musKeeto: Thanks for the gesture.NP. It'll be a useful thread. There once was a 'library thread' on top the page...not sure what happened to it. IMO, if most posters esp the newbies go through to those threads, we would have less 'repetitions' on the board...Lol. At first I didn't get martian, but I'm coming around to his style & perspective. One things for sure, the more diverse the posters, the more we all learn. And as far as I know Logicmind has not been banned. I'm sure he's fine . |
Dis Guy: those might be the training/warm up outfitsMight be. But they're not allowed to show skin abi? or wear tight-fitting clothes, unless I'm mistaken... |
Personally, I wouldn't. Solely because of the 'mental' factor, I wouldn't like to wear something someone else already wore - just my personal thing, it holds sentimental value though I may not wear it again (we're playing with the idea of a 10yr anniv renewal wearing the same dress/suit ). I do agree on not blowing so much money on an item you'll only use once, very reasonable approach. Women should know that with a little shopping around, and taking their focus of "designer labels" you can find gorgeous dresses at prices that won't break the bank. |
This appears not be finalized if the head of their olympic commission is still saying this: The head of the kingdom's Olympic mission, Khalid al-Dakheel, told Reuters on Sunday evening however he was unaware of any developments allowing women to participatewhy the conflicting statements from different arms of the Saudi govt? Anyways, this is cool, a welcome development for the women of SA if it happens but . . . for anyone who plays sports, how are you supposed to play wearing those as uniforms? unless those fabrics are next generation super breathable, me I would faint from heat exhaustion if I wore those to play contact sports like bball or soccer lol. |
musKeeto: Wow.. thanks JeSoul.. don't know how I missed your reply...Any thread with m_nwankwo (especially), justcool, Pilgrim, PastorAIO is bound to be a good one. And reading thru it, PAIO & Justcool were recently again on the german issue (if I'm not mistaken)...lol, nice reading. I'm stickying your thread...a collection of the best topics this section has seen would be very useful. |

Martian: Bad thing that you're in the minority.Oga I am embarrased by such topics opened by christians such as "should females wear trousers" "should women speak in church" "you must pay tithes to the mog" "my church is better than your church" etc etc While I'll be the first to agree that the bible can be read & interpreted in many ways that lead people to declare certain beliefs as law, those same people deliberately forget scriptures like Romans 14 that would easily dispel much misinterpretation, strife and self-righteousness. and perhaps, be more appealing to atheists such as yourself. Perhaps .the quote is from a section about religion/violence and I just thought it applied if the violence is replaced with "conflict". I agree with the rest though.Conflict is certainly different from violence. And I would say that conflict is the nature of human beings, appearing in every facet of our existence, with or without religion, race, culture, education etc etc. Conflict I think is also not always bad, it can refine us and teach us about peaceful co-existence. |
^Hello Martian: Don't you think Christianity and all proselytising religions claiming infallibility are guilty of this? If you think it's a bad thing amongst Christians, why is it alright when christians "demand that their peronal choices should be applied across the board"?Nope, don't agree with the quote and I think we should seperate issues... If I claim that I believe Jesus is the only way - this belief is of no consequence to anyone but me - proselytizing regardless, and as long as I'm not infringing on your rights (this is where many 'christians' & 'churches' err (disturbing the peace etc), and I'll concede you that). This fits in perfectly with my take on Rom 14 - my personal belief should not be "forced" on you. And keep in mind Rom 14 is referring to cupcake issues christians (typical of every other human) tend to latch on and bicker about while ignoring the bigger picture. The quote (at the bare bones) insinuates that holding a personal belief leads to violence - that is a quick & lazy position to take I think. While it is true that many under the cloak of religion have taken up arms against their neighbor - I would argue that many also under the cloak of religion have done incredibly great, compassionate works. I have never been violent towards anyone, and no christian or muslim for that matter that I know has ever been violent. I am of the school of thought that religion merely amplifies what a person already is. Which is why we see religion motivate people towards great good or great evil. If religion wasn't the convenient cloak of choice, they would use something else as justification to be violent towards others. |
omega25red: If you came to the u.s before the age of 16 and you are currently under 30 years of age you are eligible for permanent residency. This was announced by the president Obama today. so all those who did aduro if you are under 30 years old and if you dont have and criminal records quickly go see a lawyer to get good explanantion of the amnesty law before it runs out.Just wanted to point out that its not permanent residency - it is a 2-year work permit that will have to re-applied for after 2yrs. This is very very different from permanent residency. @topic, Furthermore it may automatically make 800,000 eligible, but going by the 'guidelines' listed it seems probably only minimum percentage will actually get it. This is merely pandering to the Latino vote by Obama, man must win election abi? lol. This 'executive order' is nothing more than a tacky bandaid applied to a massive hemorrage, it doesn't truly solve any problems immediately or long-term. Low-risk immigrants espeically children are not being deported en masse to begin with so both Obama & Napolitano saying it will help re-focus resources on 'real problematic illegals' is nothing but a smoke-screen - you can't take focus off something you were never focused on to begin with . That said, I know at least 2 people who will benefit from this temporary fix and I'm happy for them. Perhaps this might open some doors that would've otherwise stayed permanently shut. |
I think the scripture Romans 14 that Muskeeto quoted is absolutely central to this issue. It is fine if a group of believers choose to live a certain way and decide certain things 'not good' for themselves. Problem arises when they demand that their own personal choices should be applied across the board to all christians - this is the real problem, and unfortunately as long as you have human beings in the equation this problem will always exist because of our nature. |
oiseworld: why was my post hidden in the topic, "how can we fight terrorism"Your post was made in the islam section, why asking us here? this is the thread for the islam section - https://www.nairaland.com/288134/lodge-complaints-here |
Goshen360: Thank you my sister. One thing I don't like among my Christian people is that, a forum like this should be an avenue where we come and scrutinize our denominational teachings if they were right or wrong and also test all spirits but we have people coming to dump their denominational teachings on the body of Christ and call it sound doctrines. I don't accept a teaching because my church teach it but I prove it from the word and see if it's not a tradition of men. Many things/teachings are going on in the body of Christ. And it is very good as you, haibe & image are talking it out - there are many silent readers who will profit from your discussion. And oh, I have discussed the issue of women speaking in church, women wearing make-up etc etc at least twice with snr brother Image in the past so I will just take the back seat on this one . Cheers & Godbless brother. |
Zodiac61: According to the christian and muslim gods, being female is the sin. Ptolomeus: Exactly. It is truly unfortunate that beliefs like these lead non-christians to arrive at these conclusions - and Zodiac & ptolomeus are 100% right to surmise as they have - in the 'christian' religion being a woman is the problem. |
Ptolomeus, I hid your first 'comment' as its inappropriate in the spirit of this thread. I know you meant no offense brother .Goshen, I admire your patience & humility more than anything. And I thank you for taking the time to respond to the issues scripturally, me I no fit lol, matters like these just prick me the wrong way. |
OP, got a link to the story? Music is powerful in so many ways. Even non-religious folks will admit to that. I'm glad for the girl & her family. Nice story. |
Thks for the heads up PK. @OP, sister sorry but this thread is not allowed under NL rules. Thanks. |
^lol. Haba, Maclatunji vex you too? edit: well, least I said "much of it is unmerited". We all have our flaws. |
Much words but no substance. Religion that is a mile wide, but only a inch thick. I wish 'believers' are able to simply recognize the difference between ceremonial laws & moral laws. Laws instituted for a season and for a specific reason vs. laws that are written on our hearts & are eternal. |
Whew! Its been such a long journey reading through this thread all the way from page 1. Decided to read through every post when I first skimmed through & realised it would be @Image speaking in favour of Christian tithing. . . I had such high hopes I'd find some valid arguments for Christians tithing here
Suprised to see agent 007 make a rare appearance . |
Like I said, calm down and read slowly. What did you mean here? I have been permanently banned by Seun. He believes that Logicboy is a "troll"! A permanent ban. (logicboy is the old account, Logicboy01 new)If you didn't mean Mac banned you again without reason & permanently then what did you mean? If we all misunderstood you then no qualms. Apologies. I just felt the need to defend Maclatunji cos he's been taking flak from a few people only for me to do a little looking and find out much of it is unmerited. This is my final say on this. Cheers. |
What are you talking about ? I simply said your last ban in the muslim section you had attributed to maclatunji and said was permanent was incorrect on both counts.Seriously logicboy, if you simply calmed down and read posts slowly much of all this would be avoided. Trying to explain things to you gets tiring, so you must kindly forgive my unwillinglyness to continue. You're free to believe as you do about your reputation here & the circumstances of your ban from Seun. Cheers. |
and oh this nice one too from Enigma: "What It Means To Be "born Again"!" https://www.nairaland.com/429416/what-it-means-born-again |
^haha, nice picks Muskeeto. Dulcet's thread holds some cool memories for me. ^Before you cry foul again, it was the spambot that hid your last post, I've untagged it. Your handle will be automatically restored in an hour. -I said you blamed your last ban on Maclatunji, whereas it was Seun. As for the rest of your post, well, you will always see things from your own glasses. As I have remarked to you several times, you have been on the radar due to complaints & incessant posting on threads you don't belong on. Didn't I just clean up a thread you derailed few days ago brought to attention here by Frosbel? I think you're an ok dude, but really need to dial back the fervor several notches. |
who sent me to click on this thread...those snails |
^abeg leave MMW jor. Mods may not always have the chance/time the look thru. |
Ptolomeus: JeSoul Thank you dear friend!Cool. I'm glad it worked brother . Happy posting.Toba wassup? Enigma, good to hear that . We thank the Lord for His mercies. |
Image123: stop shuddering my sister from the same father. can you answer my question instead? no shudder o, our inlaw no dey house ba, abi you no get trousers ni?But your question comes in about a -1 on a scale of 1-10 in terms of relevance . Who wore ![]() |
Ptolomeus: Dear friends.I'm sorry you keep having so much trouble with this. I think its part of the bugs or glitches with NL2. There have been reports of posters not being able to post on threads of people they are "following". Try this. 1. On top the page that says "Followers", click on it 2. On the page, click "un-follow" on all the people/posters that you're following 3. Try again to post on those threads Give the above a shot and let us know how if it works. Or else I'll submit a query to the admin to try to figure out what's going on with your profile. Thanks as always for being so courteous & patient, I wish I could clone you and fill the religion section with people like you it would be so peaceful. |
