement. Success has what it takes to perform better dan what Ighalo did at Watford. |

Let us give him a chance first before we write him off. Nobody is writing him off. The coach will select whom so ever he wants to select. I am jst saying in my opinion we need him more with our U20 as we have a long list of U23 strikers who are also doing great. Do me a favor and be fair. Siasia says Ighalo is going to Rio. Name 2 other center forwards who are U23 that you feel will join Ighalo. (Teams usually go with 2 or 3 Centre Forwards). And permit me to say that baring any injuries Isaac Success will likely make it. U know how difficult African defenses are? Ask d likes of Yaya Toure, Javinho, Bony, Andre Ayew and co. Sadiq Umar would be better utilized in U20 team. forgiveness: Bros, you don come again oooo. So, you mean Chisom is ahead of Sadiq Umar huh? See my brother. Age and maturity play a vital role in a player's performance. I cannot tell u straight away hu is better btw Chikatara and Sadiq Umar bc of so many reasons. One thing u guys need to understand is d more matured a player is the more his ability to adapt into d frame of things. U saw how physical and tight defenses were at d CHAN; do u think players like Victor Osimhen, Taiwo Awoniyi and Sadiq Umar would have found it easy with those defenses? Sadiq Umar may b more talented than Chikatara bt Chikatara would b more ready to face d U23 competition than Sadiq. Sadiq, Osimhem, Ezeh & Awoniyi are all talented young players bt i personally feel they may nt b able to face d U23 challenge. We have U20 qualifiers coming up and we need them in the U20 camp. By 2020 Olympics they would have been fully matured U23 players. We are nt lacking quality fire power from our players hu are aged 20-23. Siasia has even announced Ighalo as part of his Olympic plans and dat even makes it more competitive. Then another thing is u may believe bc player A plays in Europe and Player B players in Nigeria then player A is authomatically better dan player B. It does nt often follow that way when it comes to young players. Sadiq may have had d opportunity early enough and Chikatara may nt have had dat opportunity. Something of this nature sparked off an earlier argument btw me and some pple here abt Junior Ajayi vs Taiwo Awoniyi. |

My 4-2-3-1 goes like this Defenders;Onazi, Mikel; Musa, Iheanacho(playing directly behind d lone striker), Moses(either V. Or S); Ighalo. Then Iwobi, success, n others could just be a cover up. BascoVanVeli: I don't get ur reasoning, are u saying that Iheanacho can't at worst be an impact sub? Success should take Igboun's spot, don't forget he is a winger in Granada so with him the coach has a flexible player. Success take Igboun's spot? U forget we still have Victor Moses, Ahmed Musa and Simon Moses as AM/Wingers in that team.U guys clamoured for Martins ahead of Succes and he is in d team. And all of a sudden u forget Martins is a backup for Ighalo. The Success u talk abt has nt even debuted for d Super Eagles. Abeg for now he is a surplus requirement. As for Iheanacho he is goin to play a second feadle to Igboun if we play a 4-5-1 formation. Depending on the direction in which the game would go, we may nt need to introduce Iheanacho hu now fits in more in a 4-4-2 formation. We may only need to switch to 4-4-2 if we need to. Besides, if d 2 Moseses (Victor and Simon) and Musa show up & we chose to switch to 4-4-2 i would rather Musa joins Ighalo and d 2 Moseses play as wingers rather than bring in Iheanacho into a game of such magnitude. I have always maintained that national team football is different from club football.Iheanacho had a disappointing Super Eagles debute (I am nt ruling him out simply bc of that, bt first impressions matter a lot).I would prefer players that are tested at national level for a game like that. By and large, while i may jst reluctantly accept dat Iheanacho can b with d Super Eagles, Isaac Success should b with the U23. |

BascoVanVeli: Iheanacho and Success should get called up for Egypt, that is the match that matters and our best should be there. U know Success has never been invited to d Super Eagles. It even looks more unlikely now considering d forms of Ighalo and Martins. Iheanacho even if invited may end up being an unused substitute. Success and Iheanacho are nt yet "our best" as u put it, so Oliseh can gentle-manly release them to Siasia. |
