Yes that's why college will still sell but maybe not for married folks since spouse can only visit. They still allow you qualify for PGWP which you can convert to LMIA, PNP, PR and Citizenship. ttomexy: |
So many wrong assumptions in the video. Covid era brought shortage of professionals in the world and countries like Nigeria and India emigrated to take that advantage. The woman didn't factor the fact that a large chunk of Nigerians who migrate abroad now to school or work have skills. Even if they will do menial job it will be for a while to gain ground. By the time they start working, the things they can't achieve working in Nigeria for 10years you will see them achieving it in 2-3years. A small portion of those supporting we stay put in Nigeria only say sp from their genuine choice. A large chunk badmouthing japa are pained for their lack global skills/career or inability to finance or pursue it hence they support all of us staying in a country that does not have plans for her citizens. |
All your points are valid, you have chances of getting a Masters admission than him. Bowluwahtifeh: |
There is no SOWP route for College or PGD students again. It's dead and buried. Only option is to move from PGWP to LMIA or get PR to bring spouse via SOWP. PGWP is still a kind of work permit tied to the condition of the student which is a college graduate so no SOWP. The PGWP option you think is available to bring spouse is actually LMIA (closed work pernit) except the student is admitted or enrolled in a Masters or professional degree then there spouse qualify for SOWP. Spouse of such student can still apply for SOWP when they move from students to graduates (PGWP) Asekzz: |
You don't have to cry, we re in d same shoes. I know how it hurts being separated for 8 months now. Let them apply for visit asap first but deal with the issue they were rejected for first. How many year study permit do you have. If it's up to 2 yrs try apply for a one year Masters course so your spouse can qualify for SOWP else it's only visit he or she can. If you can't afford a Masters then wait for 2-5 yrs when you ll be able to get a sponsored LMIA job or PR and then apply for spousal sponsorship for your spouse. Bowluwahtifeh: |
My take is if the president have to remove fuel subsidy on pms that cars, vehicle and others drives on, why subsidize flight for Hajj or Jerusalem where these people can even be in the middle class or priviledge. Is it a wise decision economically as a nation? I love to see people's contributions void of a religious bias and just from an economical stand as tommorrow it can be for Jerusalem pilgrimage as the custom is in Nigeria. https://dailytrust.com/exclusive-fg-subsidises-hajj-fares-with-n90bn/ |
I think this thread deserves front page so we can get more views. @seun |
For new sowp, If you have a spouse with Masters admission, permit and Letter of Acceptance. The spouse with visit visa can do flagpole to the date of the spouse with study permit. This works earlier with college admission and study permit but not again with the new law. Can also work for existing sowp as I mentioned in earlier scenerio. Ogbigog: |
You are welcomed as you have 3 options open to you. 1. To allow your spouse extend her study permit 1st and later you extend your sowp so her approval will not be delayed. 2. You can do both apply for study and sowp together but people often say it makes d study permit extension delayed 3. Let her apply and get her study extension first while you flagpole with her extension to get your own SOWP extension. ianian: |
He keeps arguing about a path with PGWP for SOWP but he is showing us a path with LMIA route instead (closed permit). I pity people he's giving unnecessary hope. Please ignore him and let him be gropping in the dark. We have tried our best. To be ignorant is not bad but to be hesitant to learn the facts is self destructive. Ogbigog: |
You will apply under option 3 in the attached. You have no problem ianian:

Extension renewal option for SOWP is the 3rd. Check my attachment. ianian: |
Under which path? SOWP is an International mobility program under just one stream path. You have still refused to show us how spouse of PGWP holders (especially those who graduated from college) can apply for SOWP. If you know show us and stop giving people false hope. Na Masters admission I dey look for my wife like this. A lot of College will lose patronage. I see a lot of their staffs relief cos this route was responsible for the influx of Application to colleges. Now Unis ti take over. Bobomaigida: |
Oya show us the route of PGWP....it can only exist from the only three options required for SOWP...either ur spouse or CLP is a Masters student, PhD student or professional degree student (medical or law). Aside this even if you have PGWP as a college student na oyo you dey. The route has been removed totally I guess with the stats of Int'l college student they have seen in Canada , them no want make we choke them up. Check the attachment and see the questions you will be asked when opening applications for SOWP? Bobomaigida:

There is no option for SOWP even after PGWP. Only option available is Masters, PhD and Professionals Degrees. The only option open for college graduates is to have a PR and apply for Spousal sponsorship Bobomaigida: |
You are quite right. It started yesterday March 19 https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/work/help-your-spouse-common-law-partner-work-canada.html Davedavy: |
Red flag to refuse you on misrepresentation grounds and then lack of purpose. It could be grave to as much as a ban. You have to ensure your storyline leads into another without refuting themselves. opessi: |
And the new policy does not apply to existing students before September 2024. Policy takes effect for any college study permit gotten after September 2024, their spouse can only apply for visit not open work. Only undergraduates of specialized profession like law and medicine (that pays high fees) will be entitled along Masters holders. These things are also likely to change as it affects them. Should there be a 2nd covid or disaster, they will open it again. The west knows how to use real time data to take decisions in there interest while we just be at the receiving end of their decisions. Olayinkayyyyy: |
What about in my case....my spouse has just gotten her study extension for her 2year course. A year study permit was earlier given that was revoked. She has paid full year tuition as required by IRCC. She is almost completing her 1st year by April end showing a year living expense catered for. Do I need to still show proof of fund for her as she has already used our proof of fund to just recently get her extension. I am asking because I got a refusal for insufficient fund and I am looking at reapplying soon with more funds. Please advice. Bobomaigida: |
If we do sell our pms to international market in Naira, do you know what the implications will be on our intl buyers? It means China, Brazil, Egypt or any foreign country that is interested in procuring our pms will have to look for naira to pay us. This is where our currency develops international value as countries will now seek it as a means of payment to us. How will they be able to pay us, they will look for a Intl business Nigerians do Intl order from and request that Nigerians pay with Naira instead of USD so they too can mop up fund to pay for pms they will buy from Nigeria. They will not want to risk buying Naira with foreign currency in Nigeria which is an option but dangerous. Helinus: |
I like the way the great Maradona idolized the great Pele with an admirable kiss. Deep calls unto the deep. |
If Sheila wants to finish Israel DMW, she should just upload herself sitting in a man's lap with red wine in a glass cup in an hotel location and broke into laugh with a tipsy eyes. Isreal DMW will just go and drink otapiapia 😆 |
Are you for real, I need 300 usd Blackfire: |
Don't forget to add LoA also, absent can lead to refusal because that is where they use to decide your permit duration and DLI information and the course details. AgEcon: |
Congrats to your family, please share us your timeline. ttomexy: |
My spouse has just gotten her study extension approved. I have sent a mail and webform to Nairobi informing them of an update. I expect a decision asap. I aplied Dec. 24th 2023 and a 3rd time Applicant. Damihassan: |
You see why I said medical passed is a good pointer to an application leading to the promise land except something happens otherwise in some cases. Unfortunately, 1st time applicants do not get medical pass update until PPR.

|
Do you have wind fairly available at all times and places in Nigeria? buttlover: |
If not for my inverter which God gave me sense to invest in few years ago, I would have developed depression now. During the day my fridge, lightning, fan and everything is covered. At night I used the rechargeable fan and only need to recharge at about 1am. Funny enough my inverter is already sold as the buyer will come for it when I am travelling. |
Funny question....It's like doing something different from what your manager asked you to do at work? How can you achieve that with everyone in the conspiracy not just you. Jeshurun90: |
Reason I said it's not a guarantee especially in cases like SOWP where they give refusal based on crazy reasons like insufficient info about your spouse as a full time student in a DLI or insufficient info that you have a marital status with the international student enrolled in a DLI. Passed medical means you don't have basic issues like PoF issues, Asset issues, Purpose issues on his or her first review of your application because if they do, your medical will never be passed. Don't forget that a failed Background Check also means refusal so many things can make a medical passed application that is going smoothly get refused at the end. Again the visa officer may spot a basic issue he or she hadn't seen before. Your medical pass will not help at that level. Kurukuru: |
I am not a 1st time applicant so I applied with my biometric ID and medical result both active. I got medical passed i think a week later after sending my medical result as webform. Cjnick: |
