Politics › Re: 10 African Countries With The Highest Military Strength And Fire Power by Jeezuzpick(m): 2:37pm On Apr 26, 2015 |
prince3009: In my opinion, Nigeria should be the first. There was this story about a certain time when Nigerian Soldiers were sent on a joint peace keeping mission in an African country (either Dafur of Sierra-Leone... i can't remember which) with the military of other selected African countries with UN heading the contingency.
One day, the rebels in that country who were known to be very ruthless came to a town which was bordering the capital and took over the town. The UN soldiers went to confront them and the rebels fought them back and the UN soldiers suffered very heavy casualties and had to retreat and re-enforce with some other soldiers from the other African countries like Cameroon etc. They went back there and suffered the same or even worse fate in the hands of the rebels.
The Nigerian soldiers who were camping some kilometres away from that place were called upon cos there was this fear that if the rebels advanced into the capital of that country, it would cause serious problems. So when the Nigerian soldiers arrived in the UN camp, the commander insisted that his boys only would go to confront the rebels without any assistance and the UN gave them the go ahead though they were skeptical about the numbers of the soldiers on the Nigerian side as against the large number of rebels.
The Nigerian soldiers proceeded to the place and according to civilian witnesses, as the soldiers were advancing they were being shot at by the rebels but surprisingly the bullets were not penetrating them and the hand grenades thrown at them did not detonate. The soldiers killed 3/4 of the rebels, arrested some while the rest retreated back into the bushes.
Unfortunately, the CNN and BBC started giving credit to the UN soldiers and attributed that particular feat to them leaving the Nigerian soldiers at the sidelines. I'm inclined to believe you. I won't even ask for pictures! One question, though: Are you talking about these guys that Boko was strafing anyhow in the Northeast? |

seyidobo: 1. EGYPT
Egypt is a country in the north of Africa with a staggering population of 94 million people and has faced major political crises in the recent past but this has not changed its position as a leading African country when it comes to military strength. A significant percentage of Egypt’s population (over 35 million) are fit for active military service and more than 1.5 million individuals reach the military age every year. With almost 5000 tanks including armoured fighting vehicles, self propelled guns and towed artillery, Egypt is a force to reckon with when it comes to Africa. Having a total of 1,100 aircraft including 245 helicopters, 343 fighters, 390 trainer aircraft and 28 mine warfare, 84 serviceable air ports and a budget of over $4bn pumped into Egypt’s defence every 365 days make Egyptian military the strongest among other countries in Africa. Why not? When a country like Israel is breathing down their neck? Why be enemies with Israel, who have nukes? NUKES!!! This is where having the right allies trumps having a huge military stockpile any day! |

maestroferddi: You are making a big mistake.
Regardless of whether Agbaje wins or not, the indisputable fact is that JK is a very likable person. He is by far more appealing than Ambode.
He sounds smarter and one may not need to look very far to know that JK will make a quality governor.
The Igbos are not supporting JK because he is in the PDP. Instead the love for Agbaje is that he has such a pleasing personality. It is like Obama whose attraction cuts racial lines.
It is not anybody's fault that JK looks a better candidate than Ambode. Americans voted Obama knowing he will adhere to the Democrat ideology. Agbaje will follow the trend of his fellow PDP. Don't you get it? Likable candidate of an evil party! Even devil dey appear as angel, y'know! |

Firefire: Ten questions to Gov. Babatunde Raaji Fashola (SAN) - Urgent response required.
1. Will Tinubu still continue to control the elected governor ? (You will recollect you performed wonders in your 1st term only to hibernate in your 2nd term)
2. Will APC domesticate the Freedom of Information Bill?
3. Will APC not revert the LASU school fees again ?
4. When will the Light rail project be completed after many failed promises ?
5. Will there be transparency on Alpha Beta tax consulting activities ?
6. Will you be able to now build a home that is affordable to an average Lagosian and not to the few elites in the society ?
7. What is APC & Ambode plans on all hinterland roads your administration could not attend to in the past eight years?
8. Will you increase or reduce the tax burden of Lagosians ?
9. Will APC now compel all LG and LCDA chairpersons to be accountable to the electorate?
10. Will APC now compel elected representatives both federal and state to now be accountable to the electorate?
Your sincere response and feedback to the above would go a long way.
Thank you.

With the card readers pointed to INEC central server in Abuja or state INEC offices, you are suppose to vote anywhere irrespective of where you registered. Why are they not working like POS machines? Men go snatch card reader go do dagbo. This thing was well thought out by Nigerians for use in the Nigerian scenario. |
