Any money I see from now on I will just leave this shit hole Country for good.

There are no signboard of government acquisition, not everyone knows where to go about these things, this is my second land investment going down the drain
Part of me understands what you are saying. But if you had went to the town property office or whatever it is called in your area and they told you it wasn't owned by the government, I would agree. But you didn't do your due diligence and it cost you. It's akin to you buying land that I owned and putting property on it. I would demolish it as well and reclaim my land. The person who sold you the land cheated you, and I would pursue that avenue after you exhaust your efforts in 1.)ensuring that the land does in deed belong to the government and 2). that it is a legit notice.

Draslo:
I'm not going to bore you with an epistle.

We dated between 2016-17. We had a mutual break-up cause I went to Ghana for a bit (5 months. I needed a change of scenery). We spoke and chatted at intervals before we both ghosted each other. I heard she got married to a big shot Abuja guy in 2019.

Fast forward to Saturday evening this past weekend, I got a message on Instagram from her. Long story short, she opened a beauty spa in Abuja in December. She wants me to help her manage it. She knows I have my commitments in Lagos but wants to take advantage of the fact that I visit Abuja once or twice a month. She proposes that I can come only on weekends since my weekdays are almost fully engaged, ensure her books are balanced and she'll pay for my return flight every Friday. I asked if her husband is aware of who I am. She stuttered and I just knew he doesn't. She will pay well but it's not about the money. It's more like granting a favour but I feel she's got an ulterior motive somewhere. And me, I have a soft spot for her and my flesh is very, very weak.

Do you think I'm right? Or maybe I'm just being paranoid?

Modified.
I'm sorry to say but many of you reason like kids. I have no intention of sleeping with her. I'm principled never to sleep with any of my exes. Do you have any idea how many women are on this planet? What is wrong with the lot of you? I just find it hard to turn her down because she's such a good person.
This story. Use your wisdom. You already know the answer.
I laughed a little when you said "she's such a good person." Yeah? So, her husband knows that she is asking her ex to fly in and help manage a business he most likely seeded? Ok. She should have at the least told her husband who you were, and you as a "friend" should have advised her to. What's ironic is you modified your post with "many of you reason like kids." smh.

1.) Did you not read the part where I said she is(was) not a nice person?
2.) She is(was) not cheap. It was money I needed for expenses just for that week(visiting her). I was in Lagos that time for 3 weeks. I gave it back the next day. You can do the math.
3.) All that glitters is not gold.

My own opinion on this isn't about asset or liability thing but the heart the lady carry towards that rlship.my gurl 1s assisted me with 55k just to prevent me from shame.and now if i ask her 5k she might not be able to afford it.so depending on d quick funding wn d need comes up can't be used as a guarantee or measurement of either an asset or liability but the heart that carry purpose to which d rlship stands.we might not have the physical cash, but are willing to help if we are capable of doing so.
Agreed. I've dated a woman who while we were at dinner transferred 500k into my account because I told her I was stressed, fighting with my bank all day (account verification issues) and so didn't have cash. Despite an ability to throw money around, she wasn't a nice person. She was really really not a nice person. And I've dated a woman, who didn't have as much(not the same opportunities), but had a heart of gold and brought me so much peace. Assets vary.

Xenry:
Most of our nigerian girls are liabilities (only few are assets), any girl who takes and do not give is a liability

So my question is, if you run out of cash today or tomorrow, can your girlfriend assist you with at least 5k? Supposing you need it for urgent reason(s).

If she can't assist you with that, then she probably is a liability.

For me, I love dating Assets, and not Liabilities. Mine couldn't do that because she doesn't have it, so she's a liability.

That's why I ghosted and dropped her, now I'm looking for an asset.

Now, over to you, can your girlfriend assist you with at least that amount of money if you run out of cash today or tommorow?

Because if she can't, then she probably is a liability.
I don't necessarily agree with your whole point but if I'm in a serious relationship and a woman doesn't have 5k in their account to lend me/give me(that's relative to your income), that's a huge red flag. My partner has to be wise with money whether it's over spending or just not having it.
Romance › Re: Why Did You Breakup With Your Ex? by IjeBos(m):
Last ex was too comfortable with me spending on her and very uncomfortable spending anything herself. She was gorgeous so I'm 100% sure she'll meet a guy who's comfortable with that as well. Ended that.

The ex before was successful and brilliant. But wanted to convince me that business meetings(1 on 1) starting at 9pm and ending at 2amish were normal. I understood to a degree given her industry(not a lot of women in Nigeria do what she does) but also thought they should be rare. She called me insecure.. (a whole me) hmm. As a compromise I asked her just to give me a heads up especially if it required a flight somewhere (flying out in the evening to meet a client(Abuja,PHC,etc) and returning the next morning). We argued, she eventually agreed and cut back on them. That whole experience left a bitter taste in my mouth though. It left me feeling controlling that I had to even ask that. I also questioned whether she would resent me at some point if she felt I stifled her business. Combined with other issues, decided we had different values. Ended it.

This is a non-sequitur. I'll eat a nice steak tonight in the US and I also don't have to worry about cows destroying my property. I don't believe anyone has said the Fulani's should stop raising cattle. But if they are going to raise cattle they should respect the property rights of everyone else. It's a private business that they want everyone else to subsidize by force.
If cows are that important to the country, the Fed. government should subsidize ANYONE who wants to go into cow raising so that they can maintain their own private ranches or set up dedicated areas where they can graze which those raising the cows pay some fee. But, a country can't exist if there are super citizens(in this case maybe not even citizens) who don't have to obey property rights.

It's online so I will not expose much at least I know someone who is giving the vaccine, and can tell you that it's the most connected that are getting it first.

I only needed to register as a frontline worker myself and was called up to receive in a sane clime. So I am not writing for myself.

How come you register online give your private details of job and medical problems, and then still have to go to a venue uninvited, blindly and unsure if you will be given. The online portal should ideally be able to invite people based on biodata, since that what the message said in the first place.
Yeah, that doesn't make sense. And in that confusion is where the money changes hands. But then, it's Nigeria, and we should know what to expect when expecting the Govt. to run competently or efficiently. Leaders matter. A friend of mine stood up the vaccine program/site in his hospital during the Trump admin. He was stressed and aghast at the lack of information and help the Fed government had given them. Incompetence in govt. unfortunately isn't solely a Naija problem.

Nigeria is a very corrupt country. Quite shameful that this is happening. You asked people to register, they did, and now you ask "front line workers" to turn up to vaccination centers. Big shame
You didn't expect there to be corruption with the vaccines? Even in the US, there was some corruption, but no doubt you'll see it on a grander scale in Nigeria. But they are right in prioritizing REAL front line workers and govt. officials.

You don't even know you're spewing Russian propaganda. The US Intelligence agencies put out a report and this was one element of the propaganda they wanted to push out (with the help of Trump's associate) to assist Trump during the election. That's why the first thing Putin said was "I wish him good health". He wanted to activate that propaganda he already placed in your head.

This is convoluted. Think back to the shooting at the Lekki tollgate.. that is what a world and Nigerian looks like with leadership from Trump. Authoritarian oligarchies, the same Russia has and the same he tried to implement in the US.

How much is dollar at black market, and how much is the bank's exchange rate? I don't think N5 incentive is enough for people to stop taking their dollar to the Aboki at black market
$1000 at bank rate = ~388, 000
$1000 at black market = ~480,000

Im sure you read where i wrote older siblings that were also children. What is older in a 4 and 2 year olds combined with twins. Are we not talking about 4kids here?

Sometimes Some women just want to hang on to that as an excuse. There is a type of business for every situation so lets be reasonable here. Even if the guy makes 200k a month, it will still be a struggle to raise triplets with such a salary howbeit 55k.

The guy should think outside the box and see how he can establish the woman to make side money on her own.
Stop this stuff. Some of you guys here sound like Neanderthals. Have you ever taken care of a child, let alone 3? There is no business a woman who has new born triplets should be doing, unless she has some type of help and even then that wouldn't be immediately. And if you are the type of man to expect that, that is a flaw in your character and a tacit acknowledgement that you are unable to stand up to your responsibility at that moment. Be better than this.

Channel your energy, time, finances on your kids. That woman will never give you happiness.
This is such a senseless post. You're talking 50% arbitrarily. If you made 10k and gave your wife 50%(5k) to support a family of 5, she should be satisfied? Obviously, no. Stop peddling this advice, it's not helpful to him or his relationship.

This has to be the most practical response I have read on this thread so far.

All they require for now is proper planning, and a more appreciative woman who is willing to join in that planning...
Any other thing is complete hogwash.
They do need to sit down and plan properly. But the OP isn't being realistic and he needs to be. He needs to appreciate that 25k is not enough for his wife to take care of the whole family for a month. And with that appreciation, he can be more understanding/patient of her frustrations. And that may make her less frustrated.

I agree with another poster, bring her into the process of how you distribute your salary. Consult her about what she thinks you should give your mom and whether or not it's the time to save. And honestly, I couldn't imagine my mom being ok taking 10k knowing I only make 55k and I have 3 kids.

The day Nigerian mails stop been foolish is the day all the water bodies on this earth dries up.

You can not eat your cake and have it. If you want to be a traditional man be a traditional man to the last and if you what to be modern then be modern to the core.

You want your wife to bring part of her income into the house while you don't help her with the house chores and at the same time demand maximum respect and submission from her. You want to mix all the benefits of having a traditional and modern marriage for yourselves all the while maintaining the traditional mode of marriage for your wives.

I am sorry but women are humans not remote controlled robots.
I would agree with you but there are some woman who want to have it both ways as well. They want to enjoy the benefits of a traditional man (a man pays for everything), yet want to be a modern woman (everything else is 50/50). I can't date a woman who is comfortable with me providing everything. That gives me too much power. There is no wisdom in that.

A woman once told me "my money is our money, hers is hers". Broke up with her the next day.

It is because unlike banks they dont demand collateral for their loans.

The high lending rate ia because the business is very very risky. Unlike banks who will sell the collateral to get their loan money back these loan app companies dont have that advantage.

They need to make a profit and still be able to meet obligations like staff salaries, etc.
I have a credit card(uncollateralized) in the US that has 10% APR and reasonably high borrowing limit. That's about a .83% monthly interest rate. I just think it's more so the Nigerian economic/credit/legal landscape, but I'm no expert.

Yeah, you can do that in the US as well. But a lot of people pay for convenience. I get unlimited data on my cell phone, but I still have broadband at home. Not judging whether it is economical or makes just sense. But his estimate is in line with US use cases.
