Family › Re: My Friend Needs Help, Six Children No Male Child? by ImaIma1(f): 12:00pm On May 16, 2022
Notyourtype:
Hello Guys,

Is it even possible to have up to six kids without having a male child?

I have a friend, who wanted to have only 4 kids. He's now counting six and will count more because he has refused to have a male child.

When the wife gave birth to the fifth child, then my friend was very anxious to having a male child. But as soon as the news got to him that his wife gave birth to another female child, he send a message to his wife at the hospital not to come to his house with the child. He said his wife has a curse on her, that is why she refused to give birth to a male child. We had to beg him before he allowed his wife home.

The issure now is that his wife just gave birth to the sixth child again today, and another female child. He his just very confused right now.

He just told me now that people says the fault his not from her wife but rather on his side. And he want me to help him on what the problem is.

Pls nlanders, what do you think is the problem, and how can he give birth to a male child?
A close friend of mine is the 10th girl. Her mum finally got the male child she desired at the 11th try. So tell your friend to keep trying. A boy will still come. It might be the 12th, but it will come..

Then talk to your spiritual advisers or your church members, borrow from a friend. You don't have to tell them what it is for. It's just 2,000. If you can't get from people you know, then you should consider waiting for JAMB next year. I don't think you are serious about it if it is Nairaland you are depending on for your tfare.

Since time is running out and you are not getting any help, maybe it is time to ask your parents, friends or loved ones, except you think forfeiting the exam is better than asking them to help.

When you decide to make such decision to do something on your own, you have to be able to fund that decision, and not depend on strangers to do it for you.

it's better a man control a lady than the other way. Men are generally matured and capable. But a women that want to control a man is always a wicked and bad woman.
You argument is flawed.

What makes men more mature than women?

Generally, women tend to mature faster than men. That's why you see a girl of 21 able to handle a home as a married woman. But a man at that age is still "mummying" around.

If we are talking about the irresponsible immature kind we see around, there are more than enough immature men to match them.

There is a level of beauty you will have in this life you will never be able to date anyone. It’s either the beauty will affect your ability to act sane or people will be afraid to take you seriously. All you will settle for is flings and admiration and you will be at the level for almost forever. Being a pretty girl or very handsome man is overrated , loneliness will almost kill you. A girl once told me it’s impossible for me to be single with the way I look and nothing could change her mind. Imagine every girl seeing you like that, who then will date you? Plus the fact that you most likely will be obsessed with yourself, life of a loner.

Sheddy5:
Story of how i comitted sucide, involving gambling, hard drugs and fraud, my name is davide but you can call me dave.

i've been living happily with my mum and dad since when i was a kid till i become a teen, i am the only child of my parents, life was so beautiful and sweet untill my dad and mum died through an ancident when coming back from a place unknow to me, my aunty took me as her responsibility, who happens to be my mum junior sister but she has her first daughter when she was 18 years old, though, she have 3 daughters presently and she is glad to have me stay with them so that i could wash her husband car and do all other malely chores in the house. After washing my uncle car i decided to clean the sitting room but to my surprise, the sitting room was totally clean and shiningg, so i decided to ask my cousin sister about it, when i get to her room, she was smiling looking deep into my eyes, she was my aunty first daughter and she is 4 years older than me, she is 19 years old.

Esther: are you surprise? I know you are.

Dave: that was part of my chores in this house and i wonder why you would help me on it because i know you and your sisters are happy to have a slave as cousin called dave in this house...

Esther: hey hold it! I wouldn't help you if am not expecting anything in return from you, you really lack appreciation...

Dave: appreciate what? As if i sent you. (sigh)

Esther: well my sisters are also helping you washing the dishes and the others, but listen to what you have to do.

Dave: what is that?

Esther: (smiles) kiss me.

Dave: never! You disgusting...

instantly, she slap me and i attack with a hotter slap, she slap me again, making me to hit my head on the wall and we started to fight, though she have the upper hand. My aunty and her two daughters run into the room seeing me and her daughter fighting, she stop the fight and ask for explanation, i was about to explain but my aunty slam her pam and five fingers into my face and i burst into tears, as expected, her daughter Esther twist the explanation to her favour and ego, my aunty punish me with hunger throughout the day, it was the first time i experience starvation in my life. The next day i was weak left with no strenght to do any of the house chores, but i decided to still wash my uncle car without any strenght in me, after i did it, i get inside to sweep the house but emily and beatrice were already sweeping the house, i know they were sad and felt panthetic about me yesterday, so i went back into my room, UnCloth, tie my towel and go inside the bathroom to take my bath.

Don't blame the teacher! Every time the team loses a match, you think the coach isn't good?

Now, those people you talk about are simply crazy. One idiot will start something and before you say "Jack!" It has become a norm.

There are 4 types of Gender - Masculine, Feminine, Common and Neuter.

The word 'cousin' belongs to the commongender. These are words of either sex (male or female) E.g. friend, neighbour, guest, teacher, colleague, speaker, child etc.

You don't need to modify the word 'cousin' with brother or sister, and if you must, my male cousin or female cousin is more appropriate.
Since we are trying to help the grammar according to Penguin2, we can say neighbour-woman, colleague-Male, friend-brother. And soon, they will all be added to the dictionary. wink

To those justifying the use of such words, just know that what is wrong is not right except it is universally accepted to be. Cousin brother/sister is wrong and it is wrong in every sense.

I grew up knowing "cousin", how on Earth the word "brother/sister" found its way to pair with cousin still baffles me.

I can still remember the first time I heard someone use the world, I thought he did it unintentional but he repeated it again, again and again. When I couldn't take it anymore, I tried correcting this guy but I discovered he had a fix mindset; he believed what he knows can never be wrong. At that point, I had to leave him to his foolly.
It's a very wrong and irritating way to speak. And some people are trying to justify it because they fall under the category of those who use it.

I trust my English lecturers, they will just mark that person down if he/she writes that nonsense. That's why people fail the simplest English courses because they refuse to unlearn rubbish.

I have a cousin that is more like an aunty because she's like 20yrs older. The "cousin sister" people will call her cousin aunty cheesy
Romance › Re: What Is Wrong With People That Say "Cousin Brother" "Cousin Sister"? by ImaIma1(f): 6:11am On May 11, 2022
Penguin2:
Mr grammarian…

First of, your English is poorly constructed for someone who wants to lend his voice to how Nigerians should speak English properly.

Second, the word ‘cousin’ is neither masculine nor feminine and there are no articles that make them so.

So, Nigerians who add ‘sis’ and ‘bro’ after cousin are actually helping you understand better with absolute clarity.

Another of your problem is that you seem to be a structuralist and not a deconstructionist who would think beyond what he was taught and make his own additions to subjects and concepts and theories.

The English language is not a dead language; it keeps evolving.

Same with every discipline of scholarship.

The syntaxes and semantics of the English lexicon are not cast in stone. They keep dropping and picking up new stuff.

Who says ‘cousin sister’ and ‘cousin brother’ will not one day be added as proper English expression?

If everyone reasoned like you, Scientists would still believe Atom is the smallest indissoluble and indestructible particle.

We would still hold on to the theory that the world is flat.

Or that the sun rotates round the earth.

These are previously held concepts and theories that have been proven false through the instrumentality of those who dared to think different.

Dare to think different!
It is still wrong. We have been using just "cousin" for decades without the confusion of gender. The gender is usually revealed as they go on.

If you studied language as I perceive, you should kick against it. It is just another "Nigerian English" like calling every seasoning "maggi" and every noodles "indomie". It is not standard English.

English is not redundant does not mean we should start speaking rubbish with the hope that it will be added to the vocabulary.
