What is happening in Israel/Palestine is exactly what is happening in Nigerian North/South.

Hang on, Nigeria teaches Science, Maths and Tech from elementary school. Relgious studies still has fewer hours than even English and Maths.

We aren't technologically developed because we believe that by selling raw materials, we can buy things we should be making in the first instance. And we have tons of raw materials. We haven't grasped that we could make more money using the raw materials to make goods and services

Also, we despise technical studies. We encourage far too many people to go to universities and graduate with paper degree...and the fact is white collar jobs pay better than blue collar... Meanwhile, just as the Sergenats and NCO's run armies , its the technicians that build an industrial and scientific society. WE don't have enough of them

You answered your own questions. Teaching Science and Maths without application is a waste of time and energy. I wish I could post the video of Elementary students in China disassembling and assembling hand guns. Teaching Science and Technology is not about memorizing equations and using it to solve problems on paper.

I am in a dilemma and I need advice on what to do.

A bit of background about myself: I am a 29 years only child from a very poor background. I work for an IT firm which i joined in 2019 as a graduate trainee.

My total income is around 490k (400k from main job, 90k from a writing side gig).

My challenge:
Recently, My host have told me to look for my accommodation and I have been searching for houses. Unfortunately, the places closer to my places of work is expensive.

I work in VI and the cheapest mini flat I have seen in close vicinity is 1.2M at Ajah.

I also have have a building project I am undertaking in the village that is at roofing stage and my parents have been pressuring me to settle down as the only child.

My dilemma is this, If i go for the house at Ajah, it will eat a bulk of my savings, thereby making it impossible for me to complete the building project or even start the process of settling down.

If I go for a cheaper but farer location, I will be spending more time in traffic.

Please, how do I manage this?

You live and work in Lagos.
The first thing that occured to you is to build a house in the village where you don't live. If your parents are near homeless, you should have built a small affordable 2-bedroom bungalow for them.

I think you got your priorities wrong. It seems your plan is that your employer would let you live rent free in Lagos forever and that formed the center point of your financial decisions.

If you keep entangling your financial decisions with your parent's emotional blackmail, you will probably end up in the village driving Keke. By the way, your job can go anytime as well and it may take awhile to get another one. I hope you have backup funds in case of the unknown.

The only thing people fail to address is that this was engineered by Britain when they still ran the British Empire.

Now imagine if Igbo people start buying up Lekki. And Britain is in conflict with the rest of West Africa. Due to political influence and wealth, Britain carved out Lekki(by declaration not treaty) and make it Biafran territory to protect their economic interests in the West African region anchored on a fairy tale in the Bible. Will it sit well with the rest of West Africa especially if Britain lost her empire?
