SamuelAnyawu: Was he a cultist?
Wel growing up in Makurdi has made me to give benefits of the doubt to dudes killed by cultists.
I knew over 7 dudes killed during 2015-2018 period who were never cultist. I'll never forget the death of one of my area dudes then who was shot from behind by the gun man (Cultist) @7pm who did not do a proper verification. His neighbour who was he real deal they came for jumped the fence and ran away till date.
The dudes who pulled that hit were remorseful, but too late as the deed has been done.
I remembered in 2005 how i was almost killed at Plaza hotel in Mkd by some touts who called themselves black skulls ( junior ) just because i had a little business in an area dominated by Red skins (Junior Vikings). They assumed that i must be a Red guy to own a business in a Vikings dominated area. Assumption!! Assumption!!!
I was lucky when they wanted to pull that evil act on me they first took excuse from one of their senior Chairman a popular Cultist then who is my next compound neighbour. The guy screamed "Omo nope oh this Guy una wan fall na Satchet Jew man"

Concrete gain more strength during wet season through a phenomenon known as curing ( especially wet curing ). When you placed a concrete you keep on providing moisture at the surface of the concrete for 28days, during this period the concrete gain strength by a process known as hydration.
When you build during dry season, you will have to provide this moisture in the form of regular wetting of the slab constantly 24hours for 28days to get the desired result. / What is this goat bleating about? Alright Einstein. Argue with yourself. / |

Romance › Re: They Won't Know Your Value Until They Lose You by InvertedHammer: 6:25pm On Oct 31, 2019 |
LordAdam16: You're veering off on a tangent.
Your earlier point was about value. My retort was that value (in relationships) is both relative and subjective.
Which underlines the importance of having a talk. Unfortunately, lots of folks think having a shouting match should pass as "The Talk."
With your latest response, you're skipping all that to transactionality. That's a whole nother kettle of fish. Cause anyone could argue, and rightfully so, that virtually all relationships are universally transactional in nature.
Relationships are pretty much; I provide A, B, C and I receive X, Y, Z. Where any letter A through Z may be tangible or intangible. Using the terms love, affection, feelings are intellectually lazy attempts to mask the transaction.
The issue on this side of the Atlantic is not really transactionality; it's the gamesmanship. It's all a big pretense-fest.
Like you have a transactional relationship with your bank. There are more than two dozen other choices with equally nice and usually comparable quality of service. But you stay with your bank even when they make borderline-criminal deductions from your account or insist on morally-bankrupt rules and guidelines. However, you and your bank know for a fact that if the bank falls into hard times, your loyalty goes off the window and you'd take out your money faster than the speed of sound.
You don't have that in our so-called romantic relationships. The unspoken code is that it's a ride or die journey. The reality is that if I see a better car and the occupant is all over me, I'd seriously consider getting off. If the car breaks down, and the opportunity is glaring to take a hike; then it'd be a sin to stay back.
Overseas, it's just as transactional. For instance, currently a substantial percentage of ladies in the West are decrying that there are not enough economically-viable prospects in the market. This was from just 6 days ago on Inc -- https://www.inc.com/minda-zetlin/marriage-mismatch-husbands-wives-earnings-education-jobs.html.
The headline is "Marriage Mismatch? Research Shows Today's Single Men Don't Meet Single Women's Expectations."
Geez, I wonder why?! *fake surprised pikachu face*
That said, unlike over here, when they do find the unicorn or choose to make do with whatever is available; there are clear "articles of contract termination."
1. You lose your job for an extended period... Adios! 2. If I find someone better than you, that makes me happy, treats me better, bla bla bla... Adios! 3. If you embarrass the family, whether it's a cheating scandal or a public meltdown... Adios! 4. If you become disabled or otherwise incapacitated that taking care of you requires a ton of work... Adios! 5. Insert whatever deal breaker comes to mind
And if a partner chooses to stay after you've broken any of the cardinal rules; then they're a saint and you owe your partner big time.
It always beats me when people go into or consider relationships as this must-do and then have the nerve to act shocked when their prospective or actual partner acts like a typical human being. You know, greed, hypocrisy, being economical with the truth, manipulative, and the whole nine yards...
I always go: Wait a minute, what did you think you were in a relationship with. An alien? Or did you sleepwalk into a time machine, travel to the past or to the future and unlocked the knowledge of creating your own programmable personal human?
Love literally means deep affection. That's one emotion. There are a host of others; including anger, ego, pride, and what not! And that's not counting tangible needs.
-Lord / Nawa o. You get time. / |

Romance › Re: They Won't Know Your Value Until They Lose You by InvertedHammer: 3:00pm On Oct 31, 2019 |
LordAdam16: The chances of this happening reduces substantially if the folks involved have had The Talk.
That's when everyone involved (whether it's a traditional binary or polyamorous) tables their pluses and minuses about the arrangement from their own perspectives. What's important to them and where the other person is falling short, and why that matters a lot.
If you haven't had the talk, you're flying blind.
And the real kicker is that different things matter to different people at different degrees. That sh*t that riles you up, seems immaterial to her. And that sacrifice you think you're making doesn't even register on his radar because he thinks that's par for the course.
That's why compatibility is such a big deal. Most of us have that one sibling/close relative we can live with for the rest of our lives without ever entering a squabble. And that one, we love to death for sure, but absolutely can't live with for more than a few months at a time without seriously contemplating fratricide or sororicide.
-Lord / You should know that the foundation of love in Nigeria is transactional and has less to do with feelings. The economy is bad. Unemployment is high. A payer and a receiver system. Toasting a girl is an indirect way of telling her that you have extra fund you earmarked for supporting her. When such benefits do not exist means the guy is not caring/loving. / |

Romance › Re: They Won't Know Your Value Until They Lose You by InvertedHammer: 11:18pm On Oct 30, 2019 |
binarymachine: In life, the availability and presence of something everywhere lowers its value and makes it cheap. This makes it easy for people to play with it, use it as careless as they please and even waste it. Lets take PMS( petrol) for example, people only realise how important it is when there is scarcity of it. They queue up, fight, curse at the government and beg to get it. When they eventually do, they use it wisely and judiciously. This is the same liquid they run their generating sets with till dawn when it was available.
In relationships however, you have no choice but to make yourself available, since you need to be physically present to show them you love and care for them. Besides, Love grows well with physical presence. As you play, laugh, cry, talk, build intimacy and spend quality time together, the bond gets stronger and the affection thicker.
The problem comes when one partner begins to underappreciate the presence of the other in their life. You have made yourself available, put in your whole heart to the growth of the relationship. You have loved, worked, sacrificed, provided, fended for, tended to, cooked, cleaned, washed, spent money, even quarrelled and waded off friends and family all because of them and still your good is not enough! They don’t seem to see what you are doing for them, infact any person could have easily done so. They rarely thank you for your sacrifices and instead deny or belittle the ones you have done in the past. Its time to make your self scarce like petrol in their life!
Put the whole relationship on suspension, separate yourself from them, let them miss and yearn for you for a while and even as long as possible. They are taking you for granted because they think you are too cheap and weak to walk away. Let them find another person to do all the things you do for them, tolerate their rubbish and still not be appreciated, that is when they will realise that they have made a big mistake, that they had gold in their hands and failed to recognise it.
People do not know the value of what they have until they loose it or it feels as if they have lost it. It will be hard for you, you love them so much but for your self worth and dignity, take that walk and give them time alone as long as possible. If possible give them a little of the treatment they gave you before walking.
If they realise their mistakes on time and come to ask for your forgiveness genuinely, accept and give your favourable terms before going back. If they are too blind to realise your worth in their life, you were probably worth nothing to them all these while, good you left. Start afresh and build your life again this time making sure you correct the mistakes you did in the previous one.
Source: https://flipmemes.com/2019/09/30/they-wont-know-your-value-untill-they-loose-you/ / The funny thing is that the one who put the relationship in suspension may be the one killing the relationship in the first place. The first question is: Do you have any value in the relationship? Or are you a destiny-killer? Walking away may be a blessing in disguise to the one you jilted. Go figure! / |
