blackprowler:/ It went up 100%. Wait till it goes up to 500%. Once devalued, the naira will gain a few points and the nose dive starts. The problem some of you have is that you never consider long term effects. You tend to be enamoured with quick fixes that are short term solutions. Where will naira be five years, ten years, twenty years after devaluation? That's how serious nations make projections and not three months fix. Egypt with some semblance of decorum tried it and failed. So did many other nations. Nigeria, with high reliance on import will be a basket case. The simple fact is that Nigeria has no bargaining chips. If oil ever rolls down to 20s and stay there for a while, Nigeria will go belly up. The hidden truth is that Nigeria has been having problems for years finding buyers for her oil. To move away from dependence on oil revenue takes years to implement. Nigeria has no infrastructures to support any industry with potentials. She can't even guarantee 24hrs of power supply in this 21st century. \ |
/ Nigerians are easy to be mesmerized with anything or anyone with a seal of approval from the West. NOI was the VP of World Bank. Great! But western institutions are not like institutions in Nigeria. NOI has multiple bosses above her that dictate her responsibilities based on Policy and Procedures. She cannot act unilaterally as an upper management would in Nigeria. She could not guide the policy direction of the World Bank even if she wants. The liberty of management she had in Nigeria was a full responsibility that she never had before. As a matter of fact, being a Finance Minister in Nigeria was a big promotion. But some eggheads thought it was a demotion to leave World Bank to serve in Nigeria in the capacity she did. Sometimes, educating Nigerians are insurmountable task that I believe the best option is to let them wallow in their ignorance. Like I always say, why bother? |
/ I might not be the girl's fault. If the ex-boyfriends live in south side Chicago... Life in Chiraq is a requiem that is almost guaranteed to happen. Too many savages. \ |
/ The people shouting "DEVALUATION " are similar to the folks that got sucked into the bubble of "CHANGE" When they finally get it, the mirage will clear. The inflation and consequent hardship will be second to none. Black market will always thrive even if abolished because everyone wants more bang for his/her bucks. In all, after devaluation, prices will adjust up while salaries remain stagnant. Will you be ready? \ |
/ ...so that when you finally get married to him and find out that he is impotent or that two of you are not sexually compatible, then you can go to a church and do Thanksgiving for taking an advice from the OP who is probably a pre-teen. \ |
/ Try clobetasol Propionate 0.05% cream applied twice daily. If symptoms persist after two weeks, then consult a dermatologist. If you spend all the money to visit a dermatologist, there is about 90% chance he/she will start you off on the same medication noted above. Check with your chemist/Pharmacist, the medication comes in different trade names. Good luck. \ |
Mediapace:/ You are beefing someone who is planning better life for his family. I guess you will feel better if he is stuck in Nigeria where the government cares less if you exist or not. Hatred and envy are equally dangerous. \ |
/ That moment Africans believe that the western economic prescriptions is because they care about Africans ![]() Borrowing from China is a smart move. Nigeria bypassed the middlemen. US and the rest borrow from China too to lend to third world countries. Over all, Nigerians are like alcoholics. Give an alcoholic N100 or N1000, his next stop will be in a bar living it up. \ |
TonyeBarcanista:/ There are no benefits. \ |
Michaeluzomam:How is a Huracan worth N150m? Average factory price is about $200k. Let's assume tax, etc. gulp $50k. That is $250k x N320 = N80,000,000. That's assuming the owner does not have access to official exchange rate which is very unlikely. Where did the 100% price exaggeration come from? Either way, it is still an expensive machine but needless exaggerating the price. \ |
/ Where are Linda Ikeji, militant feminists and their domestic violence against women story? \ |
/ There you have it. The hand writing on the wall is becoming clearer. The clues are there. Time to move funds out of sick banks or get burned. \ |
folks4luv:/ Why would she engage in a public spat with that boy Wizkid? To make it worse, she railroaded it into feminism/domestic violence. People could see through thst gimmick. Linda is successful but the way she carried herself should be of serious concern to people who care about her. You will be surprised at how marriage and sense of responsibilities mature a lady. Take a look at Tonto and Mercy Johnson. Nothing beats a man who calms a lady down when the storm is raging. Her dad has been pestering her about marriage because what an elder sees standing up, a child on a tree cannot see. \ |
What? In a few years from now, Linda will be beefing with Davido and Wizkid's children. She needs to get away from the leeches called family she surrounds herself with and build hed own family. If in the next 3+ years, she is not married with kids, it is over. Tyra banks was crying the other day because she traded family for fame and success only to find out the void is depressing. Linda is getting there. Folorunsho Alakija, Ivanka Trump, Beyonce, etc ( people who are worth 100000% more than whatever Linda thinks she has) are raising their families. After 40, her cheerleaders (aka frenemies in disguise) will start to tear her down. It is a matter of time. \ |
sucess001:/ Linda made blogging what it is today? \ |
/ This nonsense needs to stop! The essence of copying something is to improve it and not send it back to 1800s. Nigeria is an untapped environment. Five years of engineering education should lead them towards inventing something that serves a purpose, and possibly be patented. No light, no fuel. And no one is thinking of alternative energy instead of a bad welding job. \ |
/ Do you want to talk business? Talk to Igbo men or Yoruba women. \ |
/ If this is Kanu's younger brother, then Kanu is 50+ \ |
/ The explanation is nonsense. Fact: Wizkid threatened to harm Linda Ikeji. Any act of violence directed at any person(s) is a crime-- MAN or WOMAN. This should have nothing to do with feminism. \ |
/ There is only a slight significant difference between the brothels and female hostels in Nigeria. \ |
TPAND:/ International intellectuals? How old are you? When issues being discussed are way above one's level of comprehension, it is advisable to sit back, read and learn. \ |
/ Celebrity? No. Then he is gay. If he hasn't slept with a man, it is only because the opportunity has not presented itself. What manner of a man would sit for hours to have his hair braided? Someone who has nothing better to do in life. If you ever visit or drive by predominantly gay communities, you will witness a certain peculiar appearances. Don't let the phantom machismo fool you. Or the least, he is a closet bisexual. Of course, they will deny it which is understandable. \ |
/ Jonathan was a mistake. He was never ambitious nor prepared to become a President. Obasanjo looked for unassuming stooges after failing the 3rd Term bid and found the puppets in sickly Yar'Adua and shadowy Jonathan. Just like a bad product marketted so well that it got good reviews, gullible Nigerians fell for the antics of paid PR firms who sold Jonathan as a breathe of fresh air. From Immigration scandal to Oduah and co. scandals, Jonathan remained aloof as every politician became a merchant of loot. Nemo dat quod non habet. People clamoured for leadership qualities that Jonathan did not possess. In comparing Jonathan's cluelessness to Buhari's aloofness, Nigerians tend to forget that bad leadership in any form will never lead to greatness. Jonathan was a mess. Buhari is not any better. What went wrong? Most people are not concerned with the answers to this puzzle. They still erroneously believe that it is about PDP or APC. In choosing between Jonathan and Buhari, Nigerians wanted to make a choice for the lesser of two evils. Glaring fact remains that they were both bad products. A popular adages says, "fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me". What will the person who coined the dictum think of Nigerians who have been fooled multiple times and continue to manifest willingness to be fooled more? \ |
osita76:/ We will have enough when outsiders start going to Anambra for jobs because the factories are in short supply of employees. \ |
/ Is he still wearing the signature braids at 50+? \ |
megama:/ What planet do you live in? You are already recolonized. Remember: He who pays the piper determines the tunes. By the time Nigeria finishes dancing to the discordant tunes from the West and Asia, you will hate being a Nigerian. \ |
/ A beggar has no choice. If a creditor gives some unfavourable conditions, a prospective borrower has an option of walking away. Regrettably, Nigeria is in no such position financially. The good news: If we buy materials from Chinese companies, China pays for them. At least we get the materials. Compare it with giving $2b to Nigeria and the fund develops wings overnight. That is, no money no materials. \ |
\ We don't need malls. We need factories. / |
/ It is so unimaginable that folks are ever ready to blame everyone that served under Goodluck Jonathan except GEJ himself. My question: What was GEJ doing in the Presidency? Everything that happened was because of GEJ's incompetence and his subordinates used that weakness against him--never had the lack of respect for a sitting President been so apparent. \ |
/ Change your line. Give your new number to important business partners. If your ex calls after that, it proves that you have ulterior motives. The old line will lead to a crazy text coming in one time from old lifestyle that may break your marriage. Husband is scarce. Protect your territory or others will take over. The ones burning midnight candles are praying that you screw up so that they can take over. I don't think you are ready for marriage. If you are, you will look into your family to decide how peace will reign. Soliciting advice from strangers on how to deal with minor issues in your marriage is a recipe for disaster. Everyone will have opinions based on their families which are different. Only you and your husband can design your family because every family is unique in its own way. No rights, wrongs or obligations fit one and all. Peace is very important in a marriage. Address your husband's concern(s). Cave ne sedes. \ |
/ This dollar appreciation is historic. Dollar dumping is usually catastrophic and historically starts in March. A trend is developing. \ |
